Has anyone read Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad? If you haven't, then don't subject yourself to that agony. It's our set book to read now, and although the descriptions are quite beautiful, it's REALLY difficult to read. REALLY. I can't even read Eldest or Temeraire at the moment because all my concentration is spenmt trying to figure out this book!

Anyway.

OMG LOL when i logged onto dA this morning I nearly had a heart attack. I thought I'd accidentally bought myself a subscription, or someone had donated me one or something... I freaked! I kind of didn't like it either at first, because the login bar was at the top, and DDs were at the bottom ALL THE TIME. But then I went into my messages and nearly fell off my chair. I have to say, the new messages system ROCKS!!! headbang: I was kind of jealous of those with subs with previews of stuff, but now we have comment previews and picture previews and EVERYTHING!!!!!

Now that I've ranted on about that, I'll move on. I finally picked up my 6 year old copy of Eragon, still pristine without a dent in it and began reading it for the first time. All my friends rave about it, and the film was ace (Brom ftw!) but I think the book is better. I swear Christopher Paolini must have been some kind of child genius to write like that at 15. I wish Murtagh would hurry up and show up...

This time next week, I'll be in a pool in Spain sunning myself for two weeks, so don't worry about me if my profile page says I've been offline more than an hour. I'm so addicted to this darn site. :dalove:

He started playing piano when he was 6 (like me!)
He started playing the guitar when he was 14.
He is famous for his controversial (but genius) song lyrics and his falsetto.
He is also famous for his amazing range of pitch, and amazing guitar and piano playing abilities; despite this, he says he can only 'vaguely' read musical scores (lol).
Muse's live shows and live performances are noted for their high degrees of energy, accuracy and amusing dance displays courtesy of Mr Bellamy.
Matthew Bellamy is an aetheist.
He uses Manson guitars.
He can say the alphabet backwards as his party trick.
He is afraid of spiders (also like me!)

Not much has happened in two weeks. I got bored with 'A Room with a View' and sort of abandoned it. I got two new books, though: 'Skulduggery Pleasant 2: Playing with Fire' by Derek Landy, and 'Uglies' by Scott Westerfeld.

Skulduggery Pleasant is always a great read, but the writer doesn't half annoy me sometimes with his continual usage of the word 'and' in every sentence. However, its still one of my fave books. I can't wait til its becomes a film. But I want David Tennant as Skulduggery (as does ~Destiny8106teen), though I don't think it will happen...

Uglies is AMAZING. It's about a society where you have an operation when you're 16 to make you ' pretty'- symmetrical, proportional, beautiful. I just think, though, that if everyone is the same, how can you define them as beautiful? There's no variety. It's SO powerful, though. ~iisacheesecake recommended it to me. I now recommend it to you. Yes, you sitting in front of yonder computer screen.

OK. Moving swiftly on...

Mega Gerard Butler fan here. No joke. I just think, 'OMG its the Phantom!!!' and I have to see that film. I'm a little nervous about seeing him in Dracula 2000. I'd probably cry, thinking 'The Phantom is ripping people's throats out!!!'

How long Did it take you to read?
I devoured it once it was in my hands. A few days, though, because I like to savour books. Needless to say, I re-read several chapters (i.e. chapters 20,22, 23*squee*, and 26 *squee*…

How were you introduced to the books?
I was caught by the incredible cover of ‘Twilight’and the blurb whileperusing my ALL TIME FAVOURITE BOOK SHOP EVER Waterstones.

Did you buy it, borrow it of given it as a gift?
My mum got it for me one Christmas.

Looking forward most to: Breaking Dawn, Midnight Sun or the movie?
Breaking Dawn, of course. That said, I do want to see how its portrayed in the movie.

Dream Ending to the Series?
Ultimately, Bella ends up with Jake, marries him and has his little wolf-babies. Although we all know that’s never going to happen…
Ok then, Bella turns into a vampire and spends eternity with Eddie-poo. And Jacob imprints on a really nice girl totally worthy of him.

Favourite:

Character: Jacob. Totally and utterly. I know loads of people say that, but Jacob pwns all with his little jeans-tie and shaggy hair/fur.

Vampire: I’m tempted to say Carlisle (I imagine him like Richard Roxbrugh) but I must say Alice. She’s so cool.

Werewolf: Jacob, obv.

1. I absolutely love songs in a minor key. I don’t know why.
2. I frequently read more than one book at a time. I don’t mean that I have them side by side and read a line of one then one line of another. Well, that's two out of three topics covered in one paragraph. Now to exams- my favourite thing of course. I had a science module last week (which included questions about Blonde mammoths, obesity and started off on a cheery note about amputation).

