Soooo... my November journal, the real one =p

First a quick personnal update: Spain was great, nice house, nice weather, but a bit stormy at the end. Looooong walks as well. My dad loves to explores the environment, but the map doesn't always lead us home. Especially when we try to take shortcuts which aren't there =S Going on vacation with my dad, it's always an adventure.

My worries about school were unnecessary. I don't know the word in English, so I'm just going to say it in Dutch. I'm on "stage". It's going to work, but we still get all these schoolassignments about it. 3 months, then it's back to school again. I was very nervous, but the people are very nice. They help me out a lot.

Ooookay, since this is still an art site and not twitter:
I'm slightley moving away from the Disney style. Not because I don't like it anymore, but I really need to practise on other styles in order to get more life into my disney drawings. When I draw, I feel it gets better and better. I need less reference pictures or I can combine different ones. Yet, when I browse through my gallery, the result is more or less the same. There is not much evolution. It bothers me and I really want to get better. My next project is in a storybook style.

Still working on that request. (Told you I am not good at requests). I missed my first portrait-lesson due to schoolwork :( The second one is this Wednessday.

Btw, what do think of this new journal skin? It's made by Moonfreak. I wanted to try it out since skins are free for a limited time =)

Well it isn't even an Oktober journal, since it's the first of November. Truth to be told: I completely forgot about it! :ashamed:

So just a quick update :)

personal:
Disneyland was great (as expected), too bad it lasted only one day. We went with two families. Sometimes we split up to reunite a few hours later. It was fun. On the way home though, we got a bit lost. Near the border of Belgium, the GPS and the signs on the road didn't match anymore. It was the first time we travelled with that thing, I swear never again! We got home 4 hours later than planned.

After good luck September, we had bad luck oktober: everything broke! Well, not everything, but lots of stuff. A new fridge, new sink, new car, even a new pc. At least those problems are fixed permantly.

I celebrated Halloween with my 'scouting' this year. The children were so cute! I went as a broken porcelain doll (lots of fun make up!!), but no one had a clue what I was supposed to be =( They thought I was some sort of witch...

Art-related:

I cannot see another plant! In art-class we had to draw them over and over again. Fortunately, we moved on. We drew drapes and a bird. Not worth uploading though (they're too big for my scanner anyway). In November we'll start on portraits! Yay! :w00t:

I'm working on a sort of project and a request. That's why I haven't uploaded anything new so far.

Other art-related news, in my next journal, which will be not be put up for at least another week. I'll be spending the next 10 days in Spain. We've been planning this holiday for a long time and now it's finally here, I am not in the mood for it. I worry to much about school.

First, my computer is fixed. Everything works as it should, so I am back submitting.

Secondly, I am officially going to an art school! Evening classes, twice a week, to combine it with my regular schoolwork. We are supposed to leave our work at school, but I hope I can take it home occasionally to show you guys how I am doing.

College doesn't start untill the 21st, so I have 2,5 free weeks left ! =D

And, in case I haven't told you yet, I am going to Disneyland Paris this saturday! (5th of September).

UPDATE: my fellow belgians probably already know this by now, so I'd like to tell this to all the other Deviants: WE HAVE FINALLY A DISNEY STORE!!!!! I recently discovered we had one by the seaside, but that's the other side of the country for me. Now I have one 15 minutes(!!!) from my home. :excited: It opened September the 5th (the day I went to Disneyland, coincidence?) Perhaps not so great news, because I am afraid I will spend lots of money there... Ah what am I talking about, this is SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS ! ! !

Good news and bad news.

Good news: I have my pc back and I still have all of my files.

Bad news: All my programs are gone and internet doesn't work. I am at a friend's house now.

