The bad news is my computer has been crashing within a few minutes of me turning it on. Sadness. I'm stealing a friend's computer to write this and check deviantart and such, but while I would like to do more updating and drawing it's going to be difficult without my computer.

Fortunately, I was able to save all of my art and my work so far on my comic onto a flash drive and a CD-RW. The only things I have yet to save are my photos, so it's not too bad--it's just really frustrating! I'm going to try to take it in to the university IT center tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Hopefully I'll be more productive with art this year, but I'm still in college so it's unlikely. However, this will be my last year in college! Whoah! I will graduate this year in December. Can't wait! With that in mind, I think I'll retract my previous statement about having my comic ready to post some time this year. Most likely it will be up in 2010. I refuse to believe that having a job in the "real world" is more time consuming than trying to get good grades in college, so hopefully after this year I will have more time for art.

In other news, I'm currently planning to attend Further Confusion in San Jose, California on January 24th, and possibly the 25th, depending on how it goes. This year I'll bring my art stuff and happily take small commissions and trades! And maybe I'll bring some reference images of Azura so I can commission her from a few people. If anyone else will be there, let me know!

I have been working on my comic though! It's pretty much all written, so I'll be doing a rewrite and starting to draw pages. It should definitely I hope (durrr) start being posted next year some time.

Also, I will probably be cleaning out my gallery scraps and a couple random doodles soonish. And by soonish I might mean sometime in the next three or four months, naturally.

In the meanwhile I am having a mini-contest. The first person who can tell me the song I'm thinking of wins. The kicker is, I don't know the name of this song, but it's been stuck in mine and my boyfriend's and everyone we can tell's heads because it's very catchy. AND I JUST heard it played on the radio on an oldies station, but they didn't say the name of it and I didn't catch any helpful lyrics because I only recognize the end, and the lyrics at the end go like this:

"Doo doo doo doo doo, Doo doo doodoodoodoo,
Doo doo doo doo doo, Doo doo doodoo"

Over and over and over again. Do you know how hard it is to look up songs on google by typing "Doo doo doo doo doo?" At any rate it's an older song and is very vocal and harmonic and such. Some of us were thinking Doobie Brothers, but this has not turned up any helpful results.

*EDIT* thought I should add that the "doo doo doo" part is sung at the very end of the song and fades out to the end, as is sung by what I'm thinking is multiple guys singing fairly high pitched. Does that help any?*/EDIT*

The Long Version:
I'm still alive!!! Sorry for the severe lack of art. School's just been keeping me so busy.

The school year will be over for me on June 12, when I have my last final yeyz! I will then have one week off, during which I plan to upload any stray sketches I may have- which isn't many, but you do what you can, right? I will then be taking off for ITALY for a four week painting program through UC Davis. I'm very, very, VERY excited about this, and will hopefully be getting a lot of art done! Well, besides the painting assignments, which I will obviously be getting done. They will be uploaded along with the assignments from my beginning painting class last summer, which I never uploaded. Whoops.

Also, while I haven't been arting much, I have been writing for my comic, and I plan to start drawing for it while in Italy in between paintings. My goal is to start posting it before the end of the year. But, I need a place to post it, and I have finally admitted to myself that despite THINKING I know how to handle websites, I don't. If anybody with experience would be willing to help me design/code a website- preferably along with explanation so I know how to change stuff and all- I might be willing to pay for such services. I'd definitely be willing to do art for you and love you forever. I'm not making any commitments yet, but if anyone might be interested in helping me with this let me know.

Second of all, I'm planning to start taking commissions soon. Currently I don't have a price table set up, but if anyone's interested right now feel free to contact me and I'm sure I can name a price for you.
In an attempt to get more publicity I'm planning to go sign up for a lot of other art communities, join clubs, and get my website back up. Wish me luck. 8)

Third of all, I'm finally getting near 5,000 hits (gee, that only took... THREE AND A HALF YEARS! @_@). Anyways, if you notice you're the 5000th visitor I will make for you a picture of a character of your choosing. I'll probably ink it and color it in photoshop.

Fourth of all, I'm really not sure it's grammatically correct to say things like "second of all," "third of all," and "fourth of all," even though "first of all" is quite okay.

Lastly, and fifth of all, tagged me. Now I have to say fifteen things about myself I guess So anyways.

1) I'm currently studying pre-vet, which means hopefully one day I'll go to vet school and be a veterinarian. Yays!