Maths was on Monday (yesterday). I went in to the exam, confident that i could rearrange equations...I came out a broken woman. 'J=mv-mu'. Rearrange that to make 'v' the subject. I dare ya! Also today was depressing AS Statistics. We had to sit the exam in a hall full of older students that teased me when i walked past them on the way to the toilet. The exam was also REALLY hard. Question 2- what the heck was it on about. I may as well have done a Greek language theory test.

But then again it was the end of my exams! Now onto harder modules . Gisbo coming up also.

I know i haven't uploaded anything in a while but i really don't have the inspiration to draw stuff and i have 11 unfinished pieces of work to finish before they are half decent! My scanner's playing up anyway, so even if i finished them, you wouldn't see them.

I went to Soli House in Stratford-Upon-Avon on the 9th November and it was a wonderful experience. The team there (a big shout out to Tim, Adrian, David, Jenna, Janet and Ceri!) were amazing and so supportive and funny (esp. David). You'd think a relgious retreat would be boring and stuff but it seriously wasn't. We sang thanks to the tune of Ghostbusters and the A-Team and Queen- and we had free time all the time to go to the village etc. I found a quaint little shop called Chaucer's Book Shop just off the cathedral next to Mill Lane. It had a really old booky smell that I loved and got postcards for my mum and bookmarks. We all cried leaving it but i was glad to be home too.

Anyway, expect some drawings soon (and this time I mean it!) when i have time before Christmas. Everone please support 's Secret Santa project- it's a really good idea and will encourage friendship between members of the community who maybe never would know each other before.

Anyway, Happy Halloween everyone! I just uploaded some stuff today, late as per usual and managed to enter 1 halloween contest held by *ShoelessCosmonaut about my OCs, one of which i still have to name... Also, i've vamped up my profile,. as its my first halloween on DA by putting my phantom wallpaper up (gerard butler's red masquerade outfit=) and even changed my beloved ID. Just for you guys to enjoy
I was reeminiscing today about PotO (Phantom of the Opera to you mere mortals out there) and esoecially about the red outift mentioned above. Have you noticed the phantom (his name is Erik) wears all asymmetrical stuff whereas Raoul *grits teeth* wears all symmetrical stuff. I prefer the phantom's stylist thank you very much. That red outfit is SO halloween. So is the Past the Point of No Return ensemble. I might watch that today actually... *cough* *cough sounds unmistakabaly like Down with Raoul Phantom Rules*
Anyway, I'm dressing up tonight as an evil woman from Chicago, methinks. All i need to do is find an outfit... *ponders*. Oh well, it'll come to me. And then we're watching Shaun of The Dead. Cue me hiding behind sofa clutching a pillow.

Then in debate, hardly anyone was listening to us (namely me, and chloe). and was trying to shut ppl up which was v. funny.
Ugh. Maths. Thought I was going to have to go home but felt better when was concentrating on cumulative frequencies. Funny how a bit of maths makes you feel better. Quite ironic.

Finally Amie's on here- and Connor so our offline groups of friends is increasing online. Yay! More people to talk to!

Hmm. What to talk about next. Ah, yes. New drawings. With overload of new GCSE-related information to process, i have sort of given up doing accurate portraits and have stuck to HP doodles mostly. But now, i feel empowered to do portraits again (my inspiration? a tonne of heavy fashion magazines packed to bursting with pictures just crying otu to be drawn.) Stupid scanner isn't working and digicam's pics look sbwriel, so if i post anything, it'll probably be a story. And the one i'm working on now won't be done and dusted for another week

Oh, and sorry to my watchers for recieving a message box full of the deviations i uploaded today- i was @ my grandmas, and she has such a quickly uploading computer that every time i upoload a picture there, i almost cry with happiness, because the colours cme out right whereas at my home one, they come out brown and take half an hour to upoload. It takes half a second practically to upload at my grandmas house.

If you want to know what the title means, btw, then type it into google translator. I didn't get to sleep til 2.30 in the morning and had to wake up at 7.30. Ouch.

So here we are. What to talk about... Well, seing as its devart's 7th b-day, how about 2007...

Peter Kay's autobiography. Even if you don't know or care about him, buy it. It's got more lols than a lol and cheese lol bap.

Films this year:-

Harry Potter 5. Magical in every way. I was surprised at how much they managed to fit into 2 and ahalf hours. And it was all the good stuff. i can't think of any bits they left out, really. Mind u, the 5th book wa sso big you could literally get lost in it, let alone some plotlines. I highly recommend it to ANYONE. Im only tiffed that Harry's hair is atrocious. And that because of the 'accident' with the hair clippers during Dan's haircut, they made Neville's 'do look extra nerdy to make up for it. He had really nice hair in the third and fourth films, they just trying to make harry look prettyful. Sirius in this film was amazing. Gary Oldman is just so good. Must draw him in his prettyful clothes, too. Damn that Bellatrix.

