Now some more important & interesting stuff!

1.] Now for all of you technical fetishists - I have completed prototype of my first 2 channel completely discreete amplifier. For years I have heard, that integrated amplifiers aren`t bad... for their price, but that complete discreete solutions are often better by far. So, after nearly six years, I have decided that it is time for me to construct a new hell-machine. And this time, absolutelly without any compromises! So I went to the web and searched how are power aplifiers designed today, I have red thousands of discussions and opinions and come to only one conclusion - it is just a matter of opinion. Where power is so high & distortion so low, it really just comes down to your own taste - mosfets? bjts? tubes? pure class a? So I have decided to build something great, high-quality but well known and tried - the modified Leach Amp. Now at last, built from scratch with over-rated high quality components & connected to temporary power source, it just blew my mind.

The sound is completely out of this world, I have never heard anything even close to this - even our H/K AV reciever can`t play this precise, the stereo field & imaging of instruments is perfect. Hearing piano or guitar is totally different experience, even on my small 10W test-speakers. This said - I won`t let all of this 2x250W/4ohm [with literally no distortion, <0,02%] monster drive only my old sluggish 10W speakers. So I have decided to build a new pair of speakers - again, from scratch with high quality components. These will be probably the biggest speakers I have ever owned or constructed - but frequency range from 30Hz to 35kHz with sensitivity of 91dB+ will surely make all the money & time spent with this project worth my while ;>

Rant-PS: I have olso fixed some old amplifier for my friend - it is good to see, that even if this very old PA can`t compete with the modern professional ones, it is still by far better then all of those PC speakers no matter the price. The way I see it, home audio has been going downhill for some years now - we have maybe modern components, we maybe have new digital audio formats, but that does not mean that it sounds better, right?...

My Dragoness is probably going to kill me for this x.x! But can someone be blamed for their dreams? I am sure they can be btw ^.^...

2.] That said, I have also began work on a new version of web for our Dragon comunity. I can`t give you any details right now, but it will be totally different experience for the members - hopefully, at least some of our ideas will make it into the final version and deliver new user experience for all of the members, but we will have to see...

And last but not least, Cardhalia 2 is back on the track with more advanced graphics and finally some sounds, music & environments. Pack #3 will be a huge step into the right direction and hopefully, new packs will follow soon!

3.] And finally, I wish to thank my dear Dragones for her neverending support, great hollidays and also for the inspiration to do all of this - because to be honest, without her, everything would be just... so empty, so meaningless. *gives her a BIG HUG & KISS* You know I love you Dragarta, right? ^.^

Just a little reminder, that we still exist. Yesterday, I wrote a small exception-handling routine, which will help us debug our game once it will be made public - all you will need to do is send this "minidump" to us by mail and we will immediately see where and how the exception was raised, very handy indeed. Also, it has not yet been determined, but there will probably be some sort of "closed" public beta program for small group of beta-testers in the later developement stage, simply because this game is so huge and complex that a bunch of developers and their friends cannot try everything to find all the bugs.

Also, this game will probably be the first of our games to be published in both Czech and English language, which adds another load of work for our huge team consisting of three people, from which only two are working "fulltime" [read: in their free time after work], I do not need to add that myself will be responsible for all of the translations, ugh. But we are not giving up, last week was very rewarding in the sense of developement, I nearly completed the rendering & sound systems. Rendering system can now render to texture, use different complex effects, render more accurately and 100+ other new things you-do-not-care-about. Sound system can now apply effects to sounds such as echo, flanger, distortion, reverb and so on - it can also stream Vorbis in real time, which will be very handy for music [yes, original music is also included this time] and maybe dialogues [i am kind of thinking about that one still - but maybe it will come true].

I could talk about other things such as the scripting system, RPG system, a whole bunch of new features [which will be pain in the ... to implement of course, but what the heck] and so on - but I will talk about this later, maybe in other journals. So I just wanted to say, things are comming well...

Of course, I doubt that anyone at all is reading my journals on DA, but that is kind of the point, thank you all...

Ah, at last! Finally my soul feels so free from everything and relaxed again, I think everybody knows that feeling, you know, when you think you can change the wrold, do literally anything - and you actually can?...

School is in my way again, but this time, I will try to make no mistakes and win, I have enough experience now [at least I hope that is the case] and that makes me more confident and focused than ever before. Maybe not enough confident to take away my nightmares when I fall sleep, but hey - it is just plain old me afterall. What made me so happy? Well, I am doing again the most beautiful thing I actually can do - developing something new, something, where I can trully express myself as an artist and programmer, where I can realize at least some of my dreams and visions, where I can create my own world and let someone see, what I feel, where I can create something from nothing...

Yes, I am talking about our upcoming freeware RPG game called Cardhalia 2 - It is simple, put your emotions, visions, your hearth and feelings into a tin, then apply stress, countless months of dreamless nights, endless frustration, blood & sweat and then - voila, your dreams will come true. It is not probably the easiest or best way to be honest, but I think it is the only one, which is pure & true - and the results are the most pleasing feelings I have ever felt, except for Love itself. You can never have the more rewarding experience, when all of the fans and professionals from the industry show a sign of compliment for your work, gives you their thanks and appreciations... words can`t really describe this, you must live through it to understand.

So, what will be next on our endless journey - who knows, but life tought me one thing and that is most certain - It will be one hell of a ride, I can promise you that.

!! Tech. fetish warning !!

It is here at last! After months, we are again working on sequel to our 'old' RPG game called 'Cardhalia' - and this time, it`s for real. It took almost a year of preparation work, drawing, collecting inspiration and enthusiasm - but we are back on the track and stronger than ever. Everything will be completely rewritten in C++ this time and full power of DirectX 9.0c will be used, which for me as a programmer is very exciting. New untested but promising technologies will used and hopefuly many many more. There is a for sure great deal of work ahead of us, but great times when our fantasies will be fullfiled also! Months of fake 'wine', headaches, 'unsolvable' problems and selfrealization! ^.^

Especially for this opportunity, I realized that none of my old workstations here is good enough for this noble task. So after a very long time, I once again started building a whole new one - it`s not completed yet but I already have a 3Ghz dualcore and 2Gigs of RAM at my disposal, which I need not to say is really a great amount of horsepower for just about anything. More will come soon, then I will turn myself away from the 'real' world and build my own one, once again - really exciting times ahead!

In the mean time, I am planning to help my dearest Dragoness with her webpages, which I am really looking forward to. I will do my best to make them look amazing and inspiring, because that is what most of todays websites lack - atmosphere, character. They are just plain, dull, all the same and that must siply change! [at least I hope] ^.^

Everything is ahead of us! Fortunatelly, I am not alone in this huge amount of work - please, wish us luck!
