Guess how many hours of sleep I got last night...

ZERO!

Ugh, I've developed this insomnia problem now. Days before I start working... and I'm burning the evening hours. It sucks being in bed, staring at the ceiling, watching the minutes tick by.

So I've developed a plan.

Since I couldn't even get a nap, and I start working next Monday, I'm going to go for a total 31 or more hours of being awake. And I will fight going to sleep. And it will be fun.

And then, around 9 or 10 PM tonight, take a massive herbal dose of genuine Egyptian Chamomile tea. Hopefully this will knock me out to the point where I absolutely pass out (i.e. Time Travel) and wake up at 8:00 AM again tomorrow. And all will be good. Huzzah!

Well, how do you guys deal with those nights where you just can't sleep?

Alright... I don't know what's going on, but now it's serious.

Around 8:30 AM this morning, frustrated with my sleeplessness, I cruised on up into the mountains and hiked for around 7 to 8 miles, also adding to my Autumn photo collection. This lasted for about 3 hours.

I then come back to my place, and then shortly after, headed up to the nearby golf course, shot at the range and squeezed in to do the front 9 with a group, which lasted about 4 hours total.

After realizing that I was not exausted whatsoever from hiking and playing a quick 9, I ran over to the local coffee shop and put on urgent order Harney & Sons "Yellow & Blue". I'll get it sometime next week.

It's now 11:00 PM. I'm still active and wide awake, going on 33 hours of not sleeping. And yes I did drink the Chamomile, whi... ]]>

I got a job!

My efforts finally paid off. I'm so happy! Itâs a customer support job with some development aspects, and Iâll take anything at this point. To be honest, this couldn't have come at a better time! This was the only job I was able to find. No one else is hiring at the moment!

So things will slowly return to normal. Finallyâ¦ My jerb searching is at an end!

Alright, before I begin, I have a few videos Iâd like to share with you guys.

With the hellishness that was New Jersey, someone posted on YouTube this accurate account of âThe Dark Knightâ coaster that I had the unfortunate opportunity to ride. [link] Never mind the mask heâs wearing, everything he says is true, down to the Six Flags staff cutting through the line selling people $5 dollar a cup lemonade. My letter to the park hasnât been responded to yet. Iâll give it another week, and then Iâm putting it up on the net.

Right. At the time of this writing, Tropical Storm Hanna just hit New England, and I am soaking wet. I was outside hiking at the time and the rain justâ¦ wow. It was a sudden wave of water that descended from the sky.

Speaking of hiking, Iâve been doing a lot of it the past week. As Iâm doing absolutely nothing all day, what have I got to lose? Iâve been hiking in the state forests up north and enjoying the serenity and peacefulness of being lost in the woodsâ¦ on a marked trail of course.

In regards with my job hunting, Iâve received some leads. Recruiters are interested in getting my name out there, but I havenât heard anything from most of them since two weeks ago. I was slated for an interview, but the employer still hasnât gotten back to me... ]]>

The following text is a blurting of all my thoughts and experiences since my last entry. It starts off okay, but then goes horribly wrong when I went into the Armpit of America. And for those who donât know what that is, itâs New Jersey. But Iâll get to this in a moment.

Two weeks ago I took a trip up to Boston with my mom who flew in from California, and we had much fun there. Iâve never been to Boston before in my years of living out here, so itâd be an experience Iâd never forget. Being close to New York City for so long, I needed to get to the bottom of the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees rivalry. We stayed in a hotel nearby in Cambridge, with an excellent view of downtown Boston. After figuring out how the underground subway system worked, we toured the entire city, from the Prudential Tower, to the Public park, to the Boston Duck Toursâ¦ which, was interesting to say the least.

Overall, it was a fun time. The city was outstanding not like New York, had endless Samuel Adams beers at the bars, and even visited TD BankNorth Garden and Fenway park. Everyone was friendly, talked with each other as opposed to the non-social New York world Iâm used to. I would like to go back very soon and visit the Sam Adams brewery and see the sights again.

Skip 12 days, last Wednesday a few friends wanted to go to Six Flags New Jersey for the opening of a new coaster down there. And this is where it took a turn for the worse. Now Iâm up in the Hartford Area, and Jackson NJ where Six Flags is located is 3 & 1/2 hours away for me. Meanwhile, Agawam Massachusetts where Six Flags New England is located is only 50 minutes away, and SF New England is much fun and nice to go to. It feels like a -Park-, with that Family fun edge that not a lot of parks have these days.

Work work work while I sing this song.

I would be singing it if my job searching was somewhat productive. But at the moment, there's still absolutely no response to any and all of my applications. I'm starting to feel a bit bummed because of it.

I'm looking everywhere: the classifieds, the Internet job boards, Careerbuilder, even town hall. It sucks. There's nothing in the classifieds for a position I'm looking for. There are possible jobs on the job boards, but again, nothing back from them.