2) I'm allergic to cats. But, I still love them and want to have one despite the fact that they make me wheeze all night D=

3) I used to play a lot of video games but now I just don't have time so they sit there and taunt me. Grr!

4) I like to make comments like Yays! and Grr! And hehe! and faceys and other such things, and I do so excessively! XD

5) I hate it when I'm typing and I happen to have a colon next to a parenthesis and it turns into a facey. >=[

6) I like sushi a lot, but I'm allergic to fish. Fortunately I can eat shellfish and I stuff myself with dragon rolls and ebi. Mmm, draaagon roll.

7) I love any soda that is fruit flavored. Especially strawberry!

8) I also love strawberries, except when they're so cold it hurts my teeth to bite into them.

10) The backs of my top front teeth are very sensitive to cold, and isntead of getting brain freezes I get really bad vibes in my teeth. Nurrr.

11) My least favorite sound ever is the sound of the dentist drilling holes in your teeth. Uuugh.

12) I'm terrified of needles; while having blood drawn for a test (they only fill a little vial, it's not even a whole pint!) I have shaken so badly that I stopped bleeding and then afterwards almost passed out. I can't watch scenes on TV or movies in which an injection takes place. Yet I still want to be a vet.

13) I realized that I'll probably never have another summer off again and last summer was my last one. Sadness! Currently, IF I take full time summer sessions from now until I graduate I can graduate in four years and one quarter. Sigh.

14) I prefer cold weather over hot weather. It's been too hot lately, and all you can do about it is lie around in front of fans wearing as little as possible and you're still hot and sweaty. At least if it's cold you can bundle up and snuggle into your blankets in front of the fire with some hot cocoa...

15) I don't have very many dA friends, so I'm not going to bother tagging people. XD

Seriously. I need to study organic chemistry. But after an extended absence, my muse is back with a vengeance and keeps like... beating me over the head with the creativity fish whenever I open my chemistry book. I'm like "Okay, so the sulfuric acid reacts with the cycloalkanol - oh hey this should happen in my comic!!!" NURRRGH.

On the upside this means a lot of work has gone into my comic this weekend; hopefully I can have it all written out soon. But, don't get excited, because before I ever put pencil to paper and start drawing out the comic I am going to have the story completed and the pages all thumbnailed. Why? Because otherwise I will write myself into a dead end (I always do!) but I won't be able to go back and change it and I'll just get frustrated and give up and stop drawing it and any readers I may have would be disappointed. So, before releasing it to the public eye, I am going to make sure it is able to go to completion. Also, I'd like to know how many pages it's going to be ahead of time. So, hopefully sometime in the next decade, you know, after webcomics are no longer cool, my comic will be complete enough to start sharing on the internet.

Unfortunately, "Uh, sorry, yeah I failed organic chemistry, but I made this cool comic!" will not get me into vet school. So for goodness' sakes, creativity, just go away and leave me alone so I can study chemistry! Come back when I actually have time for you! @_@

In this form she has no fins except for the fin on the tailtip (though you may leave this off if you wish), and her wings are a bit too small to allow flight (you may also leave these off if you wish- you may have noticed that I do)
Also, she usually wears something green.

WHY do people keep faving my "Vaporeon" and "Pokemon" pictures!?! Seriously, they're in scraps, they're super old, and they're fanart (gag). I should delete them so maybe more people will pay attention to pieces that are actually still representative of my art? Pah.

Actually all my scraps are pretty much just old crap... I neither want people commenting on them or favoriting them, they're just there to be looked at.. I guess I was thinking people could see my scraps and see my improvement, but they seem to get at least as much appreciation as the recent stuff I've actually put time into. Maybe I should just delete them all? Meh.

On another note, it's almost my spring break, so I MAY be accepting a few requests again soon. Maybe. But not yet.

And yay I got 4,000 hits! Picture for the person who gets 5,000. (I have so few hits after like 3 years. Maybe I need to go around faving more art? XD)

sorry, I don't think I'm going to be done by Christmas. Had too much gift shopping and card-making for loved ones. Since I'm going to be spending Christmas and the few days after at my boyfriend's, I won't be able to get them scanned for a while when I do finish them.

First and foremost: There are a few people who I know I said I'd draw something for, but I can't quite remember who or what and nobody replied to my last journal mentioning this. If you are one of those people please PM me and remind me what you wanted; my offer still stands.

