Yay. Take that Bitterman!

Sunday was the 2008 City2Surf so I'm feeling a bit stiff and sore right now but god it's good fun. This year there was 70,000 people which made it a record. I managed to drag one of my (much much fitter) mates along this year too. To get into the city on time it meant an early start and waiting on the station when it's 2 degrees (no joke) in shorts, kinda get you motivated to get moving asap. This year I took some photos of crowd at the start line but I cant get them off the phone Anyways the race went really well, we went hard the first 4km's, eased it back in the middle and then caned the last 4km's. RT and I had a gentleman's agreement that we'd stick together until the 13km mark but in the last kilometre, it was on. LOL I tried, but he just disappeared off into the distance.

Last year I did it in 147mins.
This year I wanted to beat 120mins.
Unofficial time this year...111mins. Booyah 36mins quicker!! I'm pretty stoked about that. No injuries either.
Next year the goal is 90mins.

cheers
Enigma

Art to-do

Tassy's Halloween comp - 60% Inked.

One night recently, I woke up in the middle of the night, and couldn't get back to sleep. A great idea crept into my head, and it wouldn't immediately leave. The more I thought about it, the better it sounded. Namely that it was about time that I had a FAP. I've been in the fandom for 6 years now and have never had a FAP, so I grabbed all the required materials, and 20 minutes later I was quite satisfied with myself. It was a good session, and afterward I slept quite soundly.

So peeps I give you.....

ENIGMA'S EPIC FAN ARTZ PROJECT

Like I said, I've been in the fandom for 6ish years and have met an absolutely great group of peoples. There's also another group of people who I haven't met, but have influenced me through their art, comments, general existence etc. There's people who need to be thanked for the enjoyment they've added to my life for organising events, having a chat, making me laugh, making me cringe , everything. Furs who sacrifice a small portion of their enjoyment to the benefit of the community. I get annoyed because I can't put my thoughts into words here, I've been trying to say this for awhile. The furs who organise meets, run forums, host websites, draw artz, transport peeps, help out at events, or generally put something back instead of just constantly taking, earn major respect from me. So I've made a list and am drawing fan arts to show my appreciation to these people who, in varying ways, have made the fandom a better place.

Currently there are 52 names on the list, which will be done in randomerical order, with the peeps I've promised stuff for, up first ^^

Rare!

A very strange thing happened to me two weeks ago. I got home from work, sat down, and went 'Jesus fecking christ I need to draw'. But unlike other times, it hasn't left just as fast. After a three year absence THE MOJO"S BACK BABY YEAH! With the return of the urge, so has inspiration. Ideas have been pouring out of me faster than I can get them down on paper. For two weeks I've been sketching like back in '04, nothing good but plenty of it. Some of it will be polished up with a bit of luck. So year, artist block can go bite my arse!

Second major news, I've finally got my new car. It took 6 months but it's soooooo worth it, carpet is a luxury worth waiting for ^^. Stage 6 of my plans for world domination are complete, now onto stage 7 muahaha!

Stage 7 involves me getting back to my old fitness level. Hows it going!? Average. Recently I've done the Mothersday Classic (8km), Blacktown Fun Run (10km) and the MS Run (8km) all in reasonable time. In a couple of weeks is the Sutherland-to-surf (11km) and the city2surf (14km) which I should be training for. Unfortunately I haven't been properly. So it averages out.

Does anyone else have problems with FA? When it's actually up I mean. For some reason I can only see FA for about 5 mins before I get a time out error. Which will only clear if I re-boot my router. Which then lets it work for another 5 mins. I've never had this problem with any other website, just FA. The forum site works just fine, which means the only time I can get to the FA home page, is when it's down and redirecting to the forum. I can't see it when its up and I can't see it when its down. Starting to get annoying.

So what's everyone's opinion on V6? When I logged on this morning I was like "WTF have you done AGAIN!!! I'VE JUST GOTTEN USED TO V5" but it's grown on me. I didn't like the new frontpage (showing all the recent subs) mainly because I liked the old channels system, but I've found that again so its all good. Otherwise, I think it looks good, tho how good it works is yet to be seen.

I can't believe you people have read this far! Why, for god sake! Surely its TL;DR! Anyways at work the other day I'm standing in the middle of the production floor, doing something, when suddenly the gentle strains of 'Caramelldansen' come blaring out at full volume from the other side of the room. Here is my thought process.

"Is that Caramelldansen!?"
"It IS Caramelldansen, that is soo cool"
"Who has that for a ringtone?!"
"Wait, who would even know about Caramelldansen!?"
"Other than me!"
"Why has everyone stopped and are looking at me"
"OH SHI.......!!!!!!"

