I'm making a guess that it's a spider the author is referring to, but if I didn't know this, I think I would be cringing a little at the thought that silk coming out of someone's bum was anything but elaborate and alluring, especially for a Kagome and Sesshoumaru fic (which I like to say that I hate that pairing. Absolutely hate it). I mean, why would anyone make a description like that? Well, if you're into that kind of stuff, >.>

This reminds me of the Spiderman franchise. They have it all wrong! They shouldn't have written him as shooting webs from his hands! He's a spider for goodness sakes, they shoot silk webs from their bums, why didn't you guys think of that?

(Yes, I know he got bitten by a radio-active spider).

Don't think of running away yet, as had decided to give me a little present in my notes. And boy, let me tell you that it took me a while to read the whole thing. The link was just sitting there, and every time I clicked on it, the few lines that I did read, turned me off reading fanfics for a while, until I read others that were more sane to the mind.

Being such the nice person I am, I will once again tell you what I thought of this so called story that everyone seemed to love (and from the reviews I read, yes, they did love it).

Our story begins with Kagome whining about wanting to go to a concert, seeing that Linkin Park is playing there. She urges Inuyasha to tag along, to which the foul-mouthed hanyou eventually agrees to.

"But no one goes to a concert dressed like that." Kagome says, having the perfect outfit for him, made to his exact measurements.

And what a sight Inuyasha makes with that tight shirt showing off his ripped muscles and six pack, and with those tight-tight jeans, ooohhh...

Sorry, I think I drooled a bit.

They go to the concert, and they hear a song which apparently has some kind of aphrodisiac effect on Inuyasha. I didn't know he understood English. Not that I'm saying he's not smart, but this is Linkin Park we're talking about. It would have made more sense if it was a J-pop or rock band. Anyway, they go to some dark corner, where they proceed to make out - American style. Hands are everywhere, kisses are being slopped everywhere, acting out on their urges, just like the typical teenager on raging hormones. Aww, isn't that cute? They even said they loved each other. True love, ain't it grand?


No need for subtlety like the Japanese when it concerns love for each other. We should do it the Western Way!

"Oh, Inuyasha."

"Oh, Kagome."

"I want your pups."

"Really?"

"Yes, give them all to me."

Unfortunately, as all comedy/romance/angst/everything else one cares to mention, Hojou decides to appear out of nowhere, finding Kagome (from a crowd of thousands) in a leg lock with the hanyou. He is not happy, but is brushed off easily to the side when Kagome feels something hard bump her between her legs. No, they don't do the dirty in front of him, after all this is fanfiction.net, home to all the horny thirteen year old buggers with nothing else to do except use the vibrator mode on their mobiles for... 'creative' usage.

It would have been funny though.

Eventually, and finally they end up at Sengoku jidai and do some hot-dog action. All going well, eh?

HA! HAHAHA...

It never does go well when concerning Inu/Kago!!!

The next thing that happens to our wonderful pair is that Kouga decides to show up. Being the BIGGEST LOSER (and dummy) still can't get over his infatuation with the miko and plans to steal her away from Inuyasha. His plan is to drug her using some magic thing he got from somewhere (I guess the author gave it to him), make Kagome sit on him in a compromising position whilst they are both naked, except for his underwear, pretend to mark her, and then wait for the poor hanyou to catch them and start a hissy fit.

His plan works out perfectly, and Inuyasha does have a hissy fit, of monstrous proportions. It would make anyone who suffered from PMS proud. I can't really complain, it's not over yet, and seeing the job market, it's going to be hard. Whoever said there was plenty of jobs for nurses is a liar.

Some good news is that I won one of the Legend Awards over at Eternal Destiny, a site dedicated to the Inu/Kago pairing. Now I can gloat about being a 'Legend among Legends'. But seriously, thanks to everyone who liked 'The Journey Home' enough to vote for me. It was really unexpected, and an honour. So thank you, for giving us Inu/Kago lovers a small and warm place to place our fics.

Besides, it's the easiest places to post, no fiddling with html and speech marks that won't show up and formatting gone awry. That's always a big plus!



I needed the good news after what I read on mediaminer. I thought the stuff on fanfiction.net was bad enough until a certain someone, who likes to encourage me to read such things, pointed this out to me.

And boy, is it bad. You can tell by the first chapter's title: 'The Start of Pain'.

You're not wrong there.

