I'm still here, just haven't posted much stuff lately besides request and art trade stuff. Also, real life stuff I'd rather not get into and all.

I picked up New Super Mario Bros. Wii recently, and I love its level designs. In one level you can find yourself navigating a dark area with scarce sources of light unless you get a fire flower, and in another you can find yourself platforming across giant manta rays with clouds that poof away when you touch them obscuring hidden items.

There's also some excellent powerups. The Ice Flower's iceballs have a different trajectory than the Fire Flower's but freeze foes into cubes to use for platforming or throwing, the Penguin Suit takes over NSMB's Blue Shell's purpose while being less suicidal and adding in lesser Ice Flower power, the Propeller Hat is a more limited but still very effective flying tool.

Even the bosses (consisting of the finally-returning Koopalings) mix things up so it isn't just a matter of "nuke 'em with fireballs". All in all, I'm enjoying this game a lot more than its DS prequel, although I gotta give New Super Mario Bros. props for bringing in this new 2D platforming boom and allowing for a sequel on Wii.

Request and Art Trade Guidelines
1) Don't ask for anything against dA's Terms of Service.
2) Please limit character count to two, maybe three at most.
3) I'm not good with backgrounds, so I'll only do them on a whim or if they're simple.
4) I specialize in Happy Tree Friends and Mario stuff, but I can do other stuff as well.

Art Trade Slots
1. ~ Tonguey greeting Tux
2.
For those who don't know, Pulseman was a 1994 action/platformer title by Game Freak (the Pokémon guys, two years prior to Pokémon's Japanese release), released for the Mega Drive on cartridge in Japan, and only on SEGA Channel in the States. It's a game where you play as an electric superhero who's half human and half C-Life (some A.I. program thing), which gives him access to abilities like electrical slashes, firing flash arrows, and turning himself into an electric pinball. His goal? To stop Dr. Waruyama, the corrupted scientist who is the leader of the Galaxy Gang.

Anyway, the game's on Virtual Console now at 900 Points ($9.00). I highly recommend downloading a copy, if you haven't already. It has great visual style (by Genesis standards), superb gameplay mechanics, and laughably bad English voice acting. There's some Japanese text, like the level descriptions and backstory that plays when you leave the game at the title screen, but most of the stuff that matters is already in English.

Art Trade Guidelines
1) Don't ask for anything against dA's Terms of Service.
2) Please limit character count to two, maybe three at most.
3) I'm not good with backgrounds, so I'll only do them on a whim or if they're simple.
4) I specialize in Happy Tree Friends and Mario stuff, but I can do other stuff as well.

Art Trade Slots
1.
EDIT: I probably won't be submitting stuff too often in the next couple of weeks due to family visiting, but I'm still accepting requests and art trades. Here's the guidelines.

1) Please do not ask for stuff against that's against deviantART's Terms of Service. This should be an obvious one. Basically, don't ask for anything pornographic.

2) Please do not request complex backgrounds in pics (Applies to free requests only). I mean no offense to the requesting crowd, but I'm more willing to work on drawing and coloring a more detailed background in a pic when I'm receiving something in return, since I color everything traditionally (colored pencils). That doesn't mean that I won't put backgrounds in requests, though, so don't be too afraid to ask.

3) I have the right to turn down any art trades or requests that I do not wish to do. Basically, what this means is that you shouldn't expect me to do an elaborate full-color pic of your fan character going on a murderous rampage through a mall in exchange for a black-and-white crudely drawn stick figure of Tonguey on notebook paper.

4) If you're still interested, notes are preferred. The note system is how I usually prefer to receive request and trade info, but I'll still take request info via other means.

Art Trades
1. free
2. free
3. free
4. free
5. free

Requests
1. Pic of Pablo, Tonguey, and Mewphisto (0%)
2. free
3. free

Yesterday, I found out how to use our new laptop's webcam to take pictures (by accident), so now I can submit new art and do art trades once more. Oh happy days!

.....Well, actually all I've done with it so far is mainly resubmit old stuff I've done in a clearer resolution (but with a bit of glare), but I have submitted one new pic. [link]

Brief art trade info: Pretty much the same rules apply. Yadda yadda yadda, don't ask for ToS violating stuff; blah blah blah, comics aren't my forté; yak yak yak, I'm willing to do non-HTF style stuff as well.

One difference to note, though: I'm setting the available number of open trade slots down to three again. No offense against anyone, I just don't wanna get too over-my-head in requests at the moment.

I ended up being offline for most of May, due to moving.....but I'm back online now. We picked up a laptop with built-in wireless support in early June, although we don't have a router yet so we use a "coming-and-going" linksys connection to go online.

I'm currently practicing my drawing skills here and there, but I can't really ensure any new stuff on my dA account unless I can find a way to get this laptop's Crystal Eye to take pictures, or pick up a scanner. Still, it's nice to have a compuer superior to that piece of crap we had before. I'll probably be getting a laptop of my own as well, soon.