Alas my train of thought has no caboose so it took some time to realise that said music was coming from my office. A few days beforehand I'd had dinner with Phe, and she thought it would be cute to personalise my ring tones. Major respect lost at work, I won't be living that down for a little while yet.

Much lurve to ya'll

Enigma

Art counter:- running

Tassy's Halloween comp - 60% Inked. Sorry to ya'll for the complete lack of replies, comments and activity, the interwebs has been a bit too much for me to handle of late.

I haven’t been real good the last few months and I can't work out why. Most days I have no energy or motivation to do anything, chronic apathy. By the time I get home, I crash out on the lounge and watch a movie. These are mixed up with the occasional day of manic activity, where I'm practically bouncing off the walls. One good thing is that I've been sleeping normally now.

But today's one of the good days so I'm going to be making hay whilst the sun shines, so to speak.

In the last two weeks work has improved from 'hate' to 'dislike'. Sitting in my top draw is my letter of resignation and an application for a Canadian working visa. Unfortunately I lack the sufficient balls to hand them both in. My best mate has said iron balls, and is over there right now, touring around and living out of the back of a Dodge getaway van. We’ll see how my plans go in November before I make up my mind. I’ve been watching too much of Ewan McGreggor’s ‘Long Way Round’ and ‘Long Way Down’ and badly want to do something similar. I’ve been toying with the idea of hitch-hiking my way down to Midfur later this year, just to make it an interesting trip.

Training has been sporadic at best, with the weather being a convenient excuse. I’ve been maintaining but not doing enough sessions. The first event (8km) is in a couple of weeks (eep) so I’d better get back into it eh. I don’t think I’ll be doing the half marathon in October lol.

Art has been sporadic at best, with the weather being a convenient excuse. I’ve been prodding a few things along here and there, but not as much as I wanted. I’m going to have a solid crack at it this weekend.

My car has been <quote> delayed </quote>. Like I said before, it’s like waiting for Christmas.
New Years Day is a great time to sit down in a slightly (or seriously ) hungover state, and reflect on the year that has past, and plan for the upcoming year. I hate the term 'New Years Resolutions', mainly cause they're associated with wishy washy ideas like "Ahm gunna quit smokin", only to be back doing 50 fags a day around two months later. Resolutions are easy to make, and have little substance to back them up. If you break a NY resolution, well that give you a free pass, because you can just make another one next year. Choosing NY's as a starting point seems reasonably arbitrary to me too, if something has to change in your life, why not start now, rather than wait weeks or months to get the ball rolling. But, like the giant hypocrite I am, I still analyse where I went and where I'm going on NY day, just because it's the only day of the year where I know that I'm going to be free, and not feel like moving around much.

Last year for me was best described as 'beige'. There's been better years and there's been worse. But the most telling thing is that I didn't do much. Nothing much exciting at all. The abridged plan for last year was:-
Put more effort into work:- And that's exactly what I did, but I did it too much. Stress was the main result, promotion the secondary. Goal Achieved.
Improve my fitness and finish City2Surf:- Well I finished the race but as far as improving my fitness....I did but not by much. Pass mark.
Save money Yeah I did but not as much as I'd hoped. Pass mark.
Improve my artwork LOL big fat fail!
Meet new people and socialise Yeah didn't do too badly with this, both in RL and through the furs. Pass mark.
So yeah...not too bad but could be better.

This year the big plan is to chase the things that I want.
Less work, more me:- I'm not going to spend so much time at work and once I leave, I switch off. I'm not going to stress out any more. It ain't worth it
Get fit:- None of the pansy half arsed shit anymore, next year I'm doing the City2Surf in 100mins and attempting the Sydney half Marathon (FurJAM pending).
Buy a new car:- Lets face it, I need to stop throwing my money away.
Arts: Get back into it!! 1 finished pic in 12 months is f'ing woeful. I'm going to aim to get one a month finished. The other thing I've been thinking about is I have an opportunity to learn airbrushing, but I haven't decided yet, I'd like some opinions on it later, when I make a more detailed post about it.

Anyways, thats me all done, so tell me all you peeps out there in dA land, what are your big plans for this year and how are you going to achieve them?

cheers
This month has been so busy, that it's great to have a bit of a sit down and just veg out. ‘Spose I'd better do a random MiDFur Report first up.

