After peeking at your guys' votes (after many unsuccessful attempts at logging in to actually tally those votes) and finding Spock to be in the lead, I made the mistake of telling the Fang (oh so aptly named, in light of her vicious mouth), who promptly vetoed it. In short, if I dress "dorkily" enough, for which Spock qualifies, she'll never let me hear the end of it. :headsmack:

Her alternate idea, sprung on me a bit too late for my liking, was a group Monty Python & the Holy Grail bit, which I suggested two years ago ( *grumble*) and she - oh, surprise - vetoed.
Not to mention I let slip my other hopeful costume, Dock Ock, and was tongue-lashed yet again for my sister-embarrassing nerdiness. Needless to say, I've been feeling pretty Emo this week.

IF I dress up this year (aka, if I'm not working Halloween night), it'll probably be my standby of some 6 years now, Captain Frigging Jack Sparrow. I really don't think I'll have time to put anything else together.

*bangs head on table repeatedly in anticipatory mourning of Halloween*
Again, sorry for getting folks' hopes up.

First off, in case it hasn't become clear, I've had very little time for DA lately, and that's not likely to change. I won't be responding to a lot of comments, just b/c I'm low on time to do so, but rest assured I WILL be reading each and every one! Promise!

And, again, my Watch-list has gone over 400, and will be cleared. If there are any Deviations you guys have done and really want me to see, send meh linkies!
-----------------------------

NOW...

In anticipation of Halloween, I have attempted to decide on a costume, but, seeing as I won't be going anywhere this Halloween (at least, not to my knowledge yet), I really have no clue what to do.

So, if you guys wanna help me decide what to dress up as, here's your chance! I'll take new costume suggestions into consideration, especially if more than one person likes it. (I was really hoping for Peter Allen or Freddie Mercury this year, but alas, I seem to have plateaued for the time being, and am not quite thin enough yet to fit those costumes. Sorry, Spazzy. )

Most of my former costumes are incomplete, too big now, or require longer hair, which limits my standbys.

Other random pieces I have to work with are my Jack Sparrow costume (just accessories sans pants, vest, and shirt right now),a jean jacket, long green scarf, newsboy cap, many tee-shirts, a pair of moccasins, a cable-knit vest with detachable faux fur at the collar, some neckties, the Elton John purple glasses and pink boa, big 1970s plastic-frame eyeglasses, ratty red "pirate" sash, tooth black-out putty, my black hornrim glasses, plaid flannel shirts, and some metal-trimmed black leather fashion cuffs.
-------

I guess that's it for now. Keep the suggestions coming, and keep in mind, please, that I've gotten my hair cut! I'm at least six months' growth away from considering Wolvie, Hobbits, anime boys, Edward Scissorhands, or Van Helsing. The length it's at now is more Doc Ock.

This is your chance to see me cosplay the character of your choice Halloween night! Get voting!
I'll add my own suggestions, too, if anything springs to mind.
--------

CURRENT SUGGESTIONS:
Spock - 1
Werewolf - ?
Carl (VH) - 1
Newsie - ?
Wybie - ?

VOTING ENDS OCTOBER 1ST!

Okay, so my PC froze up four times in succession this morning, and then I found out my anti-buggy scan's coding got warped and wouldn't allow that part of the protection program to work.
Then, after my fourth time restarting the comp, I miraculously received a notification that a new version of my anti-bugstuff was available. But, the dowload kept jamming up and telling me that I needed to update Windows first.

Two hours and six downloads later, most of my issues seem fixed. The compter still runs slower than it did before its 'accident', but it hasn't frozen up again. However, the "harddisc failure imminent" warning still comes up every time I boot the thing.

And of those Windows downloads, one was the newest version of IE. I'm hating it already. (It doesn't do the nifty thing like its predecessor, where it auto-suggests URLs from your Favourites. WTH?)

We'll see how much longer the stability lasts. Damn Vista.
----

Luckily, I've finished watching all seven seasons of Deep Space Nine! (The DVDs don't play on a normal DVD-player, only PC drives with certain codecs. No computer = no Star Trek.)

Stress and nerdiness must be getting to me; I started writing a scriptfic with all the main characters working my toystore job. Sadly, I don't think it's as funny to folks who don't know firsthand what I'm talking about.
--------
Phone-in Customer: I just bought a ride-on toddler warbird for my kid, and I'm trying to figure out where the battery's located. I didn't realise they came pre-installed.

O'Brien: You're welcome. Bye now. *hangs up*
----

Yes, I know it's nerdy and not even very good.
First off, may I say this movie was far more disappointing than I could have anticipated. Here be the down-an'-dirty review.

As I feared, (though not to the extent warranted in the end,) casting beyond Jackman and Monaghan generally sucked. I was, thankfully, proven wrong about Liev - he pulled off Sabretooth well, even as a younger version of X1-X3 Sabes. Unfortunately, this didn't begin to account for the fact Dog/Victor's storyline was nonexistent, aka gutted, aka not even so much as nailed to its perch. 'Tis an ex-storyline.

Of all the things rumoured to be in this new, all-encompassing journey, the only bit that was really put in was the guest appearance by - guess who - Wolvie's One True Love Interest, Scott Summers. At least my Jackman-fawning-over-Marsden theory still holds the ring of truth via tribute to his character.
BUT WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO JAPAN?!?!?!?!?!?!? Interview after interview saw Jackman promising us the inclusion of "the Japan connection," and you'd think there would be at least some MENTION of Madripoor, but no! We got Canada, Three-Mile Isle, and a quick peek at Africa that didn't even have anything to do with Storm or other mutants based in that area.

The entirety of Wolvie lore, as far as this movie is concerned, hath been squished down to a limp, withered account of the adamantium bonding process and Wolvie's daddy issues. The ending wasn't even an ending; how anticlimactic was that adamantium-bullet ploy?

--
Stryker: If all else fails, my fallback will be these shiny, pointy adamantium bullets! After all, everyone knows adamantium is indestructible, even to adamantium itself. He won't remember a thing!

Audience: Heh. Poor, deluded fool. We've seen this before. Bullet hits skull, we count to sixty seconds, bullet pops out again. Almighty Wolvie is fine, with barely a dent to the ego.

*Stryker shoots Wolvie, futilely adding one extra ka-pow for good measure*

Audience: Here it comes! Our hero shall prevail so we can see what REALLY happened once those scientists got their hands on him!

Wolvie: Who am I? Why do you have a stick? Am I supposed to feel mournful over this chick dying? Am I a chick, too?

Audience: HOW. THE. HELL. DID THIS. MAKE IT OFF THE CUTTING ROOM FLOOR?

*Credits start rolling*

Audience: *commits hari-kari with various bladed movie-replica props*
--

... Aside from a few highlights (Mr. Jackman's two glorious minutes of arse-flashing, the sparse clips of our strangely un-beaked Hobbit Mr. Monaghan, and Remy getting elbowed unconscious mid-sentence), it really wasn't worth the price of the ticket.
The gratuitious ass-shots and killer CGI made the movie. Without those, there is nothing to call a movie. Just a big, steaming pile of mutant DNA-driven cameos and comic-book-wannabe punchlines.

X3 was gold compared to this. Which is really painful for me to say, seeing as I had so much faith in Mr. Jackman's abilities if given a larger role in production.