On another subject, I got a DS Lite as an early birthday present, along with New Super Mario Bros. and Professor Layton and the Mysterious Village. Since then, I've acquired Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, Polarium, The Legend of Zelda: The Phantom Hourglass, and Animal Crossing: Wild World as well.

I still haven't got the whole wireless connection thing down pat yet, but if anyone's interested in trading Friend Codes for Animal Crossing, please send me a note; I don't wanna give away my code to just anybody. I'd love to visit your AC towns, and for you to visit mine (and get my town's NookWay upgraded to Nookington's in the process).

So April Fool's Day has finally passed, the very day when many people play ridiculously bad jokes on the gullible. Whether it be changing low-resolution avatars into Mudkips to simulate a fake hacking, faking a coma/death/end of series, or announcing a game that's obviously not real, people still have fun fooling others or denying that their more obvious pranks are actually pranks on the first of April.

Personally, I was almost tempted to claim that my art trades were back up and running again (when they aren't), but I decided just to watch other April Fool's jokes from the shadows instead.

It appears that it's still gonna be a long while until I can submit traditional art again, so I thought I'd do some journals talking about some games I've been playing recently instead.....although it'll mainly be older games and demos of newer games since I haven't picked up the next generation of consoles yet.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii): I've only tried out the GameStop demo of this since I don't have a Wii of my own yet, but said demo was actually the full game with everything already unlocked (thanks to avid store demo-hoggers). In the time I spent trying out the game, I tried out the Brawl mode with the following characters: Sonic, Wario, Samus/Zero Suit Samus, Meta Knight, and Snake. Here's my opinion of brief play using them. Note that the control set into the Wii station was the Wiimote+Nunchuck.

Sonic: I'll say this, he's definitely as fast as we've come to expect, albeit he doesn't seem to really Smash worth a crap. His character almost feels akin to the downward spiral of his 3D gaming career. It's still a big deal though, since we can see who'd win in a fight between Mario and Sonic (HINT: MARIO *shot by Sonic fans*)

Wario: Having both Wario's classic and Wario Ware outfits available is freaking sweet, but I couldn't help but feel a bit bitter that his motorcycle B special made it easy for him to fall off the stage. Well, it's either the cycle or the Wiimote+Nunchuck control scheme I'm not quite used to.

Samus/Zero Suit Samus: Samus feels pretty much the same as she's always felt aside from her Final Smash, and Zero Suit Samus, even with whipping phaser abilities, feels much like she did in Metroid: Zero Mission (which means GET SUIT BACK ASAP!!!)

Meta Knight: No complaints about Meta in my brief play, he feels just right to me. Sword attacks, flying, and flying sword attacks feel so right to me.

Solid Snake: This guy's definitely got variety in his moves. I didn't fully delve into his abilities when controlling him, but I'm sure he'll be quite devastating with some practice.

All in all, from the playtime I spent with Brawl (about 15 minutes), it feels familiar and new. It'll most likely be one of the first Wii games I'll purchase.

Phantom Dust (Xbox): A three-year old Majesco publishing of a four-year old Japanese Microsoft Studios game made by the man behind Panzer Dragoon Saga, this game is what you get when you throw Dragon Ball Z, Akira, and the Pokémon Trading Card Game together into a blender. The single-player game basically prepares you for the multiplayer game (meaning it can get repetitive), but this game definitely has style.

Seven destructible battle arenas, over 300 special abilities (READ: CARDS) you can stick into your Arsenal (READ: DECK), and an exquisitively dark and ruined futuristic world make it quite appealing.....not to mention that it supports practically every feature an Xbox title can support. I'm almost tempted to sign up for Xbox Live, even though I'm aware veterans would tear me apart.

Art Status: Currently closed, might be open again soon if I get good at all-digital.

I'm willing to doing a few art trades, if anyone is interested. Just a few guidelines:

1) I'm willing to do pics that are suggestive, gory, or that contain profanity, but please refrain from asking for any material that's against deviantART's TOS.

2) I mainly do Happy Tree Friends fan art, but I'm willing to try out drawing other character styles as well. Please don't ask for comics, though.

3) Character limit is one or two characters, although on a smaller scale I may be willing to do three or four. I might also add a background to some pics, if I feel they need a bit more color.

4) If I do accept an art trade with you, please refrain from constantly asking me if it's finished yet. I'll get it done and online as soon as I can.

5) I bear the right to refuse any art trade requests that I'm not willing to do.

Anyway, art trades are now open! I've recently decided to increase the number of available slots from three to five.

Slot 1: Open
Slot 2: Open
Slot 3: Open
Slot 4: Open
Slot 5: Open

If I accept your art trade request, I'll add you to one of the slots and send you a note detailing what I'd like you to draw in return. I won't ask for anything too complex in return; most likely just a pic of one of my characters or the like.
