I'm glad I decided to keep out of artists alley at multi day cons. A few weeks ago, I tabled at Madeby Illust market and just paid for Orlando Anime Day, June 15. I have some stock and I don't over think about my presentation at these simple places. A lot less stressful.

I have switched from my last job because even if I request a day off 3 months in advance,  I still wouldn't get it and wouldn't know till the week of. Unfortunately, just found out that my new job will cut hours anytime there's a slow day of sales.

A side not with fan art, I don't know about you readers, but doesn't it irks you how often people will pass by and say 'nice' or 'cool' what ever fandom and then just leave? This happens with my original stuff too, but not to the amount that fan art does...
You want to have people that will appreciate your work for you and its quality. You don't want to end up with a lot of old prints of series that finished or lost favor. I finally have a bit of a cool down with work and classes. Only 4 weeks left with the term and I definitly can't wait to rest. I'm catching up with my commissions also, just 2 characters and some backgrounds to do.

So it cost 300$ for 3ft table, luckly I got an end booth so I 'added' an extra feet. Though if I had the money and able to stay for the whole 4 days I'd definitly buy a whole table.

So I'm opening up my preorder commission. Why would I do that?
Because at large cons like Otakon and the small space I have, I can't do too many commissions at con. Its easy to do the chibi stuff and sketchs but things that need a steady hand like inks and colors, I tend to do them at the hotel at night.
Well, thats not good for my (or any artists') health and since I"ve stopped doing commission late into the night, I haven't had much con crude =)

Today I just got my fabrics from spoonflower for the tote bags I need to sew, though I still have a few things I need to get such as adjustable rings, sholder straps and backing fabric. I might need more clear pvc cover too so maybe today though most likely tomorrow I'll head on over to Hobby Lobby.

In the mean time, I'm cutting them up for sewing, workin my inventory sheet and finishing my supercon commissions.     The had a decent number but I must be spoiled by Orlando's convention center. The city was built for tourism, with large space, lots of parking and everything is a walking distance from everything else. I made back my out of pocket expenses but not my time. Another con to add to my reasons of why I won't do cons for some time. I didn't stay all 4 days, but if you're local, its a con that you can keep going to.

"Her's" Sells out pretty quickly and is a steady seller.

They're all good, but I only have space to put 1 huge banner then fill the area with regular posters at the size that I sell them. I will print 2 but one will be a the very top at Otakon, at other cons they both will share equal spacing since I'll have a full table.

With the drama going on with airlines and school being so expensive (found out that they reduced one of my scholarships) I don't see me flying anywhere other then NYCC. NYCC is the only exception because I've been there, I have family there and theres many other things I do at the con and the city that worth the 200$ plan ticket.

Classes are interesting, I'm not to happy for painting class having us use oils first since they're so expensive (and I have a lot of acrylic I could have used).
Oils doesn't seem to hard, just that you use a lot of paint. I think i'm not the only one in my class cause my teacher keeps commenting on use using the paint to thin.

Alright, so Ringling is quickly gaining up on me, work is really ... work, Internship is starting steadily, my online classes will end 3 days after 1st day of Ringling and I'm behind on my personal work including finishing Galactic Divine and get started on Oeclair.

Last convention for the year is Orlando Anime Day on the 23rd. After that, I'm going to see how to sell off the remaining stock and get started on new ones (for when I"m close to graduate).  I'd also like to get started on portfolio work cause art school ain't cheap and I don't plan to be messing around with that much 'investment'.

This weekend at Lakeland, FL, about an hour from either Orlando or Tampa.
I'll be in the artist alley and things are wounding down. I've only ordered a few copies of 2 posters that I completely ran out of since mega to last through metro and thats about it. After that, what ever sells out sells out. Most things are down to 2-4 copies each left for 2 small cons and 1 mid size con.

I also got the last batch of custom printed fabric for my totes and messenger bags for the next 2 years. These sell pretty slow unless its a major con so expect a few only on my Etsy.

I think many didn't know the con exist and there's probably plenty of cons and other events competing for memorial weekend. Saturday picked up more and since the con ticket was so low many decided to come in after hearing word of mouth about the con.

For a 1st year con, I made a little more then my table so I'm expecting this con to really grow really well. I sold zero posters, few prints, but did sell a bag, plenty of notebooks, and coin purses! Freecon was ... well I won't be going next year. Orlando anime day was great, but Freecon did not turned out how I expected so yeah.

I got about 3 people asking if I take card, guess its becoming more popular so I know the year after next I’ll have to get a smart phone. I’m offering more expensive items and I think more are buying multiple things from my table that adds up. Hopefully I can start selling my original traditional arts. Jeez , I’m finally caught with commissions only to be out of many because of convention expenses! hopefully, I do well at Megacon (March 25-27 Gray table # 12) and see you all there.