I did contact a head hunter earlier this week and hopefully they can find something for me. When I got out of school two years ago, I had people at least contacting me. Saying, "Hi. What's your name?" Unfortunately, I guess times have changed.

Well in other news, I'm trying to keep busy in these hot summer days. My C# studies are going well, and it bugs me to say this, but C# is fantastic. It does everything Java can do, but better and more efficiently. This will definitely help when I take a shot at constructing web apps. And perhaps I can get some certifications in the downtime.

I've been experimenting with CSS some more. You may have seen this journal box go hay-wire from time to time. Just trying to find a color scheme and layout that works. The code behind it is definitely awkward. I'll make it work!

In art news, absolutely nothing! Isn't that amazing? Mrph... I really need to get going again on a painting, it'll help me get my mind off of job searching. Now where did I put my scrapbook...

Well the state accepted my claim and Iâm collecting unemployment. So far so good, but no new job prospects. Iâve mailed my rÃ©sumÃ© out to quite a few places but nothing yet. I must admit, I was thinking of ways to conserve my budget and maybe make more money perhaps through PC repair calls or maybe even art commissions. But then I remembered that the state wonât like that, because itâd be somewhat illegal. And Iâd have to file all sorts of paperwork, unless I can get a job soon or cancel my benefits.

I just got a new C# web developer book and am going to be studying that for a time. It looks promising to say the least; hopefully I can get something out of it and add it to the list of my qualifications. Iâm making very good progress with VB 2008. These Visual Studio express suites are amazing. I actually enjoy thinking up new algorithms to use, it reminds me of my college days. Now if I could only find a job in this field.

And dA released the next version of their website with v6, and I must say Iâm very impressed. Everything seems to be working more or less better than v5. Much better, faster, and itâs very sleek. The launch was much better than what happened with the v5 launch. Iâm impressed with the development team. You can probably tell I gave them a donation. The message inbox page makes a lot of sense. It kind of reminds me of MS Outlook and the way its sorting messages. And Iâm happy that it stood up against the tides of time.

And so the job searching begins. Itâs been an interesting two weeks, but nevertheless Iâve been trying to keep busy every day.

Iâve applied to a couple jobs that match my skill set, and I havenât heard anything back yet. I hope I do soon. I also had my unemployment hearing a few days ago. Hopefully itâll go though and I can collect whilst not working.

I admit. Iâm scared. The economy is... well, itâs really bad right now. I mean, I wound up getting a lot of things when I picked up this new job. A new house, new car, new cell phone plan, lots of new stuff. The jobâs gone now, and itâs like Iâm completely cut loose. Iâm trying to do stuff to get my mind off of it and hopefully my perseverance at job searching pays off soon.

Iâve actually picked up golfing again, and went up to a driving range nearby to hit golf balls to try and take my mind off of things. I was surprised to see that my drive actually improvedâ¦ by not doing it for six or seven years. I then went out and played 18 around the course and did quite well.

Like an idiot though I decided to carry the golf bag rather than put it in a pull-cart. And on an 87F degree day, your game dies around the 13th hole. So I learned something. Donât carry the bag, walk 6+ miles and attempt to play well in hot weather. You canât.

Iâm also opening up my Microsoft .NET developer books and making freelance software, trying to keep current with the Frameworks they keep putting out.

And lastly, I finished a contest prize painting for one of the contestants. It took me a little longer than usual to make it since I lost my job whilst painting it up.

Speaking of which, maybe I can find a graphic designer job. Iâm somewhat competent with Photoshop. Maybe I could make graphics and stuff with a developer background. Or maybe I should get acquainted with Flash and make movies or graphics. Eh, weâll see.

The sun decided to say Hi and warm up the lands around here to about 105 F a couple of days ago. So I took refuge downstairs and into the basement to stay cool. Not even the A/C unit was doing much justice to the sudden swell of heat around here.

One of the contest prize paintings IÂm making progress with. The whole canvas is covered in sketch marks, measurements, and itÂs a blob of lines, but itÂs slowly coming together. ItÂs weird that this painting looks more like a building floor plan than actually invoking the artistic process.

But other than that, where should I start? LifeÂs been rough the past few months. The impact of it was delayed but I think itÂs finally caught up. My big question is, where did everyone go?

When I was in college, it was an interesting time. I met a lot of new people, had great outings and parties, learned how to perform and get started on my career path, so on and so on. I even joined this site when I was in college and started making cartoons and paintings for fun. Well now that IÂm out of college and executing the first steps of my career, IÂve done a lot since my Graduation day. I wound up moving into a new house up relatively close to where my college days were spent, new car, new job, and new responsibilities ...lots of new things. But more importantly, I was hoping to see old friends and to keep living the life of being youthful and full of energy. It only lasts so long.

