Today I met the lovely .
She has an awesome bag.

First we had McDonald's, I ate all her chips.
Then I beat her. So beat me. At Pokémon ;D

We hung out around Scarborough, it was nice
I almost died, though.
Icy steps are bad D:
I grabbed Hokerou's bag and stopped myself cracking my head open. Phew.

I spent about £70 on books today, most of which were for Hokerou (all but two of The Edge Chronicles, and a couple of books for me) but Zhampy didn't want anything

I took soooo many photos of her. She didn't like it so I kept the flash on and kept taking photos really close to her eyes and stuff. IT WAS REALLY REALLY FUNNY HAHAHAHA.
Disposable camera so you'll all have to wait for it to be developed, of course.
I'm totally putting them online, despite what she says ;D

Um I don't really know what else I want to say.

BIG NEWS: I was accepted into TWO Universities.
I got an interview from Leeds College of Art, but I got accepted (without needing to interview/show a portfolio) into Hull and Huddersfield.
I only need a Pass/Pass/Pass to get into Huddersfield and Merit/Merit/Pass for Hull, on my National Diploma.
I'm working at Distinction/Distinction/Distinction right now and that's the highest grade.
I want to go to the University of Hull most of all, so I am SOOOOO happy that I got into that one so easily
The University of Hull has another campus at Scarborough, which is where I will be.
It's also the University attends and she'll be in her last year when I start.
So that's alright then. (Also: if I turn down the interviews I get, I don't need to bother making a portfolio - this is wonderful)

I took the day off college on Friday.
I told them it was to visit a University but that was a lie.
I went to BUTLINS this weekend.
We travelled up on Friday and returned this afternoon.
I got plenty of sleep there but I'm just sooooo tired. T_T
I'd better get an early night tonight because TOMORROW I AM GOING TO LEEDS TO STAY WITH
And soon I GET TO MEET WHICH IS AWESOME i got her a chrustmas present ohhoho

On Friday night we went into the Skyline Pavilion at Butlins, then we went back to the flat at about 8 and we were really tired.
I wrote a story which I'm going to put online in a few minutes (the next in the Black Beast saga ) then I went to bed early.
I got hardly any sleep the first night because my sister was breathing heavily *shot*

Saturday morning we went into Minehead, the town Butlins is in, and I got new boots.
Walking boots
My trainers were all tatty and full of holes so I got mum to buy me some sturdy boots and I LOVE THEM.
Then we went back to Butlins and watched the worst pantomime in the world.
Goldilocks and the 3 bears. For one thing, Goldilocks was the hero of the story even though she's a bit of a twat in the original story (encouraging children to break into homes and steal their food?) but oh well.
The villain was "Baron Von Schnauser" who was German and hates the Welsh (nice going Butlins, teaching kids that Germans are evil).
The music was awful in it, too.
I just sat there playing Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations
Later there was Karaoke, which was hilarious. One of the redcoat hosts introduced herself to us and I recognised her as the girl who welcomed us upon arrival. She was pretty .

I slept better that night
Sunday we did bugger all, really.
I kept seeing the pretty redcoat around and I talked to her at one point (she recognised me and remembered my name! <3) and apologised for running off the night before when she called me up to sing at karaoke, but I was too shy to ask for her number and now I will likely never see her again. Ho hum!
More karaoke last night, still hilarious.

As for my sister, she spent the entire weekend gambling on 2p machines. God those things are addictive D:

Hello. I am Quincy Teabag. I’m quite ordinary, I think. I can’t really say that about myself, I suppose. I was sitting in my house the other day and I decided to go out for a walk. I don’t go out walking very often, I like staying at home, but because it was sunny I put on my boots and went outside. Up the road there’s this gate that goes into some woods, but I’d never been into the woods before. I quite like animals so I went in there hoping to see something like a Dyr, or Foreseid. I like Foreseids because their fins are thin like paper, and they have pretty coloured hair on them. Their claws are really sharp, though.

I wandered into the woods and I got a little lost. It’s really big in there and there are loads of Bark-spiders and those big things with the loads of legs that I forget the name of. I thought to myself that I should have tied a rope around my waist so I couldn’t get too far from the gate. I haven’t got a very good sense of direction, you know. I started getting quite scared because I heard some noises that I couldn’t put names to. By the time night came around I was a gibbering wreck, but that could also have been because I hadn’t had any herbal tea since the morning.

