I had my first photography classes. I didn't really learn anything new, but I DID get to work in a darkroom. And that was totally awesome.
Also, turns out that students are allowed to use the darkroom for a ridiculously small fee, so Ill probably do a lot more black and white photography until they teach us how to do color processing.

I don't have any multimedia classes yet, but I'm looking forward to those too.

on a completely off topic note, i bought a Colorsplash Flash and it should arrive sometime next week.

In other news, I got accepted!
By that i mean that i got accepted to the school that i wanted to get into. Its a school (well, upper secondary school) that focuses on all kinds of art. So im pretty happy. Too bad that my friends didn't get in

Ive been going around Finland for about two weeks now. Seeing friends and my granparents and going to their summer cottage and stuff like that. But now im back home. I did a lot of photography, and im hoping to get some nice stuff back from the lab.

Another thing im psyched about is this Neil Young concert thats coming up. My dad already got some tickets, and i cant wait. Ive been a big fan ever since i first heard his music.

I ordered 10 rolls of velvia. Its said to be the most saturated slide film you can buy, so something like that should be happening any time soon. I might cross process a few too

So, i had to send my film all the way to Oulu for developing (thats more than 500km away).
My friend took them to the lab and sent them back to me.

And i have to say the result was awesome!

I mean, the pictures are nothing special since i was just testing out my lc-a. But the colors were everything i hoped for

Also, i tried to get some 35mm holga shots on the same roll but only one was succesful

I paid 25€ for it.

Is an Agfa Synchro Box, also know as the Agfa Box 600.

It uses 120 film. It has one shutter speed + B. Two apertures. Its even got tripod threads, caple release support and flash sync!

And the really cool thin is, that its got a built in yellow filter. This is proably the most commonly used filter in black and white photography since it yeilds nicer skintones and good skies.

The flash it uses is really weird tho'. It uses those single use bulbs, which are pretty stupid.

I might post pictures of it later, and ive been meaning to take a "family portrait" image of all my cameras. Maybe later...

It makes the whole deviantART experience more enjoyable.
So far ive been playing around with stuff and its really fun.

Some news:

I bought another Lubitel 2 today.
It was 3€ so it was a snatch.

The main reason i bought it for was that it had two color filters with it.
Those small ones are so hard to find these days.

It also differs from my other one because the "lubitel 2" text is written in cyrillic characters.
Overall, it seems like slightly worse model since the lens isnt multi coated and it doesent have a time-release.


Also, i had a real burst of faves yesterday (with my misc. inbox hitting over 60 in one day).
And thats all thanks to the nice gentleman who devoted an entire journal for me

I received my pictures yesterday.
There were some happy surprises, some sad dissapointments.

Lets start with the good ones, shall we?

Well, i was pleased with the Diana+ pictures. I actually uploaded one (so far).
Then there were the holga, Agfa, Zenit and Fisheye pics.

They were mostly great.

The bad news is that like i feared, it wasnt bright enough at the ski resort so most of the roll i shot there is near-unexposed. But the ones that DID work, are nice to look at

So, i have a handful of pictures on my computer now. (took me a couple hours to scan them.)
I shall be submitting again!

On a completely off topic note; I must get myself a subscription

Usually it takes "a bit more than a week" to develop them but i dont know now since theres so many.

Im really looking forward to it since it includes my new Fisheye and Diana pictures.
I shot 1 roll of Ilford 3200 in the Diana+ and Kodak t-max and Fuji Sensia in the fisheye.


Other "news": Yep, school starts again tomorrow.
Ive had a fun 2 week holiday. Ive obviously got plenty of pictures during that time...

I spent 5 days in Oulu ([link]). I spent most of the time at my grandparents and at my friends () house. Well, its not his house but you know what i mean.
One notable event would be our one-day trip to Ruka ([link]). It was pretty cloudy so i hope my pictures turned out ok. because i took alot. yeah.

I got the film scanner i asked for christmas. Its a CanoScan 8800F. ive been playing around with it, scanning negatives and such. It is totally awesome.

The max dpi is 9600, so theres enough detail to go around. I can get 40 megapixel images from 35mm negs.

Im so happy.

2.) And also, i got my first Zenit 122k pictures back. I thought they were pretty cool.
I ordered a CD with the photos on it but somehow the lab screwed everything up and those pictures are really grainy when i compare the to the prints.

