I've recently been in a serious art slump with nothing to draw, aside from the birthday gifts I owe, the art trade I've yet to start on -shot-, and the webcomic pages I need to finish... BUT! I feel the urge to design characters. My brothers had come up with an idea to design an RPG. Not an ACTUAL game because they were not video game designers. They merely designed characters and drew out scenes from the RPG according to events of the "game" they talked out.

For anyone who's been in a forum roleplay, whether on Gaiaonline or an acornrack site, the idea is to go about this roleplay through picture form. First, we design the characters, putting in the artist description their essentials. Then, once characters are designed, you pick another person's character and draw out a scene between the characters with a short description about what's going on. In short, it's a game of tag. I draw a scene, someone else responds with a different scene, I respond to that scene, so on and so forth.

Yeah, I know - kinda lame. >w< But it's a good way to get out of an artist slump and stimulates you to go beyond your normal artistic limits. Ya know - forcing you to draw backgrounds and perspective and character interaction. It's a fun project, I've done it in small scale with friends. Of course, the key to this is to note the person you're responding to with the link to the scene you made so they don't go oblivious to your input. >w<

YEAH. Crappy idea, but meh. =w= Might catch on, might just die in a gutter. Anyone interested?

HOMFG HOMFG HOMFG HOMFG HOMFG! -comic nerd flail- I went and saw the new Incredible Hulk movie and it was AWRSOME! Dx I liked it loads better than the first, anyhow. There was CG up the ying-yang, but the reason I liked it so much better was because they took so many things from the old Hulk TV series. xDD Like the opening scene from the old movie (as well as the opening theme) and there was even a moment where the ending theme song was played. xDD I about LOLed my pants right then and there.

AND HOMFG! The guy who played the Hulk in the TV series (the biggun' who was painted green) is in the movie. xDD He's a security guard, but he's still fupping huge. This guy is like BAM BAM! GUNS! I loled. =w= ANYWAY! The SciFi chanel was having a marathon this week showing a bunch of the old Hulk programs. >w< I watch many of them - and then laugh at the cheesyness.

ANYWAY! I think I fail at this marathon thing. =__= I'm just not able to pump out things daily like some people can - I'm slow and I tend to have real life get in the way.... a lot. Like having to convince my father three or four times a day that yes - he is indeed in his own house and, no - my brothers are not here anymore. They're both out of the country. BUUUUT he's a kick for shits and giggles cuz he's crazy and a grumpy bear. =3=

I'm almost done with about two of the prize prints I'll be offering at this years Metrocon. A good friend of mine, , asked me to make prize art for the Risembool Rangers panel (please check it out if you're a fan of Vic Mignogna and are going to Metrocon! :'B ) If you're interested in finding out more of the Vic fanclub, the Risembool Rangers, please contact for information on the Rangers website.

The idea for the prizes was to make art of characters voiced by Vic Mignogna, i.e. Vega from Streetfighters, Viral from.... some anime I can't remember the name of, Fai from Tsubasa Resevoir Chronicles, and, of course, Edward Elric from Full Metal Alchemist. I'm debating on which other character to draw, because I want to make five prints. SO! I'm putting it up for debate for my viewers!

I wish I could make a poll because I'd put it up, but I can't, SO - by way of comments. Shout out (type in bold) which character you want me to draw in the fifth print and the most votes gets the win! Duh.

I'm currently joined in on a 30-Day art marathon held by - a new picture every day for 30 days. =[]=; So far, I only have up one, but I've finished Day 2. I fell asleep at 9:00 last night waiting for my mom to get off the phone with our relatives in Puerto Rico. @____@ -fell asleep to the Colbert Report, surprisingly enough- I woke up at 2 in the morning and was all, "=____=;;;..... Hell no I'm not dealing with my slow-arse internet."

So, here I am, at school, wishing I'd put that picture on my flash drive so I could've come to school and uploaded it here. Buuut I didn't. << So, there. I'll put it up when I get home. I've gotta finish Day 3.

Hopefully, I'll be able to make it a oekaki. I've just discovered the magic of Google site translations -slow- and so I used it to translate [link], a site introduced to me through the wonderful art of . My internet makes it lag just a little bit, but I'm gonna register and upload my pictures on that site, so I can put 'em on dA. << There's no guarantee it'll come out fabulous - I kinda suck at oekaki. I waited too late to reserve a booth in Artist's Alley this year, but it doesn't bother me much - I didn't have much ready anyway. Next year. A friend of mine offered to make the site layout for me, but she's super loaded with her own schooling. I'm an art contest junkie and I know it. DDx Every time I see the word "contest" I jump at the chance to join. @__@ Maybe it's a weird thing I've got where I have to prove myself to... myself. xD I 'unno. But I've had to withdraw from a few contests because I have poor time management skills and tend to always fall asleep when I need to be doing something else. <<;;;

;^; Oh, woe is me! -shot by own characters and told to shut-up- =[]=;; This is mutiny, I say!... And none of my characters even care. e___e Especially the vampires.