So much more could have happened to give it plot... Instead of being killed, Beak, Johnny, and the others could have been taken back and messed with, maybe mutating Monaghan's character further so he would have the wings and beak. Wolvie could have then fought or saved them. An offscreen death for Mrs. Howlett, or, at the VERY least, an explanation about who Thomas Logan was and that he was a mutant gene carrier. Something from the days in the Yukon mining camp to help flesh out the Sabes/Wolvie past. The real, horrific, well-known story of Logan's transformation into Weapon X? (I.E, as detailed in the comics and in books such as the one by Marc Cerasini)
And, um, Silverfox? Helloooo? Where'd ya go, lady? (I know, the faked death was meant to be symbolic of hers, but there's still not much of the Native American, nature-connection thing, either, besides calling him an animal.)

One thing that fans had asked for after X1-X3 was to see Wolvie's true full-blown berserker rages. Well, they got it. Two long freaking hours of it in state-of-the-art CGI, and not much else.

Even as a pilot episode for a TV series, that would've sucked unless there was gonna be a Part II.

I go now to drown my sorrows in whiskey and Star Trek.
----

But hey, Tac, at least we've got a hell of a lot of slash material out of this. Wolvie buck naked in a barn, lost and huddled in a horse stall certainly counts for something. *sigh* <img src="http://e.deviantar...

That'll make stuff fun for Dad. <img src="http://e.deviantart.com/emoticons/p/plotting.gif" width="18" height="20" alt=":plotting:" title="Hmm.
*grumbles at DA for overloading while I tried to write this, making me start from scratch*

Okay, so about that last journal... sorry to leave everyone hanging in my bitchy-whiney-emo crypticness for two weeks. Part of that, if anyone cared to know, was thanks to my mum bringing up stuff that I thought we'd put to rest, or at least agreed to not talk about.

Another reason for the long disappearance was my getting a second job. On most of the days I'm not selling toys and baby bottles, I'm now making pizzas.
Julian seems to be feeling neglected now that I work twice as many hours, but, on the upside, it's a big step closer to getting my own apartment.

Arts and crafts have been at a standstill until now, but my priorities are the same - Ria, Birdie, and RogueMarie's items are being done in tandem with personal and eventual-Etsy-stock items. Drawings and fics are coming as I get inspiration for them.
Sadly, Katie's VH Christmas fic is on the back burner yet again; I've hit a plot snag because I forgot to write down a part I already had planned in my head, and I'm still trying to remember how it went.

Other than that... I'm still feeling kinda emo-ish, so my free time this week'll probably be spent with booze, The Sims 2, and my new full set () of Deep Space Nine DVDs. Meaning, not much message-answering will be going on. Sorry again.

So, yeah... Logi out. Just, not for so long this time.

So much for giving myself a weeklong break, like I said I was going to. Instead, Murphy's Law kicked in and I caught my third Winter cold/flu. Go figure, eh? So my main reason for being away and antisocial was really my inability to breathe, rather than my initial Emoness and despair.

In the time I've been away, I've decided that I'm going to start up an Etsy.com account soon to sell some of my craft-work. I'm gonna wait until I have a decent amount of items already made, but I'll let you all know as soon as sales are set to go. Just in case there's somethin' ya might like. ^^
Once I get set up on Etsy, "Hanami At Mt. Fuji" will be going up there, too, assuming no one on DA has sent me an offer before then. (In other words, this is your last chance to haggle for it! The price will be a set one on Etsy.)

Speaking of Murphy's Law, I did a Stupid the other day. I tried dyeing the top of my hair blue, but forgot what happened the last time I tried such a thing. Thanks to my mum's side of the family, I have to leave any bleaching/colouring stuff in my hair for at least double the recommended time if I want to see any results.

The mixture I bought was supposed to be a 10-minute deal, at maximum. I ended up leaving it in for 15 minutes, and when I washed it out... The tub was filled with blue, and all that happened to my hair was a light frosting of amber-brown.

I mean, it looks good, but... it's... not... BLUE!

Judging by that, I'm guessing I would've had to leave the mix in for more like 45 minutes or an hour before the dye would've taken. Now I've got a friggin' NSYNC look or something instead.

In other news... I has fic! An all-nighter produced my first-ever Star Trek fic, "I've Seen Everything". Which, BTW, is named in honour of a certain episode of "Extras". The one with Patrick Stewart. If you haven't seen it yet, go YouTube search it; 'tis funny!
The story can be found on the Miscellaneous Fics page of my archive site, at the bottom of the list. This story has also been crossposted to my LiveJournal.

Sorry to say that not much progress has been made on other fics, though. And, as usual, my mind went off at warp 5 and gave me a few more Star Trek plot bunnies to try and tame. They won't be added to the To-Do List, but I'll write them up if I still can't lift the persistent writer's block I've been experiencing on everything else.

Finally, I'd like to announce that the main portions of Birdie's hat and Ria's mask are underway, though I'm still ironing out a few design kinks in Ria's. (Yes, the not-so-fun kind of kinks.)
However, not all of my sewing/craft time can be devoted to those, as I still need to finish the full 8 chair cushions for the fam, and also need to crochet stuff for my upcoming Etsy stock. Trust me, the crocheting is the fastest, hence why I've chosen it as my main medium for the sale items; that way, it won't cut in as much to the time needed to finish my DA trades.

--
My next journal will probably be movie reviews. I splurged a bit and got some DVDs, one of which I've never watched before. The other two are Rocky Horror and I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, which I've seen before, so I won't review those.

And yes, my sister taped the Oscars, but NO, I still have not had a chance to watch the tape. Spoilers will still be met with a baseball bat to the head.

... And, due to residual Emoness, I'm still not likely to answer my messages very fast. Sawwy.

At the end, you have to choose and tag 8 people and post their icons on the same journal.
4. Go to their pages and send a message saying you tagged them.
5. No tag-backs.

(I swear, this has got to be the most-tagged thing on all of DA. I’ve gotten it what, seven times now?)
Let’s see how interesting I can make it this time...

1. The first Halloween costume I ever picked for myself was Aladdin.

2. I have a history of purposely creeping people out before they go to sleep, usually after a good, in-depth discussion on ghosts and the paranormal. Plus a few instances of sneak-attack cackling without warning. (*cough* and I admit to being the reason my sister needed a nightlight as a kid... not that I‘m overly remorseful.)

3. The longest I’ve ever stayed awake is three and a half consecutive days, and it was because of multiple simultaneous projects for school.

4. I have played a woman onstage.

5. I’m finally wearing size Medium, but most of my wardrobe is still Extra Large.

6. TV news crews have filmed me at work, twice now, because I always seem to be the one at the cash register when there’s a VIP customer. O.o I missed both stories when they aired, tho.

7. My first crush (that I can remember) was Ariel the Little Mermaid.
(BTW, I just re-watched some of that on YouTube... During the song “ Poor Unfortunate Souls”, watch Ursula’s boobs. They bounce in ways I totally didn’t remember before. And she licks her teeth as she’s taking Ariel’s voice. Watch it. Look for those. It’s freaky.)

8. I weird out my co-workers by sneaking up on them - unintentionally - and being able to hear their conversations from 50 feet away. Surprised myself on the latter once I realised it.

I can’t really think of anyone to tag who hasn’t been already at some point. Screw it.

---
Something I forgot to mention in my last journal was that, one day at work, I saw something really touching. I was working the cash register, and a mom checked out with her two sons... And she’d bought them each a Barbie, a Ken doll, and a playset to match. The boys were both excited, and from their jabber, I gathered that they’d played with Barbie toys before. It surprised me at first, but it was heart-warming to see someone endeavouring to pass on a more open-minded outlook to their children regarding the strict barriers society should have learned to give up long ago.

Similarly, a while back before Christmas, a lady came in with her nephew to get him an EasyBake oven, since he had aspirations to become a chef. We got to talking after her complaint that the oven wasn’t available in any colour aside from pink. We agreed that it should come in alternate colours to break from the notion that baking is a girls-only activity. Particularly considering the fact most successful chefs are men. She got the oven for the boy, but resolved to write a letter to the makers of the EasyBake regarding the gender-specific implications.