WARNING - CONTENTS WILL BE LONG AND RAMBLING

Day 0 Thursday

After being a bit tight on time last year, I planned a bit better this time and left some room for error in getting to the airport. I ended up getting a perfect run into the city and got there two hours early (yay karma). Virgin Blue were having a shocker of a day, with most flights being delayed and a lot being cancelled. Including mine. So instead of going out on the 3:45, we were transferred onto the 6:45. One guy on the flight scored a seat for 5:45 but that got cancelled too, so god know what time he got out. So anyways, by the time we were let onto the plane (it was delayed...), I'd been stuck in the airport for almost 6 hours (There's not that much to do there either). I kept on thinking of those American reality TV shows at airports where the whiney fat meatsack passengers just bitch and yell at the ground staff like it's their fault. Givem a break, douchebag. Unfortunately by the time we got to Melbourne at 9, I'd missed catching up with some old friends for dinner, but they were still freak'n wicked enough to pick me up and drive me to Nomads hostel. The first night at the hostel was with some of the Brisfurs, a lot of which I hadn't met before. They were very friendly and it was a great fun night (and no your humour didn't offend me in the slightest lol) so a cheers to (insert gratuitous name dropping) Foxy Malone, Nikita-Wolfpaw, Flamedrake, Sarketch, Alternate Artisan, Miles, and Dash. We spent ages chatting so god knows what time we got to bed, tho it was too hot and creaky to sleep.

Day 1 Friday

We all headed down to the bar for food (but...pancakes) where we caught up with ze new arrivals Scota, RayLiehm, Byakko, and Jaffer, before heading out for a bit of a wander around the Melbourne CB
D. We managed decent old raids at the Teddy Bear Factory (they never have a thylacine plushie!), then again at Minotaur (total nerd pron), and finally McDonalds (crazy Satan man out of nowhere), before heading back to the digs. In the meantime an imperial fuckload of furs (what is a group of furs called?!) had shown up and were all mingling outside (too many to mention here), so we (almost) sorted out our accommodation before heading back out for more of a wander. For the next two nights I'd be crashing with a totally awesome group of furs, so to Scota, Ray, Kraden, Crazy, Vixen and Alex lion, much love to you guys for being such a good crowd to get to know. Kudos to Kraden for putting the effort in to organising the rooms and Ray for decorations to give it a bit o' Christmassy feel. Friday night is the big group dinner and this year it was at Sofias, where they were expecting about 100 furs to show up. Our group was a bit late getting there, so we were pretty much the last to get there. And all I can say about walking into that restaurant is O M F G ! The headcount varies from 110 to 127 (112
officially...I think), and there are no proper words to describe it. I spent the rest of the night trying to catch up with friends I hadn't seen for ages, taking photos, meeting new furs and just absorbing the atmosphere. And being completely gobsmacked by the fact that we'd more than doubled the attendance figures of last year (55 in '06). I want to look into this in more detail later on so I'll leave my thoughts there. I don't have much of an idea how the food was, I got one slice of pizza and the chocolate mousse. Shout outs go to Koneko, Scrapper, Byftpup, Kyle, AussieHuskey, AraKaraath, Atpaw, Robbie, Weasley, Lore, Spikeda, Firey, Barbary, Lupie, Maz and everyone else I've forgotten. After all the insanity we headed back to the hostel where it was a pretty quiet night, most people were pretty tired from travelling. Alex headed down to the bar in his lion suit to play pool and apparently got a bit of agro from a guy dressed as an elf. Elf Vs Lion...would have been one of the stranger reports in the paper if a fight had of broken out lol.

Day 2 Saturday

Yet another really hot night leads into a beautifully cold day with rain. Managed to get threeish hours of sleep which'll keep me going. I think all of us missed the breakfast meet. I headed off to Fed square to meet up with the group doing the 'Wine, Chocolate and Cheese' tour, which was also where the city tour was meeting. I think the weather ended up keeping the numbers down on the official Melbourne wander round, but still there was quite a few furs braving the weather.

The wine tour around the Yarra Valley was organised by...

This month has sucked which has been a proper downer but it'll all be good in three days time.

Much to the delight of my boss and to the amusement of my colegues, my car failed rego this year. Apparently the only person who is suprised by this is me. So there goes another couple of thou on a car who's value is determined by how much petrol is in it at the time. New car next year!

I haven't decided if I like my new job or not yet. I'm not good at dealing with people, and thats all its been so far. We've got 2 weeks of work to go out by lunchtime Wednesday too.

Hah, mid way through typing this we got caned by hailstones the size of golfballs. Managed to get my old man's car into the garage before it got damaged but my neighbor got a fair few dents. Two windows got broken around the back of my place but thats not too bad.