It's really hard to explain a fic like this, everything is so bad that it begins to be laughable beyond imagination. Funny thing is that you can find many types of these similarly worded typed fics on a site I can't remember the name to, something-something-zilla.com, or other.

The fic begins where Kouga is facing off with a dog demon who is a female dog demon who looks exactly like Inuyasha, except that she is a female, and has her hair in a ponytail, and dressed in a kimono similar to Inuyasha's, showing off her sexy and seductive female body, showing off her claws that were similar to Sesshoumaru's claws... and you get the idea. There is another female demon with big boobies, and with a similar description. Some demon dudes who looks similar to Sesshoumaru but shorter, and then there is Inuyasha, who has a cold expression on his face just like Sesshoumaru's. Why you asked?

Apparently he and Kagome had a fight (obviously) and so in revenge, Kagome thought she could make him jealous by focusing her attentions on Kouga for a while until Inuyasha got angry, they fought, and then the miko would sit him to end the fight.

Of course it doesn't end well, because before that, Inuyasha and Kagome had decided to become mates after the defeat of Naraku, along with Inuyasha's many brothers and sisters.

"WHAT?!" Did I miss something here???

Anyway, because of the claim, Inuyasha and Kouga now decided to fight to the death. Aided with Kagome's sit, Kouga proceeds to kick the poor puppy till his near death. But before Kouga can give the final blow, in pops one of Inuyasha's sisters (is she the one with big boobies, I can't remember). She goes off because Kagome provoked this fight, and therefore she has betrayed Inuyasha. The hanyou agrees, going on a big speech about how he thought Kagome was better than Kikyou until this happened. Kagome starts acting like a little sobby girl, trying to convince her intended that this was not her intention, and Inuyasha starts acting like a stubborn little ADHD boy and refuses to listen. Instead of trying to resolve this matter like adults, the female demon decides to punish Kouga, bashing him like a beach ball, literally. I mean everything he does, does nothing to the demon, and she beats him up so easily. She's like a Mary-Sue on steroids. Even the power from the shards of the Shikon no Tama don't work on her. I swear this fight sounded like it was an episode from Pokemon (including the spectators commentary), except with violence and gore. I'm not joking, if you were brave enough to read it, you will find that it plays out like a video game. The fight scene goes on forever, and I'm glad it was over, until I found out that it was only chapter one.

This was the one fic that had given me so much pain for the last week. You wouldn't know how bad it was until you sat down and read through it. Why do a lot of stories have me shaking my head in agony? How some people seem to think the only way for their favourite characters to become a couple is to kill off the other one they don’t like. Or at least create such a tragic circumstance, that the current (usually the canon couple) have no way to repair things between each other.

Talk about plot convenience.

From the worst story to even the better ones, this plot device is used constantly. Of course, it all depends on how well the author creates the plot, if it's creative, if the characters are all fleshed out well, and the situations are believable and such. That still doesn't give them an excuse to get the ones they like, together, and having sex in every dark and hard corner they can find. Original type characters are no better. In fact, the should have dropped the word original with something like cookie-cutter characters. My goodness, even teddy bear-shaped cookies wouldn't all be the same. Unless they were Photo-shopped.

And you know what the worst thing is about these stories? Apart from everything else, it is the fact that the tragic circumstance happen at the very first chapter, even beginning at the opening lines.

Yes, this is Inuyasha, an Epic Tale about bad breakups, temper tantrums, girls catching their man with other prettier women and then going off to cry in woe, until another, much prettier man with hair so pretty it and of royal status, and then they Fall in Love, getting attacked by bear youkai, but fortunately are saved by their knight in shining armour, getting dumped, getting training to become the most powerful of everything else that is powerful (at least more than Kikyou (then Inuyasha would know who's boss)...

Wait, where was I?

Oh, right, that.

I've delayed it long enough.

But, let's make this epic, shall we?

Welcome dear reader, come and sit down, here, on this comfortable cushion. No, do not be afraid, not of me anyway. I do not bite... much. Comfortable yet? Good. I am glad. One needs to have a good seat to enjoy my tales of woe, so that when my story has finished, you will go away, savouring this experience, the same one I had when I read this story.

Let us begin this tale of woe with a happy... beginning. You see that it is night. No, not just any other night, but the night of the new moon. Yet still, the stars sparkle their dull glow, upon two figures wrapped in their love, oblivious to the reality of their own, cruel, and dark world.