Moments like these really make up for all the times I say “How can I help you?” to a customer and get asked to help them find “the boys‘ section”, or “something appropriate for a girl”. I silently fume when I hear those requests, because even though the people asking are just operating via the social standards they’ve been taught, they’re adults and should have the intelligence to question those standards, leading to some kind of insight. Most of them have the ingenuity. Just not the desire.

Girls cook and clean, become vets and nurses, like playing with dolls and singing songs.
Boys learn to utilise a toolbox, fix and construct, have pretend wars and empires, and their only humanoid toys wear weapons and armour.

Imagine how many infuriated parents would boycott and protest if one of the action figures their son had his heart set on was clad in, say, pink camo.
The thought of how many makes me sick.

And God Bless that woman who bought the Barbies. Most folks who’re unsure of my gender tend to pick one and stick with that, if they mention it at all. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard, “Oh, Logan? That’s such a pretty name!”
To her credit, this particular woman was the only one who, however uncertainly, switched between ‘he’ and ‘sheÂ...

The flu seems to have finally left me!

Whoo, and it appears I've missed a bunch while I was gone. WTF is it with the DA designers' obsession to change the damn layout so often?! On the other hand, I ish still happeh 'cause....guess who reached 10,000 Pageviews!!! Thank you everyone!
Boo-yah.

Now for random updates, which may or may not have to do with art:

The vote for you-know-who's name ended with "Julian" winning by a relative landslide... Both here on DA and at home. So, The kitty formerly known as Marishka is now Julian!
I'm still holding off on getting him de-nutted, though. I really dun wanna do that to the poor guy.

Logan would like to report an interior decorating emergency in his living room. The Ogre of the household actually decided to listen to my suggestion (for once) that he get plastic protectors for his "precious furniture" to protect it from Julian's claws. Now tell me, if you were told plastic protector sets were a good idea, would you take that to mean you should duct-tape whole, huge, plastic painting tarps over the couch and recliner? ...And I thought the set looked bad *before*...

Over the almost-month I had the flu, I mostly gelled and watched YouTube (IT WORKS ON THIS COMP! HALLELUJAH!) and found a few Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episodes. Needless to say, I’ve found a new slash pairing, or I probably wouldn’t even have mentioned the show, right?
Only thing is, I’ve had to read Garak/Bashir fics to get into the slashy side of the fandom, as there is very little O’Brien/Bashir to be found. After nearly thirty fics, I’m still not used to the idea of gay Cardassians. Mainly because I’ll never get used to the idea of naked Cardassians. Yick.
(For those not in the know, the Cardies are gray, reptilian-ish, and have scaly ridges. Much speculation has been written of how far down those ridges go.)

And I know most of you reading this are female, but may I just say... Major Kira is SO EFFING HOT. First time I’ve actually seen someone make boots look sexy.
Okay, yes, I know Van Helsing had big leather boots on with all those straps, but did you ever notice they’re not really visible in the movie? Only in the promo stills. O_o

Still working on getting the next part of “Van Helsing’s First Christmas” up on my site. It’s kind of a matter of cleaning my room to make space for the laptop... Being sick doesn’t put one in the mood for domesticity at all. I promise soon!

Now that Holiday hours aren’t in effect at work, I should hopefully have more free time. Keep an eye out for slow updates to the To-Do List Journal Post! Unless the fewer-hour thing is a false alarm. There was talk a while back about good workers getting scheduled for more hours... I dunno how “good” I rank, but if I’m in that category, I might have the same amount of hours as during the Holiday season. We shall see how the next few weeks’ schedules look.

Big favour I have to ask of you guys: By my original writing, not my fanfics, what’s your opinion of it? In any and every aspect - creativity, form, accuracy, imagination, emotion, interpretability, tone, length, overall? I need unbiased, honest critique, so I can gauge where my writing stands. Thank you.
Most of it’s poetry, which should be in its own folder in my gallery now. If you wanna comment, Note,...

Quick post to let everyone know that yes, I did get my new computer, yes it is working BEAUTIFULLY, and yes, I'm still lagging on message-answering, which is because I've gotten my second flu in two months.
It started incredibly fast - it only took a few hours to get into my lungs, which normally takes about a week - and I somehow lost four pounds in 24 hours just by lying in bed. O___o; (Er, looks like I ended up going into that healing coma after all, ~Shockwavecg...)

On the upside, it's only the second day, and it seems to have improved a bit. Talk about speedy. I'm hoping it'll be gone completely by the time I have to work Tuesday.

Another update - I'd like a vote! I thought of another possible new name for the kitty no longer known as Marishka. The new name is from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, which I've begun to get into on YouTube. (I'd only really seen "Voyager" up 'til now.)

So, let ze voting begin!

Guybrush (Threepwood) - 2
Julian - 6

For now it'll be Guybrush, 'cause he actually responds to it. I'm not gonna go entirely by this vote, since I have to figure out which name he'll take better, but I'd still like to see what the general consensus is!

And I promise I'll get more message-answering done soon!
(I apologise in advance for any ADD-ness in this post. I just got home from work, and my brain's fried.)

Two puzzlements in particular I shall post here - the first and probably more important oddity is that Marishka is not Marishka. Marishka, apparently, is really Guybrush in disguise. Yes, folks, I has a boy kitty, and now that he's old enough, we were able to tell for sure that he is not a she.

The second puzzlement is just a semi-big mess at work that caused me to fall into Emo Mode again. There's not much I can do for now but hope any hard feelings will dissipate, so I guess the matter's closed. Sorta. Leave it to me to end up in the middle of a gay love triangle and still not get any.

Updates, I know, are going slow again. Birdie and Ria, your sewing is getting underway, but I still need the measurements for the piggy hat!
Katie (I can't believe I've never called you Katie in all of what, a year and a half? May I now?), your X-Mas story from last year shall have an update soon! Which brings me to a third puzzlement: My laptop which I thought I had killed lives again! I let my mum look at the serial number to see if my brother's laptop could be fixed with parts from mine, and my ma somehow miraculously fixed it whilst hitting random buttons. SO, this means updates to the fic archive won't take nearly as long as they have been! I have my prized editing program once again!

Now... hopefully, in an hour or so, when we open teh Christmas pressies, I will have my brand-spankin'-new compyootah and be able to get online at my apartment!

May the Christmas Kangaroo visit you all, and to all a good holiday.

Dunno yet if the items will be at set or negotiable prices, but I will definitely need to be compensated for shipping.
So would anyone be interested in buying, and does anyone who knows they will be buying have any requests? Requests should be made ASAP, since my materials are limited. (Drawing, Fic, and other copyrighted requests are still locked down, as I can't charge for those.)

(The Stupid Question) Anyone willing to take in the BW and his cat? ...Anyone?
If you need a reminder, I cook, bake, clean, do laundry, sew, do yardwork, enjoy giving backrubs, have a good eye for interior decorating, and come with my own furniture and wardrobe. ... Dang, but that last part sounded like a doll playset advertisement. But the bottom line is, I earn my keep! *puppy eyes*

On a lighter note, I've can borrow a camera after next week, so I'm thinking of trying another YouTube video, in addition to the Marishka ones. Only, I have no clue what to make the video about. Any suggestions? Nothin' too fancy, as I'll have to hold the camera myself or set it down in one spot.

Back to talk of sales and such - If I were to start an EBay account, anyone interested? Among items I know I'm looking to get rid of are an electric guitar & amp, a collection of Troll figurines, and probably all the clothing/jewelry/knicknacks my mum didn't get around to auctioning off last year. (She's an EBay-er on haitus, so all that stuff's just sitting around, not being used.)
Also, as I've mentioned, the Elton John costume would definitely go up for sale. Sunglasses and boa included.

