HA. I haven’t updated my journal since my finals.

So, I’ve seen a lot of people ranting or raving about the new layout on dA. To me, it’s like when my mom switches up the silverware drawers. I’ll be a little miffed about not knowing where to find the spoons for a few weeks, and probably go as far as to eat ice cream with my fingers in rebellion of not having said spoons, but I’ll eventually piece together where everything is and thus the excitement will end as the newness fades and I just get on with my life. These people quitting dA just because of a little thing like layout change is pretty wild. I’ve made some awesome friends on dA, I’m totally here to stay. For the art part though, I’m feeling kinda low about really doing…anything. Doodling my characters out is fun and all, but sometimes I just want to make something awesome. Something I can be totally proud of because I put more than a few hours into it. I guess I’m starting to miss schoolSHIT IT’S COME TO THIS.

So that subject kind of depresses me, anyone got any ideas on how to motivate/inspire a lazy ass? Moving on.

AJDKhfjkda I want to see Hellboy dos SOooOooOOOoOOOo badly but I only have enough money saved up for one movie and it’s under lock and key with a note that says “DO NOT OPEN UNTIL BATMAN” Which has become a good measurement of time. What?

Today I bit my lip, and it wouldn't stop bleeding for almost forty five minutes. I let it go after a while just waiting for it to clot. I went to dinner looking like I was punched in the mouth, I've never felt so alive.

Merry early Christmas to everyone, seeing as I will probably forget to write a new journal until then, I'll get that out of the way now. It seems I've lost my tablet pen, so don't expect anything outstanding from me art wise for a while. (Did you ever? Haha)

Seen some good things since the last update, here's what i recommend:

Watch Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Seriously. There is a reason so much fan art of that is popping up all over deviantart. It's amazingly epic. That BIIARU is one sexy beast-man.
Also, I've started a new series called Baccano! I'm only on episode 3, but it has been really outstanding so far. Gangsters, blood, gambling, trains, immortals, it's all so delicious.
Also Heroes. Damn you Heroes. Stop giving me a reason to love Monday nights.
DON'T watch the musical CATS, unless you want those catchy tunes set to T.S. Elliot poetry stuck in your head for-ev-ur.

Read Fight Club. More than just a movie, my friends. A really enthralling piece of work. Even though the 'big twist' I'm sure, has been spoiled for everyone, it's still a really really good read.
DONT read the note that's under your desk. No. Bad idea. It's not for you.

Well, happy late labor day weekend everybody! Mine was awful exciting, though I do believe I missed the point of the holiday for…I labored. Haha but work is work and money is money no matter what day it is, I’m just glad for the opportunity. We open on the 9th grand opening the 13th and I’m super excited about that. I can’t wait to shop! While I wasn’t working I was partying. And what better way to party than going to see three old guys sweat and wail? You know what I’m talking about. Rush, of course. You know, Geddy Lee, of Rush, of Salesmen? OF SALSEMEN! Rush came to Columbus and we just had to go see them. They always put on such an amazing show. Not to mention the night was perfect for rock, and I can’t remember if it was while Geddy shook my soul with his bass or while Neil beat it back into me with renewed vigor using his drums, but somewhere along the line I swear I had an out of body experience haha~! I got this fantastic shirt to remember the evening, and I’ve been so busy since then I haven’t really taken it off yet heh *smells bad*

In unrelated news: it’s been a long, long while since I’ve picked up an interest for a newer anime. WARNING- ANIME RETARDED RELATED I mean, everything new now-a-days is just so cookie cutter predictable I feel like I’m seven again, watching episodes of Pokemon at 8 in the morning (Shut up! Don’t tell me you didn’t do that either~!) I’m not a fan of Naruto, in fact I never really got past the first few episodes or manga books, never really interested me that much. I know, I know, you can all kill me now. Anyway, the point is, I’ve been introduced to a brand spanking new anime that I actually adore. It’s called Zombie Loan, and it came out in Japan in June of this year, so it’s fresh out of the anime house and fansubbed onto my (or rather my boyfriend’s) computer screen. And…I love it…I can’t quite explain why but it’s amazing. I want more. MORE! Draw it faster! Usually I wouldn’t like something like this, I mean it’s got pretty boys, girls in maid outfits, your standard ‘chibi’ outtake here and there, androgynous mystery characters (seriously, take a look at Yuuta [link] and tell me if it’s a boy or a girl, I’ll wait………Did you see? It’s a boy by the way.) And it’s sprinkled with your occasional yaoi and yuri. Why, WHY do I like it? Because it also has zombies, murder, an interesting story concept, pretty boys, it makes me laugh, and sprinkled with the occasional yaoi and yuri.