But in three days it's all gunna be sweet, I'm off to MiDFur again and then almost a month off work. F'ing YAY! I'm so looking forward to catching up with and meeting a whole bunch of aussie furs. I'm pumped. I'm hopefully gonna get to some art on my break too. So anyways, I'll prolly not get a chance to get back online before I leave (sooo many things to get done) so i'll catch some of ya'll in Melbourne!

cheers
Missed a couple of days of work which put me behind. The annual chest infection appeared too, but with the mighty drugs provided by Doctorb have it on the run now. The couple of days in bed have also fixed up my foot so there's no excuses now.
Since the City2Surf my motivation's been really high but a series of unfortunate excuses has stopped me from running. In the slack time I stumbled across a group of runners called 'FAT ASS', who have become my goal. These guys are hardcore!! They host events from 11 to +200km, most of them in the bush, with the creed "No Fees, No Awards, No Aid, No Wimps". Basically you show up, sign the waiver, do the event, and have a beer afterwards. Thats a lot more interesting to me than trying to take 10 seconds off your PB going round and round a track.

So anyways.....I've set myself the very lofty aim of doing the City2Surf next year in under 100mins and also having a crack at the half marathon. For a Fatass run in '09.

Motivation FTW.

Cheers
Well I've just got off an internet free week (stupid router!), so now I'm trying to catch up on messages and deviations from y'all. So many....
My foot still hasn't fixed itself yet. Last weekend I thought it was ok but it's gotten worse all this week. Saw a doctor about it yesterday, and her advice was to keep off it. But first off, the good stuff. Everyone who attended was fantastic. It was great to spend time and meet new people; I keep forgetting how friendly these people are and yeah...you guys rock!

Friday
Friday night started off at a Pub in Erskineville (Erko!) where we had a private room with pool table where I think I counted 25 people. Anyways the food was good and the company was better. I've gotta hand it to AussieHusky and Flay, they managed to organise a very disorganised group of people into a cohesive event, it went pretty smoothly. The night was excelent but finished pretty early so I headed back into the city to the hostel (my place is about an hours drive from the city). Didn't get any sleep ):

Saturday
Got up early and had a wander around the city but of course nothing was open. Had a very long breakfast, did some shopping, registered for the running festival then headed for the quay to meet up with everyone. We then headed into the botanical gardens where Aussie and a few others had nabbed a lawn for us. Vixen, Taubu, Alex and Drake(??) all suited up and we even had young girl (with mum) from north Queensland, dressed as a tiger (I think). Most of the day was spent hanging and talking and drawing and eating, and scaring kids and tourists and rangers and weddings. After the gardens we headed off to the Art museum (for a whole 15mins) before heading into Moore park for dinner and a movie. The pub was very crowded cause of the football, so a group of us headed off to do something else. When that something else turned out to be nothing, I ended back at the pub, where everyone else had decided to do something else. Too many else's. Anyways, some went to see 'Ratatouille' whilst we went to a pub in Newtown. Much fun was being had there (PACMAN! NOM nom nom!).Around this time, my foot (which I'd gashed open the prior Sunday) was starting to give me grief so I headed back to the hostel. Back in my room I found tha at some stage through the night, the wound had split open again and my sock was half soaked in blood. Didn't get any sleep again! (Fscking insomia!)

Sunday
Sunday was the 4km bridge run, which was something I'd been looking forward to for weeks. I tried patching my foot back together with bandaids but that was useless. Checked out of the hotel and then walked back to my car to dump off my gear before heading into the quay for Taronga zoo. Only 2 people showed for that so I headed back to Newtown for the city tour. First stop was the 'feastability' food festival. The food was nice and everything but after about an hour I suffered a mental meltdown and had to head off home. Which sucked!

Now for the bad stuff <rant>
Sundays events were livewithable and I'm over it. However for the second time in a row, my complete lack of any form of social skills has marred my enjoyment of FurJAM. All weekend I was too shy to go up and talk to people who I hadn't spoken to before. The only people I managed to talk to were those I know, or those who came up to talk to me. The fact that I become this retard with no connection between brain and mouth when faced with a goup of people makes me so red hot angry. This weekend was an appifiny for me, I will not let that happen to me again. I've decided that I have to actually start interacting with people, and stop being this creepy antisocial lurker who just appears at events.
......
</rant>

check out the event photo's taken with my smexy new camera <3 They're in randomerical order [link]

Every year our company runs little employee challenges, usually 'who can grow the largest X'. Last year some of the engineers (geeks) got together and decided to do something more technical. Initially it was to build a toy car powered by a capacitor (actually it started when I suggested we go go-karting at eastern creek, somehow that point got lost). Over the next couple of weeks, the rules changed (Ze big boss got involved at some stage) until we were building electric cars that had to be driven around a circuit for ten minutes. We were given 2 small batteries and a budget of $150. After the initial enthusiasm waned, I ended up throwing this together just before the race was held. Its first test run went well, the second.....didn't. I popped a weld going round a corner at full speed, which caused the darn thing to flip sedning me sprawling on the 'crete infront of half the company. Ah twas all in good fun tho, I won two awards lol

In other new, last week I had holidays yay. Didn't do anything but it was good to have time off, and managed to sketch up a couple of things including this for a mates birthday.