WHAT... is the circumference... of a moose?

--
Quick update for anything else...
- I’m trying to find another version of FrontPage, because I really don’t have time to manually edit my webpages. I have more chapter updates that will go up eventually, and one or two new stories.
- Having had a cold this past week, I had time to stay home and get more video of Marishka! [YouTube] There's another video, too, but DA screws up the link.

Birdie, I still need your hat measurements! Tell me if I need to resend the list, please!
Ria, I’m about to start on your mask. The fabric has enough stretch that I’m sure a one-size-fit-all thing will work.
RogueMarieLeBeau, your bear has hair and eyelashes already, and I’ll be able to start the costume once the other two items are done.

For everything else, keep your eyes peeled for updates to the Request Master List journal-post! I haven’t updated it yet, but I’m hoping to soon.

And, finally, my DevWatch (as in, stuff I’m watching from you guys) is nearing 1,000. There is no way I can get to all of them, so I’m going to delete the majority of them. If there’s anything you’ve put up within the last 8 months or so, I likely haven’t seen it. But, if it’s something in particular you really want me to see, Note me with links, and I promise I will look!

P.S.
Guess who was voted the Sexiest Man Alive? *whips out “My Bishi...

Spartan shimmying around to loud music while I was trying to paint his battle scars, I had to put up with the same Mr. "I am not drunk" Spartan jumping and dancing behind me as I tried to paint the demon's face. (Note to self - next time, cut the Spartan off at two shots.)

There were some really great costumes at the club, too, including Jack Sparrow AND Barbossa, a Stormtrooper (classic, eh?), a super-tall zombie thing, and a couple others that I can't really remember right now.

Anyhoo, for those interested, I has peektures!

[Avalanche making an earthquake]
[Avalanche & Wolvie] (we resolved to do something slashy!)
[~dwn-wt-vwlz and Marishka]
[Marishka attacking Avalanche]
[Marishka and her papa]
[Avalanche & Wolverine again, before the party]
and
[Marishka's First LOLcat picture] (well done, my young Padawan!)

I also tried to do some movieverse facial expressions, which I think I got pretty close: [link] and [link]

And that's that. Because this is just ridiculous.

I hope this friggin' works, 'cause if not, I think the only effective de-stresser for something like this would be drinking all of what's left of my whiskey. And then the rum.

And then the rum AND the whiskey will be gone, and I'll have to send Jack Sparrow to buy more. Which could take a very long time, as he'd have to sail up from the Caribbean to go to the liquor store up here, and then get the liquor to me by crossing a busy road riddled with construction zones.

Whee.
----

On a lighter note...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HUGH JACKMAN!

Teh Jackman turned 40! Marishka, this is everyone on DA.

Marishka's about five or six months old, loves any kind of rock music, and enjoys long walks back and forth among my computer wiring. Some kids found her wandering around where I live, and she ended up with one of the maintenance dudes, who gave her to me.

Her name was going to be Storm/Ororo, but CardinalFang vetoed that when we talked on the phone, saying the name made her think of Halle Berry.

So, Marishka eet ees. ^^ Und Marishka ees very cute und fluffy, and a lap-cat to boot. Plus, I think she really is half Vampire Bat.
Nipping my hands 'til I bleed = Vampire
Incident of pooping on the wall = Bat
So there.

... And it's an added bonus that I get to quote Dracula at random times and call, "Mareeeeeeshkaaaaaa!"

EDIT:
[Marishka on YouTube!]
----

Now, for the internet situation...

I think it may be resolved within the next couple weeks. Yeah, I've been saying "Oh, it'll be two months," or, "I think I'll find out in April," but this time looks much more hopeful.

To get my dad to accept the cat, I had to appease him by letting him know I have a job. I'd been trying to keep that a secret for as long as possible, since he's very likely to start demanding part of my paycheck. However, with Marishka to provide for, I think he'll leave me alone as long as I'm paying for her upkeep.

And, now that he knows I can pay for it, I'm gonna try to get internets. Someone's coming to re-route the cable wiring in the living room, which shares a wall with my bedroom closet, and to see if I can get high-speed internet on my side of the wall. That way, the outdated 1970's phone-jacks won't matter, 'cause I won't need 'em.

So, yeah - if all goes well, I'll have 'net access AT HOME by next Thursday.
----

Finally, an apology to anyone (one person in particular) who was looking forward to the Peter Allen costume this Halloween.

I have not the time nor the extra cash to get the necessary items this year, so I'm going with Plan B, which is Wolverine. I have all the pieces to that outfit (not like it was hard to put together), and I even got some theatrical muttonchops. (I can't really try to grow out my beard, b/c of work. Dammit.)

The gold leather pants will have to wait.

And I'm still trying to find out if I'm allowed to come to work in-costume on October 31st. <img src="http://e.deviantart.com/emoticons/p/plotting.gif" width="18" height="20" alt=":plotting:" title="Hmm.
Yesh, for those I have not told yet: I hath keeled my laptop.

It was secondhand and non-internet-compatible anyway, but it DID have the HTML editing program I was using to construct my fic site. Apparently, DOS takes up too much memory in Windows 2000 due to bad coding and poor compatibility, so installing Yukon Trail (an ancient game meant for DOS or Windows 3.1) was the last process the machine executed before biting the dust.
It shall now Rest In Pieces. It has gone to meet its maker. It is an ex-laptop.

Therefore, all updates to my fic archive are gonna take a hell of a lot longer, since I now have to type up all my code instead of having it automatically copy-pasted by the (ex) nifty little program. And I can't preview my pages before posting now, either, so there may be a haywire page or two as I update and work out any coding kinks. (Yes, coding kinks. Not the other kind. We wouldn't want to get rid of those kinks, now, would we? )

There is a slight possibility that, while DOS did max out Windows' physical memory and nearly fry the drive, the bigger problem could be the hard-drive installed in the laptop prior to the last owner selling it has come loose, or that the wires connecting that drive to the rest of the system are shot. I'm going to have someone take a look at it. If it turns out to just be a connection problem, and it gets fixed, I can then see whether Windows and the FrontPage program survived.
----

Next order of business... After almost two years of being out of school, I've finally realised I don't have to abide by my stupid, ever-annoying American spellcheck. I've turned it off, and have begun to write everything without it. (Except betas, of course.)

So, sorry if the half-American, half-Brit spelling I've been doing recently confuzzled anyone. You'll be seeing my old spelling in most of the new fics/chapters I'll eventually post. Again, sorry in advance if it throws anyone.

Speaking of which, I feel obligated to insert here a quick shout-out to my 10th-grade English teacher, who was from Scotland, and, sympathising with my dilemma (my teacher the year before kept marking my Brit/Aussie spelling as incorrect), let me use whichever spelling I preferred. Mr. M, that made sophomore year so much easier on me, and I thank you.
----

And ze cherry on top...

O.M.F.G.
I think last Friday was officially the BEST FRIGGIN' DAY I've ever had at work. This guy came in, looking for all the world like he could be Hugh Jackman's Indian cousin. If Hugh Jackman had a cousin from India, that its.

Anyway, while (sadly) he was there with who I assumed was his wife - though she could've just been his sister; I didn't ask - I at least had my Happy Moment talking with him and his assumed wife while I helped them find stuff. After that, I was kinda "Yay, that made my day seem so much better!" but, there was still a bit more to come! I saw them at the other end of the store later on, and the guy was leaning over a counter... which was right next to the cash register I was assigned to... and I shall unashamedly admit I got in a good, long stare at his arse.

