I just had the biggest case of the jitters ever and I needed out, especially since I was trying to study Japanese! I have a test tomorrow.

My GF let me study at her work place, and I ate actual Chinese food for the first time EVER. Shrimp, broccoli, and White Rice!

The broccoli was tolerable, though I wish the sauce was optional, cuz they dumped a truckload of sauce into my little tiny box of food.

Seriously though, there were WAY more broccoli then there was shrimp, although they both tasted the same due to the excess of sauce, the only difference being texture, in which the shrimp wins, as Broccoli has crappy texture IMO. But on the menu it says, and I quote "Shrimp with Broccoli." Shrimp WITH broccoli, not broccoli with shrimp. That and I had to keep drinking Snapple after each bite due to my crazy sensory issues not liking the texture of the broccoli.

OH!!! They mixed carrots in there too, which I was pleasently surprised with. I kind of like carrots.

So yeah, apparently they thought I was adorable the way I ate. Skye said I looked like I was fascinated with the food or something, especially when I got to the carrots.

Then I had white rice... how do I explain this...

You know how if you chew bubble gum for a while and the flavor goes away and what you're left with is the gum itself with that bland flavor?

Yeah, that's white rice. The texture was okay till it got cold. in fact I should probably go put that in teh freezer since it's still in my bag, lol.

Yeah, chinese food is filling too. Weird.

Trust me, it only gets creepier in season 2.

I watched both the Dub and the Sub version. I notice Brad Swaile really REALLY lowered his voice and tried hard to match the pitch of Miyano's performance. A lot of the actors did that with their japanese counterparts, although some were just badly casted. (Allelujiah's supposed to sound like a little boy, almost)




Now, for season 2.


I noticed that they broke away from a lot of the gundam traditions in season 1, changing the design of the gundam faces and just a big overhaul of the standard gundam script.

In season 2, they jumped right back into familiar territory, not only returning to the normal gundam style, but bringing back THE ORIGINAL gundam at some points. There's a guy with a mask and he's crazy, but sadly no relatives on the good guy side.

They FINALLY FIIIIIINALLLLY Stopped zooming in on Kujou's tits every other frame, which is good. Sometimes it's just too much with the huge cantalopes, u know?

They still have an Irish gundam pilot, which I love, AND HIS GUNDAM IS GREEN! YES!!!

And 00 Gundam is top tier. It has a gigantic lazer cannon that doubles as a gigantic lazer beam sword that could probably cut the moon in half if he deemed it necessary.

The main villian has a funny name. heh... Ribbons... lol

Lots of cool people die, and lots of "NO DON"T TELL ME THEY DIED" moments.

Can't wait for the Gundam 00 movie in 2010.

The art style is similar to that of Gundam Seed and Seed Destiny, but the storytelling seems much different. There's a lot less crying, and I mean a LOOOOOT less crying, but the thing is, there's a LOT more reasons to cry in some scenes than there ever were in Seed.

I actually like Setsuna's background as a middle eastern child captured and trained by muslim extremist terrorists/bounty hunters. Though not a lot has been explained about most of the gundam pilots in the first season so far, we know that Setsuna is middle eastern, Lockon is Irish, Tierria has purple hair, and Allelujiah/Hallelujia is schizophrenic. And the guy who planned EVERYTHING was a jew from 200 years ago, Aeolia Shenberg.


Another thing I like is how they reenact old wars from the past, like the Northern Ireland Conflict.

So far my favorite scene is when Setsuna punches a loli in the face after she tried to make out with him. "I DON"T LIKE TO BE TOUCHED!!!!!" *Punch*


I'm going to watch episode 19 now, because 18 leaves us at a FUCKING awesome cliff hanger where it seems Setsuna is going to take on the new badguys single handedly!



Also, once again, Miyano Mamoru and Brad Swaile are voicing the main character of YET ANOTHER ANIME!! These guys should totally meet. That would be cool!

Propability and Statistics is harder than I thought it'd be and they made us take notes way early, but King Turner is in that class, so I can't switch out of that.

American government is too interesting to switch and isn't available on other time slots

Journalism is in a pretty safe time slot

It's the class before Japanese III that really kills me, The Middle Ages. That's gonna SUCK only having an hour of study time for Japanese, since I usually need MUCH more than that.