ANY WHO! I've been asked by a friend to do the art for his manga story, but I fear I won't be able to make any progress with it because how busy I am. I haven't even been able to start work on my own manga, despite the long hours of rough-sketching the page layouts on my notes in class. DDx I might have to turn him down if things keep up. (Sorry, Ricky. ;^; )

And on top of that, I've been down in the dumps. A good friend of mine passed away and it cut me deep when I found out. I feel guilty that I haven't mourned him properly (at least to my standards), but I can't afford to mope. So don't be surprised if I put up some tribute art again. ._. I didn't think I'd have to make two.

BUT. Thanks to my lovely friend , I can borrow her photoshop program when she gets it to put it on my mac. =w= She's such a good friend. <33 I'm also borrowing some basic software from another underclassman friend of mine. I'm going to miss them all when I graduate. ;A;

I did a picture while at the con and colored it with the markers. Dx It's amazingful if I do say so myself. Especially considering it was my first time using copics. Maybe using prisma markers gave me some practice. o_o; But I need to find out how to refill them. Dx If I order in advanced from the website, I get a discount. I need more colors. I only have five, not counting my colorless blender. But I want some in a dropper to test out a coloring style with copics I saw in a Japanese manga artist book I've got.

Copics are my love. Dx I'm going to turn my last pic into a print for Metrocon one I make decent copies. A convention friend of mine, whom I so lovingly call Duo-chan, made a most curious observation about it. It looks like the female version of Marluxia from Kingdom Hearts. xDDD I had no intention of making it look so, but I guess the pink-ish hair, all the roses and vines, and the heart-key made it look that way. All my pics come out looking like someone. DDDx

Anyways, once I get a decent scan of it, I'll upload it and I'll be selling prints. Once I get my paypal set up. <<;

I BSed my Government exam - I've got a good grade in that class so I didn't really need to pass the exam to pass her semester class. I really needed to wind down after the exams and so I went to my friend's house and relaxed with and - I finally got to watch Jungle Book! I almost cried when I thought Baloo was dead. ;~;

Aside from that, Anime South is looming around the corner - next Friday, to be exact. I can't wait. I've decided to add to my list of prints for selling and include a series of FF7-Advent Children book marks. I'll include some fuller-sized prints as well, probably working off of the bookmark to limit time. @__@ Then I have to finish my Naruto Requiem series and the Bleach portrait set. @______@

I fail at math. ;~;

If that doesn't bite my cookie, there's still the matter of the ever-looming college application and applications for financial aid. My mom's barking down my neck to hurry and apply and I don't blame her. DDx (I'll be doing that after this rant, by the way. <.<; )

And if that's not enough, I'm also rushing to make all the prints and bookmarks to sell at Metrocon 2008. Dx I know that sounds far off, but I am a SLOW artist. o_o;; I mean slow slow. SNAIL slow. Snails in slow-motion slow. Hell, I'm not even moving I'm so slow. DDx I haven't even reserved a booth in the Artists' Alley, nor have I even gotten the ticket for that. I'm currently stressing over Anime South, even though I'm only going to scope out sales possibilities there. (And maybe some shameless self-promotion. ○_O )

All this mid-term, college, and sales stress is wearing me thin. ._. It's making me wonder whether or not I can hack it in the proffessional business. I really, really, REALLY want to get one of my comic pitches out there because that's what I want to do. o_o No matter what people may say about it, I'd rather work doing something I love and not have all the money in the world instead of slaving away at a job I hate just to make end's meet. I'm not exactly getting support on the parental end. <.<; And I just fail at school. DDx

the basics

write a christmas/holiday wish list. it can be any 10 wishes you'd like to have granted, no matter what they are. possible or seemingly impossible. people look and grant the wishes if they can. it's not about "OMFG PRESENTS!?" it's about making someone else's holiday a little brighter by giving.

step one

make a post in your journal. the post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. the wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fun, to medium, to really big ("all I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") the important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

if you wish for real possible things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your journal, so that others can join in and participate to spread the holiday joy!


step two

surf around your friend list to see who has posted their list. and now here's the important part..

if you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use -- or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred basset hound for free -- do it.

you needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. That's not how you spell it, is it? Ah, oh well - too lazy to spell check.

Because I'm such a horrible procrastinater, a friend and I decided that we'd apply together. We're going to the same school anyways. A local university - Florida State University. Different majors and stuff, of course, but we were both pretty lost and, as they say, two heads are better than one.