Also, to my astonishment, saw some actual acting from Michael Gambon as Dumbles. When Harry's possessed by Voldy and has icy blue contacts in, and dan does some excellent acting, Gambon actually does seem to channel the wonderful Richard Harris and does rather damn well. In fact, he was quite alright in this film, well, compared to charging at startled dan in film 4 and pushing him roughly into medals while screaming at him 'DID YOU PUT YOUR NAME IN THE GOBLET OF FIRE?!' i WAS SCARED FOR HIM.

But I also absolutley adore Luna in this film. Evanna Lynch plays the part superbly, esp. after neville gets a death eater and she says calmly, 'well done neville. let's go.' -roflol- Luna's just great. Also, MASSIVE DH SPOILER! her and Dean? So random. Neville and Luna all the way *waves banner*

Sorry for rambling, I could rant on about Harry Potter for seventeen years!

Fantastic Four 2- Rise of the silver surfer. I...must...see...this...film...

Hairspray. This looks unbearably cheesy, although megz says she really enjoyed it.

Transformers. Looks action packed and all that. I'd rather catch it on TV when the dvd's out, althought it'll probs looks breathtaking on a big screen. I think its bit of a lie saying they can transofrm into ANYTHING. Yeah, anything that's a machine. A character in my book that im writing can transform into ANYTHING, people, mountains and machines. Beat that, marvel comics!

I went to see Lee Meade perform as Joseph in 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat' at the Adelphi Theatre in London and it was great! I got a t-shirt, a keyring, a programme and a piano book with the songs in them! Call me a fangirl, whatever.

If you're not familiar with the story of Joseph, its a bible story about a guy with 12 sons, one of them is Jo, who can interpret dreams, his fave, whom he gives a lovely colourful coat. The other brothers are jealous and tired of pompous Jo telling them that his dreams tell him they'll all bow down to him one day and throw him in a well, then sell him to slave traders. They make it out like Jo's been killed but really they just rubbed goat blood on his coat and showed their dad, who cries every time they say Jo's name throughout the rest of the play!
Meanwhile, Jp works as a slave (in really embarassing skirty loincloth combo with long socks) for Potiphar, a rich guy. Potiphar's wife has her eye on Jo and chases him round and round stripping him off just before Potiphar walks in a sends Jo to prison. He interprets 2 of his cell mates dreams (one is the butler who has a really cheesy british accent like Jeeves and was my fave) then is released when Pharaoh (portrayed like Elvis- cue all the cheesy Elvis jokes) has a dreams and Jo interprets it. He becomes v. powerful and his bros are caught in a famine (cue sad french song). They go to Egypt (where Jo is) to beg for food and Jo gives them food -btw, they dont recognise him; by now he has eyeliner and a silly headdress on. He frames Benjamin the youngest brother (my other favourite who was a dead ringer for Billy Elliot) then theres a calypso song begging to free him, they recognise him and all is well...

The show was amazing. The narrator was cool, and she had cloads of lines to learn, was in almost every scene and had really nice outfits. My faves were Gad (one of the bros- who looked liek a cross between a young John Cleese and Dominic Wood who hosted a british magic programme; the guy in this performance was also the butler.

I had an amazing time; but i missed all my friends and DA but the sights were amazing. Really breakthaking and we saw them all, believe me, we walked nonstop for three hours and i had high-ish heels on. *collapses in agony* I'm ok now, though i don't feel well *cough* So expect loads more pics cos im not going anywhere for a while...

BTW, isn't 'smack that' the MOST derogatory song in the whole world? 'Smack that til u get sore'- um, no thanks, mate. I'd rather read a book.

BTW, has any 1 heard of Taylor Swift? She rocks! Look her up, she writes all her own songs, plays guitar and has just made history- she's the youngest singer/songwriter to have their album go platinum, the album in questions being written or co-written entirely by them. I don't have a lot of homework-which is a good thing- but I have to do this science project where you have to keep the 'I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!' cast and crew fed and watered and looked after on a completely desolate island. Well, I'm in the mood for a challenge.

I started drawing Jared Leto yesterday and got his left eye nearly perfect but I'm almost scared to attempt the right eye in case he looks deformed. I suppose if art is perfect, it isn't art...

Also, I'm slightly annoyed because I scanned my first picture onto deviantART and it came up 90degrees rotated to what it should be. Then, when I tried to upload my picture of Adrien Brody, it came up upside down!