So I'll probably switch that time slot. Sadly, that means I'll have to have another teacher, which sucks because I like the teacher I have now. Ah well, it has to be done in order to keep my sanity intact.

In other news, I was listening to a bunch of the alternate language dubs of Death Note (IE French, German, Korean) and the Italian version of the Kira laugh struck my ears positively at first, but then... well... just listen for yourself.

He starts out really great, almost sounding like Miyano a little, but then the dub team decided to splice the audio, making it UBER fucking unnatural, which sucks, because that could've potentially been up there with the English and Japanese versions.

Here's where I stand at this point

First place: tie between Miyano And Swaile (I can't compare the laughs because they're SOO different from each other. Miyano's was the first and original Kira laugh. He did not break into absolute hysterical laughter until the zoom in on Kira's face, and, IMO the cackles sounded REALLY demented and scary, almost as if they used a voice changer, but you can kinda tell that they didn't.

The english version, Brad muthafuckin Swaile's performance, was the second, and he used Miyano's performance as a reference, but took a different route. Now I was expecting something interesting because, to put it simply, the man has a rep for doing strange things with his throat and vocal chords. But this was so different. Really wide, and almost impossible to mimic. For one thing, he broke out in hysterical laughter earlier than Miyano, laughing as soon as Kira flipped his head up, and sustained the hysterical laugh much longer than Miyano, and also altered the pitches of his laughs randomly, making a pretty scary laugh, HOWEVER, it did have one big flaw. Brad Swaile simply isn't much of a villian actor. He really can't scare you, although god bless him for trying. He's more of a good guy role, even though he says his first role was a villian. Sorry Brad, the bad horse from the "My little pony" movie does not count as a real villian.

Even though his performance wasn't as bone chilling as Miyano, I still have to give him props just for shear effort in going for originality, where most actors go for (And are directed thus) to mimic the japanese actor as much as humanly possible. He went above and beyond; the classic story of Genius VS the working man. I can't give the first place to either of them individually without feeling some kind of lament or guilt, so fuck it, they tie.)


The rest of the guys attempt to mimic Miyano for the most part. yeah... let's see how it worked out for them.



Second place: Italian (great performance but killed by the audio splice)

Third place: German (pretty good, but gets accented at the end, which breaks authenticity. Also, had the same problem Brad Swaile had in that he just wasn't intimidating enough.)

Fourth place: Spanish (the actor took a very safe route when he did the laugh, so there weren't any annoying mistakes, but that's also the problem. He wasn't extraordinary)

Fifth Place: French (Seszhwui Kiuuuuaaa... umm... no. no you aren't. Seriously, he did not sound like Kira. Just sounded too culturally obvious, but it was a fairly solid performance and it did sound like a crazy person.)

Suck place: Korean (Seriously, these guys should have been second place. I've heard good Korean dubs of Japanese Anime before (Hare Nochi Guu) and yet this was SO below par.)

Someone told me actors hate watching their own work, and honestly, I'm beginning to see why. Despite Salvatore's enthusiasm, I still feel I could've done better. Still, though, I'm gonna stomach that feeling, as it'll only help better my skills. If I can get over the fear of listening to myself act, I can figure out what I did wrong and correct it. Then again, taking an actual class or two wouldn't hurt either, lolz!

Be warned, episode 1 was pretty dark and a little raunchy. If you wanna watch it, click on Retrosofa at the link I posted and then go on to watch the videos on your own. I would suggest watching the "Somewhere Today" intro, since it wasn't included in the beginning of episode 2 and it is really good IMO.




in other news, I'm rewatching Wing Gundam, an old series I used to watch back in the day. I love it then as I do now, but I'm watching the dub as, honestly, subs make me sleepy (It's the reading) and despite an amazing cast (Brad Swaile, Brian Drummond, etc...) the script was fucking terrible. The dialogue was SO poorly translated/written.

"THE ENEMY ISN'T COMING"

"But they are 'coming'"



"Got it! We'll shoot it down with the machine guns!!!"

"Forget the machineguns, SHOOT THAT THING DOWN!!!"



Each episode has at least one or two quotes in it that just make you go "WHAT THE FUCK!" My guess is there was no overall supervisor/director and no one looked over the script after it was done.








My point is, many times, it's not the actors' fault, it's the guys behind the curtain that fuck up.

The next day, Dad came to wake me up like normal, in the same normal voice and... things just feel normal. But... can things really slip back into normality so quickly?