IÂm finding that most of the people I used to talk to every now and then, link up with, have fun times with, even if it was online, phone text, calling, or actually meeting up in person, is getting less and less as the days go on. There have been people IÂve been trying to get a hold of for months and itÂs like theyÂve vanished. What happened? Even online, even here on this site, more and more people I knew from good past times are now just... not there.

I understand that times can get busy. I can relate; I had an interesting two months of a quick life change. But I mean, I always tried keep talking with friends and relatives. But those days are quickly ebbing away into a receding pool of distant memories. Where has everyone gone to?

Well Friday evening was an eventful evening. The power supply in my computer exploded! Well, didn't "explode" explode, but the Transformer in it popped and smelled like burnt plastic. My reaction to this happening was, weird. I didn't gasp, or feel that gut-dropping feeling in my stomach. I instead, stared in disbelief at my computer and said out loud: ".............well there goes my refund."

So, to take matters into my own hands, I went off to Best Buy to get a replacement, fearing that more than just the Power Supply broke and I would need to get a whole new machine. So, I found a good replacement, screwed it into place, went to go plug it into my boardÂ It didnÂt fit. After some maniacal laughter, I quickly ran over to the local computer part store, to find a converter. Came back, put the converter into place, plugged it in, turned on the power andÂ it worked.

So IÂm back up and running, but IÂd have to seriously take this as an omen or something that I soon need think about building a new computer. ItÂs starting to show its age and I want the best, being the enthusiast I am and all. ItÂd make the jump to Vista much easier.

And in other news, gasoline in my area is now over $4.00/gallon. Wheee. IÂve been asking this question for a while, but where did the Electric car go? And "ItÂs not efficientÂ isn't an excuse, because the gasoline cars back in the day when they first came out werenÂt efficient either. I mean, whereÂs the research and development to make efficient cars that run on something other than gas? ItÂs going over $5.00/gal by the end of the year. IÂm convinced. Oil has been going up, and upÂ. and up. And itÂs not going to go back down. I mean, this is it. The days of $1.00/gal, or $2.00/gal, Âeven $3.00/gal are over.

Not much happening over the last few weeks, other than bushwhacking through woods, and getting lost... for fun!

I don't understand bushwhacking hiking. I mean, I understand what it is, but I don't understand why people do it. You find a trail, go hiking, but then turn a sharp right into some bushes and then get lost. And then the challenge is to get un-lost and find the car, which is a lot harder than it sounds. And all your armed with is a compass and a topographical map. Being lost is fun.

But I digress. Hiking is fun, when of course you're on a marked trail and you have plenty of direction signs along the way. Speaking of which, I want to go with soon and tear up the mountains nearby.

And lastly, after going on and on about the cell phone last entry, I got the cell phone. Why? Because I needed one and decided oh what the hell, why not. But then I get a letter in the mail from Verizon, and in the first sentence it said "Thank you for your continued loyalty to Verizon..." Blargh!

I found out something quite peculiar yesterday. The whole idea of disposable cell phones, while keeping us trapped in is... interesting.

One Xmas some two years ago, I got a cell phone as an Xmas gift. And I was happy, and it was good. It was one of the first LG phones equipped with a Camera at the time, and I took pictures and talked on the phone and began to see a couple things. One, how great it was not to rely on a pay-phone anymore to reach anyone at a moment's notice. Two, everyone was getting them. Three, how fragile they were. And four, just how frighteningly dependent we're all getting on these cell phones.

Fast forward to yesterday. I walk into a Verizon store nearby and say "I need a new phone. Unfortunately from using the phone normally, one of the joints broke from all the flip action and now the phone is hanging together by a single power wire, the 6 key won't press in all the way, the front marquee panel on the top cracked twice. From normal use. And no, I never dropped it, or dunked it in water.

A salesmen then asks me the typical "What's your number, zip, Social, etc etc." What he says next made me raise an eyebrow.

"Oh, yeah. You're due for a new phone."

Time stood still for a moment as I attempted to analyze that sentence. I'm due for a new phone. So, after two years, I'm expected to hand my phone in, get another one, and get trapped and hooked into ANOTHER two year contract with a ridiculously high bail-out fee if I want to quit. And then after this two year contract, the phone will break by this time, and as a faithful consumer, I'll ask for another phone and be suckered into another two year contract. Nice...

Some may know that reporter Lirpa Sloof reported that last year, the G-O-V was planning was take Tron off the shelves because they filmed the movie in a top secret lab. We now know that this reporter was a 'bit off' with her reporting.

With that said, today is an evil but fun day indeed. It's 7:00 AM and I already got someone fooled. No prank, just sheer confusion. The Fools of April is at hand!

