Couldn't think of a better title.

I am starting to hate paper but love pencils. I decided to step away from using my Wacom tablet for drawing for a bit and bought a stack of animation pencils, ransacked a bunch of animation paper from school, and started drawing at home. First of all let me tell you that many months of drawing visually to the screen and going back to drawing traditionally to be able to see what the fuck I'm drawing has made me improve, a lot. I love you pencils, let's get married.

The negative aspect to all of this pencil loving is that I am drowning in paper. Within a couple of days I have around 200 sheets of paper smothering me all over the place. Probably more than 200 sheets of paper.

Most of the stuff I've been sketching lately is a significant improvement from what I have in my gallery, but they're only sketches. Plus, I do not have a scanner at the moment to upload them. Nor do I really want to. I'm gonna try doing some high-quality stuff on bristol board eventually, ink it with a technical pen (that pen was $40, fuck - who sells pens for $40 each, and better question, who is stupid enough to buy them? Me), and upload it and colour it.

Oh and if you think a $40 pen is insane there was a set next to it (of 5 or so) that valued around $300. Pens for the aristocrats. Only the finest pens will do. Perhaps they even shoot lasers but I haven't figured out how to do that yet.

Thanks to the people who purchased the $2 sketches from me.

I've been sketching a picture once every 5-20 mins or so during the evening lately when I don't have school assignments. For an extra push I'm willing to draw anybody's characters or possibly even fan art of stuff for $2 each.

That's $10 for 5 pictures.

Hey again guys.

I recently posted a journal regarding me leaving deviantART for a bit after I judge the RTS Challenge. I take that back.

Sometimes I take a bit of heat regarding some of the stuff I do. Sure I have a lot of people who are like "hey your stuff's cool keep it up", but it always seems that the more negative and destructive comments takes away from all that.

Well not any longer.

I'm in this to improve, I might not be amazing but I'm definitely not bad at what I do. I'm still improving, I have a mind to improve. I have a lot of mentors which I highly respect, some of which have been in the professional industry longer than some of you have been living, and it's something I appreciate. I have a lot of artistic friends, and friends in particular that aren't artists as well.

So why am I letting it get to me? I have organized with a few of my friends who share the same mindset a new deviantART Group that focuses on this premise, professional improvement. Intolerance will not be tolerated.

The ones who are intolerant, who do not share a sense of respect for others, they're the ones that we will be laughing at. They're the ones that won't be getting the jobs and they're the ones that are going to regress and have people disrespect them.

Introducing Corsair - :iconcorsairgroup: A group built on success and differentiation. Just like how a pirate crew might sail on the sea free, there are those that will hate them for what they do. Do they care? No. We're doing what we do and we enjoy it. It's no dice.

That is how long it takes for the average human being to become proficient at something.

10,000 hours.

And that's not 10,000 hours of the same shit over and over, that's 10,000 hours of challenge. 10,000 hours of constantly outdoing yourself. 10,000 hours of going insane, cursing, and hitting things because you keep messing up. To succeed you need to double your failure rate, you need to make mistakes, but you need to figure out how to correct them and make your stuff that much better.

And even after hitting that point of becoming proficient, you're no master. Life is a road of constant improvement.

I'm not online a whole lot lately. I don't talk to a whole lot of people anymore, I don't play games, I don't often go to chatrooms anymore, I don't have time. As for my art, which I'm devoting all of my time to, I'm trying all sorts of new things. In conceptual art, you have to be flexible, you can't really get a style, for your directors will be wanting you to draw all kinds of different things in different methods.

As such, I've been associating with a lot of people lately and learning new methods for my art. I'm the kind of person where nothing is acceptable if it looks the same, which is one reason why I don't often upload anything anymore. I upload something if I feel I improved.

In between 3D and drawing I've been trying to collaborate with a few people or learning to adapt different styles. I've been doing some colour work for some peoples' lineart again for practice, and I'll eventually be posting some of it.

I have this week off, and after that I start semester 2. Character design and life drawing are a couple of the main classes I'm excited for. I'm spending a lot of time preparing my concepts for the course.

I am approaching the end of my first semester at school and I still have some work to do.

As some of you may have noticed I haven't been very active here lately, this is due to me deciding that too much recreational time is distracting me. I have been avoiding videogames, TV, movies, just about everything except for drawing and study. Even my chats are rather limited.

I finally finished my Sable picture that I had conceived a few months ago but never really continued working on until last week. I didn't make it look as good as I was hoping, but I decided it was time to move on to some more work.

I've been getting some questions for what "SUC" is, something which has been revolving around me and my stuff lately. SUC is a universal concept I have been working on for about 6 years that has been growing rapidly on a rather reclusive basis. The majority of my characters, scenarios, environments, designs, and creations are somehow involved with it but not a lot of detail has been put into light regarding it yet.

A couple of people have asked me questions regarding mentoring lately, some of those people being here and elsewhere. Just to put it into perspective, I'm too busy to help people now, I'm sorry. This doesn't mean I won't answer general questions though. In addition, I have created a blog that I might post information on every now and then to help people who are deciding to pursue concept art, but for now I don't have the time.

I have a lot to prepare for for my next semester coming up. If anyone has any suggestions for something I could draw feel free to mention them.

Tomorrow is Friday and I'll be going home again for the weekend and hopefully get some more artwork done. This picture of Sable is really taking a long time to do, and I also have a lot of school work to do this week for drawing class (and probably something else tomorrow too since it's Computer Graphics class and we usually always get a big project).

I've said it before to people and I'll say it again, I love school. I'd rather be at my school than at home. The classes are great, the teachers are great, and hey, we get free stuff. Just within the last few days they gave me a new wacom tablet, a little mannequin thing, and a 500GB external hard drive. We even got our text books for "free" (normally you have to pay for them after paying your tuition, but I guess it was included in the tuition). That's a lot of good stuff for a course like this, especially considering that there's probably more stuff to come as this is only like halfway through the first semester, if that.

Anyway, official contest coming up for the game art lovers. When and what is a secret though, but I encourage everybody who is interested in game development and game art to join in.