I'll admit, in my last journal, I was in an extremely emotional state. I was weakened already due to fatigue, admittedly, lack of eating, (I'd love to lose a few pounds, but I don't want my bowels to come to a complete stop) and there was an accident before heading back home from Otakon, which added to my stress level. I'll give further details on that in my youtube Vlog about my adventure at Otakon, which I'll make after I'm certain this blows over, but I was thinking about that accident as well that night, as well as everything else. the EZpass, the AAA card, all those things my friends thanked me for, the things I felt proud of myself for doing, were all things I could've never done without my Dad, something I've never felt uncomfortable with until now.

But I digress, a lot of those thins I said in my journal last night were exaggerations. Even if I switched my major and worked with my dad for the rest of my life, I'd never give up writing. VAing maybe, but not writing.

And to all the people who refused to let me think I'm a failure, THANK YOU! I feel a lot better knowing I have the support of friends in times like this... I mean, I kind of already knew that, but it's good to have a reminder every once and a while, you know?

And maybe I'm not a loser, but that doesn't change the fact that, at 19 years of age, I'm too reliant on this family's income to live.


@ plushabilities: sorry if I made you worry. I'm feeling okay now. And the same thing goes for you, if you ever need 'my' support, that's available too, and I think that's why we work well together. And sorry if I sold you a little short. Even if I lost my dad, which would be a HUGE chunk out of my chest, I'd still have you.

@ InsanityIN3D: 1 I'm convinced my brother is nuts, but this sleeping thing is different. He rarely eats and yet he has the entergy to stay up past 1'o'clock in the morning and refuses to sleep without a partner. Plus he wakes up at the crack of dawn.

2 Sorry about that. Again, I was weak, and not ready for that at ALL, so the levis broke off a little bit that night. I know I'm not a "failure" yet. I still have time to turn things around.

My youngest brother has a sleeping problem in which he stays up late at night and refuses to go to bed, even when my father tells him to. When I'm told to go to bed, I do it. From an early age, my dad taught me that when he says jump, I say how high. But my brother... both of them actually, they just don't listen to him, maybe they don't even respect him. Maybe.... Maybe I don't.

I had just given my brother his new toy that I bought for him after returning from Otakon, and he was told to go to bed right afterward, but he refused, started screaming, and suddenly my Dad was set off like never before. He started screaming things like "I'm done with this family!", a few suspenseful footsteps later, and SLAM, the door bashes shut, and then I hear my dad's car driving off.

I was upstairs sitting at the foot of my steps. I wanted to go down. I really did. I wanted so bad to tell him not to go, that everything was going to be fine, that I would help, that I could help somehow. But I was so scared. I've never heard my dad go off like that before, and I was just plain frightened.

Even now, my cellphone is in my pocket, waiting for me to call my dad's cell. But I'm too scared to call him. For one thing, it's only been about a half an hour since he left, and if I call him while he's still angry, I may make things worse. Second, he's driving angry, which worries me already, and if I call him while he's driving, that's just going to make it harder for him to concentrate on the road. I want him to come back safe and sound.

Plus, how could I confront him now? I don't have a job or a car. I've been dating the same girl for well over a year now and I've hardly even kissed her. I'm a coward; a loser. How could I not see that until now. Why didn't I work harder to change things? Why did I ever think I deserved to share the same air with that man? I may have never said it to his face, and maybe I didn't realize it right away, but I look up to him, and I always have. He's worked so hard to support this family, even in tough times, and how do we repay him? He works so hard, and all I do is goof off and procrastinate. I'm such a failure!

Well, not anymore. Dad, if you're reading this right now, or if you find it tomorrow, I want you to know that I love you with all my heart. I'll get a job and a car, I'll pay back all the money I owe you for otakon, including last year. I'll send you every single paycheck I get, and live off of whatever scraps are left. I'll give up all my favorite foods, and eat the cheapest healthiest foods you and mom want me to eat. Hell! I'll even give up writing, and voice acting! I'll switch my major from journalism to Metal Working and become a surgical instrument repairman like you, and work with you for the rest of my life. I"LL DO ANYTHING TO GET YOU BACK!!!!

Dad, if you're reading this, PLEASE come home! I'm begging you! I'll take care of Sean, I'll teach him to behave and go to bed when he's told. I'll defend you when you yell at mom for babying sean too much, because you're right, she does, and I do it too, and it's got to stop.