YAY it's December tomorrow. That means we are at the epoch of the holiday season! Hurray! This also means a few other things:
1) Azura is in a happy holiday giving mood. YAY.
2) Azura has been very bad about drawing stuff lately. UNYAY.
3) Azura has finals coming up soon so that means she'll have MORE time... yes I know that's the opposite of most people, but since I don't study my brains out, preparing for a few hours of testing throughout the entire week is not nearly as time consuming as sitting in many hours of class followed by an hour or so of homework daily.
4) After finals, Azura has winter break!

So in conclusion I should have more free time and I would like some extra motivation to draw and seeing as it's the season of giving I have decided to take a few requests.

Terms~
-I am going to start off by taking THREE requests. I don't want to swamp myself.
-I haven't decided if I'm just going to do lineart/inks or actually color these yet, but let's say for now I'll do lineart. You're welcome to describe colors to me in case I get ambitious and decide to slap some colors on, but don't expect more than a lineart k?
-You're welcome to request anything you want as long as it's clean (use your judgement here), but do note that if it's not in my gallery I can't guarantee I can draw it well. Haha. I prefer to do characters/creatures/etc. but I'd be willing to take a crack at a challenge.
-If you're interested please PM me the details. I'll edit this message when request space is full.

Okay! The idea is I want to try to get these done by Christmas, but I can't promise that... perhaps you've noticed how slow I've been lately.. but Christmas is my goal.

Anyways, things are starting to slow down for me now I think, and soon it will be summer and I will have absolutely NO studying to do. YAY. I'm hoping to have a job, but at least non-professional jobs like the one I'd get over the summer would not follow me home, unlike schoolwork. Whew.

Got one piece uploaded today.. I think I've actually uploaded one or two since the last journal update and just forgot to mention it.. ah well. Also updated my icon, yayness.
Should hopefully see some more art coming in soon! Oh, and I know I owe a few people art, but an opportunity to draw came up and I haven't drawn in a long time and I wanted to do something for myself, hehe. Hopefully I can get the art I owe out of the way fairly soon; but if I don't, don't worry about it; it will get done.

Unfortunately I've had a bit of an art block lately.. oh sadness. And then I got sick. Oh double sadness! Last Tuesday was horrible.. vomited all morning and then slept from 1:00 in the afternoon until the next day. Uugh. I'm better now, but still pretty stuffed up.. especially my head. Poor stuffy head. And then my brand spankin' new glasses broke.. because I'm a dork and I sat on them. Actually one of the tiny screws fell out, so it's fixable, but I need to take them to a glasses shop or something. And then my teeth started aching.. I think it might have something to do with my wisdom teeth coming in crooked. Yeah, I've still got my wisdom teeth.. to me, "They might come in crooked, etc" was NOT a good enough reason to undergo surgery, even a minor one.. but now "They ARE growing in crooked," so I guess I need to get them pulled. Uuugh. And then I got my period (you know, I originally tryed a few euphemisms for that, but they just sounded dumb.), and now my stomach hurts. And my back. Bleh. So yeah, bad week. I am one unhappy Azura right now

Unless I stay up all night tonight and put it in the mail tomorrow morning.. or if I draw it while in Vegas and deliver it in person.. which might work okay because then they can have the present of my presence.
This trip also interrupts with an online horse ranch sim I play.. poo. Bad timing. Ah well...

Anyways I'm home for the holidays, which is good, but I forgot how slow my internet connection is compared to the campus connection. Websurfing is suddenly painful.. I am so spoiled! Don't expect any updates until I get back to campus. Hopefully I can get some art done, though.

Now, most, sane people would be worried about finals and thinking "Ahh! Study, study study!" but me and my.. incapability of studying.. I'm thinking "Oo, finals. No class.. free time! Yay!" So I might have a bit more art this week. And since the following two weeks are off, there may be some more art then...

Although I probably should study. Passing classes is important.. I just don't really feel like I need to. Hmm. Except for archaeology. That final is going to kill me <--like that. And the fact that I must take this final on 8:00am on Saturday morning does not help.. . I should probably study for that one. And my psychology exam is on Friday at 7:00am.. I don't see the point in going, nothing makes sense to me at 7:00am! Maybe it's secretly some sort of psychological study.

(Edit: Whoops, read the time wrong. It's a 7:00pm final.. whew.. much better. Now I don't have to die on Friday AND Saturday, just Saturday. )

Anyway, today I uploaded lots of stuffage. Should be adding on some giftart, and then some NEW stuff that NOBODY's seen because I haven't scanned it yet.
