Last night, I had a UStream session. And one of the pictures I sketched was Blaze, shackled and looking pissed. I decided to draw her in the nude just for something different. Suddenly, everyone in the chat started saying that the video had gone blank. Pulling up the console, I got a huge pop-up that read simply "IP BANNED: NUDITY".

I'm still a little miffed about that, since, in my opinion, simple nudity is not something I consider to be porn. That, and I didn't know you couldn't do adult work on UStream. Kinda takes the fun out of it, doesn't it?

So, LiveStream you say, right? Thing is, I've tried to use it before in the past, and it ended up lagging the hell out of my computer. It wasn't until last night that I discovered the reason. I had been using the program you have to download, which DOES increase the quality of the broadcast, but uses a LOT of processor power.

Last night, after my ban, I tried to use the other method, which is similar to how UStream does it. And it worked perfectly. So looks like I'm moving on to LiveStream. Just don't expect me to draw nudity or anything porn-like on there. I'm not taking the risk with this. I will provide a link when I broadcast later today.

1. "What do you use to draw with?"
These days, I mostly use Opencanvas 1.1 and Flash 5 for my drawings. Sometimes I'll open up Photoshop 7 for touch-ups or special effects.

2. "Is Chaos Croc a crocodile? Cause he looks nothing like Vector."
Croc is actually a lizard. But, since Chaos Lizard sounds too plain, I named him Chaos Croc. Plus, his original design was based off an Archie comic villain named Crocbot. He didn't look like Vector either. XD

3. "My character is resistant to all forms of mind control or robotization, Croc. And I challenge you! Think you can beat me?"
That's not a question I'm going to answer. I'm sure that, in your tiny little world, your character is the next coming of Jesus Christ himself, in furry form. So if you want to believe you're better than Croc, then keep thinking that.

4. "I pledge myself to you, Croc! Roboticize or brainwash me, so I may serve you!"
Again, one of those things I'm not going to respond to. I can see where both #3 and #4 are headed, and here it is.

5. "Can you draw my character beating up Croc/defeated by Croc?"
Simple answer; no. Long answer; I'm a little busy with commissions and projects right now to undertake free requests. If I choose to draw your character, of my own free will, then I shall. Until then, please stop prodding me about it.

6. "Can I use Croc in a story/comic I'm working on?"
Yes you can. Just make sure to mention that Croc is my character, not yours. Also, nothing romantic or sexual, please.

7. "Can I color one of your pictures?"
You can color any of my pictures that you want. All that I ask is that when you post it, you provide a link to the original piece done by me.

8. "Did you create Tails-Ko? Cause I've seen that name mentioned with other artists too."
Yes and no. The name 'Tails-Ko' is a generic name given to the female version of Tails that's become popular. That being said, I DID make her evil. But technically, no, Tails-Ko is not my character. She's a gender-swapped version of an official character.

9. "How much are commissions?"
An updated price list will be put up soon.

10. "Does Croc ever hypnotize/roboticize guys?"
Yes. They're just not nearly as much fun to draw as the ladies are. XD

So I'm still without a job. I've applied to everything I could think of, even McDonalds. No dice. I've just given up watching the news now, as all it does is anger me. "The economy is getting stronger!" Yeah, well where's the jobs?

On a lighter note, I'm looking for some WoW buddies. I'm on the Winterhoof server, under the Horde name Valshira, and...well, I like the guild I'm in, but I doubt they're going to help me build up other characters from level 1 to 80. Now, we all know about traditional art. Done using pencil, pen, marker, and paper, it feels more 'natural'. It's the way artists have drawn since time began, so it's how everyone starts. I fondly remember filling up notebook after notebook at school, with a mixture of notes and doodles. In fact, I still have some of those laying around. Also, with traditional, it's more challenging. If you don't have a steady hand, it makes drawing things harder.

As for digital, it's the 'new age' thing. Everything is done on a computer, from sketches to colors. Programs such as Photoshop, Corel Painter, OpenCanvas, or Paint Shop Pro replace pencils and paper. It's faster, and if mistakes are made, it's easy to fix with an Undo button. However, most artists also view this method as 'cheap', claiming that it loses the personal feeling most artists feel towards their work.