So I’ve been a bit of a ghost lately, letting the messages just pile up in my inbox on every site I lurk. There is a rather long and complex reasoning for this, so to spare you hellish details and bloody imagery; I will deliver unto you the ‘short version’. The facts being, nothing short of miracles have happened in the past week. First of all, I managed to procure employment. MANDAZ GOT A JOB. And it is backbreaking work, let me tell you. The store has yet to open so it’s mostly stocking, but that’s some hard work. If anyone’s interested in visiting me and you live close to the area, I work at Michael’s arts and crafts store up in the Highlands on Cabela Drive (If you live anywhere remotely close you will know what I’m talking about) The store opens September 13th I think…and I only work weekends, come by some art supplies, people!

Shortly after I nabbed this job I went on a small vacation, pick up some clothes for the school season, but that’s boring news lets skip that. The more important part of that sentence was the word ‘school’ which I have finally made it to. College! Isn’t that exciting? My first class starts at one, so I’m just lounging around until then. I’ve been placed on the 4th floor of a dorm with no elevator, so you can imagine how hellish it was to get the TV up here. There is also no AC, so I have three fans pointed right in my direction at all times. It is insanely hot. No roommate yet, but I always have room for one. If by some off chance a West Lib girl comes across this, I totally have a room open.

So there you have it, internet wise I’ve been too busy to be on for too long, art wise I’ve been very uninspired. Maybe it’s the heat. Hmm I need to use the restroom, but I’m a bit intimidated by the public bathrooms…

Tomorrow (or, today rather, it is close enough) Marks the anniversary of my birth. 18 years ago, my mother was in a hospital room, being body slammed by a nurse with a death wish in order to pop out the 8 pound deviant that is me. Nine months prior, she was at a Grateful Dead concert, having the time of her life.

I'm very excited to be 18, it feels like such a milestone, of course, so did 16 and 13 and 8... Oh well, there will still be celebration!

However, when you search the FAQ I've found that it will be happy to tell you how to use Subscriber only features but there really is nothing for us regular users to know. Just sit down, shut up, and enjoy your free image hosting site. As you can see, the only real nifty thing i can do it link to things in journals And, if you've taken the time to read this you know how terribly offended i am. Money will get you everywhere. It will even make you more popular with the ladies and gentlemen on the internet when they see how cool your journal is. Once again, i am terribly offended.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m on all hung up on those things (though they do make me feel special) but comments and faves are a reflection of who likes my work and what they like about it, right? Maybe I never really improved at all. I’m still pumping out meaningless pencil doodles for the sake of drawing. Oh well. I rarely ever seriously ‘delete’ anything from my gallery; I just move it all to scraps. If you dig deep enough you can find the very first picture I ever scanned into the computer. It was of some sort of elf swordsman guy haha.

2] How did you get the name?
My boyfriend has a bit of a speech impediment haha. Just kidding.

3] Do you use PC or Mac?
PC, though I have heard good things about the Mac…hmm…

4] What software you use most often?
To Art: Photoshop, constantly
Other: I have a SNES Emulator to play Super Mario RPG and I listen to music on my Windows Media Player

5] Do you use mouse, or tablet?
Tablet when I feel like not being so lazy, though recently I haven’t felt up to doing much with it. Using the mouse is a bit too hard for doing things though D:

6] The color you use most often is?
That’s a hard one, I use a lot of colors in everything…White I guess, simply because it’s my excuse for a background.

