Does anyone Maltese know where I can develop photos from an SD card?

I need to find a shop ASAP, preferably one that doesn't take a lot of money cause I have quite a lot to print.

If the shop is somewhere in Sliema, St.Julian's, San Gwann, Valletta or Gzira the better cause I won't have to go far, and I won't get lost

I've heard there's one in PV, but I still haven't gone to check yet (no time >_< .... does anyone know of another? It's a little urgent.

To buy a DSLR is still not doing too well.

I need money. I need a job.
So far... haven't managed to get my hands on either.

I was going to cry in Italy when I saw Nikon DSLRs between 400 and 650 Euro. I was crying because the same models from Malta were over 1050 last I saw them...

I would have sold my soul to buy them when I saw them..... but I didn't have the cash. Not there at least. I've almost given up all hopes of getting a new cam anyway. I need too many things right now to be able to afford a new camera anyways. I should start to save up for a car now... not waste money on things like a camera... even if that's what I really want.

I can't seem to get a break though. Can't even get my hands on a damn job. (Maybe cause I was a little picky when it came to sending out CV's)

To make matters worse, things I already have are breaking -__-
Like just recently, my laptop battery died. It refused to work anymore.
The next day.... the laptop charger refused to work too... leaving me no choice. I had to go buy a new one. But the batt is still not affordable to replace right now. frikken 120 Euro for a batt is a lot.

But I'll look on the bright side. I got to use my Uncle's Nikon D300 the other day. Couldn't stop snapping. He must have thought I was insane, but I wanted that moment to last forever. Pity I could only use it for a few hours in the morning. I'd have loved to try and take a conceptual shot with it. But it's not mine... I'm lucky to have had the chance to try it out. Now if only I could afford one of my own *sigh*

Well... I guess I'll just have to keep wishing.

Been wracking my brain trying to figure out some situations. I'm knackered.
Ironically, neither of these situations I'm trying to understand are my own.

I'm just so amazed how well people can take things, or how well they manage to hide their pain. Though I'm more likely to be surrounded with good actors, or so it seems.

ugh... I probably confused you too now.

To put things simply, approximately 4 of my friends are in terrible situations, some of which are irreparable... and these people go on with their lives as if nothing is happening, and don't share their problems with others that might be able to help. I felt like a crybaby next to these people since I find it hard to act normal when something that bad happened to me, no matter how hard I suppress it. There have been cases where I was that convincing, but I know no good can come out of bottling your feelings.

I'm worried
I want to help, even if I have my own burdens.
I want these people to know I'm there if they need me, and my problems can go to hell, they need the help more than me right now. But I'm afraid they're not sharing because they're concerned about burdening others. ugh... I don't know what to do
It kills me to see these people in pain as they stay silent.
I wish I could help...

Any ideas what I could do?

First thing I did on the way was stop at a bazaar to see the stuff they were selling. While there, as I was looking at some toys, I heard a scream from inside the room and someone running outside quickly. I heard another scream and the screeching of tires. The people inside quickly looked out the door to see a lady (who was previously paying for her purchases)yelling in fear to her grandson (who ran out into the middle of the street without anyone noticing... and yes he ran out, he was just next to her the second before... it wasn't a case where she was just too busy to notice him leave). The people inside were scared half to death cause they were sure he was going to get run over. (The kid was about 9 years old, but mentally challenged, judging from the way he was acting)His grandmother managed to pull him out of the way just in time (whilst holding a picture frame of the sacred heart of Jesus... wow). One guy grabbed him yelling "God really loves you!!! Did you even SEE how close that car was to you?!". It really was a close call.

But we walked on... bought the jeans... and caught a bus home.

Then something else had to happen......

Just as we were exiting the bus and walking towards a zebra crossing, some guy stopped to ask if we were interested in a harbour cruise (he thought we were tourists). He then joked with us and left, while we turned to cross the road. I stopped my mother from crossing to state that it would be safer to actually go to the zebra crossing we were originally headed to and we started walking towards it. As soon as we started walking, some guy on a typically Maltese horse carriage started yelling "WOAH WOAAHHHHH" as his horse ran right across that zebra crossing...and the guy fell off the carriage as the horse started running out of control...

