Ok, you guys. The holidays are coming up. I'd love to say this is a great time to do Christmas shopping by commissioning me, but I have to announce that as of December 1st, I will not be accepting any more commissions until January. So if you would like to commission anything, do it now, because I am going to be far to bogged up with art and work in December to accept anything new.

In good news, however, the November sale is 50% off everything.
In further good news, I literally have a stack of items ready to be scanned and touched up. I will try to dissolve that stack as steadily as possible.

Halloween Picture 2009

...It's September. And that means obsessing over my annual group picture.

Now, mostly I get them done in time, because mostly I start in August. Mostly they are furry. And mostly, they include 6 of my characters (Zach, Lela, Seraph, Savannah, Sahara, and Sierra) wearing that year's chosen costumes and standing shoulder to shoulder in a line. They are also mostly in the landscape orientation.

I just finished the rough for this year's groupie (bald, naked, and lazy).
I am using 13 of my characters. And they are all human. It is in a portrait orientation, and they are NOT just standing there, shoulder to shoulder. In fact, only one person is even in a normal standing pose at all.
I am fucking insane.
But I entirely plan on getting it all wrapped up in time for Halloween. Entirely.

In case you were curious, the line-up will consist of the usual six plus 7 more; Zach, Lela, Seraph, Savannah, Sahara, Sierra, Vector, Cheyanne, REL, Dominique, Tuyen, Matthieu, and Julias.

I have no fucking idea how I'm going to choose costumes for all 13 of those bitches. I have a hard time choosing a different costume every year just for my traditional 6.

Downloaded+installed the newest driver for my tablet. Restarted computer. Still lags too much for Photoshop, disconnects from cursor in Gimp, doesn't read completely in Tegaki E.
=/ I am cursed by the choices of never doing digital art ever, buying a newer, better quality tablet, or paying for Paint Tool SAI.

Or doing oekaki art for the rest of fracking forever, which I do not approve of, as all of my digital art consists of sketches or inked pics in a traditional fashion, and coloring using the multipy layer setting.

...I guess I could also try getting a damned better version of Photoshop than Elements 4.0, too. T_T

EDIT: Yeeeeah, even Shipainter has stopped working effectively with my tablet. I do not know how to even deal with this but I am so pissed.

I'm desperately trying to be positive, guys. It really hurts to have to leave these feelings behind, and I just want to keep it in my heart and feel this way forever, but if I'm just going to grow up no matter what I do, and this will someday just be a memory even if I never want it to die, I might as well try my best to get better. I know I can't just get over what's happened to me this week, and it's going to take time. But I'm really trying.
To those I owe commissions: I'm so sorry you have to deal with the delay this is going to bring you. But I just can't bring myself to work on art for other people if I feel so torn up or ill that I can't put my best effort and love into your work. I promise you you'll get your art, and it will be full of the passion and hard work you paid for, but I just need a little time to heal, and vent, and get these horrible feelings out, or else the apathy and hurt will only show up in your pictures and I just won't have that happen to your art. Please forgive the delay, and thank you so much for being understanding and supportive.

Got Pageviews Project

Hey DeviantART, do you need more pageviews?

Do you want to get your name out for people to see in as many ways as possible? Does nobody know who you are or what you do? Do you have an impressive stamp dedicated to yourself?

Well, DUH, of COURSE you don't have one! No one likes you, right?
Make one.
That's right, make a support stamp for yourself. At minimum, it should have a piece of your strongest or favorite artwork in your gallery, even if it isn't your most popular. At best, it should include your favorite work AND your DA username in text that can clearly be read at the size of the stamp, without obscuring the picture.

What's gonna happen once you make one? You're going to note me to it, and I'm going to put it in my footer. I'm going to link to this project in my signature and possibly make a news article regarding it. That way, every time someone sees my journal, they'll see a stamp with one of your best pieces in it. If it catches their attention, they'll click it. Easy publicity.

The only catch? You must have under 50,000 pageviews in order for me to put your stamp in my footer, and you must make the stamp yourself. And these won't be in the jungle I call a shoutbox, obscured by funny or silly stamps, it'll be like a little gallery in my journal just dedicated to underappreciated artists here at DA.

Don't have a subscripton? You can still make stamps, and I can still show them off for you.
Have 50k+ pageviews, but want to get involved? Post the thumbnails in your journal! I'll make a special sidesection on my userpage with the code for all of the stamps I get, set up so you can simply copy+paste into your header or footer.
Have more than one favorite piece to show off? Animating the stamp to show 3 or 4 different pieces at a 5 to 8 second speed is a great way to show off more than one piece.