7] What area of the pictures do you put most effort into?
Recently, the faces. I want my characters to seem more animated. All together though I’d have to say the anatomy.

8] How long does it take you to draw a picture?
Eh, it depends. Usually it can flow out of me in under 30 minutes, though if I want it to look good I spend a lot more time focusing on details.

9] Do you keep your rough drafts?
Sometimes I think those look the best…

10] What kind of font do you use most often?
Arial or Times New Roman haha, whatever is default.

11] What's the dpi when you scan?
Uhh 300…I think?

12] Do you do anything else when you're drawing pictures?
Write, usually in the Utopia RP or a school essay.
Play videogames, I’m all about my Pokemon Ruby on my SP at the moment, but I’ve asked for Diamond and a DS for my birthday <3.

Anywhere between 2 and 40 it depends on how inspired I am.

14] What kind of paper do you draw your pictures on?
Regular ol’ printer paper. Though if I want to make it good I have some watercolor paper in the reserves

15] What kind of paper do you use for sketches and drafts?
Printer paper, I can fill up an entire page with crap haha

16] How long does it take to ink something?
Not long, about 45 minutes if I’m careful…

17] Do you do doujinshi or original manga?
Everyone wants me to, but I just…am too lazy…

18] Do you like doujinshi? Is it fun making it?
I’ve never been one for making fan art; I’d like to be respected for making my own works, even though that’s a little harder to do. But I do like reading them every so often! Any kind of comic really, comics are my drug.

19] Ever submitted anything to a magazine?
No, I’m not confident enough in my work to submit it to anything seriously

20] Did it get published?
Haha, Nope!

21] Who are your favorite artists?
This list will be too long to be held on the internet, so I’ll just throw out a few.
Manga Artists:
Kazuya Minekura: Saiyuki is my absolute favorite manga. I love her character designs, story concepts, and overall beautiful artwork.
Kubo Tite: Bleach inspires me a lot. The interesting character designs and colorful EVERYTHING just makes me want to draw.
Yuichi Kumakura: Responsible for King of Bandit Jing. Just…ahhh there’s nothing I can say about this series without getting all giddy and reading it over. Please, if you pick up a comic, go for Jing, it’s…amazing <3 <3 <3
Other Artists:
Brian Froud: Come on. This guy has Labyrinth AND Dark Crystal under his belt.

artistunwanted : well, i was in a survival horror game
artistunwanted : it was very similar to 'the room'
artistunwanted : First off, i was traveling in complete darkness
artistunwanted : and all of a sudden there was a beckon from the sky
artistunwanted : and an embroidered chest rose out from under the light
artistunwanted : i opened it, and inside was a gun
artistunwanted : there was a random person standing next to me, he seemed really nervous and asked "Is it okay to steal from god?"
artistunwanted : and i said "To do what i have to, yes"
artistunwanted : then the chest sunk back into the darkness
artistunwanted : and i woke up in the middle of a church sermon, gun in hand
artistunwanted : after the sermon, i walked to the upper levels of the church, and came to an apartment door
artistunwanted : it was a dusty grey apartment, with no lights except for what came through the windows
artistunwanted : First place i went to was the bedroom, which had a walk-in closet
artistunwanted : i went in there, snooped around, found a journal
artistunwanted : the journal had a detailed list of what spirits haunted the room, and how the ghost of the original owner of the room would never be freed until these spirits were purged
artistunwanted : so, i had to exorcize all of the ghosts in order
artistunwanted : the first few were minor, like, the television would do that whist noise thing and i'd see faces
artistunwanted : so i just shoot the screen, demon purged
artistunwanted : curiously, all of the ghosts went into the closet when i got rid of them
artistunwanted : so uhh, i didn’t go back into that fucking closet

