It was the day after I had one of the happiest days I had in awhile. I bonded with friends and saw so much laughter and smiling. I was euphoric.

When I wrote that I truly desired, I truly wished I could see that happen for everyone. To be quite honest, I really didn't (and still don't) think it was one of my best poems. In fact, when I was going to post it I thought 'I wonder if I'll put this in scraps later...' and 'I'm in such a writing slump...'

I am most fond of powerful metaphor and complex imagery and don't find myself very satisfied with my own poetry that often. I am still not satisfied with this poem and yet, I signed in to check up on Deviant Art the very next day to find that I had received 25 favorites overnight. I thought... "How did this happen?"...okay okay... more like "HOLY SHIT ON A STICK". I was stunned. I was overwhelmed.

I had tons of favorites from users who didn't really watch me along with a handful of comments. I looked and saw one comment there. =th3krimzon1 (My DA big brother!). Featured it for me. AND Suggested it to be a Daily Deviation. Oh my god, thank you. I really don't think it will be a Daily Deviation. I really don't think it's that good, but I am so honored that you liked it THAT much.

Now it is at 37 favorites. It's now THE most popular poem in my gallery. I am truly touched and surprised that such a simple poem has touched so many. I am pleased that it has spread like the love, the affection that I hoped for when I wrote the poem.

Here I write a poem about spreading affection and what does it do? It TOUCHES people. It made people feel touched and loved. My HOPE of LOVE that I WROTE about in that VERY poem touched a handful of people...

And and... I should stop writing now before I become so sappy that you guys get a sugar high.

Yeah. I'm not really angry. I mean, I maybe thought I was a bit, but I mean, people are busy. I'm disappointed . Admittedly, though it takes something else off my mind. To be fair, though...it felt like it was off my mind long ago.

The whole project lost enthusiasm, which I don't blame anyone, considering they could be spending their time making artwork for contests... and win something.

I guess what I'm trying to say is I don't want to continue making challenges for something that's barely happening or not going to happen. I'd rather just go on to posting articles featuring favorite works of art.

R.I.P. Cartheinsane's Connection. I'm surprised you lasted this long. #16 was incomplete. Maybe if people want to do the most recent one and enough people still do it I'll post a feature, but I WILL NOT do any more challenge posts. I'm tired of doing it anyway.

In the first comment I post who they're by, I decided to do this so if you didn't recognize them, you'd choose unbiasedly.

In there are quotes from 3 different books, the other 7 are from proses and poetry of some deviants I watch. It's a fun little way to show/feature literature that I love/sticks out to me. Who knows...you might see a quote from one of your own pieces in the future!

I also enjoyed my previous one, so I could see just what sort of lines from myself that you guys enjoyed most. THIS is why I wanted to clear things up, since I did it before...I wanted you to know that this is not another case of that. The credit goes to those wonderful artists.

In other news...I still haven't gotten any submissions for the Cartheinsane music fun challenge. [link] I don't know if I should just continue waiting till people do it or post another news article and post the submissions of BOTH of those challenge types together in one article when people do them.

I've been thinking and... well I should really go through my friend's list. I was inspired by another friend to do so. I hope that if some of you get removed you're not offended, so just a head's up. I'm going to be watching people that.

a) Talk to me and care about me and/or I care about you.

and

b) Make good artwork/serious about making good artwork.

If you are one or the other I will keep watching you. If you are inactive, I'm sorry, but I'm removing you. It's nothing against you, but if you show up every half a year practically to respond only to comments and do nothing but that...what am I to do?

I'm not disowning you and it's not like I'm ignoring you. You send a submission for my connection? I'll accept it, because anyone's allowed to do so. You talk to me, I respond. I only hope that my watchers watch me because they like my art or me, not because they want me to watch them. I don't want that.

I want to apologize to anyone that I just ended up watching to be polite, because they watched me or they didn't have enough watchers.

It's so disappointing to spend your time on a critique to want to HELP improve a piece only for it to be ignored. I realize it's the artist's choice in the end whether or not to change their work, but seriously?

If you're not going to listen or respect the person who took their precious time to give you a critique then why do you bother asking for an advanced special critique? You might as well just say in comments you want your grammar and spelling corrected.

I'm probably going to remove fractals as a challenge for now, since so far nobody seems interested in doing them. If anyone's interested in doing the fractal challenges at all I'll post some. Also questioning the painting challenges, since those would probably take a bit longer of a time for people to do...it might be kind of silly to keep those in. Paintings have also been ignored for challenges by people.