This sucks, big time, since I can't finish my WIP's (I have to re-install photoshop and for some odd reason I can't), plus I can't upload my finished works. My bookmark is ready and I still have the photos of my self-made disneygame. I wanted to enter those photos for the "Try something new" project at :icondisneydreamers:. It's due 15th of August. =(

Okay, now to cheer things up: I turned 19 yesterday. Time flies, I remember typing "I won't grow up" in here. I still won't, but my first year as an adult wasn't so bad =) In fact, I discovered all the advantages. College gives me much more room to breathe, I got to vote and I have got my temporary driver's licence.
Compared to last year, I did nothing special. A few friends came over. We went swimming and had a sleepover. In the evening came some family. Oh, I got the Tinker Bell movie! My collection keeps expanding! =D

I want to go to artschool in September. Evening classes of course, to combine it with my regular school. More about that next month. :)

First of all. My PC is acting crazy again. I had to bring him in so they could check what's wrong. I am typing this from my uncles computer.

Secondly, summercamp was great, exhausting, but great. I love children so much! The best thing about this is that I can be a little child myself. We made this disney game (of which I'll post photo's of as soon as my pc is back) and I could be a part of it. It was amazing.

New additions to my PP collection: the book "Fairydust and the Quest for the Egg" and the smaller book "The Trouble with Tink", both in Dutch. I like them very much.

I am working on little bits and pieces, but no real projects so far. I am still finishing the bookmarks. I can't seem to get them quite right.

Anyway, exams are over. I had my last one yesterday, now I just have to wait for my results. I'll get them in 10 days from now.
EDIT: I got my results and I passed on all my exams, except one, but I don't have to take that examaniation again. :dance:

In the meantime, it's all about the summer camp! I still have to do some preparations, and I already leave the first of July. The children will arrive the day after. I'll be back the 11th, meaning this journal will be uploaded late again.

Some more personnal updates:
I participated in a contest to win tickets for Disneyland Resort Paris. We had to collect stickers and the first 50.000 complete albums got a free ticket and the opportunity to buy extra tickets for a very good price. Guess what? I won! This means I'll be going to Disneyland again this year!! I think this is rather funny because we've been saying that 'this would be the last time' for the past 4 years. And I've been there 4 years in a row =D
Of course, this IS the very last time! *sarcastic laugh* :giggle:

I've rented some books about the 20th century and how the family life changed throughout the years. Meaning: more scetches about the 1920's.

Last but not least: I'm working on something which involves digital inking, shading and a huge background! Yeah, I know, me doing backgrounds? Well, it's about time! =D

Also, I'd like to thank all the people who've been favouriting(?) my work. I also got new watchers, and I just want to say that it means a lot to me. Don't forget to comment now and then. Because no matter how I appreciate the favs, I'm mostly here to learn.

I've been shopping last month. My Peter Pan book collection has expanded. I bought "Peter Pan" (got tired of renting it in the library), "Capt. Hook" by J.V. Hart and "Peter Pan in scarlet" by Geraldine McCaughrean. I could hardly decide what to read first!

I got some new dvd's as well: "Return to Neverland", "Enchanted" and "the Princess and the Pea" (a movie I thought wasn't available in Belgium!!) I am thrilled!!!

I almost forgot to update my journal this month! Well, perhaps it's because I have not much to tell, except that I haven't uploaded for a while, which you guys probably already noticed. It seems that even with my new tablet and all the inking materials needed, I still don't finish my drawings. One thing that really bothers me is that colored characters need a background. I'm not good at drawing backgrounds. I don't practise enough because I don't like drawing bg's.

None the less, practising backgrounds is high on my priority list right now (besides school and stuff of course).

Another reason is because I have been working on some other projects. I'm also writing again. It's not my PP fanfic (the more I read it, the more I dislike it), so no more updates on that one.

Don't worry, I'm keeping my resolutions! It just takes a while before my work gets here. =)

I know, this journal is late... verrry late. Well, I'm very busy studying for my exams. Tomorrow is a 'day off' (in case I could possibly have one during these few weeks), so I figured I could quickly update my journal.

I'll probably have a tablet tommorow! Actually, a bit unexpected because my parents would give me some money if my results were good, so I was waiting for that. But yesterday, I saw an advertising for a Volito2 for a very good prize. I know it's not a Bamboo. I've looked around here and there (dA, Youtube and lots of discussion boards) and although there are many different opinions, I said: What the heck! I want one! I've seen here on dA that people can make beautiful things with it. And because I'll mainly use it for linearts and basic coloring, it's more than good enough for me. I can always buy a more professional model later, when I can actually work with a tablet.