There was a huge clearing to my left so I went that way and in the middle of the clearing was a great big tree. Well, it wasn’t very big when I was far away, but as I got closer it seemed to be getting really big. Not like when you move a stone closer to you and it’s a bit bigger than before, because it’s closer, it was more like it was growing whenever I moved. I turned around and walked toward it with my back to it and when I turned around it was bigger than ever. The tree was still very far away so I continued on toward it. When I finally came to the foot of the tree it stopped growing and I could see how big it really was. I looked up and I couldn’t see the top of the roots, because they were so high above my head. It was quite sheltered at the base so I lay under one of the huge leaves and closed my eyes.

It was dark when I woke up, but then I opened my eyes and it turned out that it was actually quite light. I was in the shade and it was cold so I went around to the other side of the tree to warm up in the sunlight. It must have taken me at least ten minutes to get to the other side of the tree because the circumference was so great. I was so tired the night before that I didn’t bother coming around to this side of the tree and I noticed that there was an ornate door with hinges made of what looked like metal but had the grain of wood. I used the door knocker (it was in the shape of a terrifying creature with crazy wild fur and massive teeth) which made a loud echoing sound within the tree, but there was no answer. I pushed the door and it opened, so I went inside.

“Hello?” I shouted inside, “Hello? Sorry to intrude…” and there was no reply because it was empty. Far across the room was a great staircase that split at the top, like a giant ‘Y’ shape that criss-crossed upward around the inside walls of the tree. I couldn’t see the top but I had a weird feeling that something amazing was going to be at the top. I ran toward the stairs, unable to contain my excitement, and started ascending. I took the right path because I like having the wall to my left; it feels like something bad will happen if I don’t do it that way. I expected to get very tired when I climbed the stairs but I felt full of energy inside the tree, like some kind of force was filling me with strength.

The farther up I went, the stranger my thoughts became. I started to talk out loud.

Yesterday, I met my girlfriend for the first time.
It was the most perfect first date ever, and our first kiss was wonderful (and I have the sand that got in my sock during it in an envelope on my wall!).
We didn't have much time together but I don't care, I get to see her more in the future - including 14 days from now FOR A WHOLE WEEK. SEVEN WHOLE DAYS.
Right now I am upset and tired (because she's not here, and because I have done so much travelling this weekend, I got up to go to London at 3:20 on Friday and went to Scarborough two hours after I got home, at 2am the next morning) but that will pass. It was worth it ^_^

I also told her I love her.

I went to the zoo today with my family :3

I took this because some woman walked by, pointing them out to her husband, asking "What are they?", to which he replied "Ostriches."

My sister poked the poor prairie dog with a stick. When I told her it was a prairie dog, she thought it was an actual dog that goes woof.




Due to lack of Giraffes, Zebras are the best animals in the zoo (besides the Bali bird, which you will soon see)








I tried to get both sides of the lion. I spent ages at the enclosure waiting for it to do something cat-like...

So today I watched a film.
It was an epic tale of man versus beast, the invasion of nature and how a giant animal contends with its fully-evolved adversaries.



The story starts when a group of humans discovers an island filled with huge animals and goes there with cameras to get footage and images of said creatures.
There's the typical characters;
The woman who loves nature
The man who travels to the island and tries to save her from the giant creatures, while trying to do as little harm as possible.
Then there's the bastard who wants to collect the grandest beast of all as his trophy, and spends the entire film fucking shit up on the island and getting the wrath of all the creatures aimed at him and most of his group gets killed.
And of course, the generic "other characters" who get killed somehow along the way.



After landing on the island, they go exploring a little and the giant beast comes to attack them, killing someone and fucking it all up for everyone else.
The evil guy concocts plans to try and capture the creature and ends up tranquillising it and dragging it back to a big city in the USA with massive attractions and all that jazz.
The greatest attraction of them all soon to be this giant animal the bad guy "singlehandedly captured" which will be presented to the world.


Then it escapes and runs about the city killing people in its rage etc. while the authorities try and deal with the situation.



I am, of course, referring to none other than Jurassic Park: The Lost World.

The film is so like King Kong it hurts.
I mean, I really enjoyed The Lost World but the basic man-finds-giant-beast man-enslaves-giant-beast giant-beast-does-not-like-it scenario is very, very old.

Boy drinks gasoline to become Transformer [Link]

Now it might just be me, but surely it's a pretty well known fact that liquids you have to hide from your parents so that you can drink them are often going to be pretty detrimental to your health.
Especially the ones that you don't see your parents themselves drinking from a cocktail glass.
Right?


Maybe the kid was DECEIVED by the telly. lolololol c wat i did ther?! lolol Molatov.

