On March 29, 2008, the City of Toronto will join cities around the world in literally "turning out the lights" for Earth Hour, a World Wildlife Fund (WWF) event to raise awareness about climate change and symbolize that, working together the people of the world can make a difference in the fight against global warming. Officially announced in December 2007 at the United Nations Climate Change meeting, Earth Hour has grown from a single event in Sydney, Australia in 2007 to a global phenomenon that will occur across six continents and as many as 20 cities in 2008.

Toronto will be the flagship city in Canada to commemorate Earth Hour 2008. Our goal is to get thousands of businesses and individuals to participate in this historic event, so we can show the nation and the world that Toronto is a leader in addressing climate change, one of the most critical issues facing our world today.

Below is a quick just-for-fun freewrite that and I did today while on the bus heading for the CNE (Canadian National Exhibition). We each took turns writing a small portion of this, so if you wish to flame anyone, go flame him/ her. Please don't take anything mentioned in the below writing seriously. Thank-you and have a nice day!

"Female menopause is caused by an inflation of the local economy, which in turn makes the uteri grow to the size of a pineapple (as stated by Reader's Digest: How You Know When You're Almost Dead). Local menopause patient Sisi Yu" -me- "claims that her (or rather his) condition is assisting in his/ her goal for world domination. She/ he plans to corrupt the earth by maintaining an infertile uterus. She/ he is heading to the Ex for the last time as her condition grows impeccably with her/ his facial hair. Her/ his dying wish is to take a final look at the little boys frollicking at the amusement park to satisfy her/ his pedophiliac urges. To do this, he/ she will disguise her/ himself as I-Have-Candy-In-My-Pocket Man. Her/ his disguise consists of a pair of striped socks, a diamond tie, and a Vance Tran" -ineptly- "Outta-This-World facial mask, as well as a set of frilly undergarments to compliment her/ his manly chest hair, which coincidentally, has its own set of uteri attached to it. When asked if he/ she shaves, she/ he replied, "Only when I'm feeling dirty." And with that, Sisi Yu stepped out of the interview room and pulled our a razor from her man-purse and said, "Hallelujah, I'm a bum!"

THE END

Note: The information and testimonial provided in this article are entirely TRUE, by means of external force from one's uterus."

Here is my "Links and Resources" page (2 main sections: Art and Music/ Video): [link]

Kiriban at 3,333 pageviews.

Prize will be 1 AEGIS I.D. card (9cm x 6cm), 1 "Howl's Moving Castle" postcard (15cm x 10cm), and 3 Tokyopop preview pamphlets (35cm x 14cm each). I got the card and postcard at Anime North and the pamphlets from manga. Here is what they look like: [link] .
I was going to do a traditional art piece for the prize, but that seems kind of crappy for such a grand occasion. Prizes will be mailed to the winner.

A question for all who are reading this: Since when did it become "cool" to be rude and illiterate? Somehow I did not notice the slipping quality of my community (or rather, I ignored it, but it is increasingly discomforting). I see young children, who bully others, have their shameless actions being seen as "cool" by their victims, and so these victims obey them. What's more, these bullies go unpunished and their mistakes uncorrected. Is this noticeable in your area or is this just an isolated incident? (Sorry for the random questions; I just like discussing controversial issues.)

Also, I want to do some requests, so if you guys have any suggestions, please suggest!
Does anyone know how long it takes for mail from Canada to reach International Countries? I've searched the Canada Post website, but couldn't find it there.

My friends and I will be setting up a table at Nominoichi, Anime North 2007 (Artist Alley was full, including the waiting list ; _ ; ). We'll be selling a variety of things, such as bookmarks, stickers, magnets, stationery, and possibly prints and keychains, (along with with the usual pre-owned anime goods). If you'd like an item that we don't have, please list them in this journal and maybe we'll make them!

Anime North is an annual Anime Convention held in Toronto. Please visit [link] for more details.

I'll also be taking orders online. I'll only be accepting personal checks or cash at one's own risk (I don't trust PayPal). Please NOTE me or e-mail me at: mill-a-pede@hotmail.com if you're interested! Serious offers only!

Just finished reading Death Note! It's sooooooo goooooood (if not a bit sad), but a bit to smart for me. Couldn't understand half of what the smart people were saying... Anyway, here's my review!

Death Note, by Tsugumi Ohba, is (for lack of a better word) a very interesting manga. Not you're average shounen storyline, but not the least bit deficient in action. The story takes place in the year 2002 (?) in Japan. University student Yagami Light (original Japanese translation: Raito), finds a death note, accompanied by a shinigami, Ryuuku. From there, the series of (mis)adventures begins. The artwork is a gorgeous blend of realism with the animé style. The storyline deals with very serious and even dark matters and the plot is so tightly woven you could strangle a fly in it (not that you'd want to). No spoilers so go read the manga and find out for yourself why it's so goshdarn good.

BTW - Correct me if I'm wrong about anything (the date especially, which I got from adding and subtracting the years the characters say). This is the information that I got from the story (fan-translated, online available version, not the American published version).

...why gay marriage is "wrong"

1. Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.

2. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

3. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

4. Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

5. Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Britany Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.

6. Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children.

7. Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

8. Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.

9. Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

10. Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.

Re-post this if you believe love makes a marriage.

Omigod!!! This anime was soo good!!! It brought me to tears (which ain't that hard to do, but that's beside the point). Not only is the art (very unique) fabulous, but the storyline and the depth of the characters just blew me away. I highly reccomend this to all anime lovers (and even if you aren't one, go watch it anyways)! For better synopsis go to [link] or [link] <= yaoi info sight, so homophobes, beware (they have the best synopsis that I've read yet).