Finally, the football season's over but we made the finals for the first time in 18 years, which was.........f'ing brilliant. We got knocked out first week but at least now I've been to a finals match and know the excitement. I took my old man as well, which was the first final he's been to since the '71 grand final, which was pretty special too. In celebration here's a really bad pic I drew in '04 which will have to do until I can get around to drawing something a bit better
Well the City2Surf was run and won, and what a blast it was. I have never seen so many people in one place. Official figures had almost 65000 starters. Once our start gun went off, it took 5 minutes to get to the start line (I was about 1/4 of the way into the 'Back of the Pack' ) and by the time the winner crossed the finish line 14Km away, people were still starting. The amazing thing about it was the whole way was like being in a football crowd, at no point was there any sort of clear space around you to get into a proper rhythm. I wish I hadn't left my camera in the car.
I ran with the faster runners for 1km then got realistic and slowed down to a pace more suited to someone who hadn't trained and still had 13km to go. The first raw skinned toe appeared around a click later (quick stop to fix that) where I learnt that
that I'd really worn the wrong socks. It was pretty easy going from there until Heartbreak Hill' (6km point, 2km uphill section), where I lost the skin off the back of both ankles. That was bloody painful but with a quick ' put a patch on it laddie' I was off again. Heartbreak Hill wasn't as bad as everyone had told me, it wasn't too steep just loooong. Everything after that was ok, I'd slowed down quite a bit with the ankles but they didn't give me too much grief until around the 11km mark. Once you start heading down towards the beach you get this fantastic sea breeze which is a big lift. From then it was pretty painful, but I still managed to "run" the last km and across the finish line. My time was 147 minutes (around 35600th lol) which I'm not unhappy with, but getting my original goal of a sub 120 would have been easy with a bit more preparation.
Next year the aim is to be in the top half of the field (around 114 minutes).

Monday
Well Mondays meeting started off pretty much as planned, I got my arse chewed out on how late the project was and how I'd handled a few things. My boss basically said that I needed to learn how to delegate and to "direct traffic not get caught up in it". And then I got offered a promotion.........
.
.
.
.
............OMGWTF!!
They hadn’t told me beforehand cause they had to clear it with ze evil Germans. The look on my face must have been priceless ‘cause it cracked the boss up. So as of the second week of September, I’ll be running the production department. Which scares the shit out of me!!!

"Things have begun to quieten down a bit here, which is a relief. I've started working normalish hours again which is better but still feeling exhausted most of the time. 'sall good tho."

Seriously WTF was I thinking. Its not all good. One of the projects I've been working on all year was finaly finished today, 2 weeks overdue. The big boss wanted it all over by the time he got back and my boss has been cracking the wip at me for weeks. So far I've managed to avoid big boss but now I've got a meeting with them on monday to "discuss the outcomes of the redesign and my role in production". Fuckn hell, I'm so over it. I've done 200 hours in the last 21 days; theres nothing more I can do. Somehow I've pissed off the two main people in the department, and theres lots of closed door meetings going on. That usually means a move for someone. I've just locked myself in the lab this week, avoiding everyone. The shits hit the fan in sales, so I get the feeling thats where I'm headed. No-ones telling me anything. Sales will be the death of me, I cant deal with customers. And they know that too.......

The City2Surf is on this Sunday, wish me luck. All my friends have piked on me this year so I'm going it alone. Hopefully I'll be as sore as hell and call in sick on Monday. Training has been restarted in the hope of having a proper crack at the 10km Bridge Run in September.......which won't be happening now 'cause it's on the Sunday of FurJAM of course!...... Meh, well running can be done at any time, FurJAM only comes around whenever someone can be bothered organising it. I may do the 3km run instead, it would finish before any of Sundays events. After a day wandering around the city and two nights on the piss, a real good prep. *Sigh* we'll see how it all goes sunshine. I think I'll have to get accomidation in the city too, driving in for a one day event is onething, but to do it for three days will be too much.