I know people can get obsessed with cartoons and games and all that, but to the extent of thinking you'll be able to fit inside a small sphere by setting yourself on fire and shouting "MAGMAR MAGMAR MAGMAR" is just insane.
How the parents didn't notice is beyond me, they said themselves that they noticed lighters going missing and petrol disappearing from their petrol tank.

"He began to drink gasoline five years ago, when we found [out] he liked smelling lighter fuel," his dad said. "Afterwards, we found our motorcycle's gasoline was always disappearing, and one day when we found the boy had drunk a half bottle of gasoline stolen from the motorcycle, we were too shocked to say anything."

Well THAT'S good parenting.

And how dumb do you have to be do think that drinking petrol will turn you into a car?

Turnabout Chickens
Hello.
We got some chikans today.
We bought 4, so we have one each.
Mum and I have named ours, but her partner and my sister have not named theirs yet.
Mum's is called Aunt Ett, and mine is called Deathbeak.
Here is a photograph of Deathbeak which I took with my camera.

That is exactly what Deathbeak looks like I swear.

Some of Deathbeak's qualities:
Deathbeak can outrun a horse, even on a very cold day. Conversely, she cannot outrun a horse if her legs are broken.
Deathbeak's beak has poisonous barbs which kill slowly and painfully. There is no known cure for Deathbeak's unique poison as nobody has survived an encounter with Deathbeak.
Deathbeak lays black eggs that are on fire. The fire helps them to go faster.
Deathbeak, if presented with a mathematical problem, will eat the numbers and convert them into fuel.
Deathbeak read The DaVinci Code in an hour. She did not like the story.
Deathbeak once consumed various drugs simultaneously. She can now see around corners and into the future.
Deathbeak once had sex with the rain. The rain wept blood for a week.

Turnabout Rescue
My sister stepped out into the garden today, and heard a distressed cheeping noise.
She looked up and saw that a baby bird was hanging, by its foot, near its nest at the side of our house.
It fell and landed in a tub of water, so she quickly rushed and pulled it out before it could drown.
She wrapped it up warm in a towel and tried to keep it warm.
It was in shock and was very cold, the poor thing almost died but when mum came home and she's had it in her breast pocket all wrapped up like a little nest, for most of the afternoon.
We took it with us when going to get the chickens and she's been feeding it.
It's doing a lot better now :3

Turnabout Alphabet
My first year of college is finally over.
It went by pretty quickly. I got a Merit and a Distinction for my Final Major Project, which is pretty good.
Next year I opted to do Graphics, and my summer brief is pretty straightforward.



I have decided to create a pictorial font.
I don't know what individual images I'd use but say I were to make a DeathNote themed one, I'd use Ryuk for A because he likes apples, Raye for R, Sidoh for S, L for L or whatever, you get the idea.
Not all of them will be because of their first name, though.
I might have Light for K, obviously.

But it probably won't be DeathNote themed.
I might do, saying that. Or Phoenix Wright.
Or Pokémon...
Definately something relevant to my interests.

I'm pretty far into the Edge Chronicles now - I've only got 3 more left until I can FINALLY read "The Immortals", the new one that I haven't read yet.
I dreamt about the Gloamglozer the other night.
While reading the books I thought he was really cool, but actually being face to face with him and knowing that he'll kill me is, quite frankly, terrifying.
He's a sly bastard.
I don't remember it in detail but I was basically a pawn in his game, he had me running about the halls of a mansion trying to escape but he knew my every move.
I woke up as he raised a great scythe to me.
He's still my favourite character

I love the illustrations in the books.
I decided to try my hand at drawing an Edge-like character.
I think it came out pretty well:

Turnabout Dawn
I started writing some comic strips under the name "Dawn of the Dumb", which refers to Dawn of Pokémon, being incredibly dumb.
I'm hoping to find and point out stupid things within the Pokemon games and put them into cartoons.
I admit that's a pretty small audience and pretty much alienates everyone who's not played every single one of the Pokémon games, but oh well.
The first one was kind of a pilot, really.
And they're not all going to be with Dawn. The main character at the moment seems to be Brendan, but I'll probably have Green in it too.
I wanna do some FR/LG strips, I have an idea for one of them already.
I'll probably end up changing the style over time, too, because it takes SO LONG to draw them at the moment.

This is officially the first birthday I have ever actually enjoyed.
My good friend

stayed at my house last night, and we watched Kung Pow (the best film ever) for the sixty-twelve-millionth time.
She made me get up early though and I went into college (ON MY DAY OFF) to see people.
I was just darting back and forth between everyone in their free periods :]
It was lovely seeing everyone and getting loads of hugs and stuff.