Though his wife was very pretty, God, I couldn't stop staring at him. It was a very, very nice arse.

... Okay, I'll stop fawning now.
Ironically, though, while that guy didn't set off my gaydar, I did meet someone afterward who did. After work, I walked a few doors down to buy candles, and this other dude was looking at 'em, so I started up a conversation about the scents... And his interest ended at the candles. Gosh effing darn it.

I want to live someplace with a bigger gay dating pool. Probably not. I know it's not legal, but I really don't know which illegal drug it is, specifically. Just recognise the name.

Abortion. For, or against?
Pro-choice. If not abortion, some kids end up in orphanages or worse. And unwanted kids who are kept are often just neglected. Some people really shouldn't have kids, but for those who shouldn't and still do, why make them keep the child when they know they won't want to raise him or her? Not to mention, some people can't afford to be parents.

Would the United States fall with a woman president?
No harder than we've fallen with Mr. Uh-Duh-Ah'm-From-Texas-Where-Folks-Don't-Know-How-To-Talk. At least Hillary knows the ropes already, and she's doesn't have Obama's naive view of homosexuality. (Seriously, "Choice of lifestyle"? He thinks we choose to be gay? Then when the hell did he choose to be straight?)

Do you believe in the death penalty?
I hate to say it, but yes. Only because on top of overpopulation in general, those of us that abide by the law still pay for criminal facilities through taxes. It's like, "You did something bad? Here, you get to live for free, at everyone else's expense". Jail sucks almost as bad for those outside it as those in it.

Do you wish marijuana would be legalized already?
[EDIT b/c I forgot to answer this one]
*shrugs* No opinion. Me has no reason to want it to be legal or illegal! Bwahaha. Tobacco, on the other hand, is on the verge of being banned in my state, and I'm very unhappy about that. Look at the Prohibition! That didn't work, and I think the smokers will revolt if we try the same thing with cigarettes and - oh God, please no - mah cigars.

Are you for or against premarital sex?
Depends on the situation. In reference to abstinence as a religious practice, though, I think it's stupid to keep tradition if it means you don't find out enough about the person before you marry them. For the most part, older religions adopted the practice of abstinence to prevent the spread of STDs and to keep society in check when the world was less organised.
Nowadays, we have prevention, so as long as folks are careful, heck, go for it. Especially if it helps ensure you won't divorce the person later just because they suck in bed.

Do you think same sex marriage should be legalized?
YES.

Do you think its wrong that so many Hispanics and immigrants are moving to the USA?
No, I think it's only fair with all the dumb-ass US tourists plaguing the Hispanics. You wanna stop the immigration, help their country out. Otherwise, it's going to end up being a repeat of the near-genocide of the other Native Americans. America as we know it today was built by immigrants, which makes animosity towards new immigrants all the more hypocritical.

A 12 year old girl has a baby. Should she keep it?
One hundred years ago, she would have, and no one would think twice about it. She might even have been married by that age. (At least in Italy and Spain. Dunno about anywhere else, unless we're talking 150 years ago.) Now? I suppose, as long as it was her choice to have intercourse in the first place, she should at least be allowed the choice to keep the child. Since younger people today seem to be held to less responsibilities, and are, therefore, not really ready for said responsibilities due to lack of exposure to them, it would be a good idea to consider the 12-year-old's mother's willingness to help the girl raise the baby. Or, to have the mother take on the baby's upbringing herself.
...That is a sticky situation, though. O_o No matter how it's dealt with.

Should the legal alcohol age be lowered to 18?
No. With it at 21, some kids still begin drinking as early as 15. If it's lowered to 18, there's the possibility for many more younger highschoolers to acquire it through friends in the senior class.
For my old school, that would mean 12-year-olds could get their hands on it, since the 8th grade is integrated with the rest of the highschool.

Should the war in Iraq be called off?
Hell yes. Stop crying over unspilled oil and switch to those eco-friendly clean cars we all know are available, so Mother Nature doesn't come and bite you in the butt.

Assisted suicide is illegal. Do you agree?
It is, but it shouldn't be. I don't know if the movie The Sui...

I've included all my planned non-requests that have piled up over the past year and a half as well, for my own convenience and to give a more accurate sense of how long finishing everything may take.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FANFICTION
= Plot Bunny Status
= Story/Chapters In Progress
= Complete

---updated August 13th---

For ANONYMOUS:
Nightcrawler/Wolverine

For
Tesla/Angier

For
Xavier/Wolverine
"The Liberation"
BETA of "Narcissus"

For
Dracula/Van Helsing

For
["Van Helsing's First Christmas"]

For
Jud/Curly

Non-Request WIPs:
Moulin Rouge/Van Helsing crossover
<img src="http://e.deviantart.com/em...

'Cause I may be a homeless Hobbit soon, and living in my mother's basement isn't exactly an alternative I want to utilize.
I cook, I clean, I do dishes and windows, and I come with my own furniture! *ta-daaa* ... Nevermind; I know a disinterested look when I see one. -_-;

...Okay, now the news that affects DA:
There will be no more week-long or overnight visits to aforementioned mother's house, and, therefore, no more week-long or overnight periods where I'm online a decent amount of time. Also, efforts to get internet access where I live have proven especially useless recently, particularly in light of the sooner-or-later losing of that place to live.

Basically, everyone can expect less frequent uploads, possibly larger like the last one, and very little message-answering until further notice. As usual, I'll try to get to as many people in what time I do have, but that time will be considerably less.

In the meantime:
Sewing and craft requests are most definitely not open.
Birdie and Ria's items are the last on the official list, and will be finished. RogueMarieLeBeau's request is tentative - babe, you'll need to tell me if you still want the bear. I have fabric in my stash already that will work for that green costume you wanted, but I don't have the bear itself. I don't know when I can get the bear, so I can't tell you when I'd be able to start the project.

All fanfics are being worked on alternately. I've been getting more plot fodder recently, so a number of stories have seen some development. A few of them, I'm not sure will be long enough to post in chapters, so those might not be up until they're complete.
~gabrielsangel's Christmas Challenge will be split into chapters, so Ch.1 will be up soon.

In my new fic-site design, there will no longer be a separate page for NC-17 fics. They will be integrated into their respective Fandom/Movie lists, accessible to any visitors. I expect the younger crowd to use discretion and read responsibly. Some fics will start out at lower ratings, but go up as I continue them. I will try to put some kind of indication when this happens to make the rating change more noticeable before the story is clicked on.
The new design is easier to maintain, and hopefully easier for everyone to navigate, but I will separate and/or password-protect the Adult stories if need be. I know I can't stop people from looking if it's there, but for the love of Hamtaro, read the warnings, and don't read a story if you think it may evoke mental scarring.

I'm going to be posting a Master List, as a journal, of all the requested art and fanfics I've promised to do.
Once it's posted, everyone please make sure any and all things I have promised you are on the list. If I've forgotten something, remind me. I'll be using this to keep track, so if it's not on the list here on DA, I likely don't have it on my copy at home.
I will put further details in the List journal itself. If you'd like to know whenever the List is updated, please make sure you are subscribed to my Journal.

Seeing as the list is long already, I really do have to be picky about what I agree to from now on.
Depending on how the living-arrangements issue resolves, there may even be a period of a few months where I'm unable to add to fics, scan drawings, or be online at all. Though that is worst-case scenario, it is possible.

If there are items on the to-do list of which I'm not sure how the requesting person(s) wanted them done, those people will get Notes or something. Just, please don't expect those Notes right away. I may have to send them as I get to those items.

--
Oi. I know that was more direct and less interesting than usual, but I'm stressed and sleep-deprived, and I don't have that...

