Moving along to Christmas, it's been quiet and pleasantly lulzy all day. I watched A Christmas Story (finally) at 2am with Burke and then proceeded to pass out under the tree with my tailless wonder nearby. Later I discovered he's declared war on the tree skirt. Oh yeah.

Dad got *moreMDM the wide angle and telephoto lens extensions she was hankering for and it was pretty sweet, so we're going to get to see some awesome stuff from her soon. Shortly after came a quite candid shot of Dad from me, and an even more candid shot of me with the lovely bottle of sake I got. (It's a Morgan Christmas - a large kitchen knife and a bottle of sake. Tchyeah.) Anywho, I only asked for two things which I got, so that was pretty epic. No, they weren't weapons and booze. Reindeer Flotilla Tron shirt, proving my brother does still care a bit, and a print of Mom's ladybug. Oh yeah. Great morning. Dad also got a new knife, so it became a 'mine's bigger' contest. Was hilarious.

Watched Jeff Dunham with the folks and nommed more cookies, and discovered Mom's eggnog has aged beautifully. Smooth, and you ain't gonna need much to get wasted.

Promised Dad tickets to Avatar, so we're gonna go see that on the 1st, shall be awesome.

Anywho, I hope everyone else has been having a great holiday no matter which one it is, and I wish for a great New Year's to all. Rather psyched as 2010 is gonna be my epic year - that's the plan, anyway. Go back and finish my degree, put together a badass portfolio and reel - or several! - and go get that job that I really want. And most of all, get myself to a better state of discipline and care, and really get on the ball with the things that matter to me.

I'm hearing my music in a different key, and some other non-musical things, too. It's mildly disturbing, and I'm still trying to figure out if it's just my system, but I'm getting this impression it's not.

I nearly dozed off on my kids towards the end of class today - both my new meds are drowsiness inducers. Woohoo. =_='

looks straight out of Tron Legacy and I'm actually inspired to get back to modeling.

I really do think there's something wrong when a medication has over ten possible side effects, even if most are fairly tame seeming.

I realize hiding from interaction I don't want to deal with helps nothing, and not figuring I can do something in the first place would probably help. Next time I find myself about to say, 'Sure, I could probably do that for you' I think I'm going to kick myself in the butt and say, 'I'm sorry, you should find someone else.'

Important Addendum: If you upgrade from XP, you will need to back up the daylights out of your system. When you upgrade, you'll have to start fresh - that means reinstalling all your programs and the like, so back up your files too. There's supposedly minimal Windows preferences and settings carry-over, so again, you'll be starting over so to speak.

I finished and uploaded the Farore ACEO - haven't priced yet, but I'll update again when I figure that all out. Once the other two are finished I reckon there'd be a discount for all three together but IDFK.

Working on a portrait commission for my former roomie's mom. Might actually turn out right nice. I have to do two cats in it though. o_o'

The Zalmunna still taunt me. I hate them right now.

Gonna try and start doing the speedpaint-a-day thing again. May start asking for suggestions at the start of each week.

I went back and optimized Samandiriel and Photoshop some more. Plus both my digital and physical workspaces are all around way better organized. I can actually WORK now. It's kind of flipping amazing. Sam's been a dear and I bet he'd love to upgrade to full release. Hurray Windows 7! (They have got to stop playing that little girl W7 commercial, though - it is KILLING what respect they were getting back with the OS. Shit, man.)

I also finally found and understood the radial menus function on my Cintiq, so now I can finally put my keyboard aside for the most part while I work in Photoshop. Can't believe it took me that goddamn long. *eyeroll*

That's what it started out as, I swear. Doing some colleagues' sites, and I got asked by my principal neighbor to see if I could help with her elementary school's site. Totally a yes, it'd look great on my resume. It's like, respectable and stuff, good cause/noble/for the kids. (They are good reasons - I'm generally a proponent of the two birds, one stone philosophy.)

And then such a proposal was born. I have syllabuses and the like to do, ideas and plans to present Tuesday. The proposal is for me to do a group of about fifteen 2nd and 3rd graders on Tuesdays for art funtiems and then on Fridays a group of six kids for digital graphics (they have six old iMacs with some equally old Wacoms (I don't even know what model they are, it's AWESOME 8D) and Painter Classic!)

It's nine kinds of awesome and ridiculous, all at once. And I still get to work on their site. Fffffffff.

Errata

I also applied to be an Assembler at the Toys-R-Us at Paige Field, but that doesn't promise as many lulz as the other (more hours though.) Things have certainly taken a highly amusing turn down here.

Oh, I caved and got a Twitter that I'll probably start keeping updated (workwise) on. No random retarded posts. Just work and related. On the same note, I'm on Facebook.