Darkness covers Inuyasha's hair with shades of ebony, no more silver, at least till the sun's first rays light up the sky in glorious gold. His eyes of purple gaze into blue, his companion, his love, Kagome. The miko says nothing, but her sparking eyes speak volumes. No need for words. Not when you're in lurve (naww).

Yes, they were alone, outside, perhaps far from the nearest village, in the dark, while Inuyasha was going through his human night.

Then they drift off to sleep, with the silly hanyou forgetting that he has this intense fear of sleeping while he is going through with his phase. The night wears on, and Kagome wakes up, realising that it is a little bit chilly, outside, and so decides she should go and collect some wood for the dying fire. She walks on, into the forest, alone and in the dark. Should she go back, she wonders? Unfortunately, it is too late, as our poor Kagome is lost, and doesn't know her way back to the unsuspecting hanyou.

Suddenly, she hears a crack in the forest, her heart pounds, frightened. Oh no, she has forgotten her bow and arrows. She sees the monster. She screams.

She is no more.

Inuyasha wakes up and finds that his Kagome is gone. No! he panics, sniffing his way to her, and finds her remains. Devastated, he picks up her bones, buries them, yet strangely void of feeling.

He hears a crack, he spins around, finding a girl in front of him. She is scared...

And so am I.

Alright, enough with this.

This is just an example (and thanks again ), but see how this plot runs through? Kagome goes alone into the woods, at night, just to get a bunch of sticks for a fire. And here I am screaming complete idiocy. Here are my exact words: 'You stupid b*tch! You do not go by yourself into the forest to get a bunch of sticks!!!!!' That is just asking to be killed, and she does. So everything has been put on hold for the moment, at least until things calm down on my end. But as if you care (especially you fanfiction.net readers), you just want to see what happens next, either that, or simply getting confused about what I just wrote. Yep, that's me: make you wait and get you confused at the same time Though, no one has told me exactly where their confusion lies, so I would probably guess that it would be my terrible writing.

Don't mind me, I'm just remembering some bad fanfics about how easily people can kill off characters...

A normal day at high school...

Anyway, as we go along, we find out why Kagome is such a quiet and meek student, or more specifically, why she has become so quiet in the more recent years. She used to be so happy, Inuyasha remembers. And no, Kikyou plays no part in the betrayal and deception. Thank god.

Apparently, as all happy people turn into sad people because of tragic event, Kagome had a happy family life, a doting fashion model mother, a father, and a younger brother, all happy and lovely. That is until the father dies, in suspicious circumstances. The mother remarries, and if you do have enough life experience of reading such stories, you will know that the step father is a psychotic arsehole. We are just not told, yet. Oh yes, the mother died too (I think).

So, as Inuyasha and Kagome are going on their anniversary date, Kagome happens to notice that some television show is showing her mother’s past life as a model. They react in shock as they see the images of her mother, so happy, her husband by her side, and the daughter. Everyone’s eyes are transfixed to the pictures, but Kagome’s mind is filled with many questions as to how such tapes were released, tapes which were meant to stay hidden so they could not even think of trying to find out the truth behind them. How’s that for convenience?

Now with questions fuelling them, they set off trying to find out the answers. They drive this way and that, travelling on the train to each exciting location, finding truths, finding twists in the plot, more truths; they are unstoppable, until at last, they reach a final conclusion and a happy ending.

And, don’t forget, Kikyou gets pwned, that satisfies as a happy ending, doesn’t it?
Now before anyone complains that they did in fact like this story, let me say that I found it okay. It’s not something that you would read when you want a challenge, but a story that is short and sweet, and not much of a headache. So sweet in fact, that I almost got a toothache instead.

Nearly every chapter, especially the later ones, it becomes quite hilarious at how many times Inuyasha and Kagome say ‘I love you’. I don’t know what this preoccupation is with saying as many ‘I love you’, ‘I love you too’ as much as they can, as if their life depended on it. I know it is young love, but my goodness, don’t give me so much cheese. And I do mean every bit of cheese is in it.

*sigh*

Then again, I wouldn’t understand such complexities of the heart.

If you ever get the chance, and a few hours to spare, you should watch it. It sure helps 'ze little grey cells' from having a meltdown.

I just couldn't keep these things gems to myself.

