One year without an update.

Well I'm still alive for anyone that cares and I'm just starting to crawl over the wall of artist block I've been suffering from (not to mention all the distractions *cough*Halo). Finished up my first game character so I'm a little psyched(and relieved). I'm thinking about revamping something old, but I really need to work on my drawing and sketching(texturing was a painful reminder).

Well, who the heck knows when I'll be back so,

Well haven't posted a journal in a while, heck I haven't done much on devintart in quite a while, hmm have fix that, speaking of fixing.

My computer crashed last week, in a freak formatting accident, sort of. I got my Linux disks in the mail (Kubuntu to be exact), and was installing it onto my second hard drive so Windows could have the first. I finished that and then tried to start windows and got.... nothing, it wouldn't start. So I install Windows on another hard drive and got Windows started up. That was the good news, now the bad news is that windows looks at the first drive and basicly says "what the hell is THAT?", unfortunately all my files from the past two years are on that drive.
So now I have to get fix it software or I'll loose my stuff permenantly. 35gigs is a lot to loose.

I did get Kubuntu and windows to live together now, they're now roommates on one hard drive, otherwise they fight. I Really like Kubuntu it has a ton of cool programs, like Kopete which instant messanger program that can talk to MSN, Yahoo, and a half dozen others. It has really good office programs right out of the box. And best of all its all FREE, FREE, FREE. Linux is a free operating system.

When I get stuff fixed, hopefully soon, I'll post something on Deviantart. I wasn't posting much before due to some crippling and depressing artist block. It sucks to feel retard everytime you put a pencil to paper, but I think I'm over it now.

My new tablet kicks ass. I was able to get five drawing in a weeks time and two of them were colored (new personal record).

The tablets alot faster and way more accurate than a mouse, its pressure sensitive which lets me make fat and skinny lines with changing brush sizes (great for hard to reach places), plus it has lots extra buttons that save alot of extra clicking and scrolling (awesome for web surfing with built in back button).

But enough about that.

I'm happy I've got new pics up and a new avatar (does it look OK?). Got really depressed recently, but I'm feeling better now. I've been busy with pics so I haven't been checking my friends stuff recently, but that's getting fixed very quickly.

Feel free to critique my new pics.
Sorry I haven't been posting recently, but I either been feeling like crap or too busy to sketch.
My 500 page view is coming soon so I'm celebrating that too. That probably would have occured on my b-day too had I gotten my pic up on time.

I just borrowed the Appleseed movie from a friend and its awesome. Definitely one of my favorites (I'll probably buy my own copy). I was pissed off that I couldn't see it when it first came out. The 3d art and animation are wonderful althought the cartoon shading of the characters is a little weird in a few spots. The stortline was a lot darker (where did all the humor go?) than the books were but, I think it made the movie a lot better. I really liked the music so I might go and get the sound track when I can get some extra cash. The exciting battle scenes and robot fighting were great.
Go check out the previews at [link] if you don't have a clue what this movie is about.

It was an eventful day and I haven't typed up a journal in a while so here we go....

Today was an odd day. I woke up got dressed and headed for my grandpa's farm (That's what I do most of the summer). While biking to my grandpa's farm, I near get hit by a flying turkey (they not very graceful flyers).

When I arrive at my Grandpa's house I have to side rake the hay (rolling long strips of hay over so it dries on the bottum. Its not exciting but at least I get to use heavy equipment )

Nest We get the baler ready. ( I hate baling hay. It is the most aweful task ever conceived by man.) A baler squishes hay into a cube like shape about the twice the size of of a microwave. The bales of hay are then launched, out of the back of the baler, with enough force to throw the 40 pound cube trought the air like it was football. The bale lands on a wagon. (The naxt part is what I hate) then the wagons are carefully unloaded by hand ( I hate that because its like trying to move a 40 pound hedgehog. It's hot, sweaty, hard work. And you get cover with little bits hay which can really make you itch really bad if your not used to it.)

(Don't worry I'm getting to the interesting part... ... I hope)

My nest task is to take the baler and make hay bales (Yay I get to use really heavy equipment). So I go out into the field and discover one very important metal shaft is snapped in two. So I take the baler home (That's what I call my grandpa's farm even though I don't live there) and make a new shaft ( I'm very good with tools). I get that fixed and go back out to the field where more trouble is waiting for me. I didn't have the baler set up right so the baler was either spitting out really heavy bales or the bales busted (which is like a small explosion of hay and it makes a huge mess ). I made a mess of that field for a while, but I managed to get the baler adjusted properly. Not too long after that, part of drive shaft busted. I was moving along when all of a sudden I saw a chunk of something, flying through the air. It was immediately followed by the sound of the drive shaft flying of the machine while still spinning at 540 rotations a minute (which is really really fast). I was of course scrambling to shut the machine down. So now I my grandpa I have to wait until monday to get the replacement part. I hope doesn't rain by then (because wet hay bales rot and can start fires. I'm serious, they can start huge fires).

So that was my day.

(I apologize if this story bores you)
(I also apologize for the excessive explainations. I wasn't sure how much you people knew about farming)

I guess it was just one of those days... ... but a bad day at the farm is still better than a good day at school.

I just wanted to share a little piece of my life with you.

I'm really pooped out from this weekend. I picked stones out of my grandpa's fields on Saturday and got a nasty sunburn on the back of my neck and on my forearms. I'd be fine if my sister would stop rubbing on my neck. I went back to my grandpa's farm on Sunday and helped him plant corn. The fields were really dry so the air was thick with dust. The dust gets everywhere, on your equipment, on your boots and clothes and on yourself. I was just covered in dust after I came out of the field.
It was an over night activity and so I brought my computer to play DVDs (My computer's graphics card can plug into TVs). I played some games and watched part of a DVD before most of the kids went to sleep. So I went in another room with my friends and we surfed on Devianart until 3:00 am. I went to bed and was awaked at 5:00 am to go eat breakfast. I was very wobbly for most of the morning. I go home for a little while and then go to my grandpa's house to help him with farm work. My grandpa wants me to till up one of the fields while he fertilizes another. So he puts me on one of the largest tractors he owns. Opperating heavy machinery with 2 hours sleep is challenging, but with the the radio at full blast on my favorite rock station, I was able to stay awake. I come home and don't get to bed until midnight because of computer problems. Then on Sunday I was up until 12:00 am trying to get some sketching done.

Last Night I went to the Madison Area Technical College's portfolio show to see what the animation program was like. At first I thought I was never going to be able to do same quality of work as some of the students there. I started talking to one and he said when he entered the program he couldn't draw at all (he has some fantastic drawings now), but they teach you how to draw starting from the basics. I talked to the other students and they said similar things. I was a little relieved to hear this (I think I might be able to handle the program). I talked with one of the students about drawing tablets and he said he used his every day in college so I going to save up and buy a tablet (Wacom Intuos3 6x8). Then I talked to the instructor. He said I told me I should start drawing my charachters so they look like they are real and less like anime charcters (So my drawing style might have to change). He gave me some good advice and a few tips. He also told me I should start building up a library of books, magazines, and images to use as reference for my drawings.

So, I learned that I really need a tablet and I need to change my style a little bit.

I might not be around here for the next day or so. I have to reformat my computer (erase harddrive and start over, for those that don't know what reformatting is). Luckily I have a second hard drive that will carry my drawings and games until the first one becomes functional again. I hope this works. Wish me luck, because I'm going to need it.