I had to pass up a verified job offer that was even work remote for reasons of time. Was so pissed.

as a result of illness and meds-induced crap, i'm totally behind on my CAP work, which is why i've been very quiet. i'll answer a couple urgent messages, but i need to get back into Maya like five minutes ago. no, i have no badassery to post for you. give me another week, we'll talk.

i likely will not be around any more than i am now for... well... the next two months. in my 'free time' (yeah, like i have any) i'll be job hunting and (re)learning new software so that i'll make a prettier resume and catch to employees. virginia, maryland and north carolina are actually looking really good and they could pan out very nicely.

i'm late getting this news, but cyan's releasing the source code for Uru which means user content and i'm going to be environmenting my ass off in more of that mythical free time because Myst was one of my superbiggest inspirations as a kid and i'm still a total geek when it comes to that. oh, and for those who don't get it: SUPER FUCKING AWESOME YEAH! my imagination orgasmed reading the article. you don't know how many Ages are sitting in my head waiting for this kind of opportunity.

i also have a super badass sideproject that will doubtlessly kill my laptop so even if i had the time, i wouldn't be able to work on it until we get a new desktop built which can handle the insane polycounts and rendering calculations it will take to see the environment rendered. (it's a very large, complex environment and it's cool. hopefully, it will also break brains.)

Next, near and dear to my twisty little heart, are the Art Nouveau stylings of le Villa Majorelle in Nancy, France. Sandstone/concrete, wood, and wrought iron are prominent and make for pretty-pretty. I think it was like one of the first AN buildings in the area. [link]

I got a new bike and gear for Christmas/my birthday. It's gorgeous, flies, and I can lift it with one hand, and I'm a freaking weakling. Also, I can now go to the liquor store to procure the the final ingredients to Mom's Guilt Free Supa Chocolate Pie.
Seriously. I don't care, I just want the baking opportunities.

3D Work:
I am modeling this side of a Tampa alley for ANP, and I'm modeling and texturing the inside of Thomas Edison's laboratory office at his winter estate in Fort Myers. That's pretty darn cool.

New Years Resolutions:
My New Years resolutions aren't so hard to hold up. For my 'speedpaint a day' resolution, I have plenty of folk to harass me if I don't get it done. Easy. For my health resolutions, they're tasty, easy, and only making life easier (and cheaper!) for me. Weird but cool. For my 'be nice to people,' it's getting a little easier to let things go even though I still don't like the general populace and I think stupidity is rampant as per herd mentality. I'm trying to be better and complain less. We'll see how bad it is in another month. And should I forget any of my resolutions... they're on my desktop wallpaper. Very plain and easy to see.

Art test is done. I only have two pressing art projects. I am doing nothing remotely useful this evening and I fully intend to do the same tomorrow evening. Hatcha.

On the other hand, two pressing art projects, plans to volunteer while I'm at home, lots of photos around town to take for Finals Department next month, apartment to clean, oh, and presents to take care of, and oodles of textures to do for a group project for the current CG Society challenge which is a delightfully steampunk affair. I'm fairly sure there's tons of other things I have to take care of, too, but right now, I don't care. :3

#Edit: You have no idea how giddy I am at the thought of the 5-9pm shift today. Why? I get to go home, take a loooong hot shower, and get some clean clothes. Ooh, and brush my hair- eeeeeee! And I hear there will be homecooked food stuffs there, too. With people.
Okay, so I'm not 100% wild about the people at the moment seeing as how I'm nearing the 24hr mark and getting mood swingy/pissy. Just bad for interpersonal communications. Anywho.

Thanks to the folk what said something, y'all really didn't have to. Things are slowly getting back on track but I know I need outside help, so I'm trying to get that right now. Now if only the clinic would answer the phone... *eyeroll*

Render time also gives me time to work on other things, though generally that's delegated to sleep or 'calm the fuck down.' I have been here at school since about five o'clock yesterday. I kicked everyone out of lab at nine this morning, took a six hour nap since my roommate opened the lab at one. I fanarted Alchera for Rue as a way to mark the machines I was rendering on and as a stress relief. God it felt good to paint. I'm really looking forward to Mythconduct this coming month too - I got a very, very, very fun project. Of course looking at the reference again, I'm torn between cute hilarity or extreme awesomeness.

Next month should be relaxed. I'll be sitting in on ACG to do my art test, which means lots of modeling focus and lots of arting. Complete the Zalmunna, get the exchange piece done, get those ACEOs done, get psychotic shrimp assassin Zerr done...

So, barring more mental breakdowns, epic moodswings and going batshit on folk, I think it should work out.

I missed Blizzard, sure, and it still sucks (though it's funnier now) but it looks like I may be catching the chattage with Michael Mumbauer and Melissa Banks of Sony Computer Entertainment America. To be brutally honest... I don't know much about SCEA, which means research when I can squeeze it in before next Wednesday. By God I am going to have INTELLIGENT questions for them.

Progress Energy got approved for a roughly 25% rate hike, partly to fund construction of a new nuclear plant, and partly to offset fuel surcharges. Awesome! Fuckers. Keep the nuclear out, man.

As for other things... hmm... Dunno. Oh. The new Media Design Master of Fine Arts Degree they're going to be offering at school? Hahahahahahaha! Dude. No. Totally not an actual Fine Arts degree. God, I swear, as much as I love this school, they really make me face-palm an awful lot. I mean, an awful lot. Anywho. I'mma go try to get this blasted tracking done for CSF. 8D It's so boring! Yay!~

Oh, yeah. Basically all the sucky shite has piled up so much and things have been so COMPLETELY SEESAW that I've about given up and have gone the LAWL route again. So, basically, while things aren't cool per se... I can deal. I can totally deal.