(Tuesday, July 29th)
Oh gawd.

It's 3 a.m, and I just had a nasty run-in with an unwelcome eight-legged guest in the bathroom. Bastard dared to sleep in my bathtub! I normally spritz those suckers with some 'Scrubbing Bubbles', but this guy was huge, so I figured I'd better bring out the big guns.

Hah. Guess what, bleach cleaner ISN'T as strong as Scrubbing Bubbles. The fiend managed to limp to the drain, which he wouldn't have been able to had I used the right weapon, so he was subsequently blasted away with a gallon or so of cold, hard water.

Next time, it's Scrubbing Bubbles.

*takes a couple swallows of whiskey* Ahh, that's better...
--
Happy happy, joy joy. (Wednesday)
Apparently I didn't get to that twit before there was some baby spiderness afoot. Luckily, the junior spiders don't have the sense to stay out of plain sight, and are easily targeted.

I just don't wanna know how many more I have left to find. -_-;

--
Updateses.... (today)
I just posted 10 Deviations and 3 Scraps. Holy moo-moo chewing cud, that's a lot for me. O__o Though, it does include a good deal of all that old poetry I've been saying I was going to post.

Also, I've found a bigger and better pic of the Gandalf Cake! Looks much better than the first angle.

And, just in case I don't have time today for all ze messages...
Birdie, I found the reciept for teh hat stuffs, and with the special sale prices, it cost so little that it would be ridiculous to have you pay me. Yer gettin' a freebie!
Spazzy, I'm still going slow on the writing, but I have started that Jud/Curly fic.
Currently, my highest-priority fic is the one I started in response to GabrielsAngel's Christmas challenge. That's been hanging way too long. (To a certain someone getting a certain X-Men fic, not to worry - I've started that, too, like I promised! 'Tis in plot-developing stages.)
I'm finally working on a new layout/design for my fic site. Hopefully, the menu will be legible this time.

...On a more personal note, I think my sketching skills are finally improving noticeably, and I'd like to just put on record here that I used to be able to draw like this years and years ago, but lost the ability for reasons I won't go into, and I truly never thought I'd even get to this level again. *happy tears* ...So, yeah. I surprised myself on my last Wolvie drawing. And even the X-Babies have come a long way.

--
P.S.
I forgot to mention last time that, in the upcoming Sherlock Holmes movie remake, someone apparently thought it was a good idea to cast Will Farrell as Dr. Watson.

This remake is doooooooooooomed.

First, let me start off with apologies to EVERYONE who's had a birthday within the last few months, whether I knew beforehand or not. I think I must've missed almost 10 in April alone. There were enough, here and elsewhere, that I can't even type up that many seperate apologies. (Lotta Spring babies. What was up with our parents nine months before that? ..... No, wait; don't answer that.)
Those of you who I promised art/fic-related pressies to, I don't think I've finished a single one. But I want to let you all know that I haven't abandoned ANY of those things, they're just taking a long time, as usual! Eventually, everyone will get the stuff I promised.

Nearly everything DA-related has been on haitus for the past couple weeks thanks to family drama escalating to idiotic levels. Mainly thanks to the ogre I live with, as some of you know (and can relate to knowing), but I won't go into details because I'm feeling Emo enough already. If you really wanna hear a rant, go ahead and Note me.

If anyone was wondering, (prob'ly not, right?) the thing with Ma fell through, even though she was great about it and was ready to let me move back in. So, in short, no steady internet for me until the ogre decides to get it. Same shit, different month.
Which is really the only reason I haven't been answering messages. As usual, I swear I'm getting to them! I'm not ignoring anyone, just give me time!

As far as new art posts go, I think I'm going to start putting up my older poetry from high school. I figure, if I don't have enough for a publishable collection by now, (which I don't,) it wasn't meant to happen. My creative writing teacher really liked some of it, so I hope they appeal to some folks here as well. ^^ (And that way, I have filler for this current art-lapse! Yay.)
So, that's what you can expect in the coming weeks...

On top of which, I had a small camerawhore moment and did some makeshift Newsies cosplay, but I'm gonna let you guys tell me if you actually wanna see it before I add it here. It's meant to be Jack Kelly, but I threw it together in 5 minutes, so... It's not, like, the level of detail my Halloween costumes have or anything.

Okay... I think that's about it. I shall soon go and try to cancel out my Emo-ness with some Peter Allen and Elton John CDs.
And maybe finish off with some Monkey Island (tm).
-
(edit: And ze icing on zhat cake... I tripped on a wet patch in the garage walking into Ma’s to post this... Knocked my left knee and my right ankle. God, I love my life. <img src="http://e.deviantart.com/emoticons/s/sarcasm.gif" width="15" height="15" alt=":sarcasm:" title="Hahahahaha. So far only one person has left an actual comment. Other than that one, I've been getting nothing but spam entries with Viagra and car insurance links. Literally, I've gotten an average of 20 spam ads every 24 hours. It'd be nice to read some genuine reviews.

I suppose the rest of today'll be answering the backed-up messageness again! o.o Better get started...

Oh, and if anyone cares...(rant/dump warning) I may just break down and move back to the house on my own. Screw that idiot who doesn't let me turn the air conditioning on when my small, poorly-ventilated room turns tropical. It may be 72 farenheit in his room, but we're having 90 degree weather, and it gets at least that hot in my room overnight.
Why not be somewhere I can not only sleep without roasting, but also be online when needed, and have my old room back? With all the stalling he's been doing, I don't know why I'm still waiting for dad to make the decision.

I'm gonna pose the idea to Ma today. Wish me luck, or send me bags of ice. 'Cause if it bombs, I'll need some way to keep cool.

I'm down in that place again. After a 3-hour road trip, I'm now sitting in my friend's stuffy house (the weather got warmer...damn.) with allergies to the pets that, last time I was down here, didn't give me any problems.
So, I've got a little bit of time on my friend's laptop, which I shall borrow as oft as possible while we're here, and as I write this, I'm waiting for the anti-allergy medication to kick in.
Happy happy, joy joy.

And all this thanks to the Annoying-and-Insane Relative Infestation taking place at home.
I'll tell ya all 'bout what I got, if you can handle movie spoilers!

First of all, I didn't get just movies. "The Very Best of Peter Allen" and Elton John's "Made in England" are now gracing my CD rack. And the pantry now features a bottle of red wine (er, did feature...) and many, many boxes of strawberry and green-tea Pocky.

Now, for movies!!

--Velvet Goldmine--
I watched this as soon as I got home Saturday night, around midnight, so I had to keep the volume low for the sleeping peeps nearby. Which is funny, 'cause the first words on the screen say something like, "Despite this being fiction, it should be turned up as loud as possible."

I'll have to watch it again (during the daytime) to catch more of the story, but I really likie teh music, and... it would seem Christian Bale has officially reached Secondary Bishie status! He was so adorable in VG, I'm almost inclined to forgive Borden... Almost. Breaking Angier's leg is still a no-no.

Hee. And then there was Ewan McGregor. Aww, lookit him waving his leedle-- *smacked upside the head with a guitar*

--Life on the Inside--
*HUGHGASM*
Not much plot, and the repetitive voiceovers were insanely annoying , but OMFG, Hugh's 'Kicked Puppy Factor' just skyrocketed.

