I find myself constantly fascinated by the way my mind works. I can be doing something utterly mundane, while time trudges by all too slowly. And then I'll come upon a thought having absolutely nothing to do with anything I've thought of in the past two weeks . . . though in this case that's a lie. (See below for further clarification)

For example, I was opening the wrapper of my delicious chocolate candy when I realized that the little "Thank you" Paper from Hershey's that lets you more easily open it, (and gives the candy their trademark personalities in the commercials) was missing.
Well, that had happened before, so I avoided having a panic attack. But it brought to mind a question:
What if, every time one of those paper wrapper "Thank You" thingies was found to be missing, a Mac user died (a subject which I'm constantly thinking about . . . see above for further clarification if you're confused).

Obviously, I couldn't let this possibility go without testing it, so I went back to my bag of candies to find another "Thank you" thingy-less wrapper. I didn't find one (mostly because anything is impossible to find if you start looking for it. And because I didn't really look that hard), But I removed the "Thank you" thing, wrapped back up the Hershey, then declared with due surprise that that said thing was missing (as that end part is all that really matters to the universe anyway). Then I ate it.

I didn't see anything happen though, and I don't have any Mac user friends I could call to see if they had spontaneously died. So I'll label this experiment as inconclusive (though if someone you know, who may or may not have been using a Mac at or around the time of this writing, fell fatally ill, let me know)

Oh and please don't think I just hate Mac users. I hate Linux and Windows users too. Except me. I'm on Windows Xp x64, so I'm exempted.

I'm surprised at myself. Given a journal I thought I'd make more use of expressing my opinions in it on a daily basis, (as few as they are). Maybe I should make an effort towards that goal . . .

Anyway, updated my gallery with another craptacular piece I'll try and do a better job on the model itself, if I ever get around to finishing it. I'll be starting at the Art Institute of Atlanta Oct 3rd, and it takes me awhile to get a model done, so I dunno if I'll have enough time.

Guy goes up to a hot dog stand, eats a dog, goes to continue his day. The following morning he wakes up vomiting, is rushed to the hospital and consequently dies. The cause? Well most people would say the hot dog, forgetting of course that there were a couple dozen other people who ate at that same stand and did not get sick and that the man who died probably had other meals and did other thinggs during the course of his day that could have been the cause of his untimely demise.
Despite this, these same people would vie to close down the hot dog stand; there's no basis in logic, just fear combined with ignorance (one of the most dangerous fusions over the course of history). There's no common link between the normal people and the man who died, just stupidity on the part of the scared people.
Now, if 500 hundred people had died, and it so happened that they all went to that hot dog stand that day, then we very likely cause.

People who don't like video games use this same backwards and twisted and fearful thinking in their arguments. Video games cause children to act violent. They cause children to kill. Therefore all video games should be banned. They're forgetting that millions of children play these same "violent" video games. Out of all of them, perhaps one or two gets it into his head to go off and rob a store, or commit suicide, or kill someone. What's to blame first? The game. Why? Well obviously that's the case, nevermind that these millions of other kids played the same game, the same or if not more times than your kid did. Nevermind that these other children have no problem keeping these "negative social urges" under control.

"It must be the game, it has to be because I'm the perfect parent and I can do no wrong!!"

There's a name I call these people . . well many names, but usually I call 'em dumb shits ('scuse my language). Another one I like is "Stupid parent".

Why is this thinking fostered? Well I have a theory. These parents are too stupid, or simply don't want to admit that they made a mistake, that they may have raised a messed up kid. It's also my theory that these same parents are the ones who sit by and let their child run all over the place, do what they want, get what they want, and are either scared or simply too busy (see: lazy, because a parents primary objective should be to guide that child since they brought it into the world, no matter how "little" time you have). These parents will blame every single thing on the planet earth for their childrens problem. The school system, the media, the games, the books, the comics, friends, every single thing under the sun. Except for themselves of course, and bar the cases where the kids had medically diagnosable mental problems, I'd be willing to bet every single thing I own that 999:1000 the parents are at fault!

What annoy's and appalls me isn't that they actually believe what they're saying, it's that such utter, complete numbskulls/idiots/fools/morons can actually influence what I enjoy not because of a failing on my part, but because a failing on theirs. It's like they're saying "Well we can't do it, so neither should you!" or "Well our kids are too dumb to play this, so yours must be too!" or here's my favorite "You're too feebleminded. If you play as someone killing people with chainsaws and mowing 'em over with cars in a game, then you'll get an irresisteble urge to act this out in real life."

And you know what really, really ticks me off? These same people who whine to the government to make them take away the "evil games" will turn a blind eye to the violence that children might see on the tv, or in the movies, or hell even on the News! I mean damn! If you're gonna do it, go all the way!

I literally feel like screaming! I feel like I could almost go in the backyard now and just knock down some poor tree or something!! And what's even worse is that these are the people who get to make the decisions in this country simply because they are a majority! It's just too damn sad to express in words!!

/end rant/

I'm sorry for this, but I just read something about another incident of "game violence", and it just infuriates it me that these fools will have yet another round of ammunition in their backwards arguments. I'm sorry if this by some off chance offends you, I'm just angry and venting so try not to take it personally.