Things have begun to quieten down a bit here, which is a relief. I've started working normalish hours again which is better but still feeling exhausted most of the time. 'sall good tho.

A few weekends ago there was a devmeet in Sydney , to which my best mate dragged me along to. Well not really dragged...he talked me into it; with FORCE!. It was a really good day even though I went incognito and everyone was a photographer. We met at Central Station before wandering down to Paddy's Markets for a bit of shopping (Nothing was bought this time, carrying heavy bookends around for the rest of the day is not fun, lesson learnt). Spoke alot to an astrophotographer who was very interesting to talk techniques with and very talented. Tops bloke too. The we all headed of to Darling Harbour, where the more enthused people went throught the Chinese Gardens whilst the rest of us tried to scrounge up some grub. Everyone sat around, talking cameras, and eating REALLY bad japanese. Among them was an EEIT (Electrical Engineer In Training...come on people, keep up with the ETLA's), so we got chatting shop which was much more interesting (to us anyway, you could see the sphere of boredom surrounding us, infecting all others). Everyone met back up before heading towards Hyde park where more 'hanging' was done. Then it was on to the botanic gardens (more hanging) then onto the Opera House ("Oh you like to hang too". "Well it beats doing stuff") where we said our goodbyes and runnoft. Did manage to meet a lot of interesting people so it was a good fun day out. If you're ever thinking of meeting people from dA, do it, it's well worth it.

So... the running season starts soon with the City2Surf happening in about a months time. And I've committed to it; I am the pig in the bacon and egg sandwich. Which should be really interesting seeing as, against my best intentions, I haven't trained in 7 months. My hardcore plan was thrown in the bin after a solid month of rain (during a drought!) and then once that cleared, getting the flu. I'm still coughing up a lung but if I don't get stuck in now I won't make the distance. I was hoping for around the 120 mins mark but if now I'll be happy with a 150 (or finishing).

Artwise has been stuck in a bit of a rut for...oh I don't know... 2 years or so. So after getting some advice from a friend, I've decided to commit to doing one hour a night, and keep a log of days I miss so I can catch up later. So yeah...here we go

Cheers

So now I have to write 10 things that begin with T.

1: Technology – I’m a nerd and damned proud of it. I admit I get all excited by new techno gadgets, nothing wrong with that.
2: Third Wave – Ska music. Fast, bright and fun. During the mid/late ninety’s all I listened to was The Porkers, Area 7, Mighty Mighty Bostones, Reel Big Fish, Hepcat, Voodoo Glow Skulls etc. I’ve been getting into the 2 tone era lately but I don’t like the snobbishness over it.
3: T-shirts - damned comfortable, fashion can go and get stuffed. Much better than those pesky F-shirts.
4: Try – If you’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t, do it. It’s better than spending the rest of your life wondering. ‘Avagoyamug.
5: Turbo – 100% displacement replacement.
6: Thylacine – My fursona and Australia’s greatest mistake. Australian animals have always fascinated me, particularly these guys, I still like to think there’s a small colony of them out there, hidden in some dark corner of Tasmania’s wilderness. Bring on cloning I say.
7: Time – *Sighs* never enough of it
8: Trance/Techno – Once again, fast, bright and bassy. I haven’t got a clue about the genre but I know what I like and what I don’t
9: Talking – I’m very shy around people I don’t know and find it very difficult to talk to them. I’ll generally sit back and listen to the goings on (I like to watch!!! muahahah!). If I am comfortable you won’t shut me up.
10: Ten – A very convenient base for a numeric system, the number of fingers and toes I have and funnily enough, the last number on the list. No-one will notice that I cheated there

T was harder than I thought

Anyways, there's my 10. To be tagged just ask for your letter in a comment, and then repeat this in your own journal!
----------------------------------------------
By the way guys, thanks for the 1000 hits too, that snuck up on me in the last 3 months.

Cheers

Sweet! Sorry I haven't been around, stuff has been at full speed this year. This is the first chance in months I've had to look at dA. I'm gunna get to all those deviations, messages and notes, I swear....hopefully. Also Tiberium Wars came out so....

Work has been insanely busy, but god I do still love it that way. After 2 years of work we've finally got the needed international approvals and now have launched into Europe, with the US launching in a couple of weeks. Up until now we've been selling about 500 units a month in Australia and China but since the launch we moved 500 units in 8 days.
(Oh yeah if you're interested, I work fo the moderately neutral Australian arm of an evil German manufacturing company. We make electronics that go into big industrial machinery. Nothing really interesting but maybe my work rant will make a bit more sense now). It's been a blast but it also means +50 hour weeks, which have been wearing me down a bit. Feeling really bouncy today tho.

