So, I've had my Intuos3 (6x8) tablet since 2005, I think, and it's been working great. My gallery here wouldn't exist without it. The only trouble I've had with it is that I find myself constantly needing to replace the surface sheet. I keep getting these portions of the sheet where the surface cracks off (like a candy-coating or something :XD:), and they're always in the same place: the spots where I draw the most. I really wanted to like this movie, I really did. Even going in with my expectations lower than when I went to see Prince of Persia, the Avatar fan in me could not let me hate it from the get-go XD.

Before I start to tear it apart, I'd like to mention that it wasn't all terrible. There were a couple things that kept it from being completely unwatchable:

1. Dev Patel as Zuko. He played Zuko in such a way that I could easily imagine his cartoon counterpart doing everything the same way. I just recently finished up the website for Everblue. I meant to post this here yesterday, but it somehow slipped my mind. On the bright side it gave me some time to refine the theme and adjust the comment system. Tearing apart the default ComicPress theme and figuring out different ways to get it looking right was actually really fun XD.

I made a bunch of changes to chapter 1 - got rid of the most glaringly weird art quirks (that I could spot) XD, and added some new colored pages to it. Also, some minor changes to chapter 2 as well.

It's not your standard Dreamworks CG movie -- there are no pop culture references (that I noticed) and it has quite a bit more serious moments than you might be used to from this studio. The movie takes itself seriously without taking itself too seriously, if that makes any sense. The characters, despite being vikings and dragons, feel so much more real than anything I've seen from Dreamworks so far. I think this helps the audience really identify with them, especially Hiccup, and it's the main reason I ended up loving this film.

I just got my first new pair of glasses since freshman year in High School XD. I swear, I'd forgotten what things in the distance actually look like ;_;. But I have a question for people with strong prescriptions... Is there normally a distortion at the edge of the glasses? When I walk around it looks like stuff is getting pulled to the side at the edges of the frames... makes me dizzy XD. Is this normal, or could I get it adjusted?

I love the whole thing! It gets me really pumped for the movie, and I can honestly say I am now completely looking forward to it. The music is perfect (and very reminiscent of the series -- thank you James Newton Howard!), the visuals are excellent (thank you ILM, lol!) and the narrator guy (who sounds like Roku) made it all seem so gosh darn epic XD.

The Western Air Temple was an excellent way to kick off what promises to be one of the most epic finales in cartoon history.

So I finished up the collab with SparkyX, and was gonna get started on Katara's 'Two Sides' pic, when... I got this note...  The title had me freaked out most of all, and I spent a good long while trying to figure out if it was real or not once I got to reading it.  Would've been a pretty cruel prank if it wasn't :XD:.

I've been 20 for about eleven days now and I don't feel any older 8).  I just can't believe that 'teen' suffix is gone after carrying it for so long :XD:.  Now if someone calls me a kid, I can say, "What are you talking about? I've lived for two whole decades."

Phew.  S'been a while since my last journal entry.  Things have been hectic lately, but I think they're finally slowing down to a point where I can focus on DA, ff.net, and school, lol (for the time being).

Anyway, on to the point of this journal XD.  I just upgraded my computer's ram by 1gb.  Any fellow Photoshopper who uses a lot of layers and/or colors their pics at 300dpi will know what I mean when I say -- more ram makes all the difference.  No more clunky CS2, waiting forever for the picture to load when I zoom or scroll.  It's like a whole new Photoshop :).

Update on the Tablet:

After waiting through the tortuous weekend for the post office to open, I finally got my hands on the tablet.  Installation was simple, if a little lengthy, and the programs that came with it are awesome (Photoshop Elements 4.0 and Painter Essentials 3).
