Hello there,

No one knows much about me so here's a little description of me and my "photography".

I grew up and still reside in the Cambridgeshire fens. I got interested in photography purely because it was a course at the sixth form I was going to so decided to apply. I started combining photography with my other interest of watching local bands and starting taking photographs of my mates bands and whoever else they were playing with, alongside any projects that I had to do at uni.

I finished sixth form with some basic knowledge of photography and still shot my mates bands, and slowly started getting interest in portraits when I eventually went to uni. I started reading a lot of Vice Magazine and was interested in the kinda photography done in that, except I'm too lazy and got too glossy a camera I suppose. I also did a bit of temping for an events photography thing but it was terrible so decided to just stick to little bits of pieces of work here and there.

These days I like doing bands and portraits the most, a bit more arty than usual these days too.

Gear for people who are interested -

Canon 40D
Canon 300X
50mm 1.8
17-85mm f/4-5.6
28-90mm f/4-5.6
0.7x Wide Angle converter
whatever tripod and filters i can lay my hands on

also sometimes I can borrow peoples lomo, medium format and have access to large format stuff as well.

David

I also thought I'd better make an update, as the last one was on Christmas day.

I haven't updated because I haven't done anything photography related at all recently. Jessops have stopped doing uprated films - What the HELL is up with that?! So I've got a colour 200ISO which is uprated to 1600 and I can't get it done unless I find somewhere else or send them off to a pro lab, which I can't afford!

Good lord.

Oh well. I didn't get that Photography tech job. I got a job in a pub for 3 weeks, and the quit, then I just got a job working in the stores of some place. I don't hate the first day there so all is well.

Plus I have a band! A real one! We've got a gig in May, playing with the mighty Zeroscape, who are very good indeed.
Probably even free. No one should sell my stuff for me.

Prints accounts and subscriptions are balls. I'm purely going to use this for free. Why? Because if it suddenly became paid only, I'd have to nip over to peoples houses and empty the contents of my bowels on doorsteps.

And I've got a good one brewing.

But no one looks at my work anyway. Why should I care? I'm getting offers to take photographs all the time, I'm doing a music video for a band who are supporting The Vandals and Sympony X in about a months time, and I've got University in a year. And many many more shits.

If you read this then you are probably good or bad. If you feel compelled to tell me I am wrong, then you are going to be shot.

Another DeviantArt member can't take the comments I gave her, haha. Apparently she lives near Cambridge. There's so many emos and goths around this place who think they're so good at art.. I'd like to get them into a darkroom and do what I do. Sometimes people don't know they are born with their digital balls sometimes.

Maybe I've been reading too much Ross Halfin [link] - Quite possibly the best band photographer ever. And quiet possibly the most angry. Or "brutally honest" as I'd like to call it. Oh well, I'm safe in the knowledge I'm learning trade which I could use in future.

She'll probably get a load of friends to post on this and cuss me hard, like a 'friend' of hers added me to MSN and started to threaten me there. Me and the singer for Rapture (yes, you've had a run in with FAME!) just cussed them back. Oh well.

anyway, I've got an exam coming up, but I should have some shots of the acoustic DieAwayFromMe gig coming up soon.

I got myself a new camera - The new Canon EOS, the 300X. Need to get shooting...

Been asked to shoot some more bands, turns out band photography isn't really on everyone hot this summer list, so I'm well in. Hurrah. Even if most Local Band photos are done "by some mate I know who does Photography". Now I'm just another one of them.

Anyone, someone in photography said that the photo of Rosie I've done makes her look unattractive. I think it looks great, but that's because I'm not an arty twat I suppose.

Just about to send off some negs to someone. Hurrah. Laters.

So you won't see anything amazingly new soon. I'll keep posting some stuff up if i dig some vintage stuff out, but i now need a new camera.

On a better note I've been offered a photoshoot.

Hey people. Cruel To Be Kind Productions is a name for various ideas of mine, But mainly I'm a photographer in the Cambridgeshire (England) area. I'm studying at Long Road Sixth Form (Media Studies, Film Studies, Photography and English - tho i might drop English because it's hassle).

I photograph bands quite a lot but I've been doing quite a lot of portrait's recently for a A2 (2nd Year) piece. There are some films of mine online at [link] (namely Sisyphus, Eye Spy, Lair Clive and the music video R1-25).

Couple of friends of mine are working on a ZOMBIE FILM too. Because we're fucking great.

Hope you lot enjoy my work. When I get around to it, I'll scan some more band photography and some portraiture stuff.