FurJAM is back on again this year after a 2 year hiatus, w00t. AND even better its over 2 or 3 days instead of one. Dates aren’t set yet but some time in September. I'm planning on taking holidays for the week before so I can sit down for a solid session and get some art done beforehand.

I had to get a hair cut today. Of all the things I have to do, I hate getting my hair cut the most. Apart from the hassle of having to go out to get it done, whilst they do it I sit there in the chair, unconsciously tensing up all my muscles until I lose all feeling in my arms. I don't know why. I'm sure that's completely normal.

I'm trying to give up coke. I'm not trying very hard. Mmmm cafine, mmm sugar!

With the City2Surf coming up in August, I've re-started my training regime (well....not really a regime) after 6 months off. And its like starting again. And it's cold in the mornings. And what seems like a good idea at night, is pox at 6am. So yeah....going real well!

My car is fixed. In the same way as you fix your dog!

'bout it really
All my stuff has decided to give up the ghost and die on me. Since chistmas I've broken my car, computer, wacom, finger, running shoes, electric trike, and my bank balance.

The car was very expensive and takes the repair bill total up to $6k for a car that cost me $1K5. This time it was a head gasket and a wheel bearing, but to date I've replaced the radiator, whole engine, gearbox, 2 diffs, 2 rear axels, another wheel bearing, master brake cylinder, all the break lines, and two suspension arms. Some of those repairs (plus some body work) was after I MISSED a wombat (but got a tree branch ) and a wheel has almost come off whilst going around a corner. I am absolutely exhausted but it was sooooo good to get out of Sydney for a bit and get all relaxed. Met a lot of great furs too and am fully inspired to get back into drawing. So anyways, here is a bit of a report..... Warning, may get random and rambling long!

MiDFur 2006

Thursday - Day 0

MiDFur usually starts on the Friday night with a big dinner, but I'd decided to head on down on the Thursday night so to have a full day just exploring Melbourne. So I left work early and headed off to a mates place to park my car and bludge a lift off him to the train station. Which is where my lack of planning started to bear fruit. He wasn't there, so I called a cab and had to hike up to the main road to catch it to the station. An hour and 10 mins later, after 3 calls to the cab company and many calls to various mates for help (all of whom weren’t in the area at the time, bastards!), my cab shows up. By now time is really getting tight, and I have to catch the cab direct to the airport, which was going against my plans for a cheap holiday, oh well. Got there and through all the usual hubbub just as the final boarding call was happening. I don't know what I was worried about, I made it with plenty of time . Landed in Melbourne at Avalon airport, which turns out to be a tin shed in the middle of nowhere, so the bus trip to the city takes way way WAY longer than I'd thought, meaning I miss my check in at the hostel (It's now midnight). After 30mins of calls and waiting around, this very tired looking, asian uni student comes down to let me in, AND HE'S WEARING GIANT FLUFFY BUNNY SLIPPERS. He keeps asking me questions and all I can think about is how out of place these giant fluffy bunny slippers are! Anyways I got my room and all was well. 5Km's covered

Friday - Day 1

Friday morning arrived with me being moved to a different room as apparently the one I'd been put into was one of the "expensive" rooms. No problem at all but I couldn't tell the difference, lol. The plan for the day was to get all my Christmas shopping out of the way and recce Federation Square for the next mornings meet. Spent the whole day wandering the street of Melbourne, buying gifts for friends and family (and MEEEEEEEE too!). Spent way too much money, but that what holidays are for (at least that’s how I justified it, $300 in Borders book store oy!). Around mid afternoon I headed back to the hostel (Elizabeth Hostel BTW, not too bad a place, would stay there again), crashed out for awhile, then got changed and headed for the restaurant on Brunswick st. I'd sat down previously and planned how I was going to get there, but I got lost trying to find the first tram I was supposed to catch, so I just started walking towards Brunswick and catch the tram from there. Once I got there, I couldn't work out how to catch a tram (big net!), but seeing as I had plenty of time, I walked all the way to the restaurant. On the way I found Area 7's single "Road Rage" in a second hand store, something I'd been wanting for ages. Outside the restaurant I ran into Scrapper, Goldfur and Mike unloading T-Shirts (one of which I bought) before heading on in where people were already waiting. As more people started showing up I talked to JM and Bastet Cheetah who were both from Perth, who are both really tops people. Oh and Byfpup too. Anyways, dinner was good, and we all just sat around talking, catching up and stuff. I talked to several people and caught back up with others who I'd met at FurJAM. It's a bit difficult tho cause I'm not online like everyone else. Everyone sort of knew each other. I discovered a good way of remembering peoples names, I wrote vague descriptions of them on a scrap of paper, I don't think it went down well with them tho. Once everything was over (and no-one was kicking on) I headed back towards Melbourne cause I was to lazy to wait for a tram. Halfway I gave up and sat waiting for it and was joined by Rob Wolven and Weasley and several other furs. On memory that will remain with me for a long time was watching Atpaw riding his motorbike up Brunswick street one handed, as he tried to keep his tail out of the back wheel with the other. Feeling energetic (i.e. sugared up) I ran from where I got off the tram (Initially in the wrong direction ) all the way back to the hostel. One thing I've noticed with Aussie furmeets, you need fitness. 25km's on day one.