Hopefully no one would go as far to do the Diet Coke and Mentos prank. That's... just sadistic.

Break out the Claritin, because spring is here! Flowers are blooming here, and Easter Chocolate is abundant everywhere.

Well what's new. I didn't pass that exam last week. Kind of bummed out about it. I didn't pass by two questions. Out of 100.... two questions. Passing was 80% too. Well... I'll have to try again in a few weeks and take another shot at it.

I plan on doing a lot of hiking around in the hills and mountains, no more staying 'warm' inside. Winter is OVA! I've got to get a camera. dSLR, Woo!

My B-Day is coming up. Blargh.

Oh, and the contest I have up is still going. There are no entries yet, but still a lot of time left!

I found a new painting program! Corel Painter X. I've been practicing with it and I think I may start using it from now on. I'm getting a big wave of memories from art in college. I've been practicing with foliage, textures, blending, different styles of paint and brushes, and of course, cartooning. [link]

The Acrylics paints and brushes are literally, verbatim. The program just nails exactly how to handle them. Oils were interesting. I can definitely see how oils in real life are hard to use because the program blots and smudges the pigments like you'd expect. So I'm going to be practicing a lot on this. Hopefully I can get a finished piece sometime soon.

Hey the 6K mark is here! Thanks everyone!

Well what's going on with me in this world as of late? For starters, my back blew out. Wednesday we had an absolute horrible snow storm. The kind where it snows two inches, then freezing sleet rain pebbles... then rain. It was so heavy to try and dig out of the way, and I guess one shovel scoop was too much and my lower back decided to say ouch.

So needless to say, I'm loaded up on IBUProfin Advil medicine and now it feels all fuzzy. Yes, fuzzy. IBUProfin has magical properties. The ability to mask up pain with a fuzzy feeling.

And I have a ski trip tomorrow! Weather withstanding, I'm ready to rip up the slopes again! I'm going to tackle those black diamonds before the season's up.

Not much else happening, I'm just keeping things on the up and up as crazy as possible.

Right! ...or left? Hmm.

Anyways, things have been looking on the up and up! For one, I think I finally got the hang of a standard. I've been at it for a week now and so far, little to no problems have come up. I'm just amazed how much more control over the car I have. For example, on my way to work today, I had a huge Mazda 3 pull up next to me in my small Corolla. And as the light turned green, the Mazda's engine roared to life, while my little car was faster and had more acceleration off the line.

Why am I talking about street racing? I get a Toyota and I'm already talking about street racing. Hehe, no no I've already promised myself I'll never 'upgrade' my car with anything. I mean, maybe some performance enhancers (new filters, little things that get one or two more BHP here and there), but that's it. No.... neon lights or... ]]>

This picture with its nice blend of Blues and Yellows, along with a tribute to 2001: A Space Odyssey captured the essence of Earth Day very well. The message is blunt, but precise and to the point. The textures in the paints were very nice too.

Second Place: "Change is Everything" by *KashaPaw - [link]

I liked the night sky with the flowing ocean background. Also, the character holding the globe in her hands was a good touch.

Every year, we pass this little known holiday here in the US and A. [link] Earth Day as some of us know, is a day designated by the Government as a day to reflect and act on environmental progress.

Every year however, we cruise right on by the day, and nothing... ever really happens. No reflections, no acting, nothing really happens, it's a "take a breath of fresh air" day I suppose.

I want that to change. Earth Day shouldn't be about Environmental government policy. It should be about we people sharing joy and happiness on this planet Earth. Earth day should we a celebration of being alive. Living life to the fullest, and enjoying our limited time here on Earth. We only have each other and this big rock of ours, we should celebrate and cherish this day as Spring blooms and flourishes as the landscape comes alive with life once more. This day should be our understanding of life and being, and how we live with other life and the world around us.

I bought the car.

I finally took the plunge and did it. I got a Corolla. A 2008, new, Corolla CE. And I'm... literally still partially paralyzed from it.

Talk about impulse buying right?

I went into a different dealership this time, looked at the cars... found a nice, 2008 CE, tan color and in Standard. And... well I bought it. Apparently that Race '07 training really paid off because I had absolutely no problems with the shifter this time.

And I think it was a case of "Right place at the right time". Next monday, Toyota is coming out with the new 2009 Corolla and Matrix line of cars. And they put a (huge) rebate on the 2008 cars because they wanted to get rid of them to make way for the new cars. That's a situtation I like to call a "Snipe!" . So I pounced on the car and said I want it.

Before I knew it, I was selling my soul awa-- I mean, signing the papers, and when all was said and done, I was approved. I pick up the car on Wednesday. I still can't believe it. It's so... abrupt, like, I've been planning to get a car for months now, and all of a sudden it's done, bought and over with!