However, I did not sleep last night... at all, like not even two hours, I stayed up the whole night just fucking laying there and then I decided to work on Voice Acting in Japanese [link] Half of the vid sucks and the rest of it, IMO is dead on with Takahiro Sakurai.

After that, I finally got around to finishing my Cosplay. I'm going as Squall from FFVIII. I got this idea when I saw that I had enough clothes and material in my room and house to make it from scratch, but it was that delivered the fur that really makes the costume.

Keep in mind though, this cosplay is EXTREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEMELY Ghetto. I needed to make my jacket look shorter, so I used safety pins to fold half of it over, making it look like Squall's jacket. I won't even bother with the Jewelry, although I wish I had the Lion belt buckle.

I have the black pants and the three belts, the black tarp on the side of his leg and the white fur on his collar and on both sides of his hips.

The only thing I'm missing is the Gunblade, which is quazi optional, and I may be able to procure one on location. I can't imagine it'd be that difficult. I got Tenza Zangetsu the last time I went to Otakon. (As well as whatever you call Ichigo's sword when it's not in Bankai form, I suppose it's just called Zangetsu?)

I'm contemplating on falling asleep right now, but after that I will work on getting the money that my mom owes me after I lent her like 45 dollars (ALL THE MONEY IN MY WALLET) to buy booze at the lake club. And she didn't even come back the slightest bit drunk! If you're gonna force me to give you all my money so you can go drink, the LEAST YOU CAN DO is come back slobberknockered!

Also, my Awesome Dad is apparently giving me a little spending money too. I wish he didn't have to do that. I wanna get a job so bad, but I SOOO don't want to work at food places. I'm too fat already!!! That little Rite Aid down by the corner was SOOO perfect, but it looks like they aren't gonna call me back. FUCK YOU RECESSION!!!

My dad told me to look into this Mechanical Turk site. I've looked it over, but I'd need him there to walk me through it. I've never officially worked before (officially, that is. I have babysat)

I also gotta get food that won't go bad for what I assume will be a big ass pile of food on a table at the hotel, similar to the one I saw last year with the hotel room with like 12 people in it. *sigh* Part of me wishes we stayed there and made noise with those BAMFs.

Nothing happened much on Saturday.

Sunday, today, (my actual birthday) I went to see Rozfest again, although we only saw one band, and then we saw the new Wolverine X-men movie. It was pretty cool.

On a lighter note, I'm going out tonight with to see a one-night-only showing of the L movie. (technically two-nights, but shhhh.....) I had a little trouble with money, but my dad took care of me. Rayman playthrough (Cancelled) The only source that has the game's ISO file has a corrupted file that won't play right, so it's useless to me. Therefore I'm going to play through something different.

Getting enough money to pay for hotel spot for Otacon: 10%: I have ten whole dollars! *sigh* I gotta get around to getting a job. I'm just hoping I can get enough cash before the deadline. My parents will buy the ticket, I think. As for spending money... well, I'll probably have some cash left over by the time the actual convention comes along. Besides, my B-day's coming up, and I always get like 100+ dollars from that, which pretty much was my spending money AND my hotel money last year.

On another note Japanese players on AdHoc Party are douchebags sometimes. They won't take off their bullshit equipment and fight fairly, and when they beat you (Big fucking surprise since their pretty much invincible with their bullshit equipment) they kick you out of their server. What assholes!!! The english players on their won't even fight with me. I only have one friend on there. I should contact them again, since I've gotten a LOT better since the last time I fought with the person.

Hi.

Easter was fun, as well as seeing all my family again. Sometimes they can be slightly irritating when they bring up my eating habits. See, I have sensory issues. I feel textures extra sensitively, I used to be able to hear things good but I wore my ears out with loud music, I'm extra sensitive emotionally, and, of course, I'm EXTRA sensitive taste-bud wise.