I also got a -oh whatsyoucallitinEnglish- light box (?). You know, that thing you can put drawings on and then trace them on a clean piece of paper? Ah you know what I mean! Well, I already had one, but it was sometimes too small and it wasn't originally meant for drawings, so it wasn't flat. During the Holidays, my uncle found a big, flat one. A very big one... humongous! I don't know where to put it!

So many ecuipments to draw... so little time. Why do these things always pop up during my exams?! It's not fair... =(

I have lots of drawings just waiting to be scanned. I've already told you a few reasons why not, but the main reason is because I want to do something special for my 100th Deviation.

Wow 100... shocking... It's nothing compared to others here, but it's a personal achievement. I guess =)

Okay, so I don't usually do tags, but I wanted to do this one, because =MellasFenixxes (she tagged me) won't be here for the next 3 months! :'( So Melly, here's for you.

The Holidays are coming again and I'm looking forward to them. It's been a busy year for me.
Senior year, first job, Disneyland, new school, ... (Disneyland was only for 3 days, but I put it in the list anyway =p)

Although this will be the first time I'll have my exams in Januari, so this means studying during the holidays.
Ah well... =)

I've decided: I'm buying a Bamboo Fun. The quality is very good and the price is too. I want to dig up some old scetches once I have it. Don't count on it soon though. I'm saving money.

I'm thinking about buying a tablet. Making lineart with a mouse really drives me nuts and it never looks like I want it to look. Unfortunately, it's quite expensive. I don't want the cheapest tablet because I want to learn. But I'm not a professional. Do I need/ can I work with an Intuos3? Or is Bamboo Fun good enough?
I still have to make up my mind.

I went through my drawings again. I'm planning on doing more:
- real life drawing
- hands
- backgrounds

I figured I can't improve when I keep drawing the same things =)

Man, I've been so lazy lately. This journal should've been up for more than than a week now. But no one ever reads these things, so who cares, right? =p

Disneyland was in one word: AMAZING !
There weren't that many people, so we didn't waste much time waiting in cues.:w00t: We saw the parade twice and I stood so close, I swear, if I would've stretched my arm I could've touched the characters ! (respecting their privacy, I didn't =p ) Peter Pan looked me straight in the eyes and waved at me ! At me ! *sigh* I got all dreamy... (Yes, I know they're actors, shut up *sticks out tongue*)
Alas, time flies and it all ended to soon. Now I'll have to wait a couple of years untill I can go again. *cries*

As for my artwork (lol, 'art'work, as if...), I'm doodling a lot, but no real drawings for the moment. I'm having trouble with the 'Disney Queens' series and my next series isn't working out either. My fanfic on the other hand is going very smooth. I wrote down the main storyline, so now all that's left to do is writing the dialogues. What am I saying? That's still a lot of work! I'm experimenting with watercolour paintings. It's fun, but why does it have to dry so long? *impatient*

That's about it, I guess. Oh yes, school's starting on Monday. How about that? =(

My job for this summer is over and I'm rich ! (Not really, but the illusion is great =p) Now I have one month left to do all kinds of fun stuff. (read: spending the money ^^)

EDIT: You guys will NEVER guess what I got for my birthday ! I'm going to celebrate my adulthood in DISNEYLAND PARIS! :excited: At first I couldn't believe it, because we went last year on Halloween. Now I'm going with my best friend 3 days ! 3 days ! ! ! That's 2 sleepovers plus the magic of Disneyland! My eyes got all teary when I saw the tickets. I'm leaving Septembre 1st.