So, here's hoping... ]]>

So for the past few days, I've been really worried about the state of my van. It's old (11 years), 140,000+ miles on it, and this New England freezing weather isn't doing it any justice. The van is I think on it's last legs as I try to postpone its inevitable demise through putting more liquids into it every other 3rd day.

So I think it's time. I need a new car.

And I think I've picked out the right kind of sensible car to get in these great, fantastic, economic times.
Hehe, no seriously, the right kind of sensible car to get in these chaotic downward death spiral economic times. And that would be the Toyota Corolla. It's the most popular car in the world, (Camry #1 in the US) and I have to admit, after test driving it at the local Toyota dealership... I'm blown away at how robust, and solid of a car it is. I want one!

And I do have a story to tell about my endeavor at the dealership, so take a seat because this was... embarrassing on my part until I found out it wasn't me. I walk into the dealership, and say I'm interested in a car to one of the salesman. We talk about pricing and what not, and then the time comes to take one out for a spin. I got into a red 2005 Used Corolla LE (60,000+ miles), and it was solid. A very nice... ]]>

Two weeks in and so far, I haven't broken any bones yet. Sounds like this year is going to be a good one.

Ah, I'm talking about my new year's resoultion on skiing. I'm taking the plunge and learnins me some skiing. So far I've gone twice and I think I'm finally getting the hang of it! The second time I went I took lessons to perfect my newbieness and I "Graduated level 1". So that's good I guess

Which yes, the first time I took No lessons and was a crazy fool on the hills. But I learned a lot.

I basically broke down what I wanted to do and learn through the whole experience to try and get up to speed as quickly as possible and so far it's working very good.

Well, now that Christmas is over, the aftermath follows into a new year. I hope everyone's Xmas celebrations, parties, family gatherings and whatnot were great. My Xmas was more or less... not so good. In fact, it was absolutely awful.

Where to begin? Meh, well I don't want to get into specifics, but basically, there was a heavy and burdening reminiscence of all these... grudges amongst everyone at the place I went to. Everyone was pissed off at everyone else for some reason or another, there were more fights than days I stayed there, nothing worked the way it should have and everyone was determined and hell-bent to one-up everyone else. There was nothing jolly or happy about it. I even had to wind up arguing with almost everyone because that pent-up rage was so thick throughout the house that it started to spill onto me. Xmas day wasn't so much better either. Yeah, I mean we exchanged gifts and there was some period of I guess... forgiveness... but then afterwords it was back to the same fighting, same arguing, same thick air of oppression and... and dominance of controlling everything.

I hate to say this, but the best gift I had during this Xmas season is that I not only had to stay for just three days, but then leave and go back to work the day after Xmas. I was actually happy this past Wednesday to sit back... at my desk, work on projects... and leave that mess behind.

Here's a New Year's resolution: I shouldn't spend next Xmas or the next Xmas after that there, and go somewhere else. That one should be easy to fulfill.

Wow, New England got decked with a foot of snow. I forgot how hard it was to dig my car out of these huge storms

Well nothing happening otherwise. Getting my Xmas sherpering done, and making arts during my lunch breaks from my job. Speaking of which, I'm about 2 pages complete with my cartoon strip I'm making, and also planning an Xmas picture. Kind of like a Secret Santa, but the recipient somewhat knows.

The strip is turning into a huge... huge project. It was meant to be 6 to 8 cells, but now I'm going on Cell #17 with about 20 more to go. I'm wondering if I should release the strip all together, or release it as I'm done with each page, but I'm not sure if people would have any idea what's going on if I did.

I also updated my webcam picture with something ridiculous.

Well how's the Xmas season treating everyone? There's one week to go, and then it's over! And then on to New Years. 2008!

This year, I'm going to make sure I get all my shopping done before December... 5th or something. It gets way too hectic from the 12th to the 25th. I'm doing all of my shopping on Amazon, and wrapping it early. That way, when there's rush hour on Xmas eve, I'll be drinking a splash of tea, reading a book next to the electric radiating heater, and make some arts too, in a relaxed and sane state.

But what's new with me? My friend and I made the jump to an Acer widescreen 22" flat screen. I was originally planning on getting another 15" Flat screen to get a dual panel setup, but this wide-screen is amazing. Absolutely amazing. Everything... fits! Movies fit, no more black bars, webpages no longer clump up with multi-line text. The dA interface is very nice now. Adobe programs, I can now open up a lot of pictures at once and not overlap or minimize anything. It is so worth it. A well earned (early) Xmas gift for ourselves. I can't recommend this enough, if you're considering getting a flat panel, get a widescreen. They're getting very affordable.

Progress is being made on my comic strip. I'm practicing overlapping cells and speech balloons to create that really goofy kind of feel to it. However the more I do it, I'm starting to wonder if Photoshop is really the tool to use. My brother keeps telling me "Use Illustrator!", and I'm starting to wonder if he's right. I'll have to practice with it in the weeks ahead... but after I'm done with my strip.