So it begins with Kagome mulling over (again) about how her day had gone from okay to "I can't believe this is happening to me". Here we go again, what is it this time, Kagome? Can't we have a story where you are actually, I don't know, happy, cheerful? Is it really that hard? Look, I know you are trying for emotional depth, but it's just turning out to be a soap opera.

Anyway, we find out that they were actually having a good time: touching, caressing, kissing, and other sorts of foreplay, which would of course have led to sex, with Kagome moaning Inuyasha's name over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again... That is until, and with a sniffle as the miko remembers, Inuyasha, in the heat of passion, says the wrong name.

LOL! Oh, oops, this is a drama, right? Sorry, but I thought these things were reserved for comedies.

Well, just like that, everything comes crashing down. Kagome slowly picks up her clothes and walks away (it's a change from running), leaving him just gawking there, having an awkward and naked feeling surround him. She arrives home, crying, moping, and then has a hot soak in the bath. Now, what happened to the angry Kagome, where her temper was just as strong as the hanyou's. Do you remember that? Oh well, here's some chocolate ice cream to help with your emo mood. Her mother comes in, and says out loud that it must be crying season. Gee, thanks mum.

Meanwhile, Inuyasha is moping as well, sitting on his tree waiting for Kagome to come back. Did the well suddenly could not work and you couldn't, go there?! Or did he just forget? Inuyasha and Kagome seem to be forgetting how to play their own character, aren't they? It's so strange. It's like, someone other than Takahashi-san is pulling and pulling on strings, making them do things against their will. Miroku, Sango and Shippou are no better, hiding from the hanyou, and saying out loud their commentary on the situation. He is a half demon, he can hear you, you know.

Seven days has passed, there is an event where ramen makes Inuyasha turn into a youkai, the beef flavoured noodles having stirred up thoughts about Kagome like: "Mate, where is she? Where is my bitch?" (Don't ask). And then finally, Kagome arrives, looking very odd indeed, not to mention speaking so politely, 'so unlike her', bowing her head at the right times and such. Apparently, she has lost some weight, and I mean in a bad way (suicide alert), and for some reason, she has decided to cosplay as Kikyou, even deliberately putting on strong perfume (slut alert! Come on, everyone knows that sluts where strong perfume). Inuyasha is upset by this, saying why she is dressed up in such a bad costume. And she, like a mad woman, answers with how sorry she is at being so late, then asks him if he likes her new clothes, shoes, etc... Of course he replies by saying nothing except, why?

Ooh, bad answer, and what we get is whole paragraphs of ranting and raving about why isn't she good enough like Kikyou, how she worked so hard to make this costume, how she is never perfect like Kikyou, why do you keep running to her, while she is willing to sacrifice everything to be with him? And on and on and on. Gods, does she talk too much.

And where does this lead up to, you may ask? Of course they make up, say their "I love you", "No I love you", "She is in the past, you're my future" and all that jazz. All that angst to be washed away by only a few paragraphs?

But that is not what pissed me off, and I will never get over this. After all the over the top love confessions, Kagome smiles in triumph. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, triumph means winning over something. Does this mean Kagome went through all that, the extreme diet, the cosplay, and the bad perfume, just to trick Inuyasha into spilling out a love confession? What a conniving, little... DDDDDDDAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

You could have picked a better word than that!

OMG! How's this for the best plot line ever made. Inuyasha thinks tampons are food and starts inhaling them like he inhales ramen. He eats so much that he starts to choke. Sango calls Kagome for help, which takes five minutes for her to get there. There are over 89,000 Inuyasha fanfics?! Too bad most of them are crap, containing stories about Kagome going to a new high school with demons (or not), and then finds love. Or a story about vampires (great, now I'm seeing those 'things' everywhere), where she finds love. Or she finds Inuyasha and Kikyou going at it, she runs, runs, runs, until she can run no longer, gets attacked, then finds love with the first man she sees. Goes into an alternate universe, where she finds love. Or she's a princess, where she finds love. Perhaps a more piratey theme is to your taste? Or she sees Inuyasha declaring his love for Kikyou, and Kagome's chronic condition of the runs flares up, thus she runs straight away into Kouga awaiting arms.

Why are most of the stories like this? Do you have no shame? And the angst and lemons are no better, with plenty of them written by thirteen years olds. No wonder some people want to ban the aging up of characters when you see these things around, glaring at you with their love-struck eyes.