The carriage wheel went right across the guy (who was in shock and pain on the floor).. the carriage fell and the horse slipped and slid across the road... both the guy and the horse got back up quickly and many people who were watching ran to help the guy stop the mad horse. I was almost sure the guy was as good as dead since the horse missed him by millimeters and the wheel went right over him... but he surprisingly got back up and ran to the horse. In the meantime, the cars that were passing by almost ran into us with fear of the horse. Had the carriage not toppled over, the horse was going to run straight into us.

Tourists gathered round taking pictures like crazy... while about 8 men tried to untie the carriage and sedate the horse.

And what luck.... I had no camera of my own.


Yeah ok... screwed up priorities. I'm still shaking from the fear of having that horse run all over us... and we would have probably been in the way had that cruise guy not stopped us.

But I wish I had my camera... it's not something you see everyday.

So this week, the colour I picked wasn't originally going to be blue. But that's what I felt today... Blue. I might as well feature the colour of my present mood. Those of you who are wondering why I'm feeling blue, you're better off not knowing... trust me.

I received an awfully sweet note today, and I must say it really made me smile. I've been having a bit of bad luck these past few weeks, and I was pretty worried that I'd pass negative comments due to my bad mood. But thanks to this note, I realised how wrong I was. Erm... sorry for being so inactive... way too many assignments.

I set up a new blog to post some of my short stories if anyone is interested. They are my 66 word stories (yeah I know a lot of people have done something similar, like 50 words or 100 words for each story.... but I started writing them and realised that 3 of them were exactly 66 words..... therefore I kept the pattern)
I was not trying to imitate anyone, and each story is originally thought up by me (if it is similar to another story you might have heard, it's purely coincidental)

Also, these have been written for quite some time now, and the only reason I decided to post was cause ~4th-guy encouraged me to. So remember to thank him if you really enjoy my stories

OK.. I'm just gonna cut to the chase........
WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!

Ok... so lemme explain a bit.
I volunteer with a group called "Third World Group" and recently, we had a loss of volunteers. What happened was that many of the people couldn't keep attending because of studies, work or because they went abroad. So we only have about 8 volunteers currently.

Now we're looking for someone who would be interested in helping children and people who have social problems. The project focuses on the children though. If anyone is up for it.. and would like to help PLEASE contact me (I'll give you my phone number if necessary)

This takes place once a week and the maximum number of children reaches around 50. (but it's quite rare to have all of them attend at once)

After working my butt off to study for exam resits... going through all the crap of moving house... going through all the emotional shit my parents dish out on a daily bases........and having to live in a squalid, smelly, filthy, pathetic excuse for a house with people I just can't tolerate.... I fucking give up.

I'm tired of getting yelled at for having a messy room (HELLO!!!!!!!!!!! I have the things of two large rooms crammed into a tiny-ass room that can barely accommodate the furniture, let alone my stuff!)..... and I'm tired of venting my anger with ~4th-guy . He's had enough of my shit... and he has his own things to worry about at the moment. (really sorry for always venting on you angel )

So excuse me for ranting here all the time... but if I have to listen to my parents complaining ONE MORE TIME... I swear I'm gonna go apeshit and trash this fucked up house for good!

I was told I'm being a drama queen. Seriously, I DON'T CARE. Since when is complaining about something being a drama queen? Geez, there's Myspace for that (which btw, not only do I hate myspace, but I wouldn't create an account if someone paid me to!)

Sunday, 13th July, 4.00pm-11.00pm, entrance free

A festival celebrating the richness of different cultures will be held at the Argotti Gardens in Floriana on Sunday, 13th July from 4.00pm till 11.00pm.

The main attraction of Collage will be a concert held by several bands but also features art exhibitions, drum workshops and traditional Maltese and African food. A discussion forum will be held and thirteen Maltese non-governmental organisations will be promoting their work.

Collage, whilst displaying aspects of different cultures, also aims to offer a glimpse into how a number of global issues such as migration, racism, free trade and war are affecting, directly and indirectly, countries the world-over, including Malta.

This festival is being organised by Third World Group with the help of several other NGOs. Entrance will be free but donations in support of social projects run by the TWG mainly in Malta will be greatly appreciated.

Collage kicks off at 4.00pm where a number of artists will be exhibiting their work and some others will be performing live art sessions. At 5.30pm a series of drum workshops on traditional African djembes will be led by Mark Abela from Zizza Ensemble and Peter Paul from Tribali. These are open for all ages and drums will be provided.