Actually, the prints arent grainy at all. But the cd pictures look like somebody sprinkled brightly colored sand onto the prints and scanned them. And THEN added some noise in photoshop.

And i only used ISO 200!

But other than that, i was pleased with the pics. I even put a couple up

I got some new pictures a day ago, and ill be uploading those after ive finished uploading my current batch.

12 of these new ones are my long awaited Lubitel 2 shots! I have to say im very positively suprised by them.
The pictures look like lc-a shots in 6x6 format. I love the saturation of the colors.

The little sliding locks on the sides were pulled down by the neck strap and part of my negative was exposed for at least 2 seconds. I closed my bag and went into a dark room (the toilet ) to put it back in place. I hope that my whole film wasnt ruined.

Its strange how all these Holga worst case scenario-stories ive heard are happening to me one-by-one.

Also, i have been busy with other things lately. School and such. I wont talk about those any further.
I have done some photography. I have 2 undeveloped rolls waiting in my fridge. Ive got some prints back,
now i just have to get them on my computer.
Also i have 2 paintings ive done quite a while ago. I shall uppload those as well. some day...

Also, A little while ago i ordered a ZENIT 122k SLR camera. There was something wrong with the shutter, so i sent it back. Now i have recieved a working model and i shall be shooting with that in the near future.

Ive also ordered (and recieved) a Pentax Cosmicar 70-210mm telezoom. Its pretty sweet. No pics of that, sorry.

I am very enthusiastic about lomography.
(just wiki it if you have no clue what im talking about. If you have no idea what "wiki" is, then google it. If you have no idea what google is, then come out of the cave where youve been living for the past nine years)
...And about alternative photography in general.
And using film. yes.

Using film is so fun! I was very excited when i got my photos back.
Boy, did i love them!

I shot 4 rolls of film with a 10€ camera that came with film and an underwater case.
So, i have some phisy fotos for uu!
And i even tried building a pinhole! (bad results though but hey, it was my first try)

Im preparing a shot of pictures for you.
These pictures will be from spain and the camp i mentioned in my last journal.
The camp was lots of fun and crazy!

Plus, my dad was in china on a work thing, so guess what he brought me?!?

A CAMERA

Not just any camera, but a old, used Mudan (no, ive never heard of it either)

Its a medium format camera, so im hoping to get some film today. And also get my holiday film developed.

But all this (crap and pictures) in the update!

The jet lag the trip back caused has completely messed up my sleeping rhythms.
Which results in huge-ass eye bags. Except theyre more like sleeping bags.

LOL

But the trip itself was fun. We stayed in a place called Begur (there for seven days, in Barcelona for three), and the water there was very clear. So naturally I went snorkeling.
but you cant get clear water and warm water in the same package. So yeah, it was fucking cold.
One day it was windy so the water was extra cold and I swear that when I was shaking on the verge of hypothermia, i had a near-death-experience. (just joking.)
But it was worth it. I saw plenty (and i mean plenty) fish that you normally would see only in aquariums. And an octopus. It was awesome since it actually moved and didn't just sit between some rock.
And jellyfishes, those spiky balls that lie in the seabed and some big fishes that i cant name.

I did some underwater photography with a cheap-ass camera() i bought, so I'll see how they turned out when i develop the film.
Speaking of photography, I'm disappointed.
I barely got to do any photography there. I got like..two..pics.
I had so much to do, so many things to buy (well not really, i only bought two shirts and two pairs of shoes) and so many places to be at. )

But i ate some cool food and had a good time so I don't mind.

Oh, I almost forgot to tell that my...what it called *looks up*...hmm.
well, if I translate it directly it would be "confession-camp". God, does that sound stupid. :yellowalien:
Anyways, most Finnish people should know what it is (rippi leiri).
Yea, I'm going on the camp next Tuesday, and I'm exited and think its gonna be fun.

After the camp and the confimation (again, i dont know if thats the right way to say it) the party in which I will recieve my new computer! and possibly a new guitar +some money and some manly aftershave and a mini-fridge and other weird goodies.. My relatives are soo funny and i cant wait what they come up with.

I'm slightly leaning towards the second one because I love ESP and LTD guitars.
Epiphone and LTD are very good, cheap guitars. Some guitarists actually prefer Epiphone over Gibson.

WHEW! what a long journal.
