Summer 2012
I had a great spring and summer this year traveling and going to more cons and appearances than I have in years! We went to three Chicago shows (C2E2,  Wizard World, Zurko Promotions All-Night Flea Market),  Derby-City Con in Louisville Kentucky, Motor-City in Detroit, and of course our trip of a lifetime to Lyon, France and the comic shop COMICS ZONE. It will be hard to beat all that.

Derby City Comic Con! 6/30/12
Last weekend Linda and I had a wonderful time in Louisville, Kentucky at the Derby City Comicon! On our arrival late Friday night we were very happy to run into unofficial greeter Larry Hama in our hotel lobby and the later Linda and I took a walk to find a place to eat. SUPERGIRL#3 Mahmud Asrar and me.

I was fortunate to be asked by Mahmud Asrar :iconanjum: and DC to do finishes on Supergirl#3. Starting with Supergirl#4 Mahmud will be both penciling and inking with added marker tones. A technique he is well know for on his commission work.
So in order to prepare for that and to perform a bit of transition I was asked to help with this issue. I had a great time working with Mahmud and although my approach is somewhat different than his he was very supportive.

CHICAGO COMIC CON - A late report
The Chicago Comic Con this year was different than any before. The Artist Alley was huge!
Seemed like it took up half the floor. More celebrities too like Patrick Stewart, Bruce Campbell, Christopher Lloyd, Anthony Michael Hall, and Billy Corgan. Well I saw none of those. I was nailed down to my table the whole time. Those actors may as well have been across the country for as close as I was going to get of a glimpse. The good thing is it means I had a successful show.

WINTER WONDERLAND! 2-2-11

The Chicago area as much of the country got hit by a blizzard the night of Feb. 1. The day before that we already had a few inches of snow on the ground.  With that added we had nearly 2 feet of snow quickly overnight. My family, as we often do, slept in late. Maybe it was because we stayed at the Hard Rock, but the con seemed more Hollywood than ever! While at my half a table in artist alley Wesley Snipes walked by, and Tom Lennon (Lt. Jim Dangle from Reno 911). Saw Gene Simmons and son in our hotel. Couldn't enter our lobby for two nights without showing our keycard because of big parties.

It was a little overcast, but more color than we've ever seen on one of our fall weekend trips there. Sometimes we're too early or too late, but timed it just right this year. Most of the time I was nailed down at my table and unfortunately saw little of the con itself. I've made a bunch of new friends and have been made to feel part of this DA community.
Thanks for all the friend and favorite adds plus all the nice comments (I'm trying to catch up).

I could get distracted for days looking at all the great artwork here. I get lost every time I check out someone else's favorites. I think I have a new hobby!

Here's a short bio of my adventures in comic art-

I'm a 1982 graduate of the American Academy of Art in downtown Chicago. I have been a professional Comic Book Artist since 1981. Working for comic book companies such as, Noble Comics, First Comics, Marvel Comics, DC comics, and Dark Horse. Drawing characters The Justice Machine, The Badger, The Punisher, Silver Surfer, Batman, Magnus Robot Fighter and more.
The bulk of my comic work doing pencils was with the great writer Mike Baron. In 1993 we co-created a series called SPYKE that was originally published by Epic/Marvel.
I've also done several pieces of a ]]>