A public forum will be held at 6.30pm and is inspired by the poem called “Biljett Miftuħ” by journalist and writer Karl Schembri, which suggests the fact that due to the frequent interaction between persons from different cultures and ways of life, a person has almost become a ‘citizen of the world’, adopting traditions and practices from more than one culture. The theme of the forum draws from the poem but will also focus on what kind of impact the presence of other ethnicities is having on Malta.

The speakers at the forum come from different academic backgrounds and work in different fields, guaranteeing a stimulating discussion. Anthropologist Dr Mark-Anthony Falzon lectures in the Department of Anthropology and the Department of Sociology at the University of Malta; lawyer Dr Katrine Camilleri is an expert on refugee law and works closely with asylum seekers; journalist and writer Karl Schembri, and Mr. Michael Grech who teaches Philosophy at the University of Malta Junior College and edited the book Knisja tat-Triq, who will be chairing the forum.

For those who might be peckish during the evening, a variety of traditional foods will be prepared. Eritrean and Somali foods will provide that spicy touch and complement Maltese platters with home made ingredients. There will also be a stall of Fair Traded products from around the world by Koperattiva Kummerċ Ġust of the world shop L-Arka, and Koperattiva Rurali Manikata will be selling organic, locally grown fruit and wine.

During the evening at the Argotti Gardens, an exhibition by local and foreign artists, including Rupert Cefai and CS Lawrence, will give more colour to the event.

The concert starts at 8.00pm and will be presented by Norma Saliba and Mark Caruana. The bands performing include the Big Band Brothers, with their eclectic mix of jazz and funk music; Walter Micallef, with his engaging lyrics; Shilloo’s Tree, a young band playing original funk rock songs; and Mark Galea with an interlude of instrumental guitar music. The concert will also feature powerful short movies from “media that matters” that provide insight about ongoing issues of strife and injustice happening around the world that are far away, yet too close for comfort.


The Third World Group, set up in 1974, is a national voluntary non-governmental and not-for-profit organization based in Malta that is active on a regular basis among communities in Malta and abroad, mainly organizing educational and recreational programmes for children. In 1997, the Government of Malta awarded the Third World Group first prize in its “National Recognition: Youth in Society.”

The Group has also done voluntary work in Tunisia, and with the Missionaries of Charity of Mother Teresa in Palermo, Naples, Noto, Vittoria, Reggio Calabria, and London; and more recently in Cairo, Alexandria and Moquattam in Egypt, and in Jimma and Alamatta in Ethiopia.

I mean ok... it's my fault for not having the mature content filter on... but that's only because I hate the big ugly "mature content" filter image.

I find this offensive. Why?
Cause I think that someone purposely flashing their crotch is porn. Whoever disagrees... then sorry... I don't care. But if you go to any porn site and find a similar image, then do try and come up with good reasons for not calling this particular piece porn.

If that is the case... porn sites should be renamed art sites. Meh.

Seriously.... I give up.

I'm so fucking sick of all my friends. Yes... you heard me. Sick of my friends. If they can even be called that. Every time we plan something, they always cancel in the last second.

This was the last straw.

They were the ones who planned it. And I made time for them so that we can go swimming. Now swimming is my favorite past time EVER. Even more than playing sports, computer games and net browsing. They know how important swimming is to me. Yet every time I'm sick, they still go without me. Dang, even when we planned a movie... they went without me. (like they couldn't wait a bloody day or two). But that isn't why I'm mad.

This is the reason:
Just cause ONE of them is sick... then the whole fucking group didn't want to go. A group of 6 people.... and just cause one is sick... they don't go. Had it been me... they would have gone anyway.... it wouldn't be the first time...(or second... or third....or fourth..........)

And this summer... they know that we're not going to have time for swimming. I for one won't even be in Malta for 3 weeks, I probably have resits to study for, I'll be moving house, and I have a lot of fund raisers to help in.... all the others have jobs. So today was going to be my first, and probably last swim of the summer... and they fucked it up.

If any of you are reading this... then Congrats. Cause of this little stunt, you ruined everything. I'm never planning anything with you guys again. Oh and next time... if you were gonna cancel... CANCEL FROM BEFORE A FUCKING HALF HOUR TO MEETING TIME ..... I HAD ALREADY BEEN WAITING FOR YOU!

Yes........ I'm VERY VERY pissed off. I would have gladly gone by myself... except there are always a bunch of sick perverts lurking and I wasn't about to put up with that.

