wow, when I first return from Japan and checked my account, i was shocked that I had about 500 deviations in my deviantwatch list... so... I decide to not bother with it and get on with other things.

And then I checked again not long ago, and my inbox had well over 1300+ deviations and once again, I decide that I need to do more school work instead of trying to sort out my deviantart. Though I think my break should be over now, and I think I will be active again soon enough. But for now, I have a midterm on Tuesday that I really need to study for, so probably no update next week. But I just want to assure people that I am alive again, and hopefully I will begin updating artworks again at the end of this month or the beginning of next month.
Thanks to those who still come and check my work!

But I'm going to be gone again for a while, though not sure if that is going to make much of a difference consider how i procrastinate with updating. But yes, like the subject says: I'M GOING TO JAPAN. In two days. I'll be there studying abroad for two whole months, and I also get the chance to tour a few places in Japan. I will be staying in Kyoto going to the Kyoto Institute of Culture & Language, and I'll be with a Japanese host family. I hope everything will be okay, I'll try to be active while I am oversea, but I cannot be sure of anything. Not even sure if I'll get stable internet connection XD but I'll find a way.... somehow.

so, I'll be gone for a while, those who's been watching me, thank you for your support, I promise I'll post more art when I return from Japan, and hopefully I'll get more people to visit my page... *le sigh* well, take care and I will be back!

okay, I've been a HUGE final fantasy VII fan since 8 years ago, though recently I haven't been keep it up to date with the series. So, I went online, looked around for some info on the latest game installment: Crisis Core for the PSP. well... I certainly found them. The first picture I saw is a picture of Zack looking absolutely gorgeous, and a picture of Sephiroth in the game (yes, he was good back then). Thus my fangirlness could not be contained any longer and I ended up squeeing for quite a while >.>; I can't wait till the game is released, yet at the same time, I kinda wish that I had a PSP so that I could play it. But it is so expensive, and my only desire to want a PSP is so that I could play crisis core, so sounds semi a waste... hopefully one day I can find a movie file like the one i found of kingdom hearts: chain of memories, where the movie file is about an hour long consist only of all the cut scenes in the game without the game play. If I can find one for crisis core, I'll be in heaven.

that aside, it is a week before my Spring Break, and I am so caught up with all the homework, exam, and papers that are due right before it, so I haven't been drawing much lately. I have begin to color my works, so yay~ I'm almost done getting rid of older sketches and load them onto DA, soon I'll be uploading the much more recent ones. It would be really nice if people would comment on them... >.> well, I shall speak no more for it is time for classes

I read this message on my friend Riie's journal, and i think i should post this as well. the author is unknown, but who ever this person is, this person speak the truth and how the artists should be treated. here it goes:

I Wish I Had Written This
January 23, 2007 at 5:34 pm · Filed under NO!SPEC have your say

To those who are looking for someone to do work for free… please wake up and join the real world

Every day, there are more and more CL posts seeking “artists” for everything from auto graphics to comic books to corporate logo designs. More people are finding themselves in need of some form of illustrative service.

But what they’re NOT doing, unfortunately, is realizing how rare someone with these particular talents can be.

To those who are “seeking artists”, let me ask you; How many people do you know, personally, with the talent and skill to perform the services you need? A dozen? Five? One? …none?

More than likely, you don’t know any. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be posting on craigslist to find them.

And this is not really a surprise.

In this country, there are almost twice as many neurosurgeons as there are professional illustrators. There are eleven times as many certified mechanics. There are SEVENTY times as many people in the IT field.

So, given that they are less rare, and therefore less in demand, would it make sense to ask your mechanic to work on your car for free? Would you look him in the eye, with a straight face, and tell him that his compensation would be the ability to have his work shown to others as you drive down the street?

Would you offer a neurosurgeon the “opportunity” to add your name to his resume as payment for removing that pesky tumor? (Maybe you could offer him “a few bucks” for “materials”. What a deal!)

Would you be able to seriously even CONSIDER offering your web hosting service the chance to have people see their work, by viewing your website, as their payment for hosting you?

If you answered “yes” to ANY of the above, you’re obviously insane. If you answered “no”, then kudos to you for living in the real world.

But then tell me… why would you think it is okay to live out the same, delusional, ridiculous fantasy when seeking someone whose abilities are even less in supply than these folks?

Graphic artists, illustrators, painters, etc., are skilled tradesmen. As such, to consider them as, or deal with them as, anything less than professionals fully deserving of your respect is both insulting and a bad reflection on you as a sane, reasonable person. In short, it makes you look like a twit.