That's the name my new job dubbed the day after Thanksgiving. "Diet Day". I'm not one to complain, it's a paid vacation day!

Well, what's new? I've got a few comic strips planned that I'm making right now. I miss doing them, and they were a blast to make. So you know what? I'm making them again! I will not be stopped!

And above all, things are going good at my new haus. You know, it's weird to finally be... in Charge. Even though I'm renting it at the moment, all the responsibility is there. I'm paying my own bills! ....I admit it's unusual to be happy about paying bills, but I'm taking responsibility for it. Everything is finally working out. ^_^ My job is taking off and everyone more or less likes me and the work I'm producing. After my initial probationary period is over and if they keep me on board, I'm made.

What else? I've been making an effort to get outdoors and hike every Sunday. Central Connecticut and Southern Massachusetts, there are hills, mountains, trails... Wilderness! I'm having a blast. So far I can average about 7-8 miles of walking on crazy terrain more or less non-stop. Maybe with an occasional rest or two mind you But I'm getting better. Speaking of which, I'm taking a lot of photographs with my camera, which... I don't have the camera PC link-up wire for . There are some fantast... ]]>

Hey! The 5,000 mark has come! Thank you all for checking out my small corner of the net.

Today I've coined a new term in the world of medicine. Temporary Arachnophobia. The reason for this being is simple. With every old house, what's the one inescapable thing one must do when cleaning up the place? ...Spider webs! Ugh. Yesterday I had the courage to head down into the basement, armed with my vacuum, and literally, reclaimed that basement. There were an ungodly amount of spiders down there, with all the webs around to clean up. And I cleaned it all up. I couldn't talk straight afterwords for a good 10 minutes. And I'm thinking of all the houses around my neighborhood who put up those cotton web decorations on their house for Halloween.

....If only they knew... >_<

Well with that said, the haus is clean! For now... *cue dramatic music*

I normally never had a problem with spiders, but after that horror I saw, It'll take about another week to recover.

Other than that, I've been hiking all over the place ever since I moved up here. The last place I tackled was Bear Mountain. The tallest point in Connecticut. That word pretty much sums up where I've been these past few months. Wow did my life change. Where to start?

I got a new jorb! I'm now a "Product Developer" and I am eager to start working and making stuff. And as a (great) consequence, well, I'm out of my old house and I finally made the move on my own into a haus! I'm now residing in a small quaint townhouse in New England in the woods. And I'm liking every minute of it! Quiet and out of the city. For instance, I live about a minute away from this place: [link]

...You know at first, I didn't really want to leave the city because I guess I got used to the metropolitan concrete jungle where I used to be. But actually, I kind of like how there -aren't- any more huge buses, trains, rush hours, traffic, highways...

So now I'm a bachelor! Living life up to the fullest, beer in the fridge, (Ha, I wish ) and among other things, getting back up to speed on stuffs.

Halloween is right around the corner, so I'm going to meet the neighbors and see if I can deck the house out with a few things, maybe a pumpkin, and of course candy.

Study study study study. That's what I've been doing for the past month or so. I'm studying for an upcoming Java programming certification exam that's happening in September. I really want to do good at this. I'm almost finished studying my resources and coding endless programs one after the other. Some programs I'm doing are fascinating and actually have a real purpose. Directory listings, making small client/server programs, etc etc. Others are for general knowledge of "..ohh that's how it works!"

One, this will help my carrer advancement immensely, and two, better job offers. So in light of my future planning and hectic cramming, I've, well... vanished from dA and other places I used to visit frequently. But I'm still here, poking my head in from time to time seeing what's happening.

Also, all my drawings have been effectively put on hold for the time being. Afterwords I can get creative again, but right now it's crunch time. Some of you may remember a wallpaper I made a while ago. Code 4 Ever. Good stuff it is. But in a nutshell, it's exactly how my mind would look, with code floating around in endless non-sensical thought.

So I'm here, but I'm going to make sure I do good on this exam. Cheers for now.

My brother gave me quite the scare the other week. He's almost fully recovered and he'll be fine within the next week or two. I was in a slump through the last week, not really doing much of anything, really worrying about him. Now that he's better, I want to get back on track and continue studying for my exam, continue making images and get back into the community scene.

I'm also furthering my plans with moving out, lining up a place and getting some quotes. The day of my departure is at hand!

Quite a few peoples (in-person and online) have asked me how I color my pictures. I'm playing around with the idea if I can put together perhaps a small tutorial on how I do it. I'd be more than happy to share. Would anyone be interested?

Also, I'm currently sketching out a collaboration, and I will be making a picture to go with a book cover for a novel a person is writing. To do a picture for a book is fantastic. I hope to get it done soon.

