1. The theme of the contest is BDSM fetish pinups. If you're not sure what that means, Google it and prepare to be amazed.

2. There must be at least ONE Namek in the picture! After all we ARE a Namek fan community. Canon AND original characters are welcome.
3. The contest begins as of now and the deadline is Monday, April 2nd, with the results to be announced on Saturday, April 7th.

4. ALL ENTRIES ARE TO BE SENT IN TO NAMEKSEI.NET. This is important, because the entries will be anonymously posted in our fan gallery and voted on there. If you're NOT a member and you're interested in looking, hie thee on over and join up. The contest entries WILL NOT be posted on DA. There's been way too much asshattery going on here as of late and the last thing we want is a bunch of idiots screaming "OH NOES!!! PROOOON!!!" and running to the mods to have us banned. Okay, here's the lowdown, folks. I would like to offer a TREMENDOUS apology for the club being all but DEAD for the last 4-5 months. >< I was taking fifteen hours over the semester and dealing with a home and two kids pretty much all by myself. My hubby's in the army and he's away more than he's home, so I'm the mom and the dad most of the time. Again... Sooooooo sorry guys. ><

Now... *pushes aside abject grovelling*

1: Clan Daimaou: I'd like to get the club back up and going as I know all the old (and probably a lot of new!) Piccolo fans are still lurking about DA. Any suggestions and such would be helpful. I'm also considering a second co-admin as my normal co-admin has a lot on her plate at the moment too. If anyone is interested, please send me a note. Tell me what a great Piccolo fan you are and what you can do to help the club out and if you have time to help out. ^^

2: Nameksei.net: IS BACK UP!!!!! I'm still doing some fine tuning and there's tweaks that need to be made, but the site is back up and open for submissions both fanfiction and fanart. We have a forum for the discussion of all things Namek related as well as journals and private messaging available. There's a lot of cool stuffs there and I'd love to see Nameksei.net become a vibrant hub for all the Namek fans desperately searching the internet for green goodness!

Again, as with Clan Daimaou here on DA, Nameksei.net will need some people to serve as moderators to help out when I don't have the time. I will need at least one mod for the fanfiction archives, the fanart gallery and the forum. If you're interested, again, drop me a note and strike up a convo with me.

For those who are curious and have asked, we're setting July 23rd as the cut off date for entries in the Nameksei.net Mascot Contest. The reason it's so far away is because I'm in the process of moving from one state to another, so that's going to be consuming my time for the next month or so. And it gives folks a while to work on their entries. ^^

Secondly... the Clan Slave and I have been kicking around the idea of opening up a lil Cafe Press shop to raise a bit of funds for site maintenence and such. I dislike the idea of asking for donations, because if you guys give us fundage, you should get something tangible back. I know that there are people who don't really like CafePress, but I don't know of any alternatives. Any questions, opinions or suggestions would be more than welcome! Contest TIME!!!!


Once again, we're going to be holding a contest once again. And this time, its a wee bit different. We're not gonna hold the Traditional Holiday contest right now- oh no- ...we got something much better.

This is important folks.

We need mascots.

That's right, not one...but two.

Nameksei is finally up and running once again, but its surprisingly bare, and we need to jump some LIFE into it. ^^. So, what I'm asking from our wonderful members- is for you to draw us a pair of mascots.

Male, and female namekusejins.

Here's our reasoning- we need a pair of mascots because the namekusejin population is not just comprised of males- we have females- especially in the fanon realm. I point to *xxdhxx 's Himegami- a wonderfully grounded and fleshed out character, as well as Aya, Mai, Oboe, Yanna, and the like. So it would be sort of sexist to just have it all inclusive for males only.

And come on, lets face it- it would be just a bit boring for just men ^_~

Not to mention, we're trying to blend new- with the old.

So here's our stipulations- and there aren't alot.

-- Rules--

1. Must be male and female.
2. The male must wear traditional namekusejin costume- for reference- see Piccolo, Dende, Neru- etc. Female clothing must be your own doing, and your own style and imagination.
3. If you use another's fan-character, permission must be provided, after all- I don't want to find out someone has encroached on someone else's territory- that's rude, and also reasons for banning.
4. All forms of medium are accepted, as long as we can put it on the site.
5. Keep it PG please, after all- this is what our members are going to see on the site, and possibly the front page.
6. Once a deadline has been reached, please do not submit your entries late- they will not be counted.
7. If there are any problems that you find on the site, please either note the Admin, or send her an email- we can't fix it if we aren't told that its broken.