So, I was in a quandery for the longest time about which school to apply to. I knew I wanted to go somewhere local so I wouldn't have to worry about rediculous out-of-state tuition. Georgia was out of the question - everything's overpriced there and I'm usually always low on cash. So, I put my dreams of going to SCAD aside. (Sorry SCAD enthusiasts! <3 )

Then there was Full Sail. Ha. It is to laugh. That school is equally expensive, though close to where my godparents live. I've heard some rumors about Full Sail and I didn't want to take the chance with all the money I'd be investing in it.

I did the next best thing - I researched FSU. It's strange because I usually parade around school declaring my profound hatred for the school's football team, despite the fact that I hated American football in general. I loved the Florida State Gators, however - they have orange in their colors. I'm down with the orange. TwT

However, upon digging deeper into what FSU had to offer, I discovered that their art program was, in a word - amazing. I practically drooled at what they had to offer. Aside from art, they had many different prospective majors, including criminology and even marine crimonology (diving for smoking guns and severed limbs and what not.) With an extensive list of impressive majors, it was needless to say I had a hard time picking something out.

Oh, the wonders of the internet.

They had a wonderfully convenient list of majors - CLICAKBLE majors. And so I clicked. Graphic Design sounded more like advertising and making tea-cozies for Russian conglomerates, so I skipped it and moved to a more interesting topic - Studio Art. Reading through what it had to offer, I became a bit miffed. My highschool offered studio art, but I turned it down in favor of AP Drawing Portfolio because I assumed that DRAWING Portfolio meant any form of drawing. But, no - it's just traditional media.

Yeah. I was pissed. My teacher didn't tell me until I spent good quality time on a photoshop painting to turn in to him.

Without sidetracking my point by wondering if it's too late to switch out now, I'll continue. Ignoring horrible SAT scores, I chose Studio Arts and Design for a major, absolutely LOVING the fact that students in for their BFA and MFA degrees get studio space of their own, as well as access to a 24-hour lab with the latest software. I'm a sucker for a computer with Photoshop CS3 in it.

At the moment, however, I'll have to pause my dreams of my very own studio and unlimited software access. I need to get letters of recommendation first, don't I? Aha - I knew it. While I coherce my teachers into providing me with those letters, I'll start saving up for that laptop FSU requires Design students to have. They even provided a guide line for what they're looking for!

I'll get it - don't worry.

Almost forgot how fun traditional media can be. Dx Makes me a sad panda. Now I know how all these frickin' traditional artists are so good - they love what they're working with.

I think I like it more because I can be messy with it. =w= With paint, I can walk away from a project looking like a rainbow grease-monkey. I can't wipe off a li'l smudge of cobalt blue when I'm having-at with my tablet and photoshop. Photoshop pens don't leave pretty little stains on your fingers when they bleed out the grips.

When I get around to attacking my friend's scanner and camera, you're all going to get a nice dose of spam from be cuz I'll be tossing up loads of traditional art deviations. =3=

I'm currently working on a large acrylic painting on canvas matte-board. It's of a futuristic city-scape and it's looaads of fun. =w= Until I remember how much a pain perspective is. I also have to find a huge surface to paint on. o_O 2x4 feet, I think.

Okay, maybe it's not THAT huge, but it's the largest I've ever worked. My portfolio teacher is pushing for me to work bigger. =[]=;; And since my concentration is going to be around urban scenes (a chance for me to work on people, animals, and backgrounds at the same time) I'll have to figure something out.

Okay, that's one area of business. Another is this. I finally stumbled upon the web-comic site for 's webcomic, Fungus Grotto. Amazing story and amazing art, of course. I love her style and her coloring most of all. ; 3; Wish I could get that good. <333

Anywho, finding that website of hers has just reminded me of my own endeavor - trying to make a website of my own to host a comic that I've been trying and trying to get off the ground. It's probably gonna be short lived, or maybe turned into a mini-series, but screen-toning it has taken a large tole on yours truly and so I decided to simply color it in gray-scale. (But, thus the problem of me being properly computer-less rears its ugly head.) Anywho, if anyone knows of a website I can go that would be able to host a web-comic, please tell me. I'm gonna be making a lot of floral brushes. =w=;; And some lunar/solar-ish brushes. I'll put them up in a pack or something. =w=;;

And so one thing that's really pissing me off about my AP portfolio class? My art teacher mentions NOTHING about digital art in a drawing portfolio until I have like half of my assignments for this grading period done IN PHOTOSHOP. Dx And then, when I turn in my emotive self portrait piece, he says it won't count for my portfolio because it's digital. What the hell? DDDx It's drawing and applying colors as if with traditional media, only replicating with digital.

This wouldn't bother me so much if it weren't for the fact that he KNEW that's exactly the type of field I want to major in. And he called my style cliche last year. e_e I don't know about you, but I don't like having my style being called cliche. Dx He says it falls in with the anime style. I say anime and comic books are a GENRE, because no two artist draws the same.