Well, life took a turn for the bad this past week.

My brother was diagnosed with severe appendicitus and had to be rushed into emergency room on Tuesday. Most may think getting an appendix removed is a simple in and out procedure. Well, it ruptured for my brother. He's been feeling really... really bad. I visited him in the hospital every day until he got out last Friday evening. He's doing better but he has to go in today and tomorrow for constant doctors appointments to monitor his recovery.

Long story short, he's not in good shape. I feel kind of bad for him. Hopefully he'll be better soon.

So in addition with other things that went on in the past week, I've been a mess. No inspiration to make anything or try new stuff...

Not much going on in my life unfortunately, but perhaps it's just a blessing in disguise. Just some of the boring things I've been up to, to jut some things down as a recollection of previous events.

I'm going to try and get some computing and developing certifications. I was planning on doing the GRE exam to go onto a Masters degree, but... you know, I thought about it. To take the GRE now, when I'm trying to get a loan paid off and move out of my house... it doesn't make any sense. I'd rather establish myself, get a stable place to live, get situated... then go for a Masters degree.

Speaking of which, I know a while ago I said I was moving out, but I was too over-eager, and I wasn't ready for it yet. But now with he openings that are coming up, that dream may become a reality soon!

Some of the certifications I was planning was the Sun Developer Java Associates (SCJP) Certification. It's just basically to show that I know how to use the Java language and do stuff with it. Yes I'm a computer idiot (nerd/geek/spaz), but I'm gonna gets a good jaerb someday with these certs! Plus, I love doing it, I like coding and creating stuff, as well as making arts. <... ]]>

Ah, 95F weather, humid as hell with a Dew Point of 75F, with a really ugly Thunderstorm tonight... the New England summer must be here! Even the weather man said today that it was going to be _(quote) a juicy day today. Fun stuff!

Not much going on as of recently, although in art news I need to pick up a scanner soon. My scrapbook is filling up with all sorts of good things I want to get into a canvas and color them up. So maybe I'll get a flatbed scanner or an all-in-one printer soon.

Also, I want to share with peoples a Firefox plugin I found for deviantArt. It's called DeviantTIDY. --> [link]

Time just goes too fast to track these days. Now in the full blown summer up here in New England. Crazy thunderstorms every three days or so, good sunny days... It's Summer!

Some art news! Today is ~Sejuay's B-day! I'm almost done with making a b-day picture for the occasion, so tonight I'll have the lines done, and hopefully colored. So go check him and his page out and wish him a great b-day.

Also, two contests I want to try my hand at. One of which is *RedDrgn's tattoo contest. I'm planning a minimalistic kind of outline design, although I've never done a tattoo design before. I may draw and color up a real arm, and then put the tattoo over it to see if it would work. Should prove to be quite a learning... ]]>

This journal entry unfortunately is going to be more of a notice, rather than a usual journal entry.

I have had... zero time to do anything as of late. Work has completely taken over my free time for the past two weeks, and I see no end in sight. Basically, the workplace is having staff issues at the moment, where someone left a while back and I took on most of her tasks, one of the developers doesn't usually show up on the days he's supposed to come in, and one of my supervisors just had surgery.

So I'm basically doing a 3-4 person job. I've been working very hard, I'm genuinely frustrated that I've made no progress with any arts of any kind (save the random doodles I'm doing during the small lunch break I have).

Usually these surges of work last only a few days and then it returns to normal. However, now I'm on day 12 of just non-stop work. So as of now, I've taken on the responsibility of answering all the phone calls, doing database and server management, directing calls, phone tech support, email tech support, remote control support... etc etc.

I'm exhausted when I come back home, but then I turn on my computer, remote into our servers an... ]]>

I forgot how much I hate spring. I have been literally sniffling and sneezing every minute, and scratching my eyes and throat to the point where I can't sleep at night. Ugh, the hell with pollen and allergies! I've been taking some Chlor-Trimeton antihistamine medicine and so far, I can breathe again but it's been knocking me out during the day and I don't feel as alert as I should. Also I'm one of the few people where Claritin doesn't work. That may be a good thing because it seems to me these days that Claritin is 300% more expensive than all the other medicines. *grumble grumble* >_>

Work is starting to just get hectic and over the top in some cases. I'm completely burned out by the end of the day. It's also pushing my multi-tasking skills to the utter maximum. I miss the quiet days we used to have.

In other news, it's my father's B-day today. Hopefully what I'll get for him as a gift will suffice. He's not one for gifts unfortunately.

Well that's basically how the past few days have been for me. A pile of blegh...!