You see why I hate romance stories. All the men end up like sissies, and the women end up as bitches. Bunch of whiners. Who cares if Inuyasha has called you a shard detector. It's people like you that continue to harp on two words. The one time you can sit him, you decide to run and cry, or run into Sesshoumaru's arms. Oh no, he would never insult you. He will hug you, and kiss you and give you all of his girl babies. AAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWW

How about the Inuyasha 'sitting'? Find that fun? Me too! Just let me find a baseball bat and hit you in the face while screaming 'sit' a hundred times on top of my lungs! (And if you can find that particular story where Kagome sits Inuyasha as a practical joke, please send them my way! And the one about the car going into Sengoku jidai).

I’m sure you have read such stories, and if you haven’t, you have been living under a privileged rock.

It starts off with a fight. Yes, a fight. See how this story starts off grand? All great stories should start off with a fight. No, I don’t mean the World Wars, or battles like the ‘Lord of the Rings’. This is a fight between two people, and again, no, I’m not talking about political power plays or corporate exchanges, or other boring things.

This is a fight between a man and a woman. Wait, I meant to say a fight between a boy and a girl. From the word go, the scene opens up with an in-your-face domestic dispute. You can’t get more epic than that. No need to describe the scene of where the characters are, no introduction of who the characters will be or their thoughts. It’s just bang, argument.

What are they arguing about? I’m not sure, really. I just saw the word Kikyou, and I went, “Ah... how wonderful,” or another one would be where Kagome wanted to go home but Inuyasha didn’t want her to leave.

Like I said, all great stories start off with an argument, because that is how we see our favourite characters behave (or not favourite pairing for some of you). Why do they start this way? Who knows? I guess starting them with ‘Once upon a time’, was too cliché, and only belonged in fairytales.

Anyway, let’s begin the story, where Inuyasha is off comparing Kagome to Kikyou – in the most basic terms. Yeah, people are always comparing, right in front of your face, saying how hopeless you are, how ugly you are, etc. Inuyasha is no backstabber; he’s just called our favourite miko a shard detector. Isn’t that sweet, Kagome? He doesn’t mince his words. Then Kagome gives him an appropriate response: she whines, bitches, and all out gives him a temper tantrum of any fifteen year old girl. Finally, she has her final words, in a teary mess, and says for Inuyasha to go back to Kikyou if he thinks that dead corpse is more worthy of his time than she is, and then she sits him, at least more than once.

And I sat there thinking, “Wow... What a great beginning.” So much hate. It stung me right to my heart, like a... an anaphylactic shock.

Now let’s pause for a minute while I try to explain. Plenty of these fictions focus a lot on comparing Kikyou and Kagome. Everything about them is put on the spotlight, their looks, attitudes, how they treat other people (friends and people they love), and their general way of thinking. And I can say right now, people tend to give Kagome a more positive light. You’ve heard the descriptions, sometimes we have read whole blocks on how kind Kagome is, how patient, virtuous, good to all kinds of people, pure love and unselfish especially to hanyou. There is never a bad word about her, not even when she blows her top off, again to a certain hanyou.

Compare that to how Kikyou is described. I’ll sum it up for you.
She is a slut, conniving bitch, who thinks nothing but trying to drag Inuyasha into hell. Even in Alternate Universe fics, she is described as such. You know, those girls in every high school based movie bad guys? ‘High School Musical’, anyone? These fics are so like real life. I remembered every time I strolled into high school, there were always these slutty stereotypes that harassed me about my dorky looks. But, that’s another story.

Kikyou, a slut, surely you must be joking! I thought Kagome was the one wearing the miniskirts?

Talk about jealousy. Why else would people describe ones they hate as slutty and boyfriend stealers with cheap looks and style. Kikyou is the other woman, a threat to the main couple. Not only is she the other woman, she is also strong, beautiful, and very dedicated to her work. Yes, she is a bitch, but she’s a bitch you don’t want to mess around with. How’s that for comparison? She doesn’t need to ‘sit’ Inuyasha in order to keep him in check.

Where was I? Oh, yes, Inuyasha has just blurted out that Kikyou is ten times better than Kagome, in more or less of those words. Kagome runs away in tears, turning up the angst mode to maximum while she runs. But that's another story.

Despite me being anal about canon, occasionally my eyes stray to look for yaoi fiction, and more specifically Inucest. It's one of those things you know you wouldn't normally like, but can't help being curious about, and probably end up liking.