Right now this contest is still forming- so a deadline hasn't been set as of yet, but we will update you on both the deadline, and prizes. And this contest is supposed to be fun, so I really do hope you enjoy yourselves, and let the creative juices flow!!!

I found a mod for the phpNuke board and installed it, so now there's no confirmation email needed. All you have to do is register as normal, fill in all the information and your account is immediately activated! ^___^

I went with eFiction v2.0.4 for our new fanfiction archives and it's looking really good. It doesn't allow the uploading of .doc files, but it does allow .txt and .html. If you're using word, you can easily save your fic as an html file and load it right up. It has a lot of interesting features which include round robin fics, uploading pictures with fics, a section for challenge fics as well as search capabilities and a top ten list!

I went back to the phpNuke board for our community area. I've tried others but the phpNuke is the easiest and offers the most features.

I haven't gotten the art gallery back up yet, I'm still looking at scripts for that one but as soon as I get it back up, you guys will be the first to know!

I wish there was a way to intergrate all the different areas so that you wouldn't have keep logging back in, but unfortunately, I'm just not that good at writing script mods.

One last thing... I'd like to update the welcome page (the first page on the site) and I was thinking about running a contest to pick a new background. Any thoughts on that? That said, I've decided to just revamp Nameksei.net, as I've not had much luck in fixing those damnable mySQL database problems. If there's anyone out there who knows anything about SQL and would be willing to dispense some advice, by all means, get in touch with me! I'm desperate for some help.

Also, I was wondering what sort of things you guys would like to see on the site? I know the majority of you will start screaming "Better fic archive!!" I'm looking around now for a script for that. Again, any suggestions would be helpful.

The art gallery will be recreated from scratch as well. Sorry to everyone who'd previously posted art there.

I've already started working on a new PHP-Nuke board for the community, and I'll let everyone know when that's up and running.

Don't worry about that one... it was pretty much a small rant.

Here's the long and short of it, folks. The server that Nameksei.net was on fubar'd. The host company replaced the hard drive and restored most of the data. Unfortunately, the mySQL snafu hasn't been fixed yet. What this means is that the fic archive, the art gallery and the community databases are still there, we're just lacking the means to access them.

SO...

We can do one of three things, and I'm leaving this up to the community at large.

One: We can wait a little while longer and see if my host server manages to get the mySQL problem fixed.

Two: I can create an all new archive, art gallery and community and we can start from scratch.

Three: Nothing at all.

Now, what happens depends on all of YOU. Yes, that's right, the fate of Nameksei.net is now in the hands of the general public. If you all want the site to continue, then I need support and feedback. If I don't get any replies to this, I'm going to assume that no-one gives a rat's @$$ any more and I'm going to shut the site down. I created Nameksei.net because of all the people I knew who complained about all the Piccolo/Namek fansites going down. Well, now I'm beginning to understand why they started shutting down.

If you want the site to continue, then reply and let me know what you would like to see done! Send the journal link to other Piccolo/Namek fans you know that might not be club members, tell them to reply!

It's all up to you guys. Make the call.


Edit: Just for clarification, moving to a different host isn't really an option. I took advantage of a special time offer my host was having and I got a lifetime membership. I paid a one time fee (a hundred bucks, for the curious) and I now have lifetime hosting. If I move to another server, I'd have to start paying monthly or yearly fees, and I just can't monitarily afford to do that. Until now it's been a pretty good host so this hasn't been a problem.

The only way I could move to another host would be if people started chipping in on expenses. And frankly, I don't see that happen. We're looking for WALLPAPERS this time around and our theme is ROMANCE in honor of the upcoming Valentine's Day holiday! ^^

The rules are as follows...

1. NO screencaps. Original artwork, please.
2. Any pairing is acceptable... Yaoi, yuri, het... so long as it's romantic. ^^
3. Let's keep it at a PG-13 level, please. We have some underage club members so let's keep that in mind.
4. Minimum resolution is 800x600 and maximum resolution is 1210x1024. (some of us have large monitors. )

Standard Operating Procedure for submissions. Do NOT post it to your DA account. Email your submission in to me, and it will be posted onto the club account. After judging, you can of course post it to your account.

