Hey Baby Train Fans, we're looking for some (Baby Train) fan art to fill pages for the book we're going to put out. Right now we're thinking of just a black and white print run, and to be honest everything is up in air but we know we'd love to show off some people's awesome artwork in the book. There's not really a deadline for this because we haven't really started putting the book together yet, but we are down to 10 more strips, so the sooner the better. E-mail me at billdrastal@hotmail.com or send me a note if you have any questions or to send me a file.

Also to everyone who has commented on the strips and followed it since the beginning, we can't thank you enough for your support. You make us want to keep creating.

-Bill and Karen

(edit- Haha should of made it clearer we were looking for Baby Train Fan art.)

We are still going to go for 9 months and then the strip will end. Now we've gotten a lot of positive response to the strip and questions about the possibility of a book. Well, I can say that yes we are planning on publishing a collection of all the strips. Now, we'd like to try and find out what kind of interest there is in a book, so, I'm not able to make a poll so please comment, who on DA would like or know someone who would like a copy?

Thanks also for you readership and dropping by and giving us great comments, we both appreciate it.

-Bill and Karen

I assume it was the sound file I used for the animation, but I had only done the animation for practice and had only ever used it for that purpose. I did receive notices about filling out copyright forms. I thought it was an error but as yet no one on DA responded to me and I was just told that my deviation had been deleted. Now I thought work done fore practice or used in an educational fashion was okay to display by copyright law, are Deviatart rules on this different? So here's the deal:

$10 for a black and white sketch of a single character, $5 for each additional character

$20 for a color sketch and 15 for each additional character.

This is just digital media right now, and I'll send you an unwater-marked file when they're done. I'm going to start with just 5 right now, just send me a note with what you want. I'll take paypal, money orders, and cash. I plan on doing more, I just want to see how this works out right now.

Thanks in advance, this money will really help.

Edit: The assumption for this was that I would be drawing other people's characters, not creating new ones for business purposes. If you would like to contract me to design and draw characters for your business please email me at billdrastal@hotmail.com, I would love to talk to you.

Well since I got tagged by I guess I gotta give this a go.

More of a story than 10 points I guess.

1. I always liked doodling and drawing as a kid, but I never thought of actually doing anything art related as a future career. I loved Saturday morning cartoons, Disney, you name it. I only wanted to watch cartoons, I even shunned a lot of live action shows, just because they weren't cartoons.

2. But even though I loved cartoons it never really occurred to me that it would be something to do as a job, or heck just to make it more that just a hobby. I think at the time I really wanted to be a scientist (what 10 year old didn't) so I was all into space and dinosaurs. I think though I kept my love for art and drawing strong thanks to my Dad's comic book collection. An assorted library of Batman, Aliens, Predator, and Uncle Scrooge Comic books. But for the most part art was something I did to pass the time when I couldn't watch TV.

3. It wasn't until high school that I started really looking at my art seriously, and even then it wasn't until my junior year really. I had tried collecting comic books, but I'm terrible at keeping track of them and a lot of my books got destroyed from sheer neglect (I still collect, but thank god for trade paper backs). I loved trying to draw all my favorite super heroes. But I was never any good. I think it was when I got into anime and this is where I hold my head and shudder, because as much as I can't stand anime today, it got me really drawing and really taking my art seriously.

4. So all through out high school I was drawing, I did have a small social life, but I was at a small high school so having 6 friends that nerded out while you drew in the corner is not much of a social life, but it was a life ...I guess. I did a lot of doodling during class, and whenever I could find spare time, I drew. My parents were helpful, they never bothered me too much when I was zoning out drawing, even though it was usually during family occasions. My Dad was a big help, he would take me to Comic, Con, point out where my anatomy was wrong. Actually both parents would do that, because they're both Nurses. And things went fine until I graduated and then actually had to face the real world.

5. And this is where I really got serious, well, getting serious after lagging about for a few years not really going anywhere. The seriousness started when I took a job drawing portraits at Sea World San Diego. I got the job through an animation class I was taking at a local high school. Apparently one of the students was connected with the Company at Sea World (Kaman's Art shoppes) so they came in a did a caricature and portrait demonstration and said they were looking for artists. I signed up and was hired doing portraits, and later when I was moved up to doing caricatures. Man did that ever have an influence on my art. I slowly shook loose a lot of the anime influences, and really started focusing on "cartoons".

6. Over the years of working at sea world I went to school got my degree in animation, went through tons of fazes with my art from "I like Steve Silver" to "I hate Steve Silver...and recently John K"..... Going nuts over comics all over again, I still do comics for my friend Tod over at Young American Comics, and gearing up to get into the animation industry.

7.I definitely still work with a caricature mentality of "get it done quick, don't care how, don't care if its good, just get it done quick." Which has its ups and downs, and lately I've been finding out a lot about the downs of it. I find myself in a transition stage with my art. I know I'm getting better and improving, but I find I'm having to change the way I work, and change the expectations I have for myself.

And here's some points I try to live by.

8. To me Drawing cartoons is all about making people laugh. I think that's why I draw primarily cartoons, because their funny, and their funny in an honest way. Because instead of hiding things they bring them out in the open, simplify them and make the world a less frightening place to be in.

9. The act of drawing should always be seen as fun because the inherent quality of the artwork, the feeling and energy it can convey will always suffer when not done with a positive attitude. That's my two cents.

10. And uh here's another one, I'll always prefer a cartoon to a realistic drawing, because if I wanted real life I'd just take a photo. There you go chew on that one.

Okay so now I'm going to tag <img class="avatar" src="http://a.deviantart.com/avatars/k/a/karma9999.jpg" width="50" height="50" alt="...