And I do like it. Two hot guys making out, what's not to like? Do I care that they are brothers? Maybe... but not for long.

Of course, when two men get together, it's obvious that they can't have children the normal way. So who was the brilliant genius who came up with m-preg?

What is m-preg, you may ask? Male pregnancy? Men being knocked up? I'm not sure, myself.

So let's tell it in a story.

Inuyasha is sad because Kagome has left him for good, being that her duty to the Shikon no Tama was completed and she wasn't needed anymore is Sengoku jidai. Inuyasha mopes and wonders if he'll see her ever again, perhaps even waiting five hundred years to see her (at least he doesn't sing, thank goodness). Sango and Miroku have left him to start a family, and Shippou, bless his little and naughty soul has left with them.

Some friends they are, leaving him to be alone. But our hanyou is too sad to notice, and probably too accepting that this is part of his life.

Now we cut to somewhere else, a castle, Sesshoumaru's castle, who decided after years of neglect and wandering without a cause, has come back to sit on the throne to do meaningless administrative tasks (No wait, he was already there, conveniently at the table, his eyes concentrating on the scroll). A messenger has informed him that some youkai are attacking and killing hanyou. Looks like someone is doing a spot of genetic cleansing. Sounds like fun, doesn't it? Sesshoumaru doesn't give it much thought, that is until he has a passing thought about his brother, and so, decides to investigate.

Now, back to Inuyasha, who is by now, being attacked by a youkai. This youkai is handsome, a man, this is important to the story. The youkai taunts the hanyou about his blood, and you would think that this would be an ordinary fight, right? Inuyasha thought so to, until the male youkai informs him that his blood is very attractive, and I don't mean the yum yum kind, I mean the other yum yum kind.

What's that you say?

I'll try to explain. Basically, this youkai sees Inuyasha as having 'female tendencies' because of his mixed blood being tainted from not only his mother but also from the generations past before he was born. Now, I not an expert and I'm probably explaining it wrong, but just because you had many boys or many girls in the family, doesn't and shouldn't affect the current person for having either masculine traits or feminine traits.

Inuyasha, being smarter than I am, has figured out the youkai's meaning, and starts violently denying that he is actually a girl inside and likes men. The youkai laughs even as the poor hanyou shouts that he loves women (Kagome), and refuses to believe in such bullshit, even though he has had a passing thought that this youkai is indeed attractive.

Anyway, to cut it short, Sesshoumaru jumps in to rescue our damsel in distress -- uhh, Inuyasha. Kills off the youkai, tells Inuyasha off for being a fool, or something like that, and then they start to have a brotherly talk about this attack and the hanyou's feeling on it.

And this is where we learn Inuyasha's biggest secret. No, not the transforming into a human when there is no moon. This is the big one. When I first read this, it had the most strangest reaction I have ever encountered while reading a fanfic.

Ready?

Inuyasha, not only turns into a human once a month, but also experiences a different kind of once a month...

There are some stories out there that are so cliched, I start to get pains in my stomach, and then there are fanfics that are simply insulting, which then make me question if this is in fact a true story using Inuyasha characters as a veil. Sometimes there is a mixture of both.

Here is an example that gave me as a curiosity. It's the age old story, if I can call it that, because most stories start like this. Inuyasha and Kagome are having a fight about something (maybe about Kikyou, I can't really remember), Kagome runs away to her home, then decides out of nowhere that she needs training. For what? I don't know because she never says anything about it. And her mother is okay with this. I know she is supportive and everything, but if something like this happens, any mother would prefer their daughter stay with them. Then Kagome goes back to Sengoku jidai to mope some more, then starts singing some Green Day song (because that's what happens when you're crying). I'm not talking about a few lines, she sings the whole song! Do you sing the whole song when you're upset?!

Anyway, of course Inuyasha has heard her, but is too late to stop her, wherever she is going. He then goes back and has to face one of the most funniest and best conversations I have ever read.

It went something like this:

"Inuyasha, how could you?"

"Kagome is like a sister to me!"

"Mew!"

"You're such an idiot, Inuyasha! I hate you!!"

"Mew, mew!"

Did you see it?

While this is going on, Kagome has gone somewhere, and finds two neko that she rescues. The neko recovers, and we find out that Kagome can speak their language.

...Okay.