The deadline will be February 15th, with the submissions to be posted a day or so after that. We all know I'm terrible with such things, so don't pin me down on it. *grins sheepishly*

First of all, I'd like to congratulate the winners in last month's art contest. Our winner was with coming in first place!! Congrats, ladies!! ^__^ I'd also like to heartily thank ALL of our contestants for participating, cause without you guys, we'd have no contests. ^^

Secondly, we're putting together ideas for another art contest, which we'll probably be announcing shortly. So keep an eye out for that.

Also, if anyone has ideas for a fic contest, we're always open to suggestions here, so feel free to email or note us, okay?

Third, the community board on our homesite, Nameksei.net, seems to be experiencing some technical difficulties. I was thinking about replacing it with a PHP Nuke board, which is what we originally had. The new version is much safer and I personally prefer it to the XOOPS board we're currently using. I'd like to get feed back on that, if you guys don't mind letting me know what you think. I'd really like to keep the website current and open to all. Unlike a lot of the other Namek fansites out there, I don't want ours to die.

Do keep in mind that the art gallery and fic archives are open over on Nameksei and it's all automated, all you have to do is register and submit your stuff. ^^

But, we're glad to get the ones we did. So... I'm just going to post the ones that we did receive and you guys can vote on them. Usual rules apply. All entries will be submitted anonymously. The picture with the most favorites wins. The prize... hm... The winner will receive either a DA subscription or I can make them their very own custom bath soap/shower gel. Anyway, grovelling aside, onto the good stuff.

There's an online RPG in the works. As soon as there's enough information for it to start, I'll post more details. Needless to say, it's a Namekseijin RPG, based off of the works of one of our more prolific members. It's been worked on for the last few weeks, and will shortly be ready for beta testing. It's a forum based, story format RPG and it looks to be interesting. There's a lot of detail and work going into it. More information will be released as it becomes available.

Secondly... Clan Daimaou is sponsering a new art contest. The art style we're looking for is... Calendar Art!! So, we'll need at LEAST 12 entries, one for each month of the year! Multiple submissions are allowed, Namekseijin ONLY, original characters are fine, as are canon characters. The size needs to be at least 8 x 10, because I'm thinking of taking our 12 winning selections and putting them in a calendar format which will be put up at Nameksei.net for download and printing should our members wish it. There's no particular theme, again, but if you have an idea for a "holiday" or "season" themed picture, go right ahead! The deadline for the entries will be December 1, 2005. As per our usual rules... DO NOT POST YOUR ENTRIES TO YOUR DA ACCOUNT. Email them to me, and they will be posted on the ClanDaimaou account. Once the contest is over, you can post them to your account. If there are any questions, please feel free to drop me a note, email or IM.

And since it was a tie, we'll just give it to the both of them. ^^

Fanfiction Contest!!

Yes, it's about time we've had one of these... The theme is... Christmas! Again, if you want to use someone else's original character, get permission first. The theme of the contest is for someone to get a special present. Which can be taken in an ecchi or non-ecchi way, it's YOUR fic... All entries can be submitted to my email to be posted on Nameksei.net. The contest deadline will Wednesday, December 22nd, by midnight.

Fanart Contest!!

The next fanart contest will be New Year's Eve! Anything goes, again, ask for permission to use other peoples characters. The deadline for this one will be Thursday, December 30th, by midnight. Per usual, email me the entries.

The rules are as follows...

1. You can use any Namek character, canon or original. BUT! If you want to use a character that does NOT belong to you, you MUST have the owner's permission beforehand.

2. The theme of the contest is... Samhain. NOT Halloween. Samhain. There is a distinct difference. Don't know what I'm talking about? Run a Google search and read up. ^^

3. As in the last contest, do NOT post the pictures. Email them to me to be posted on the Clan Daimaou account. Once the contest is over, you can repost them to your own accounts.

4. Contest deadline is Oct. 31st, 11:59pm. *chuckles* Entries will be posted on either Nov. 1st or 2nd, depending on what's going on.

It's been a crazy week here for me. There's been a death in my family, my favorite aunt moved back home, I got some rather incredible news today and I'm in a bit of shock over it....

The first is tied into our first ever fanfiction contest. The rules are simple. Draw a scene from the winning fic. That's it. Easy enough. The contest WAS scheduled to end on the 31st at midnight CST... BUT as I'm feeling generous, I've decided to extend the time limit one more week. It doesn't happen often that I feel generous, so take advantage while you can.