Most Hugh fans, I'm pretty sure, only know this movie as Rat Tamer or Corelli. I hadn't found the region 1 (North-American playable) DVD until I looked up Rat Tamer on Amazon, and this release was linked to it. Originally a 1995 broadcast, it seems the US version wasn't released until 2006. O.o

For anyone wanting a quick summary, in case you're considering getting a copy yourself, I'll tell ya this much:
Don't buy it if you're looking for a good drama - it's okay, but can't hold against, say, The Prestige. However, if your purpose is to do some HJ perving, watch him be angstily helpless in the few scenes he's in (the whole feature's not that long by today's standards), and hear prison inmates constantly call him a "pretty boy", this is your movie.
And, I myself was nervous to watch b/c his wife plays a main character... luckily, they didn't kiss or anything, like I thought they would (I didn't know the plot prior to watching). That would've been really awkward for a fan of my nature.

Certainly nummy if you just fast-forward to Mr. Jackman's scenes. The thing is, though, I felt like a lot of the story was edited in a way it might not have been in its original releases. It just seemed too disjointed and hollow, and some old screencaps/promo pics I could swear I've seen don't fit anywhere.
The US edits half the original plot out of most anime. I'm afraid Life on the Inside may have suffered the same fate.
(Like, when new inmates are checked everywhere for weapons? It cuts off when the guard asks Hugh to turn around. Granted, they likely never shot more to that scene, though the imagination does fill in the rest... )

--X-Men 1.5--
This is really just X-Men (first movie, of course,) with a buttload of extras. 5 hours' worth, so it says on the cover! Not much movie to review, but I did promise someone bonus-feature spoilers! <img src="http://e.deviantart.com/emoticons/w/wink.gif" width="15" height="15" alt=";)" title=";...

Hopefully.

Last time we (my friend with the Mac laptop that drives my bonkers, and I) tried to get me drunk, it took 12 shots of almost straight liquor.

We just got back from the liquor store, where we called to consult someone she knows about what to buy for me. The person said, and i quote, "A bottle of this stuff'll fuck him up good. And if it doesn't, he's not human."

What went through my mind: "X-MEN!!!!" Bwa. Would abnormally high alcohol tolerance be considered mutancy?

SO, right now, I'm working my way through a bottle of whiskey (the brand recommended by my friend's father), and checking messages, and trying to log in to the AIM account I just created. And the AIM's not letting me log in on the Mac. *glare*

Oh, and the whiskey's mixed with ginger ale. I suppose it'll take longer to affect me, then.

Around 10, I think, we're going to a bar and for supper, but I'm a little worried I'm going to be completely schnockered. Because my family doesn't appreciate humor in art, and therefore I needed reassurance. There, ya happy? I said it!

3. What's the history of your username?
BabyWolverine came from two things; one, Wolvie is/was my role model, and I'm constantly having to hear how 'cute' and 'adorable' I look, so... voila. Baby Wolverine.
Second thing is, he's the first thing that came out when I started to draw X-Men chibis. Gnawed his way right through the damn pencil.

4. What's favourite kind of movies?
Mel Brooks. Enough said.

15. What's your all time fave movie?
Erg... Leaning toward The Fountain. Even though I still haven't been able to watch it a second time due to elevated angst levels.

16. Name some other fave movies?
Van Helsing; The LotR trilogy (theatrical AND extended!); Clue; Lord of the Beans; The Wedding Singer; Robin Hood: Men in Tights; Moulin Rouge; Newsies. And a bunch of others.

17.
WELL, so much for a vacation! Odd circumstances sort of led to it not being quite as such, but I did get to enjoy the snow a bit. Ever been pulled around on a sled, through a field, by a speedy tractor? Muahaha, fun. And my aim with snowballs while not wearing my glasses isn't as bad as I thought!

Which, by the way, the snow is to blame (okay, partially to blame) for my late getting-online-ness. We had a ginourmous blizzard come through, and it was so bad, we had a driving ban for nearly 24 hours. So, we left a little late.
If anyone finds I have not gotten back to you, dun get mad! I'm just starting to go through the messages left while I was away. The couple hours I had at the comp down there were anything but sufficient.

For the while since I've gotten back, I've been working on a couple of Easter gifts, so sewing and drawing were put on hold a teensy bit longer. I'm trying to multitask by brainstorming for the fics while I sew and such. (I know my Nintendo-loving brothers aren't able to get on and read this, so I can tell you all that the teenage one is getting a "Metroid: Corruption" t-shirt, and the little one is getting a handmade red Mario cap wrapped in a 'Yoshi Easter egg'. )

So, that covers my being back and future online-ness.

As to why the rum is gone... It was St. Patty's Day. An' Cap'n Jack Sparrah, aye, he did have a ball, he did! Unfortunately, he did have himself his ball all by his lonesome, for he had many a thing to do that day that could not see him doin' 'em drunk as he did them. So, the good cap'n had ta wait until all the ship was silent and the crew passed out, and had himself a party of sorts with his three tasty mojito friends, he did, aye. Drink up, me hearties, yo-ho!
(Yeah, I know, I need to clean the mirror... Gettin' to it...)

Afterward, his silliness led to a mild case of hat hair, but, luckily, he was too buzzed to care. (AKA, what I would look like if I could grow enough scruff!)

Then, for those of you who have seen The Fountain, my very Irish-like-green scarf gave me an idea. Probably a stupid and silly idea, but it was an idea nonetheless. Based on a promo pic for said movie, I took another spoofy picture, which resulted in the inevitable laughter.

For me last words, I would like to say that, while not being Irish, and still being very pale, I am, in fact, not sad that I am not descended of the Irish persuasion, if only for the reason that I can get a swell tan with minimal exposure to direct sunlight, as opposed to a real Irishman, who would, rather, burn within the first few minutes, simply because he's Irish. And doesn't drink rum.
Savvy?

Here's a description of the character:

Beak was a mutant whose bones were light and hollow. His arms had begun to grow feathers, which when fully formed, may have allowed him to fly. He could at the mean time glide and fly for short distances with great effort. Beak also had enhanced eyesight along with talons on his hands and feet. Even though Beak had bird-like qualities, it was extremely difficult for him to fly.

You can read more about Beak here!

He'll be joining Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), Liev Schreiber (Sabretooth), Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool), Taylor Kitsch (Gambit), William (Kestrel), Danny Huston (William Stryker) and Lynn Collins (Silver Fox) in the Gavin Hood-directed pic, opening May 1, 2009."

--
There you have it, quoted word-for-word.
Oh, how I hate sequels.

Well, more ranting on the way. In a nutshell...
Got my prints back after two days, and most of them didn't come out. Part of this was due to streaks from the drugstore's color photo printer, but all the pics I took Sunday and last May were either blurry, or over-exposed beyond the point of recognition.
Logged in today, and found out the Newsies RP I joined died, and the forum board was deleted. I've been informed some members started a new board, but my character, Jack Kelly, was taken before I could reclaim him.
That applied-to thing I mentioned just said that my application expired, but this is total bullshit. If that were true, it would've expired BEFORE they sent me running around for all that info they wanted. They're just being bitches, so I hafta straighten that all out tomorrow.
I may have to finally break down and get a job. I'm gonna try to go into Rabid Art-Finishing Mode, but in about a month, I may have a new reason to procrastinate.
The reason for getting this job, however, is a good one, if all goes well. You guys might hear more about said reason if it becomes set in stone!
My major concern is, school sorta flopped b/c of the way I tend to get treated by peers. I'm hoping I'll be able to ignore most of it now, but if I start to get kinda depressed-ish... Well, keep an eye peeled for new Emo poetry, and don't say I didn't warn ya.

On the upside, those of you who are waiting for stuff will be appeased soon, as my ultimate deadline is whenever I start work (about to apply to a few places, and we'll see how that goes!).
ALSO, in April, I might be getting internets!!! So, that should make up for a lot of the time I've been losing, art-wise, with all this travelling back and forth.

