You might have noticed I've been uploading really slowly lately.

Big changes have been happening in my life in the past few months, for the best.

I'm getting ultra-busy, but everything I'm doing right now is bringing me closer to my professional goal. And nothing could make a man happier, I swear.

But that also means the time I can devote to drawing for myself has be considerably reduced. But fear not, for the time I can finally release the tons of pages of comics already fully drawn in my head will definitely come.

So, the Red Ball has ended for me. I feel like I'm finally taking my first deep breath after having been underwater since February. The deadline pressure had started to get to me a bit too much, I really feel relieved now it's finally over.

On the good side of things, I got to know so many people during these 2 rounds. I'd like to thank all those who have been supporting me until now. Your comments and encouragement have been my strength. I hope to keep you entertained with my next submissions.

On the bad side of things, I felt like it was such a shame to throw all this huge scenario I had been planning for months to the trashbin so quickly. But then Iris-Zeible courteously invited me to a duel, which solved the problem. I may not be able to draw everything I wanted, but at least I'll draw out the big idea in this fight.

Thanks again to everyone and good luck to those who are still up in the Red Ball, especially EternityHero & ShikakuSuika . You guys rock!

So, things are going... well so far with the next Red Ball round, except I think I won't have enough time to draw the intermission I wanted before the deadline, so there will be a gap in my storyline... oh well!

Comics take too much time to be drawn!! It's driving me crazy! >__<;;

Anyway, I want to seize the opportunity to thank all the people who have been supporting me and giving me feedback until now! You guys rock, and I'll do my best to keep improving my work for you!

Hopefully soon this year I'm gonna start this new comic I've been planning for the last two months.

It's going to be a new story about the Little Prince and all these new character designs I've been sketching. Stay tuned for more info.

1) How to upload a Profile/ID picture just below the "Devious Information" bar?
2) Why do the colors of deviations are so different in Photoshop and after you've uploaded them in DA? Is there any way to keep them the same?

Almost a month since I entered DA now!


Among the huge number of artists I've discovered, there is a bunch I completely fell in love with, namely:





These people's skills, lines, colors and style are just awesome.


Looking at professional work can sometimes be depressing.

But thinking that every professional has been a beginner first also gives you a fantastic will to try new things, new ways of expression, and it ends up making you improve a lot quicker than you thought you could.

Or at least it does for me.


Until a month ago, I was still what you could call a 'Monochrome Boy', whose universe was made of black and white.

In other words, when your pencil is your comfort zone, you get used to it so much that it becomes very hard to move to full coloring, or to draw with something else than a black line.

But by browsing other artists' galleries on DA, I discovered that this problem was actually shared by many artists.

However, at some point they knew they couldn't move on without pushing themselves to enter the color world, modify their works with PS or just try to do everything digitally.

So they just did.


And so did I now!


Thank you guys, you just open me up like a Coke can. *pop*


I would also like to share another thought that has been bothering me lately.


I would call it the 'Sketch Complex'.

It consists in thinking that the original sketch you did of your drawing always looks better than the finished work.

This point at which there was only pencil lines on your paper.

It was all dirty, rough, sketchy, but the possibilities were infinite.

It's like at this point, everything the drawing has to say has been said already, and the rest can be filled with the viewer's imagination.

At this point, the inspiration has been captured, but not imprisoned. It is not tamed yet! XD

You can still make it go anywhere, and that is up to you!

When you color your sketch and erase the pencil, it feels like there is only one way the drawing can take, and it is the one the artist decided to take. I think this lowers the art's value.

Maybe it's a weird thought, but I feel really concerned by it lately. How to preserve the original sketch feeling within the final work?

If anyone has an idea, please feel free to share it.


Also, Endling 's Tournament final round is happening on Sunday 9th! Don't miss it!

Though both finalists have done great, I have a crush on 's Climber.

First, I'd like to say thank you to all the people commenting and giving me feedback about my work. Your participation had already made DA a great experience for me.

For those who are wondering, here is a little more details about myself.

My artist name is Chris Trigger.

I just turned 27, and as a strange as it can sound, I am a musician rather than a pencil artist.

As far as my parents remember (I have very bad memory), I drew my first comic at the age of 6. I got into the manga & anime style very early, and it influenced the way I drew ever since. By the time many people were starting to say I should consider entering an art school and become a professional, I had also developed a very strong interest towards music, and wasn't sure which one to base my life on.
I carried on drawing until I was around 21-22. Then, I decided to stop completely and devote my life to music.

I haven't changed my mind yet, and my band is still my first priority now.

However, lately I came across Endling's 'Ever After' comic, his art, his world and lately 'Endzone', the OC Tournament he organized. I don't know exactly what happened, but it moved something inside me, and made me want to draw again.

And now here I am in DA.

And it feels so good, like reconnecting with a part of me I loved, but I had just decided to shut away for some stupid reason.

I love the atmosphere of the DA community, the mutual help, support and love everyone gives to each other out here. The skill level is just so high as well! Of course, it's you against the world!

Seeing so many great artists makes you want to improve, gives you new ideas and pushes you to go further.

And this is just the beginning. The future can only be even better.

Inspiration might just be the greatest gift ever. Make the most of it!