My feelings are...a little strange. I can see the appeal towards digital, but I can also understand how traditional art is better.

What are your thoughts on this? Do you prefer digital or traditional, and why?

I can feel the pain. Ever since I was fired from my job 3 weeks ago, I've been applying for places all around, hoping to find work. No dice. No one's hiring, and if they are, I get the answer of 'over-qualified for the job'. Seriously, what kind of answer is that, anyway? How can you be over-qualified to bag groceries, or stock shelves? A job is a job, man!

That being said, I know there's a lot of unemployed artists out there who, like me, can't seem to find work, and try to pay their bills through commissions. I wish I could be one of those kinds of artists, but I already owe too many as it is. Funny, you'd think with all the free time I have now, I'd be pumping out 3-4 commissions a day. I wish.

What I am going to do, however, is offer a cheap commission offer for everyone here. Sketches, like my sketch cards, are being offered for a low price of $5. For $5, I will sketch something nice for you (no more than two characters, please) in OpenCanvas. Plus, I will offer the option to have you watch me draw it in UStream. So if there's anyone who feels like helping me out a little, there's an option.

Also, take my advice, everyone out there who has a job already. Stay on your toes. I know you probably think your job is shit, and that you can find work elsewhere easily. You can't. Trust me on this. When you apply for work at a McDonalds and get turned down, you KNOW things are rough.

And that is my having to take my mother to see the new Harry Potter movie.

Now, myself, I'm not much of a fan of the whole Potter craze. Read the books, seen the movies, had to stare at some of the most god-awful fanart pieces I've ever seen...still not impressed. Yeah, the movies are rather entertaining to watch, but nothing I'd wave a wand at.

But, comparing this movie to the other films is like comparing a dry martini to a Bud Light. The whole film felt rushed, there was BARELY any action in it, and it felt like I was watching Teen Angst Hour. Yes people, I know it's the darker of the books. Yes, I know it's not supposed to be as bright and cheerful as the others. I get that. But seriously, did the movie HAVE to leave so many unanswered questions?

I felt like someone just plopped me in a chair, with promises of showing me proof of aliens, only to get a 5 second clip before being thrown out of the house with my jacket flipped over my head. I wanted more. MORE DAMN YOU!

1. I slept late. That's a rare thing for me, as I'm usually up everyday around 6-7 AM. I didn't wake up until 11 AM. Very very weird.

2. When we got to the theater, we ended up parking next to this old car with big-ass tires and rims. But the hilarious thing was that it's paint job had sparkles in it. Firechidna called it a Twilight car. We laughed for like 2 minutes. When we came back out of the theater, it was cloudy. And you couldn't see any sparkles on it. Another 2 minutes of lol.

3. The movie itself was epic. Nothing weird about that, right? Keep in mind that Fire is NOT a huge robot fan. For her to go see it, and days earlier to watch the first movie, is strange.

4. We get back home to see my mom watching breaking news. Michael Jackson died. Holy shit.

So yeah. Weird day. I'll miss you, Michael Jackson. As a child of the 80's, I'll always remember you. Rest In Peace.

ART UPDATE: I've been in a slump for awhile, trying to figure out what the hell I'm gonna do with my life. I'm not depressed or anything, just trying to think of where I want to take my art. Sure, being known for my hypno and robo art is nice and all, but I kinda want there to be something else. So I'm trying to figure that out.

My mother got Verizon DSL for her computer, and I'm dropping Comcast for it (mostly cause it's cheaper). They sent us the model, filters, blah blah. Everything hooks up to her computer, the net runs fine for her, all is well.

So, I go in there and hook in a Linksys BEFSR41 wired router. I get all the connections in, and no internet. Now I don't claim to be a know-it-all when it comes to networking, but I'm sure I did everything right. We used the router to get her computer to run Comcast cable. All I did was plug it in, reboot the modem, and it would work fine. Not so with DSL, it seems.

So can ANYONE help? Please?