Unless you count the little anime-hopefuls who copy every detail in style of their favorite artists. e_e Which is SOOO NOT ME. DDx

I say my style is a mix if comic with Japanese influence and realism in the way I color. I worked long and hard for my entire life to come up with a style of my own and I didn't do it just to have it be called cliche by some dictating art teacher who doesn't let his students have any freedom with creating their own styles in his class. Dx

Yes, that's right. T_T And I'm sure the other students in his class will agree (in fact, several already have). He tells us to make our own style yet every time we try it, he shoots us down, even if that style or piece is original and unique.

Though I need to make more variety for prints and finish Vic Mignogna prize series for the Risembool Ranger panels at next year's Metrocon. Dx I printed out the Fai picture and it looks EW in large size, so I'm going to fix it up a bit and reprint. It's ew. Dx

Anyways, if my brother hadn't sold the PSP he got, I would be able to get Kingdom Hearts: Birth of Sleep, which is for the PSP. Evidently, that one's the true sequel - more like prequel, actually. The game takes place before Sora's era, back in the days when there were multiple "keyblade masters" around the world. There are two new characters in this one - a dude what looks like Roxas and a guy what looks like Zack from Final Fantasy VII in baggy pantaloons.

The mobile KH game is called Kingdom Hearts Coded, but I'm not too interested because my cell phone is retarded and crappy and if I got KH on it it might die. Dx

The one I'm really excited about is Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. Funky title, I know. But, I like it probably the best because it focuses on the Organization and you get to play Organization members. It's also multi-player. As far as I know, up to four players, I think. There's single-player mode, too. There's also a new Organization member - XIV. It's definitely a female, though. Not Nomine, I think. =[]=; Hope not.

I also got around to scanning the line-art for the fan-art thing 's having for her comic, RE: Play, which is amazing. Dx <333333 I drew Rail because Rail is hawt and deserves to be drawn. @w@

I even made a crown for me and my friend, ! ='D That's a thing seniors at my school do for pep-rally days - we get card-board crowns from Burger King and paint them up. xD Only seniors wear them. =3= It's an unwritten rule that freshmen and underclassmen get their hands chopped off for touching a senior's crown.

(That's a lie, but it'd be funny. xD)

Until the first grading period, that is. =[]=;

Well, nothing much else to say except I'm feeling pretty good. Everything in working order? -checks limbs- Yup. =[]=

I still haven't found my driver CD. ;-; And I'm starting to think it was on the CD with Coral Painter Essentials, which I let borrow to a friend who has yet to return it. Dx But, that's okay - I'm downloading the driver from the WACOM website at long last, and I was rubbish with Coral Painter, though it doesn't mean I wouldn't want it back.

Oh, yeah! ='D Work load just got a bit lighter!
I finished three of the four direct observation pieces for my art class and I'm just lazy enough to not do the fourth one. =[]=; But, that would bring down my grade, so I'm gonna manage a quickie pic on photoshop once my driver loads and then print it out at school. Or turn it in late. o_O;;

And, then I got two of my Vic Mignogna prize series pictures done. Wilhelm from Xenosage (c) Namco and Fay D. Flourite from Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicles (c) CLAMP. I was thinking of doing Dark Mousy next, but his hair hates me. Dx

And I'm still working on those pixel IDs for plus an art trade with one of her friends, who also wants a pixel ID. -gonna die of pixels soon-

So, this is my work-load. o_O

1.) Finish the last direct observation piece for AP Portfolio, plus the rest of the sketches for my sketchbook.

got me a purdy butterfly pendant. =3= Mad loff for her. >3< I'm going on muh birfday with and to the movies. Chances are we'll have to watch the new Mr. Bean movie. xDDD But we get to hang out afterwards, so that's good enough for me. =^^=

Because I was there in my spankin' new red and white polka-dot skirt and shoes. =3= Oh, yeah - I went there. I was super happy to see all my old friends again that I haven't seen over the summer. Really surprised to see that some of them really changed - shorter hair, new hair color, tattoos, piercings, bawlin' clothes. The whole shibang.

But, it was fun seeing everyone and visiting the teachers I had last year that I thought were just the bomb-diggidy-bomb like my old anatomy and physiology teacher, Mr. Johnson. He hasn't changed - maybe his hair got longer. Last I heard, he was gonna grow it out, cut it off, and donate it to locks of love.

He's such a cowboy hippie. xD

I even got to see some of my senior friends who graduated already! They came back to visit during lunch and after school and it was amazingful because I rock like that and they rock like that.

So many freshmen, too. @___@ I swear, they're gettin' smaller and smaller. Some of them look killer, though. Like, seriously. There are some FOINE freshmen this year. >< Damn. If only they were a few years older, eh?

Already got lots of stuff to take care of first day, but that's normal. =3=
