Of course, I'm particularly connected to this one, since it's my character (*cough*MarySue!*cough*) and Lord Vetinari of Discworld fame. EK has a talent for drawing these two semi-naked. Even though they aren't facing each other, it still seems like they're connected and saying a lot, even though the drawing makes them seem very still.

This is so sweet! EK did this for her sister's baby shower. People often ignore hand-made items and this is just so sweet that she drew this for her with such a cute phrase! Very sentimental and very much appreciated, I'm sure.

I've always loved this one, mostly because of its real-world connection- EK had her own art show which was amazingly cool! The dude on the poster is cool and freaky and the text works with it.

Even though this is Diana's ID, pretty much, this is one of my favorite deviations of hers. This looks so accidental, like this is a photograph that her great-grandchildren will pick up in years and years from now and wonder what she was thinking. Dreamlike, too, and it seems accidental and not contrived at all.

Diana's a My Little Pony artist, which is something that amazes me. She can take an ordinary pony and make it into something extraordinary. This girl fit everyone (and I mean -everyone-) from Harry Potter onto this pony and made it into a work of art!

Another MLP set, this one has beautiful, soft colors with a sweet Valentine's message. So sweet!

I thought I'd include a newer work while I'm at it! Drawn in her storybook, dream-like fashion, this is a gorgeous full-color picture of a "train of thought." She has an eye for detail, look at the picture and try to remember *everything* on there!

She said she had a dream about this house and I *love* when people use their dreams as artistic inspiration (I write down things from dreams all the time and even used *other* people's dreams for stuff.) She has a special way for making things look like a storybook and I really wonder who lives in that house!

So I've been behind on DA and even a bit on my email. Things are looking up, I started graduate school, which is pretty hot. And I might be going to visit ~Solyria next week, if my work schedule permits. I've also been helping my friend Susan plan her wedding, of which I'm her maid of honor. My mom and I have also started planning our next trip to England in 2010. I've really had the travel bug recently. Thankfully, my graduate courses are online, so I can take my studies on the road with me!

I've also seen some good movies lately- Revolutionary Road, The Unborn, and The Uninvited. The Uninvited was off the hook, the twist gave me chills.

I'm going to go back to typing my notes and seeing what I have to do for school this week. Have a nice day!

When I was little, I wanted to be a writer. I'm not a famous writer and I've never even had anything published, but I still write a lot. I work and study for a culinary career now but I still haven't given up on writing.

I love cooking and I love business. My brain was meant for organization and numbers. I want a nice job, one that's a result of hard work, but both of those things definitely aren't my life. I enjoy other things and my career just funds them.

I would like to write books for a living one day though.

We had an event at work that was the James Bond movie premiere. The writer (for the movie or Ian Fleming, I don't know) got cancer and was cured at Johns Hopkins, so he felt that he owed Baltimore something. Anyway, so Quantum of Solace premiered in New York, London, and Baltimore. XD The Marriott hosted the reception and all the girls got to dress like Bond girls and all the guys had white tuxedos!

It was exciting, even though I was just on the soup station. There was a woman dressed like Goldeneye (I think) who just stood on a table for a whole hour in various poses. It was insane!

Abby turned two, my sister turned 32. Their birthdays are a day apart. XD Today was Em's birthday but Abby had her party. Lou, Stasi, and I just pretty much ate for awhile, then ate again.

I have a new man! His name is Alfredo and he's from Honduras. He works at the Marriott with me but in the pastry shop. I'm always surprised with how easy it is to be with him. He's not jealous, he's not crazy, he lets me do my thing but loves being with me. He kinds of treats me like a princess, which I admit I love. I can't not admit it.

I love the way this is tilted and looks like a small chessboard, but in
real life, it's huge. The leaves also make it look surreal, almost like
a Dali painting.

Kim does a lot of pics of flowers and natural things, and they *always* have gorgeous lighting. This is a good example of what she does, and it's a pretty peach rose. I also think the border accentuates it well.

This is a really neat one that reminds me of I Spy. It feels a bit sinister, not on purpose, just because it's disjointed and has the feel that you're looking on someone's desk and about to find out a creepy secret. The colors are also work together, which makes it very pretty.

This was obviously going on here. XD I LOVE this one for several reasons. I *loved* The Truth and I *loved* the characters. I love that it's brightly colored, and I'm floored that someone could make something this *awesome* in Paint. I also love the headlines in the back. It's very creative and simple yet thought out.

This reminds of the Phantom (as in, of the Opera.) I think of the part in the book where he's telling Christine about writing his opera, and he says that he'd spend months working on it and rest for decades, or whatever. This poem reminds me of the innocent part of him. Anyway, it's pretty, even without the association.

I felt guilty because I didn't obtain permission from the actual artists, but then again I didn't say the characters were mine and I didn't make a profit off of it.

So anyway, the bottom line was that if I didn't get permission, it should not be a deviation. So I took it down, even though:

A.) Not every fan artist contacts each company for permission to use their characters. We all know that.
B.) I've seen blatant use of characters (for example, the most recent was Square's actual art of Rikku on a wallpaper or background or something), and we all know that these people did not obtain permission either.

So, really, I probably could have kept it up and no one would have known the difference, but my conscious was sort of eating me. But, I followed my instincts and went with my gut. After all, if I could draw, I don't know if I'd want people to be using my stuff without my permission. I'd want to know about!

Plus, I can turn this into a positive. This could give me a chance to speak with some artists. And that's pretty exciting.

And I'm not being emo when I say this, but these are my personal observations on the kind of man I like, or at least fantasize about being with in the future. I imagine him to be older because, well, I have an affinity for older men. I want him to be powerful: Not necessarily career-wise, but just with a powerful aura that commands respect and attention. It speaks to me of being a true man, which some men do not embrace and act like.

I want to be the same way. I want to be powerful, and I don't want to be subordinate in any way to the man. I don't know, it's just a pride and feminist thing, but...

But even so, I figured something out: I yearn for the nearly impossible. I like the struggle, I don't like everything coming easy to me. I hate saying I like drama, because I don't think that's exactly it. But I've always believed that anything you have to work hard for is worth it. And what fun is there in having everything handed to you?

Lately, I've been saying that I'm a hopeless romantic, in my mind and in my writing, and not so much in real life. But how can you be a hopeless romantic in real life when there's nothing to pine over, nothing to sigh for, nothing that makes you burn? When you have everything handed to you, you don't have anything to want or hope for. And where's the fun in that?

So I want someone who burns for me, who's dying to be with me but is still real enough to give me my space so we can...burn some more. xD I want it to fit with real life but still be unreal enough to inspire me.