artistunwanted : i remember one ghost actually haunted the closet, she apparently was a pervious person who tried to save the apartment and failed
artistunwanted : she looked like a little girl, but she was in the middle of a tornado of blood...if that makes sense
artistunwanted : i don’t remember how i got rid of her
artistunwanted : i think i just shot her...i think that's how i got rid of all of them, just put a few bullets into them
artistunwanted : a few required me to solve riddles to get to them, like i had to answer these weird questions to get into the bathroom where another spirit was
artistunwanted : as i got rid of more, the spirits became harder to get rid of, and more malevolent
artistunwanted : there were only two more spirits to go before i had purged the entire room
artistunwanted : one was called the juggernaut...don’t laugh

artistunwanted : with screws in his body
artistunwanted : and he just wouldn’t go down, no matter how many times i shot him
artistunwanted : finally...i ran out of bullets
artistunwanted : so i rushed back to the bedroom and hid, he was slow and blind
artistunwanted : in the bedroom i found my saving grace, a sledgehammer
artistunwanted : so i grabbed it and walked out of the room
artistunwanted : but he was gone
artistunwanted : i figured maybe the bullets got to him
artistunwanted : but then he got to me
artistunwanted : and everything went black again

I haven't had the will to draw anything lately, and i think my mind is sick and tired of my laziness, for it presented me with an amazing dream last night, which i am too lazy to write word for word, so here's a summary i wrote to my friend this morning:

artistunwanted: okay, uhm...lemme try to remember
artistunwanted: there’s this little girl
artistunwanted: she's a dark little thing, wears raggedy clothes has raggedy hair, very pale and very quiet, like a ghost but she isn’t...like a homeless person! This little girl somehow meets a personified Death and becomes friends with him
artistunwanted: Death is pretty short, just a little taller than me but would most def be shorter than you, he wore a black hoodie with the hood up so you couldn't see his face. Just, causal clothing, but it was like...part of him, and every so often it seemed to melt or become smoke and drift off...i dunno Death looked odd

artistunwanted: for some odd reason, this little girl had a horrible grudge against a random man. This guy didn't seem evil at all, just a man who lived out his days like a boring human should. He walked a lot, i remember that he was always walking somewhere, and he always seemed to be alone

artistunwanted: So death and the girl followed the man and began to torture him and mind fuck with him, at first it was small things like making him trip or pushing him, then they started to cut him and push him out into traffic. Needless to say, the dude became a bit paranoid

artistunwanted: they would write him threatening messages in the street, kill cats and smear the blood down his usual walking paths. By the way, the man can't see death, but he could see the girl, she just kept well hidden
artistunwanted: Now, Death had a fondness for the color orange and all orange things. Death tells the little girl to remember 'carrot juice' as it is one of the most important things in the living world
artistunwanted: Death has his own world too, which looks just like the living world except it is entirely void of all life, everything has an orange hue, and it constantly snows but is never cold

artistunwanted: The little girl can't see his world unless he allows her, but since she hangs out with Death so much that it sometimes flashes for her without him willing it
artistunwanted: In the end, the little girl and Death are finally ready to kill the man
artistunwanted: They sit in an old abandoned shed that is right across from the man's house. There is a large window where they can watch him from. Death and the girl are sitting at a picnic table like thing in the house, but that's the only furniture
artistunwanted: oh, also, keep in mind that throughout the entire thing the little girl is vengeful, energetic, and very expressive at times, especially when they torture the man, she laughs and smiles just like a little girl should. But death is completely void of emotion; he speaks to the girl in a monotone voice, never shows emotion, always casual and doesn't seem to feel anything
artistunwanted: while in the house and waiting for the man to come back from his walk, death gives the girl a glass of carrot juice and they share it. The girl doesn’t like it very much, but drinks it anyway to please her friend
artistunwanted: The girl starts to hear loud noises and Death's world begins to flash every now and then, only it's very very orange and the snow has become a blizzard. Death lets out the only emotional phrase in the entire dream. He jerks back a bit, gasps and says "Uh-oh"

artistunwanted: the girl thinks about it for a moment, and finally answers 'no' because she's fucking friends with Death

artistunwanted: The door is ripped from the hinges and in comes this huge fucking mass of flesh and metal and ugly. Think like...pyramid head only more industrial and bigger