I'm sick of ruining my time for you muppets.

alex is the shit. not much else to say. she's like my best friend. in real life and on dA too. she's been with me since the beginning of my photography trip. hell, she was one of the first watchers on my first account. i love her. strictly platonic of course, but damn. she is one of the biggest rockstars i have ever met. a bad mofo without a doubt




jerry is one of my best friends, he's the one who introduced me to the world of photography and to deviantART as well. he's a real rockstar too. not really, but he's a total badass. he's a doctor. and a dashing special agent. with a PhD in kicking your ass





simmy won my last contest. she's half british and half maltese. she lives in malta and takes amazing photos. whenever i am homesick for my adopted homeland i go to her gallery and i can almost smell the sea. yeah, simmy is a total rockstar.





magda is a friend who's been around almost from the very beginning of my photography days. she is from krakow, poland and she is a bad mofo too. she has been away from dA for quite a few months but has recently returned. that made me so happy so i just had to have her judge this contest.







jules is relatively new to my friends list. she thinks her photos aren't good enough to be part of the contest. i argued with her because i think they are, but ultimately she volunteered to 'help with the contest in any way she could' so i asked her to be a judge. she agreed. she lives in the philippines. the same place where my poor, transient parents live so that's pretty cool. and despite her opinion her photos are brilliant.

Bottom line.... I feel ignored.

Seriously, am I really that dispensable?

Lately I've felt like nothing I do is enough for anyone. I'm living, breathing Wallpaper.
For example....
I'm going through exams... and most people I know are stressed, just like me. But why is it that I'm being the one left out of everything, despite that I try so hard to keep things together?
A good example would be that whenever I enter school...... people don't ask how I am... but how my bf is. I met an old teacher, and she didn't ask how I was doing... but how my friend was doing.

And now... my friends are doing it to me. The only people that I trust have also made me feel this way. I tried to comfort some because they had exam stress... and didn't even get as much as a "thank you" or "good luck for your exams" ..... one of my best friends even told me to pass on a message, that to me, sounded a lot like "I don't care about you... just make sure your friend comes". And now... my best friend.... has ignored my attempt to comfort him... and ignored me to a further extent.

I don't want to whine... but that last one hurt. And it wouldn't hurt as bad usually... but after going through so much.... I feel worse than lonely.
I feel totally ignored....

and my parents did nothing to help what-so-ever. (in fact they made it worse)

I need a hug. I seriously need a hug. Been hugging a pillow for 45 mins... and I still don't feel good.

Hmm... I have a little theory going on in my head....

I've noticed that a lot of famous deviants (won't mention any names in particular) have been producing lamer... and lamer .... and LAMER works every time they submit something. The funny thing is these people get thousands of faves for the shittiest of their works.

I'll give you an example...
This piece of work probably took less than 5 mins to make.... yet the person currently has 2539 comments.... and 8883 faves.

BUT.... These are the comments...

1. First! Now shut up
2. blah blah blah
3. Hooray! I can has a 3rd place!
4. 1695th!!!! yyyayaaayyy! >_>
5. Damn you beat me!
6. leeeeeech. Funnehh o:
7. wahaha...I don't care I'm just extremely bored at the moment

9. woohoo! I actually watched it intil my eyes went funny! if it keeps flying like that its going to be burned by the atmosphere going into space.


This was just the first page of ONE of this deviant's 381 submissions.
Makes me wonder.... someone with that little submissions.... has 4,080,566 Pageviews.... has 50,809 watchers and then gets THOSE comments.... for really crap art....

wow... I should start making crap art more often.

Not only that... but note... that the comments were ALL replies to the comment above theirs. NONE actually replied to the actual deviation... and again NONE actually referred to, or at least mentioned the piece of art itself.

I'm not saying I hate the artist. In fact sometimes I find his work pretty funny. But It's still HORRIBLE quality work and all the comments are leeched.

If that was me I'd totally disable comments.


This really makes me lose hope in humanity. People don't know how to appreciate art anymore it seems.
Then you find sooooo many wonderful deviants with barely 200 page views that have enough talent to bury these untalented populars.

And now... I have even more proof.