My brother got me 2 books: "The complete guide to drawing and illustration" by Peter Gray (which is really complete! EVERYTHING you need to know is in it.) and "Watercolour fairies. A step by step guide to painting fairies" by David Riché and Anna Franklin.
They're both in Dutch of course. I can't wait to get started =D

somany things happend in the last few weeks. So many things changed in my life. (for those who continue to read: beware of emotional sobness)

I wasn't as stressed as I expected during my exams, although that last weekend was hell. But guess what: I passed. Walking out of that building one last time after spending 6 long years there felt weird. I was glad (of course!), but at the same time I knew I lost everything I knew. Not only the kind of classes, but also my friends, my schoolmates and our own little traditions. (It's a cliché, I know.) Those things will never come back again. Then again: I know I will discover many new things.

Straight from school, I went on camp. It was the first time I was in charge of one of the groups. It is much more fun to be a leader (for many different reasons), but it brings many responsibilities along. I am used to being alone, not doing much physical activities, so those days were exhausting. (But I would go back in a blink of an eye).

I had to come back sooner because I got a job in a boutique. I had never done summer work before. Today was my first day and it went surprisingly well. My feet hurt a little though...

Conclusion: It seems like I'm leaving childhood behind... It scares me and yet I'm looking forward to it at the same time.


Does all this mean I won't have time for dA? No way! I'll make time! I am going to spam your inbox so much that you'd wish you never watched me! *Mhuahaha*

Anyway, I won't be here for the next two weeks (Probably, I will because I'm a lousy student, but I'm going to try very hard to stay focused =p)

My Disney queens series isn't finished yet because I had little burn out (caused by school), but things are better now. I have focus on my final exams though, so I'm afraid you'll have to wait for the rest of the pictures.

I'm experimenting with Photoshop. I've had enough with line arts for a while, so I'm practising on photos. I have to admit, it's quite fun. But again: I won't submit many Deviations for a while.

Lets see... what else (as if anyone read these bloody things =p).

Oh yes, my inspiration has gone crazy. I'm writing already the end of my fanfiction, but I don't have the next part yet.
Does that make any sense?

I figured I shouldn't write a fanfic without reading the original thing. Yes, I have seen both the animated movie as the live action movie of Peter Pan, plus a few alternative versions like "Hook" and "Neverland". I also saw "Finding Neverland" about the life of James Mathew Barrie, the author of Peter Pan. But I have never read the original books. So I went to the library and discovered how little I knew about my favourite character ! I got to know him better and now I love him even more! Somany things inspired me. I am definately going to refer many times to the books. So if you don't understand my story, you should read "The Little White Bird" and "Peter and Wendy". I really want to stay as close to the original characters as I possibly can.
I have to admit that "Adventures in Kensington Gardens" (= part of "The Little White Bird") is a bit weird, but I never claimed that I love it because it was normal =D "Peter and Wendy" is pretty violent. Not to mention sad =( I wouldn't call it a children's story actually, but I like it none the less. =)

I have been in a very creative mood lately. I am doing my first series and I'm finally making linearts of my messy scetches! :w00t:
I also want to thank everyone who colored them ! :hug:

Since 2008 is already a month old, I thought about posting my to do list. I read my old journals and I hate the way I made al kinds of excuses. An artist MAKES time to draw, right? And I don't have to color every scetch. My new years resolution: posting more deviations !

as for me, my Photoshop is still down so I can't color anything. I'll put some scetches up to show I'm still alive and kicking. apparently, there is a new rule about aging characters, so I'm not sure if I can post my new fan-art/-fiction.

Damn, I'm making excuses again! I promised myself to stop that in 2008 ! I'll post it anyway. If DA doesn't like it I'll put it down again. Simple as that.

I have some new fanart ideas in my head, but I don't want to rush them. Slow is good. From experiance I can tell that the drawings come out way better when they had time to develop in my head.

So please be patient, I'll upload it as soon as I have one finished.

I'm sorry that I didn't submit many artwork lately, but I had exams and no ideas :(
now I think that the sun has brought some brilliant ideas in my mind ! 4 sketches are waiting to be colored and more ideas are coming ! ! ! :D

but the bad news is that the wheather in Belgium is too good to sit inside behind a pc :( so lotsa sketches, but no coloring :( aah well... it will take some time but they'll be colored ! muahaha ! ! ! :D