Saturday - Day 2
This is the first chance I've had to update because this week has been so busy. I managed to meet a great bunch of people and be socialable for once, so yeah. Unfortunatlly i haven't written a report about it cause I was taking too long to type it out so go to for a report and [link] for photo's. I'll get my thoughts on the whole thing up in the new year. It's got me motivated to start drawing again.

Apart from that, as of yesterday, everything has turned to sh*t. Jacky came back to Australia for a quick visit and its brought back things that I'd finally managed to bury. My head is all over the place, so I'm heading home for a week to clear it.

Anyways, enough personal rubbish.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone
It should be fun anyways, catching up with some of the people I met at FURJAM 1 and 2 last year. Its a shame none got organised for this year. I'm also heading down to MIDfur in Melbourne, which goes for 3ish days. That is, as soon as I get off my arse and book plane tickets and accommodation. Luckily those industries don't get too busy around christmas.....
I should have some photos from the meet up next week.... Not sure where to put them yet.

The last 6 months or so I've been suffering from insomnia, getting between 0 and 6 hours sleep a night. Which was pretty funny, cause I've also been handeling all of the recalls at work, which has me convinced that I'm turning into Jack from 'Fight Club'. However recently I've found my own form of 'support group' and for the first time in 7 years I'm back into training. The two aims are the '07 Sydney Half-Marathon and the other, a hike from Katoomba-Mittagong (~120Km). I haven't felt this bouncy for years and am almost getting normal sleep again. I still get nights with no sleep but its down now to about once a week, which I can handle.
Feeling absolutely fantastic!!!!!!!

Last week I lost all my bookmarks. Stupid new Firefox! Anyways, you dont realise how much you rely on them until you lose them. There was around 100 dA artists who I was secretly stalking who have all been lost now. Which sucks!

That'll do pig, that'll do!

Cheers

Wow it's been over a year since I updated. That's um... a poor effort. Anyways I've finally got my own place which is something off the to do list. Free time has been regained, 15 mins of travelling to and from work instead on 2+ hours a day. No more weekend jobs either. Plenty of time to do stuff, now I've just got to back into it.

Feeling rusty. Haven't drawn in almost a year. It's like starting all over again. Fragment (consider revising).

I finally graduated uni. That sort of happened when work said "Oh yeah, we need a copy of your certificate". I'd kinda forgotten about that after I started.

Thanks to everyone for keeping me entertained. Although I haven't been commenting on stuff (I try but I can't) I've been watching you all and yeah... Thanks for all the wonderful stuff you've been posting.

Ph33r my poor grammar and vocabulary.

Cheers

I've really got nothing much to say, but I'm sick of seeing the old post so here goes...

I've started my new job, which is going well, celebrated Easter Thursday and a birthday in there somewhere, did some uni rubbish, fixed my car, just all the usual living stuff really.

That'll do.

So see ya's later

G'day

Well everythings changing around me ATM. TLA wah!!!!. TLA's rule the world if you havn't noticed.....
Anyways, I can't seem to get my sh!t together. I quit my new gimp job last week, went back to my old job this week, and I may have an internship starting in the next few weeks. I've gone from being on all fours, to standing, to back on my knees in a month. Maybe. Depends if theres any dress washing or cigar action in the new job.

I got dragged to 'Constantine' this week. 'Dragged' because I don't like Keanu, who couldn't act his way out of a paper bag. How is it possible for a movie to not meet expectations when you have none to start with! Their portrayal of hell was a bit off IMHO. It should have been footage of us sitting in the cinema watching Constantine.

One last thing I should warn everyone about, who has gotten this far through my rant. I am not good at putting well thought out messages together. I can rant, like this, but even simple comments are very difficult for me to write. This is why I don't RP, ICQ, etc. However I am trying to improve which is why I've joined here. Please be patient.

Cheers