I know this was a bit of a cryptic post, but like I said, if this big thing - possibly to take place in the Autumn - goes through, I'll tell you all about it!
--
In the meantime, new posts!
Spazzy, I know you've been waiting forever and a lifetime for Frankie, but yesterday, I just erased a hole through my second attemt at lineart. It's really giving me hell, and I know it's just me obsessing over the quality. There, got that out. I'm starting it -again- ASAP, and I promise I'll use this version! No over-erasing!!! (Me ish so, so sorry...)
Sahkmet, I started that Meme. Got about 5 questions done, so that'll be up in the near future.
Ria! I figured out the shirt! Main problem was I didn't allow enough fabric around for it to open in the front. So, the buttons will be faux; the shirt won't actually open. It'll just be one piece in front. That okay, I hope? I can sew extra panels on, but I'm thinking it would look awkward.
--
Okay, done... Wow.
-
EDIT:
Apparently, that wasn't all. I'm not sending anyone any files via e-mail right now (sorry Shockwave!) because I just found a trojan horsie on the comp. Screw that... I am NOT sticking my flash drive in there with that thing, no way.

Nearly suffocate when dad tries to make steak in itty-bitty living space.

TUE - actually pretty decent. Good day for drawing. Start new Prestige fic that likely won't get done, especially with other fics needing to be finished first.

WED - find out something I'm applying for needs more information, a month after I've applied. Call source for said information. Call back applied-to thingy's people to give them wanted information, and sit around on hold for thirty minutes. Break down and spray apartment with cologne after dad tries to make steak again.

THU - get call from above-mentioned applied-to thing, saying that the information I gave them yesterday isn't sufficient, and they need a hard copy from another source. Plan to get hard copy for stinking applied-to bastards.

FRI - zone out and sleep a lot, due to sucky week.

SAT - accompany friend on road trip, and end up driving an extra hour through the middle of nowhere, thanks to the highway being under construction. Join friend in spazzing out at not knowing where the detour takes us. Spend evening getting covered in dog hair, and trying to avoid dog who is an old fart. Literally.

SUN - miss out on getting online. Instead, go to bitchy relative's place in order to help other, semi-bitchy relative finish school project. Nearly get frostbite helping with said project, but also get some really cool shots with camera.
O__o; Wow, would you believe I nearly died yesterday? No, it's true!

I was eating a very safe-looking sandwich, when suddenly a leaf of lettuce decided to dive off the plate. My first thought was the phrase, "I have lettuce bouncing on my keyboard!", as it did bounce - and let me tell you, the out-of-context absurdity nearly did me in.

I picked up said suicidal leaf and popped it in my mouth to end its misery, but as I swallowed, that was when the laughter finally came, and I nearly choked on the very vegetable I was laughing at.

Woulda died laughing if I hadn't already had a water bottle open. My gawd.
---
Okay, so prior to my brush with death, I was cleaning my room. A dreadfully long ordeal, considering I haven't lived in it for a few weeks, and so was simultaneously on spider patrol.

Thus, all art requests/promises were put on hold while I was in the trenches. But I've resumed working on them now! Updateses...
1st half of Lyanyne's trade still under construction
Spazzy's playdate with baby Frankie still being planned
Cookies for GabrielsAngel are still in the oven

All of that should be done SOON! ...ish.
In the meantime, I've posted more random crap to keep everyone occupied. Forgive meh?
---
Also, I've been slowly working on my other fanfics. (What is it now, 20?)

By show of hands, who would be interested if I posted a Newsies fic? I've got one chappie so far in a het mary-sue request. (OMG, het? Get it while it lasts!)

I'm also thinking of throwing another onto the pile; this time a Newsies/The Prestige crossover. Because it's just too perfect not to do. Would anyone read that?

** BIG SPOILER WARNINGS for Hairspray and The Fountain **

--
Hairspray:

My review here is pretty brief; I still really want Jimmy and Hugh to do the Brokeback musical, and I now have much, *much* added respect for John Travolta. He was able to keep the humor of the character up, but very believably. So awesome. I can’t imagine what that must have took, and I’m not just talkin’ dancing in pumps with a fatsuit on. That role must’ve taken a heck of a lotta courage.

Oh, and my sis and I agree that someone we know is Tracy Turnblad’s twin. If not Tracy Turnblad herself. It’s almost sad. But, I’m not mentioning any names, b/c that person *is* on DA.

--
The Fountain:

That.... was beautiful. T_T

I read somewhere that this was one of the projects Hugh was most proud of, and now I see why. It was so laden with metaphor and symbolism – not confusing in the least, but beautifully overwhelming.

I popped the disc in thinking it would be all “Ooh, lookit what we can do with our new digital imaging toys!”, but... Well, about 20 minutes in, I was crying already. Yes, I was. And the tears continued to flow from there well into the ending credits.

It really is futile to ask someone what the movie’s “about”, because it’s really more of a concept than a narrative storyline. But, I guess, if I had to sum up what I got out of it, it would be a contemplative illustration of how every experience is etched into the past, and in being recorded, gives our memories meaning. If that makes sense... History repeats itself to form the circle of life as we know it, as well as the larger cycles that together make up the march of time.
And, though what we do and feel may seem lost on the world when the bigger picture is taken into account, the big picture can't exist without all of those little threads weaving in and out; so, trying to live for a universal 'bigger picture' won't get one as far as trying to live live to the fullest. Each individual lifetime lives forever in that person’s soul, and is meant to be treasured. Maybe, in the next phase of life, it’s also meant to be learned from, but it is still kept so that it can be cherished as well.

There’s so much more to be said about and gleaned from this piece, but I’ll leave it at that meager bit. ^^
Oh, and I just remembered a fitting quote from Abraham Lincoln: "It's not the years in your life that matter; it's the life in your years."

... YES, I managed to laugh despite all this. Through the tears, I totally busted out laughing when Hugh approached the tree and took out the ring to put it on – Frodo, anyone? I seriously half-expected the environment to shift up, and there would be the big ol’ Eye of Sauron staring down at him. And he pulls the ring off, Viggo grabs him and hauls him up to his room, etc. etc...

Not to mention the numerous Ent and Tom Bombadil jokes that are possible there.

And OMG, the tree sap! That was hilarious. In an exaggerated way, but... couldn’t they have made it a more... erm, *earthy* color? Especially since he was pulling a bit of a “Merry and Pippin hog the Entdraught” thing there.
(“Merry, look at all this Entdraught! We’ll be the tallest Hobbits in the Shire!” ... “Ehm, Pip? I don’t think that’s Entdraught... Not the normal kind, anyway.” O_o)

Oh yeah, and. Um. Rachel Weisz is okay again. This time around - surprisingly – wasn’t all annoying damsel-in-distress mode, and thus she is now raised up a couple of the notches she lost on The Mummy Returns. As long as she keeps her paws off Hugh. (oo...

I started a Drabriel piece a couple months back, but wasn't sure where I wanted it to go. Our dear Sahkky was kind enough () to be my test-reader for the first page I'd written, but then I realized that if I made it too smutty, I'd need to yoink ideas from my other WIPs, as I had no new ones.

So, after much of my usual stalling, I giff yoo...

VAN HELSING!

Dedicated to any and all of ze vunderfully Drabriel-tolerant VH fans here on DA, but especially .
Without her, I don't think I would have gotten quite so hooked on this pairing.
---
And for all of you who've said, "OMG, you *have* to see The Fountain!", I finally bought it! Haven't watched yet. I'm dreading seeing Rachel Weisz on screen again. Like I said, after The Mummy Returns, she is...just...not...sexy anymore.
I would also like to take this opportunity, just in case I don't get to later, to wish every one a happy holiday/break/vacation! There. It is said, and I need not bother with it again.