Also, spread the news of this, guys. I want as many up-and-coming artists as I can find to sponsor in my featurette. And if you can sponsor them, too, do so! It will be a great help!

Downloaded Paint Tool SAI. I like it. It doesn't lag like photoshop, and pen pressure is (sporadically) compatible with my tablet there. And also layers.

But the difference in pen pressure and how hard I have to draw, even changed by one factor, is huge in SAI. It's going to take some reluctant getting used to, but maybe once I do, you'll see more digital art?

Of Lateness

I have a new desk. I put 87% of it together myself. My brother helped 3% and my dad helped 10% (some parts broke and he fixed it, making it stronger than it would have been originally).

My neck/back is killing me. I was supposed to get a massage today after I bought/put together the desk, but things got started later than I planned/shit broke.

What's worse is I'm sleeping on the couch tonight DX

Color coded rainbow everything. My mice in plain, unhindered sight, with their food and shit actually in reach, in a convenient location. A bowl of individually wrapped candies. A minifridge inside a cabinet in plain reach. White light producing lightbulbs in each lamp that surrounds me at various angles. Wall mounted surround sound. More USB ports. Bigger tabletop storage. Bigger scanner. Scanner in a location in which I don't have to get up and walk halfway across the room to use. Wall mounted backlit analog clock. A bookshelf that actually functions as a shelf that books will stay organized in. A better chair. Hollowed portion of desk area actually in sync with placement of laptop so as to not bump chair into desk everytime I sit down. A 12 pack of Root Beer (Barq's or Mug).

Things that would make my artistic life more appealing and less of a chore.

I've had a general feeling of loneliness and lack of motivation, with the occasional side effect of loss of interest in things I love here lately.
I blame being alone in my room all day.

I bought some mice a few weeks ago to try to remedy the loneliness (I used to keep bettas at my desk and watch them when I felt bored, but I never could take as much joy out of them as I wanted because interaction with fish is very limited), and the tiniest one, Artemis, has been brave enough that I can train her. So I saw she was up and about again while her two sisters slept and decided to play with her today.

She seemed to have a fascination with nibbling on my fingers today even when I had a sweet treat in my palm. It was cute. And she never bit hard enough to irritate me, just lightly chewed at my hand.

It made me feel a bit better. I still want to get out of the house, but it's nice not to be entirely alone.

I'm probably gonna wind up as one of those freaks who tries on clothes and asks their small pet which outfit looks better. I could never do that with my cat, lol. She gives me stupid looks.

Cats are so judgmental!

On a side note: It doesn't look like I'll be entirely without internet for the now, but my connection goes out without warning, and sometimes boots me off immediately after signing on again.

The next 100 non-commissioned pictures I draw (pictures sketched and inked before the 17th do not count) must have a background of some sort.

Not necessarily all atmospheric and full of dynamic angles and details, though I certainly plan on working myself up there along the line, but at simplest, a black bordered box with some sort of pattern in it. Solid colors and hatching doesn't count, simple patterns and backgrounds added digitally with basically a crapload of brush effects in them DO count.

So far I'm at 99, with this being number 1.

LOL I'M GOING TO PHAIL AT THIS LIKE 100 THEMES (which I'm not actually failing at because I have recently uploaded linearts that will, upon completion, be themes. OH.)

I think my YR23 (Yellow Ochre) copic has just kicked the bucket. Unfortunately, it was a little more important than my E71 (Champagne), which was replaced by 2 browns since that's all I generally used it for, my whatevernumber (Eggshell) which was too pale anyway and replaced by 3 different peach colors, and my BV23 (Grayish Lavender) which was a general grey, thus being replaced by every odd C copic from 1 to 7.

YR23 is the base color for Savannah, who can't just have orange as a base color, because it's too red and bright.
You can see the difference here:
YR23 (Yellow Ochre)
YR16 (Apricot)

I'd just go to Hobby Lobby (The ONLY Copic Vendor within 50 miles of my area) and get one, but it has a VERY limited number of Copic sketches, oranges not exactly being on that list, and they don't carry refills.
I am way too broke to afford buying them online.

Thus meaning from now on, pictures containing Savannah just CAN'T be colored with copics.

My micron is ALSO dieing.

God, I need a job, but I won't have time to tackle that until after Halloween.
