The photo


Was taken at about 7.15am on Kudle Beach, Gokarna, India when I was having breakfast.
I'd actually spotted the bull wander past the previous morning and had to wait 24 hours for him to wander past again so I could get the shot. And, being as I took the shot with an ordinary compact film camera, I didn't even know how good it was until the photo was developed back in the UK several months later.

I've finally gotten round to cleaning the window, It turns out that what I was seeing everyday wasn't in fact the stygian figure of death beckoning to me from afar, but actually an old man flipping the bird.

Now you're looking incredulous. But I swear it's true. You want proof? Ok. Well then, earlier today I was eating alphabet soup, minding my own business, musing upon this and that, y'know, eating, like you do.... when all of a sudden there was turmoil and a commotion in my bowl. The soup started to swirl about and the letters started to form into something approaching words.

Well I was shocked, as you can imagine. Now at first there weren't any actual, real discernable words. But then, slowly but surely recognisable chains of words became visible. Now I was a little too shocked to take detailed notes or anything but I think I got the basic gist of the message. It said;

"OooooOOOOOooooooooOo"

Which, as I'm sure you'll agree, is a little bit creepy.

I wish I knew what it meant.

What meaning am I expected to take from this message?

Or who it was that can harness the unseen powers of the universe enough to manipulate the very consomme in our bowls...

On top of my head.

Now I'm wondering if this is revenge for the 'accidental' tree chopping down incident of a few days ago. Has word got out into the apple tree community? Was this just a warning, a glimpse of things to come perhaps? Am I to expect larger things to fall on me? Will trees be storing up spiky things, dead creatures and general ick to pelt me with? Should I invest in some form of head protection? Am I insured against tree attack?

And, whilst we're on the subject of things falling. Does gravity get stronger in hot weather? Only I've noticed a spate of objects teetering, dropping and generally scattering across floors recently. It's getting so that I daren't touch anything lest it falls on the floor. It's either that I'm more prone to being a clumsy fuck when it's too hot to think. Or, the more likely option, the hot weather brings out all the gravity goblins from their hiding places, bent on gleeful destruction and evil mirth.

Just a few thoughts for your perusal. I await your responses with baited breath (and, when I get back from my next mission to the kitchen, tea).

Yesterday, whilst happily minding my own business, innocently sawing through the trunk of a nearby tree. I was attacked. Without provocation or the slightest warning, an apple tree fell on me!!

If trees are starting to attack the hapless and innocent then everyone should be warned. We should write letters, leaflet shopping centres/malls, make public appeals on telly. Let the people know!!!