Don't get me wrong here... I love and appreciate every single fave that I get and I thank everyone who faved.... but I noticed that my most faved piece of work also happened to be the piece of work I spent the least time on. I had to prepare nothing and it took aprox 3 mins to make. Yet the pieces of work that I try hard and dedicate time to, don't have nearly HALF of the faves I got for the quickest piece. Meh... I don't know.

Is the latest pic I posted not that good? Or perhaps it looks a bit too much like an advertisement for Cadbury?
I just got the feeling that not many people liked it. So I want to see why so as not to repeat the mistake.

As the title suggests... I'm not ok.

I hate how life is at the moment.
I hate how politics is ruining my life....

I hate how because of it:

1. my friends and I are fighting....
2. some friends stopped talking to me
3. nobody takes jokes anymore
4. nobody respects other people's opinions (specially mine)
5. I can't sleep cause of the endless car horns beeping to celebrate a win
6. the people with no vote are the ones fighting with me (like it was my fault their political party lost)
7. secrets are being kept from me
8. wrong ideas about me are spreading
9. how every conversation turns into an argument
10. how I can't stop crying (foxx il-politika......)
11. How because of my parents I'm doomed to listen to all the bullshit about politics....
12. how people relate songs I like to political parties

I think you get the idea


I'm sick of it. The elections are over and yet somehow, people can't accept the results.

It's not my fault somebody won, and somebody else lost

I hate always ending up in tears... and I don't want to fight with anyone over this.

This sucks.

So as the title suggests, I've been tagged again^^
This time by ~Money-Tree.

So.... here goes......

1. The one thing I simply can't stand is the smell of cigarette smoke. Seriously, don't come within a 5 meter radius of me if you're smoking!

2. I get distracted easily *looks at a passing by mosquito*.........

3. I hate Java (programming)

4. I will try anything once....(except smoking and/or drugs)

5. I'm female.... but I love comics, computers, horror flicks, gore filled games, messy sports... and basically every non-girly thing that exists. Yes... I'm somewhat of a tomboy.

6. I want a motor bike. A really fast, mind numbing motor bike. The kind that would probably be too heavy for me to lift up if it ever tipped over. (yes I'm weird.... I know)

7. I get this unbelievable urge to by stuff every time I enter a stationary, gadget shop or book store. But I dread shoe shopping, clothes shopping or shopping for food that doesn't involve chocolate.

8. Surprisingly, I make more friends than I actually would want to. I sometimes find myself asking why some people actually talk to me. Some people are still my friend even when I clearly hint they're annoying me.... O_o.... but yeah whatever... the more the merrier I guess.

Ok... I felt that I needed to post this before posting my recent photo binge. Before you all start hating me for posting a lot of pictures with the same theme, I thought it was only appropriate to explain why.

A great artist =aksdareflection has decided to create these challenges. This month's theme was "Love".

When I first read his journal [link] I thought that this would be easy... but I was wrong.
I had some very good ideas, but they seemed impossible to get since I don't have the proper equipment. Also, I was going through a lot of stress and lost every form of inspiration I had. My ideas seemed pointless and much less suitable to post here on DA. So I kept trying.

In retrospect, I think I was judging myself too harshly as I now actually like a few of them.

I will be posting all my ideas here, and the final piece at the end, to show the progress I've made.

I'm glad to say that one event has caused me to regain my inspiration... Lets hope it pays off.

ok I think I managed to pick my fave pic to submit for the challenge. I think it's going to be the first one i.e Love: Love hurts

If anyone has a better suggestion, do tell.

You would think "oh great... another sob story.... boohoo.... suck it up and get over it"..... but I'm past sobbing and moaning.... and no... I have no intention of killing myself dw....

But I can't wait to get out of this godforsaken place and rid myself of this cursed house... and it's equally cursed family.

The day started off really well... despite my having a horrible 2 weeks previous to it....
And I thought my luck was finally getting better....

But lo.. I was wrong.....

reason? hmm... lets see... I simply asked a tiny question.. and what response did I get? I got blasphemy, swearing, threats, having my life literally in danger (since there was a rampaging maniac behind the steering wheel) and last but not least, him breaking the door key inside the lock.... more swearing... mum crying.. and me dreading the day I was born. What's new?

I can't seem to think straight anymore... and my friends can't really help.

My photo ideas have been getting worse... and my good ideas seem near impossible to execute.

Oh ... and if there is anyone Maltese out there that knows where to get Liquid Latex.. you would be helping me in at least a tiny way.