However, my family interprets that as being a picky eater, which is somewhat true, I suppose. But it's not just tastes, it's textures, how it feels. if it's not JUST right, then I don't want to eat it. I "can", I just don't want to. And if the smell is off, then forget about it. I've done this several times, and if it doesn't smell quite right, it's not gonna taste good for me. That's what PISSES me off about pizza, because A) everyone likes it, and B) more often than not it smells really good because I smell the toasted bread and the cheese part of it. Going into my mouth, however, the tomatoes make me really sick, so much so that I can't swallow. The only way I can eat pizza if there's not tomato sauce, or if I add salt, and the grease on most pizza's are bad enough for you without adding salt. Sometimes (And by sometimes I mean this one time) the grease is so abundant that I can't taste the tomatoes, so I'm able to eat it then, but what are the odds of that?


And that's just ONE item of food. There are dozens upon dozens of food that have little problems (for me) like that that make them range from unfavorable to uneatable.(for me) It's not picky, because it's not like I haven't given these foods a chance in the past, like I said, it's a sensory thing.

1: Over 9000: Since I got the views, I really should start working on the "Over NINE THOUSAAAAND!!!" tribute picture that has been accustomed for Deviantartists to do once they break that barrier. However, I can safely say this can wait until after I finish college work.

2: Imagine - Brunch Tribute english translated version: A while back, I took the translation of the Korean song "Imagine" and gave it rhyme that actually rhymes with the original Korean lyrics (With some exceptions) and ever since I did that I've been thinking about just making the song all together. I've been inspired and uninspired to do this, but since I have a program that can help me do this, and since I have a slightly better microphone, I'm going to try this.

Imagine tribute remix: 45% done. (I isolated the instrumental from the lyrics, creating a Karaoke version, and sped it up so I don't have to hold higher notes as long as I would in the normal version. Plus, the sped up version sounds amazing!!!)



3: Rayman 1 Letsplay: I used to play this musical platformer when I was little, but never beat it. Honestly, the only thing I really want to do is play the first level just because it's so hilarious. That and the first moskito boss fight.

As for the rest of the stuff imbetween... well, maybe. I have a CRAH-HAP load of work to do for school (three final projects coming up) so maybe in like 3 or 4 weeks I'll have some time for it.

Everyone's (Not just my GF and Insanity) been telling me how this show is different from other anime because it's insane. Of the finale, what I saw was pretty straightforward. I like straightforward, so therefore I liked it.

Btw, the final villain is definitely Doctor Octagonapus. Look at Kishin/Ashura in the video again and then watch this.

The connection was a LOT better (at least on my end) but there was still some noticeable lag, which only effected gameplay during dodge matches. (or whatever that's called)

It was also easier because I was versing someone who also spoke english, so after a couple of epic losses, he gave me some tips on how to use Cloud more effectively. After changing some of my abilities, utilizing his advice and applying it to my regular strategy (killkillkillkillkillkill) and I ended up winning a couple times. Once against his Ultimecia (VERY CLOSE MATCH) and once against his Kefka (I did really good here), and lots of times it got very close (both of us going down to 1 HP) but for the most part, he beat me the most. He was clearly more experienced fighter, considering all the Lvl 100 characters he had under his belt (I saw at least 7, while I only have my Cloud at lvl 100.)

I think I'm gonna try leveling up other characters like Titus and Frioniel to 100 so I can have more variaty. I also want to get better with Sephiroth.

The first thing I noticed was quite a bit of lag, which, in my opinion, was pretty brutal, but at the same time, wasn't enough to deter all that much from gameplay. Besides, it doesn't suprise me, considering I was versing someone all the way from Japan using a first gen PSP. (Not as good as the PSP slim)


Anyway, he kicked my ass REAL good. It wasn't my fault, though. We had lvl 100 characters, I was using cloud and he was using Gabranth. The big problem, however, was that I was using lvl 50 equipment while he was using all lvl 100 equipment. In short, while he was doing 400 damage to my bravery points, I was only doing about 4 damage.

I survived a very long time, hitting him at least 4 or 5 times, each hit doing 900 damage to his total HP, and I dodged a lot of attacks that would have dealt lots of damage to me, but alas, I can't dodge every hit, and he aquired enough bravery to kill me in one shot with a whopping 9999 point attack.

Then in the online chat feature, he called me "Baka." He must have realized I was american since I wasn't typing in Hiragana.... Fuckin bastard... And I couldn't even reply back since the guy probably wouldn't be able to read japanese Roomaji. (Japanese written in the english alphabet)


We had a few more matches immediately following, but they were shorter and I didn't do as well.


Despite the lag, and despite the fact that I got mine ass handed to me by an overpowered character, I still had a lot of fun.