A few things you need to know;

1. It is not a “great opportunity” for an artist to have his work seen on your car/’zine/website/bedroom wall, etc. It IS a “great opportunity” for YOU to have their work there.

2. It is not clever to seek a “student” or “beginner” in an attempt to get work for free. It’s ignorant and insulting. They may be “students”, but that does not mean they don’t deserve to be paid for their hard work. You were a “student” once, too. Would you have taken that job at McDonalds with no pay, because you were learning essential job skills for the real world? Yes, your proposition it JUST as stupid.

3. The chance to have their name on something that is going to be seen by other people, whether it’s one or one million, is NOT a valid enticement. Neither is the right to add that work to their “portfolio”. They get to do those things ANYWAY, after being paid as they should. It’s not compensation. It’s their right, and it’s a given.

4. Stop thinking that you’re giving them some great chance to work. Once they skip over your silly ad, as they should, the next ad is usually for someone who lives in the real world, and as such, will pay them. There are far more jobs needing these skills than there are people who possess these skills.

5. Students DO need “experience”. But they do NOT need to get it by giving their work away. In fact, this does not even offer them the experience they need. Anyone who will not/can not pay them is obviously the type of person or business they should be ashamed to have on their resume anyway. Do you think professional contractors list the “experience” they got while nailing down a loose step at their grandmother’s house when they were seventeen?

If you your company or gig was worth listing as desired experience, it would be able to pay for the services it received. The only experience they will get doing free work for you is a lesson learned in what kinds of scrubs they should not lower themselves to deal with.

6. (This one is FOR the artists out there, please pay attention.) Some will ask you to “submit work for consideration”. They may even be posing as some s...

I'm just overwhelmed with work from classes already, and school has only begin for 2 weeks. already i have a project due this friday, a research paper due next friday, 2 quizes, 4 group projects. And just been selected as the vice president of my fraternity, and we have to organize the initiation for new comers, the national conference, fund raising and all that jazz. I've been drawing, but i haven't had the chance to check DA in a while. right now i have almost 300 artworks in my inbox that i should look at... oh boy.

The class that we have to take inorder to go to japan is very interesting, already i've learned so much about Japan's ancestrial history, i was proud of myself. also got a brandnew digital camera, so be careful of random pics that will be taken by me. I'm still thinking of doing comission, because i need to raise money to go to Japan. If anyone would like to help me out, that would be great. Anyway, sorry for the long period of inactivity, I shall try my best to scan the 40+ artwork that i still need to scan... soon.

Also a few things that i bring back from the dorm has been relocated and I have no slight clue as to where they could be at at this moment, but rest assurd, I will find then and scan them. OH, finally bought a tablet, not a very good one, but atleast I got one so i can start practicing on it hopefully soon. The challange i'm having recently is that i can never find any inspiration where like i used to, where ideas just flows into my head and i'll be drawing for hours each day... right now all i do is doodling and sketching, hopefull i can come out of this phase soon and get some more cool stuff out. Also what i've been trying to work on now is coloring, because i notice most of my work lack in colors, sure they're pretty okay line arts, but there's just not enough variations, so i am going to try to do more colored works, and maybe even progress into digital coloring. except though I have photoshop CS2, i haven't use it for hardly anything, so I seriously need some help on that. so maybe any of you who are really good at cg coloring could maybe help me out or something.

wow, this entry is getting long. but i think i'm almost done blabing. XD i've added quite a few deviants on here, and I would really like to get to know them better, some of their works are just increditable and i always turns out speechless over their gorgeous artworks. and hey, here's to anyone who reads this: if you would like to talk to me, please do. I really do enjoy talking to other artists. so here's my AIM screenname: AyakinaAsano0112

alright, enough for now, i'll have some more things update later. for those who actually read this whole thing: I thank you for your patience <3

okay... I'm leaving today for a summer internship which I will not be back till the middle of august. Hopefully by the end of the internship I shall have enough money to buy myself a nice printer/scanner set.... and hopefully a tablet. I've realize that most of my artworks are never in color, and I wanna exeriment on it. I've never started on it, so by the time I do, I'm going to need a lot of constructive critisims from you guys!!! (moi need help~ lol)

on the side note. I actually attempted to count how many things that I need to scan as of right now, including all the nice sketches and the random doodle turn masterpieces..... is building from a 50+ towards a 60+... and I know I won't have much time to do much anything else this summer than work, but I'm taking my sketchbook (which has about 10 pics that need to be scanned), I'm most likely going to have much much more work to be posted... ::le sigh::
