Due to the lack of any widespread interest, and besides the fact that it really WAS a stupid idea to begin with, I've decided that AeroShell isn't worth pursuing anymore. Not that anyone besides the few dozen of us that have been involved somehow with it will notice.

Guess that when it comes down to it, a "fake" shell isn't worth the trouble.

Thanks go out to those of you who provided kind comments over the past couple of years. You guys kept it going as long as it went.

I'll be around -- I'm not going anywhere.

Man this is a lot of work -- but of course totally worth it. AeroShell 2.0 is going to be pretty cool.

I'm playing around with the idea of having fly-outs on the desktop like in those Gnome mockups on flickr. It's a great idea and so far it works well in the test configs I've made.

The StartPanel/Taskbar interaction continues to change. I'm still not happy with it though. I take one thing away and add another, seems like. I'd love another train of thought on this one, because I can't seem to decide what exactly I want. If anyone has their own idea, I'm all eyes and ears.

New Rightclick menu continues to get more complex. I want it to be good, but not an overload of information either. So far it's got a mini Task Process monitor, memory and cpu useage, along with the menu items. And of course, it's using the new theme and looks decent but not great. It's still missing something. I'll get it together eventually.

Theme is about 70% done now, but I have to admit that I'm taking my time getting things finished. I think I might be starting to burn out a little.

I decided that it's been too long since I was on deviantArt. With all that's been going on with AeroShell, all the cool updates and new things, SOMEBODY besides the folks on the Beta boards should see it.

This release of AeroShell won't be available for possibly five more months. Why? Vista. The next public release of the shell MUST work on Vista -- and it currently does not. Samurize does not work on Vista anymore. No Samurize, no AeroShell. Litestep also needs a siginifcant update to run cleanly on Vista as well. Currently it's ... well, finicky.

I'll update the gallery with new screenshots momentarily.