Photography challenges:
1) Take a photo with bright warm colors (not neon) such as yellows, oranges or reds. Nothing should be centered.

2) Take a photo with cool colors such as blues or greens. One object must become the center of attention (without being completely centered) while the others become background.

Drawing challenges:
1) Draw a character with an extra appendage without making it stick out. (coloring is optional).

2) Draw a character with 2 objects that replaces 2 appendages. (coloring is optional)

Painting challenges:

Update: I'm still open for more people's work. It'd be nice if more people would do the other challenges. Pretty please? Remember that you don't have to do them all and you can scroll down to read the type of challenge you want to do. You don't have to read through all the challenges (because what's the point of reading the ones you're not going to do?).

I am back with "Cartheinsane's connection" with not only poetry challenges, but prose challenges, photography challenges, fractal challenges, painting challenges and drawing challenges (painting and drawing can include digital). Granted, every time I post a connection I will not be able to post challenges for them all, but I will do my best! ON TO THE CHALLENGES! Feel free to do as many of the challenges as you like from as many categories as you like.

Photo, drawing and painting challenges:

1) Draw, paint or take a picture of 1 or more objects in your room that you think are the least used. Take them to...
A) Renew their beauty somehow.

and/or

B) Create a darkness about them. Make the objects evil/haunting.

2) Draw, paint or take a picture of an animal of some sort that rarely talked about or that doesn't get enough love (so pretty much dogs and cats are done quite a bit). This can include a type of bird that nobody thinks about or a completely different species rarely talked/thought about.

Fractal challenges:

1) Make a non-centered, non-symmetrical piece that's fairly transparent with 2 or more colors inspired by ...

A) An element (fire, water, air, earth or sky)
Or
B) A favorite object of yours.

Prose challenges:

1) Write an interpretation of the meaning one of your favorite poems/proses as though you know that it is the meaning. Please cite your source and give credit to the artist you're interpreting. This can be any prose/poem.

2) Write a short story that includes these objects: A red ball, a paper plate and stinky old shoes.

Poetry challenge:

1) Write a poem with a the following structure

(Each word that starts at the beginning of each line must be kept there. Each line represents a place where you can have whatever. Each line can be as long as you'd like, but of course be polite and don't go overboard. Capitalization can be adjusted how you would like.)

FAQ and pet peeves

I just thought I would write this so anytime people ask these questions I can link them here!

Why aren't you watching me?

I watch people for the following one or more reasons:
A) Because they're nice people
B) They are genuinely interested in my work
C) I am genuinely interested in their work

Rarely is it only ONE of those reasons. Often times it's either A+B, A+C, A+B+C or C on it's own (because that usually means their art is insanely good).

So it would be easy to say that I WON'T watch you for one or more of these reasons:
A) Your attitude is atrocious
B) You watch me and run without saying a word and seem to only care about popularity
C) Your work is simply not my style (isn't based on what I would or wouldn't write though)

(Edit: I have a lot of people to watch already and I need a GOOD reason to watch you).

Now there's a difference in liking the idea of many people appreciating your work and still making an effort to give in return than pretending you care about someone's work to gain popularity/notice without making much effort. There's no point in pretending with me for a little while and then ignoring me later because I WILL notice and WILL take you off my watch list. So what's the point?

I asked you a question about yourself? Why are you being so oblique/vague about it?
Privacy reasons. Questions art related I am way less likely to be evasive.

So it's okay if I note you about it then?
My answer MIGHT end up being less evasive, but I still have no reason to not be careful in case you aren't who you say you are. Call me paranoid, but there's nothing wrong with a little caution.

Why don't you have a picture of yourself on DA?
But I do. It's a very nice picture (a few years old) of my arm with very nice arm art by my dear friend whom I know face to face. XD [link]

Because I disagree with all/a part of what you suggested or what you suggested is just not my style. (or doesn't fit my personality)

1) Please don't pull the "I know more than you because I am older than you" thing on me or people around me. That doesn't automatically make your point MORE valid.

2) Please don't pull the "You'll never develop in your writing if you don't take critiques" on me just because I didn't agree with your critique. Just because you made a critique doesn't mean you're right. It is your OPINION on how to make something better. It is not a FACT. It is an OPINION. In the end it's the artist's decision.
