AIDS Walk went well. Managed to pull a muscle in my leg about 3 miles in, but was parked at the end of the route, so I had to walk the rest of the way on it to get back to the car. My leg has not forgiven me for that yet.

Worked almost every day this week, so I'm anticipating a happy paycheck. The first one in a very, very long time.

Had a Karate/self defense workshop - it was awesome

Went to a concert - IT was awesome

On the way home, we stopped at the Winchester Mystery House - i think that was the BEST part of the whole weekend. Took over 400 pics, posted a little over 100 of them to facebook - i'll probly just post about 5 or 6 here - the best ones, of course

Saturday I went and helped out at a 'craft demonstration' at Tony Swatton's shop, Sword and the Stone, in Burbank, CA. Now, when I say craft, I don't mean going over to the Wal-Mart and picking up some beads and t-shirt paint (though, I could do fun things with that as well)rather, we had chainmaille, blacksmithing, smelting, gem-cutting and all that fun stuff.

I was at the chainmaille table.

they left Sue and I alone a little too long, and we got a bit creative with patterns, i'll post one later.

the guy doing the smelting promised me a piece of the nice, high carbon steel he was smelting, as long as it came out right.


Sunday I went over to my friend Kris's house and played all kinds of traditional music, ate chinese food, and drank lots of raspberry lambic.

I work hard on the things I post here, and as such, people telling me that they just broke the world record for vomiting while looking at my stuff is VERY upsetting.

If you have negative or insulting comments, please keep them to yourself.

I post my works here for positive compliments, to give people ideas for their own works, CONSTRUCTIVE criticism (not insults), and possibly to pick up the occasional commission, If you don't like what I do, move along and look at something else.


Anyway, that's it for my rant. Thanks everyone for all the nice comments.

Also, got a new charger for my digital camera, so I should be able to get pics of new stuff up soon

Fall means that we got a stock of wool in at my store, so I went on a spree the other day, and bought a small stack.

Should have about 4, maybe 5 new bodices up soon.

Also working on getting a smith-shop set up at home, so i can get more shineys made.

Inherited a drill-press while helping my BF's brother & sister-in-law move, so that just about made my week, just need to figure out a place to put it. As of now, it is still in the back-seat of my little car, alongside a few faire-dresses and a small pile of kilts and assorted wool-scraps.

Originally, I was thinking about trying to make a RL set of Bloodfang armor (which, in my opinion, is still the coolest looking rogue set in WoW) but that much leather is out of my price range at the moment. Someday maybe, but not yet

Next idea was a set of plate-armor, but I didn't have time for that much hammer-work, even though sheet metal is significantly cheaper than leather (cool, huh?) maybe next year, if I'm not swamped with costuming stuff.

Finally, I was over at a friend's house, and she gave me a pile of about 3.5 - 4 yards of a really pretty rusty brown velvet that she had NO idea what she could do with - and a piece of brocade I saw at work immediately came to mind.

Yep, new pirate costume coming up soon. Planning on doing the jacket in the brocade, and trimming it with the velvet, then doing the corset in the velvet and trimming it with the brocade.

Definitely excited about it.

When I went to the pet store to get the stuff for it, there was this awesome tank sculpture - it was a cannon. I had to get it.

Almost as soon as I put it in his tank, Raph climbed on top of the cannon, and has been sitting there happily for the last half hour or so. and of course, he's completely ignoring the little floaty island thingie the pet store guy said he needed. He likes the cannon better, lol.

also got him some feeder fish to chase around the tank for exercise/entertainment/dinner. the cannon was supposed to be for them to hide in so he wouldn't get them all at once. He chased them for awhile, then discovered the cannon.

He looks happy now

Renfaire is over - at least, the big one is - and I've been slacking.

I kept pretty busy this season. I have a wondrous stockpile of new stuff to post, but I haven't photographed any of it yet. 2 new costumes, and some metal-work (forge, not chain, fun stuff). There is also 2 more costume pieces in progress, one more I need to start, and I even picked up a few commissions - that makes me happy.

I also just noticed that I'm getting close to 2000 page views, and I still haven't commemorated the 1000 page view benchmark yet.

AND, on top of all this, it's job-hunting time, and with this crap economy we've got now, that isn't easy.... nor is it cheap -- unleaded has broken $4.00/gal at all but the cheapest gas stations around here. The fact that finding a $3.97/gal gas station today nearly made me cry with happiness scares me - a lot. Most of the places around here are sitting around $4.15-$4.25/gal for the cheap stuff.

I remember when gas was less than half that. I miss it.

At least my car isn't a massive tank, I never thought I'd be so happy to drive a little 2-door coupe. <3 the mileage, and the fact that it's a pretty car helps too.

Anyway, hope the rant didn't hurt anyone's brain, I'll get stuff posted as soon as I get pics organized.