On the flip side, tomorrow I head up and see loud race cars at LimeRock! That will... ]]>

Well it finally happened. One of my relatives raided my belongings and found my scrap book, filled with nonsensical cartoons, references, real places, characters and things. Why they raided my belongings I don't know. In any case, he came up to me and said "Is this yours?" And I said, "...........whheerre did you get that? ". He nonchalantly replied, "Your closet! "

Well after giving them a yelling about how I really didn't appreciate it, they said that they never knew I would be the last person that they would suspect who could make arts and stuff. And now after seeing my work, they want me to make cartoon versions of them. I really didn't want my relatives finding it. And I've got mixed feelings about them finding out about my dA page.

In any case, things are going well. I'm going to head up to Limerock raceway next week where they're holding a FIA racing event with GTR cars. Limerock is a rough course given it's simplicity, so hopefully it'll be a good event.

So I've been thinking after my last poll about submitting deviations. [link] Btw, thanks again to all who responded!

Given, I don't have a lot of time to draw arts and stuff. I work, come home, make some food, do more work at home, pay bills, and then have roughly two hours before I have to go to sleep and be ready for the next day. Also, weekends aren't forgiving either. Usually I'm busy around the house, or cleaning stuff up, or all sorts of other great and fun things (like pumping water out of my basement!! >_> ). So I've been thinking on how to speed up and make stuff without going for a month without submitting or doing anything.

People expressed interest in me continuously posting work and seeing things develop as time goes on, others suggested don't submit anything until it's 100% complete. And I've tried both ways. I loaded up scraps of my DevID, but I didn't show any progress on Valenix. Honestly... I think Valenix could have been a little better had I shown some scraps or progress.

QUESTION: _{Would you guys be okay if I submit a deviation of my incomplete work, but then continuously upload my work into that same deviation?

Yes! It'll be interesting to see.

Sure! But make sure there is progress between uploads. Don't draw one line and upload it.

Ah, that number is going to haunt me for the next year. The reason for this being, that's my new age. I'm getting too olds!

Yes, today on U.S. Earth Day, I become 23 years of age. I made a very hidden and obscure message in my last journal. I'm not sure if most people were able to pick it up. Just my sneaky way of saying my day of Burf was coming.

With that said, spring starts today! And the weather in New England is fantastic. I'm out for the day today, probably going around the city or going up into the woods to hike around, and then for a night out of fun! So I shall catch you all on the flipside.

I've finally recovered from the Nor'Easter that struck New England last weekend. The storm flooded parts of my basement and I spent most of Sunday pumping out water. I was finishing up my last pic and starting on a birthday pic for a good friend, when I went to go do my laundry, noticed about an inch of water everywhere.

It was ridiculous! My father for one, kept badgering us over and over again on Saturday to get prepared for the storm that was going to hit. I got batteries, food, water, you know, just in case the power died or something. Well, my dad forgot to turn on the pump we set up outside... therefore water finally seeped in and started to flood the floor. I spent most of the time with a Green machine vacuum and shop vacuum cleaning up all the water. Hooray for badgering other people but them forgetting things themselves... Ugh, it is never fun to pump water out of a house.

The storm was crazy though. The creek in our yard turned into a raging river and started to flood my neighbors lawns down the hill. The storm also flooded most parts of the city here as well as the entire coastline. I called my neighbors up to help them if they needed aid, but it seems that they were okay thank goodness. I also heard about three or four trees fall over. I'm thankful they didn't fall on anything though. I tried calling some of my friends who were up north near my school, but I was unable to get in touch with them. I hope they're okay.

So, with Sunday, now only a memory, things are back to the way they were. Crazy work, crazy life, crazy phone calls.

I finished my new character. I'm quite happy with it. So with that said, I've decided to redesign my cartoon character. (Not the Anthro character). The cartoon is too... eh, Invader Zimmish. Well, at the time the character was made, I -was- doing IZ pictures. So I'm looking for a new kind of direction to take the character, more dragonish in appearance.

I'm now doing a B-day pic, and I'm going to try my best to powerhouse it and... ]]>

Mid-april is here! Spring hasn't decided if it's here or not, and so far there's been no April showers, only April snow. I'm not entirely sure if April snow brings may flowers, but we shall see.

Long story short, I haven't had a lot of time as of late to make arts. But I'm making every attempt to do so! I've only been able to get 20 to 30 minute sessions in and develop my upcoming picture, but then I get bogged down with work. I'll get a call on my cell phone or get an email that a website from my jorb is down, and that I have to remote control into it and fix it, or do some other administrative work.

Not only that, but I, err... _{have to do my taxes >_>} Ugh.

My upcoming picture is going good. I think the main reason why it's taking so long is because I'm now trying to develop a sense of blending different colors. I'm going to try the 'digital paint' I used on my last picture, and combine it with now other colors rather than darker or brighter variations of the same colors. Also, I'm going to try and get rid of black lines for this one.