She then travels to a miko academy, which I have to ask, just how did she know where this place was. Did someone point it out to her? Did she get some pamphlets on such a school? Whatever. So she goes there, not to learn about the spiritual nature of all beings of earth and how they interact with each other, no, she learns how to fight. Yes, fight. How original. And how long was she there, you may ask? Decades, a lifetime?

How about one month?

Yeah, that's right, Kagome becomes an expert fighter in one month. ONE MONTH!! See how good she is? Usually if I wanted to know how to fight it would take me several years or more. You see how badass Kagome already is? And not only she conquers the miko academy, but also she goes on to train with the youkai slayers, in one month, joins the army, for one month, then fights Sesshoumaru, for one month. All in all, there is nothing which explains how she fought, or the interactions with other characters during her training sessions, nothing. Just that she got a jewel to prove that she won the Pokemon finals.

Meanwhile, and after lots of Inuyasha bashing, the group set out to find Kagome, and oh yeah, Naraku, do you still remember that cool bad guy? But we find out that this group is so hopeless without Kagome, as they cannot find any jewel shards without their shard detector, and because a "mysterious person" has already pinched it from under their noses or vanquished all youkai before they had a chance to do anything about it.

Who is this mysterious person? Mmhhhnn... I don't know. I stopped paying attention a long time ago...

Yes, this is my problem with a lot of fanfics. Not many authors can write about characters and make them likable. For all the "Inuyasha is such a jerk for making Kagome cry", you end up making me hate the fanfic Kagome more by making her into something that she is not supposed to be. All the characters have their flaws, and I respect and admire them for that. What not real person has flaws, as long as we learn from experience and grow from it?

Apparently for some of you, you all think you're Sailor Moon, or Bella Swan (boy even that name sounds pretentious).

Do you authors have no respect for the characters and thus the creator of the characters, herself? If I was RT, I'd be pulling all of my hair out.

But, you ask, why did you read it then, only to complain about it later on?

Well, I read through it, and I'm still wondering what the hell I had just read.
It's basically about a girl called Bella Swan who moves to Forks (but doesn't want to go to Forks, because...?), who meets a guy named Edward Cullen. And boy, does the story like to hammer it into our heads, how perfect, perfect, angel, sparkly smile, chiseled chest, marble statue, Edward is. I ended up laughing. One action scene occurs about page 400, which is poorly written (all of it is badly written), just a few lines, and the worst thing is, Bella falls unconscious. Then they go to prom. YAY!!!!!!!!

All the characters are annoying, whiny, and unappealing. There was nothing likable about them.

Bella is a complete Mary Sue. The first day she comes to school everyone was hitting on her, I mean everyone. Especially when the school dance was coming up, all the guys were asking her, even the one who almost ran her down. Is this normal? And she's obviously smart, seeing that she was in the top class in science in her previous school, and already did most of the course work before she moved. Her only flaw, is her clumsiness, but it's written in a way that sounds stupid and seems that it was put there for the heck of it.

And Edward, the flawless bastard, who even when the rain soaked his hair and clothes, still looked like a model out of a hair gel commercial. No joke. Even his voice is of an angel, musical, wonderful, etc. The descriptions never let up. But sometimes I swear his behaviour is similar to bipolar disorder. One line he's all happy and shit, the next he's cold and demanding, not to mention possessive.
As he says: 'I'm not angry at you, Bella.' I beg to differ.

The book is filled with such memorable lines such as: 'You're my type of heroin', 'I love you.' "I reminded", and 'so the lion fell in love with the lamb (and thought about having lamb chops for dinner)'. How romantic.

The best part, finding out the reason why Edward doesn't want to come into the sunlight. He's just too shiny.

Why are you being so emo about it, Edward? You're a walking bling thing! No one's going to think you're a monster, because you're covered in diamonds.

And why does the whole Cullen family (except for the doctor and the wife) feel compelled to go to high school? I thought they were there, looking for young victims to drink from...

1. Kagome’s abuse of Inuyasha’s rosary is always funny, because domestic abuse is always funny.

2. Even though no one likes Kikyou (hehe, Kinky-ho) because she tried to make Inuyasha turn into a human, he ends up turning human anyway for Kagome, and decides to live in the modern era, where they proceed to go clubbing, hot dates, and bed-thumping, just like every normal, hormone driven teenager. Kagome certainly doesn’t want to live in yucky Sengoku jidai.

