Tuesday morning in the wee hours we had a huge storm. Thunder, lightening and high winds...did I say winds? More like Gales! Came home from work to find stange men in my yard picking up branches, cutting down the rest of the weeds etc. I started to cut through my partially torn down lean to, but the guys were yelling and making go back signs with their hands. So I went out the back door, to try to figure out what was going on. The men were from the county and were going around cleaning up debris from the storm, and in going down my alley they discovered the building was looking really weak and they wondered if they could knock it down before it knocked me down. They barely tapped it with a little Cat and the whole thing crashed down,[

kaboom} taking out my TV/cable line and my telephone line.

We were all amazed at how weak the structure was and that it was still standing at all.

One of the men called the cable co (we still didn't know about the phone) to report the outage. Then they piled up the junk and left, saying they would be back the next day. I went in to call the cable co to make sure the work order was filed...and no phone!

The next day I came home and they had topped some bushes that had grown into trees, but also had chopped down the big cedar that grew next to the house. Losing the cedar was sad, but I could live with it and hoped it would "come back" next year.

Now we are on the 3rd day, no cable, no phone and someone had yanked out the evergreen bushes in the front of the house, broken the railroad ties and crushed my hostas! This time I lost it and called the police. Someone had seen it and reported it to the township. The "manager" was driving by just as I was talking to the officer, and I showed her the damage. She got on the phone and called the people who were supposed to be taking care of my "little" problem and they were going to replace the bushes and repair the rest. The rest of the day, she and I (luckily I'd taken the day off), her girls and a man driving a really big machine cleaned up the debris. That's when I found out that the phone man had been there the day before but hadn't done anything.

Back on the phone...I'm using minutes on my Tracfone like crazy and running out! Excuse from both companies is that I have to be home. I told the phone company that I'd just have to switch companies...but decided to let Mediacom have their day, which was Friday.

Friday, day 4...

I've been busy all day here at dA. Did get the new journal up at *Ultra-Fractal Somehow managed to lose it twice...the second time it was really gone! Luckily I have a Template for some of the journals and save stuff that I've already put in, so it was just a matter of recopying what I already had. Then adding the "goodies" later.

But I had to ask for money, and I hate doing that but I really can't afford to pay the Group's way too. And if Joel the BIG BOSS, really did offer us a $1 raise until negotiations were done, the Union screwed us to the wall. The upshot is I got a dime raise! I think I'll go work at McDonalds. The starting payscale sucks, but you get your dime raise twice a year instead of only once. I'd soon be making the same as I make now!

I upgraded my Firefox and found out that nothing is compatible. So I reinstalled and old v2 and now I have all the great scripts I lost!

I'm amazingly exhausted these days. Went up north to visit my son for the 4th and found pure chaos. His girlfriend's family has moved in with them (1 son with 2 dogs, and one daughter with 2 children) Then there are the 3 cats and dog that my son owns who live there. To top this merry mess off, she doesn't like animals! My dog is terrified of the oldest grandson, and supposedly bit him, but we didn't find a mark on him. The day of the picnic when the kids had all kinds of company, he sneaked in and let ReeRee out of her carrier, even though we had explained that she would feel safe in there with all the people around. My son and I were outside when all hell broke loose, and K found herself alone with food to put together and as she put it a hysterical boy and a hysterical dog. Poor thing almost had a breakdown right then and there.

Well we all got through it alive Even the little grandson who was sick until the day after the picnic.

But I have been falling asleep if I sit down for 5 minutes. It is a week later and I'm still doing it. Most annoying.

So if I seem like I'm not getting everything done like I should...that is why.

I'm so lucky!

This is an experimental journal using some of the scripts that our own *Velvet--Glove found. Now I'm sure that a lot of people already use these scripts, but this is my first stab at using them. If they work out with my journal... the Ultra-Fractal journal will be a breeze.

Once again, I have not much to say. I'm trying Opera's browser and half the stuff here at dA doesn't work the same. Well perhaps I should say everything but Chat is OK.

ReeRee ran away last week...don't worry it was only for a few hours.... She came back from her little jaunt exhausted, so breathless she couldn't lie down for a while. In fact if it wasn't for the cat looking for her I wouldn't have known exactly when she got back! She was too out of breath to bark.

I was lucky to have realized she was gone when I did. Those darn beagles follow their noses for miles sometimes. She could have gotten lost quite easily...or stolen. Beagles are prime dogs for theft around here. They are the right size for a house dog, have wonderful personalities, are good with kids...and last but not least (and maybe most importantly around here)...they hunt.

But there I was running around in the middle of the night in robe and slippers, screaming her name. I'm lucky the cops didn't pick me up.

Crazy old lady that I am.