3. Miroku likes touching Sango’s bum, only because he can get beaten up by her.

4. No one likes Inuyasha being paired with Kikyou, but no one sees a problem when Kagome gets paired with every known male known in the anime world.

5. A story is always based on a pairing.

6. Everyone sucks at summaries.

7. Kagome always runs away from her problems, especially when she sees Inuyasha and Kikyou doing the grass-thumping.

8. Kagome kicks everyone’s butt, except when she needs to be rescued by her knight in shining armour. Same goes for Sango.

9. Inuyasha always has to choose between Kagome and Kikyou, like having to decide whether to buy a brand name or a no name brand.

10. Sesshoumaru/Kagome based stories are always nice and romantic, while Inuyasha/Kagome stories are full of hot sexy time.

11. Kagome is always crying (and running away)

12. Inuyasha is always swearing (Fuck yeah!)

13. Kagome likes to bitch fight with Kikyou, where the latter is promptly turned to dust.

14. The first chapter of a Sesshoumaru/Kagome story begins with Kagome seeing Inuyasha/Kikyou grass-thumping, running away while having the biggest angst known to mankind, while Inuyasha being the prick he is, doesn’t even care. Either that, or Inuyasha and Kagome have the biggest fight where he declares his heart still belongs to Kikyou, and then...

15. A romantic story always ends up having lots of sexy time, and then, OMG, babies!!

16. I want my love life solved by some thirteen year old OC snot.

17. Only an OC, more beautiful than the word itself, would know how to defeat Naraku, make Sesshoumaru’s heart melt, and still get her assignment done and sent in by the due date.

18. Inucest is the hottest thing I have ever seen. I mean, who cares that they are brothers? They are hot. Except when something happens to make Inuyasha pregnant. How is that possible? Unless there was something I must have missed while reading the manga.

19. All OCs are neko.

20. All OCs are named after precious stones, or Japanese words for dream or flowers.

21. Kagome’s ultimate dream is to go on a prom date with Inuyasha, on his conveniently human life.

22. They have proms in Japan?

23. Kagome comes home to find her house has been burnt down, her family killed by some murderous murderer. Then she gets dumped by Inuyasha.

24. Kagome always listens to music from Evanescence whenever she is in angst mode.

25. Inuyasha and Kagome’s first child is usually a girl.

26. Sesshoumaru is a big shot CEO of some company, who finds love after all these years.

27. Conversations that involve romance are always awkward and long.

28. Rin always has to fall ill; because that’s the only way she can get Sesshoumaru to notice Kagome’s motherly instincts.

29. Kagome always needs confirmation from Inuyasha that he loves her.

30. For some reason, nobody likes Hojou.

31. Hojou is the incarnate of the devil, or Naraku.

32. Everyone loves character bashing.

33. Something always has to happen before the other realises, sometimes too late, that they love him/ her.

34. Everyone can go into the well and end up in Kagome’s time.

35. Kagome solves all her angst problems with Inuyasha, by running into the arms of Sesshoumaru, after he has rescued her from a rabid youkai.

36. Miroku can’t control his hand (the bum feeling one).

37. Miroku’s catchphrase is, “Will you bear my child?”

38. Sango’s catchphrase is, “Hentai!!!” then a slap.

39. Other characters from this series and from other fandoms, take pity on poor, poor Kagome being constantly hurt by Inuyasha, and either pair her with Sesshoumaru, or some other guy from a completely different anime.

40. Kagome always has a deep, dark secret, and Inuyasha has to find out what it is before it’s too late.

41. Ever read a seemingly interesting story, only to find out that its plot is riddled with horrible clichés and stereotypical characterisation?

We would like to announce a competition, the first of its kind, for all writers who enjoy penning fiction from the manga/anime, “Inuyasha”.

Take the familiar scenario – Kagome runs away from Inuyasha after having an argument, or after having seen him and Kikyou together, and then after periods of angst, Inuyasha’s confused feelings and such, they come together in love confessions and a happy ending – and write it in the most clichéd way as possible. This includes bad clichés of every kind, one-dimensional characterisation, over the top emotions, and long confessions of love.

Entries are due no later than Sunday, 12AM, 24 May, 2009. So, if you are interested, please, do your worst!

The art world is funny, isn't it? Of all the terrible things we see these days, people still seem to not want to see a nude body in an art gallery. Such an age old debate, no matter how advanced our age has become. What is appropriate and what is not? Anything but reproductive organs, apparently... Remind you of DA?