Some other fantastic stuff happened, as well.
Namely something to do with someone who may or may not mean something to me in some way, but I'm not going into that on here ;]

I didn't get many presents, I got some cash which was good but what presents I did get are FUCKING FANTASTIC.
I got a KETTLE. A KETTLE FOR MY BEDROOM
WITH MY FAVOURITE TEA.
Raspberry, Cranberry and Elderflower tea.
It's PINK. Fucking PINK. I liked it before I played PW but it's basically Edgeworth tea.
I am soooo fucking pumped.
Seriously this shit's the shit.
I got a tea jar, a coffee jar and a sugar jar, too.
And some little milk. It's little and is milk.

I'm gonna buy myself a new monitor, maybe.
Or a mini fridge. Or both, if I can afford it.
I'll wait for my EMA bonus to get through and then I'll see.

I've been trying to do it without a guide, but a lot of the time I don't know where to go next.
I find the dungeons are pretty easy if you remember "It's never that simple".
Whenever there's a puzzle to figure out, I ignore the simplest solution because it never works in this game. Heh.

Anybody else notice this? I mean, really.

I was reminded yesterday of an incident which occured a few years ago now.
A couple friends and I used to hang out in a room in school most lunchtimes, we were rather reclusive and disliked the burning sun (and the bullying of the foolish fools of the playground).
I was often hungry. I still am. I'm sure you get hungry, too.
The hunger was overwhelming many times a week and my friend Davy often offered (see: was forced) to give me his chocolate mousse for lunch.

Yesterday I went to see Coraline, in 3D.
It was awesome, I really enjoyed it.

I was looking for it this morning and found my old four leaf clover, which is now up on my wall radiating brown luck at me.
It's all dried up and dead, so it's gone brown and crusty but I think brown luck is better than no luck.

I'm just adding to the "hype", I suppose, but all the talk has me slightly irritated.
I'm fine with people being worried about it. I mean, who wouldn't be? It's a disease threatening to kill people, yeah - it's not nice.
It's also not as bad as everyone's making it out to be
That's not what's gotten me irritated, though.
It's the fact that Mr. Prime Minister's all "OMG NO WE HAV 2 DO SUMETHIN RITE NAO!!!", and we're screaming "SORT OUT OUR SHITTING ECONOMY, YOU FUCK."
If we all get Bird Flu, or Swine Flu or whatever the latest flu-fad is, then we may die. Yes. I get that.
For those of us who don't die of pissing Martian Flu or whatever, we are going to need money to not die of starvation.
Stop using disease as a scapegoat T_T

I've been making pictures with my trusty ballpoint pen these past days.
I coloured them with colouring pencils, too. Ah, the joy.
I'm thinking of doing an Egyptian styled webcomic but if I do that won't be for a while because I need to research Egyptian Mythology first. I bought a book on is this evening :3
I miss learing about Egypt. It was my favourite subject in History, but we only did it in year 4.
I did laugh today when, while browsing Wikipedia, I was reminded of a part of the story of Osiris that had completely slipped my mind;
"Osiris' son Horus was conceived by Isis with Osiris' corpse, or in some versions, only with pieces of his corpse."

So yes indeedy, my recent updates are as follows:




That's the character, Cleo, who would appear in the webcomic. It'd most likely be about Clopatra and Marc Antony, which pretty much means it's gonna be a tragedy. Damn you, Shakespeare.
I'd flesh out the story with cutscenes featuring select Gods such as Osiris, Set, Isis, Anubis, Horus.
I mean, they're the most heard of ones so I figured it'd be best to use those.

Anubis is my favourite ಠ_ಠ


I dressed up as him once. For "Egyptian Day" in primary school.
I remember my teacher came as Cleopatra, and had a similar necklace on to what Cleo wears (though you can't see it very well in the second drawing or at all in the first, I'll do one sometime with a better view of her neck).
I did, actually, draw Anubis too.
He'd be the grouchy, pissed off character. I'd like that.
I'll probably make them all Pokémon, because I'm sad like that.

Anyway, I'm gonna...well...go.

I had a great pokeymans battle with a fellow I know on a website.

Tomorrow I'm going to the airport to say goodbye to my stepsister (she lives in Yorkshire and is flying back home tomorrow afternoon), which I'm quite looking forward to.
I haven't seen much of her in pretty much a whole year, because of the whole living up country thing, as well as mum and her dad splitting up around this time last year.

Today was ok. I haven't been doing much, really. I should be writing...
I'm gonna be making a graphic novel for college, on the theme of "Home".
Naturally I'm going to be making it as dark and depressing as I possibly can, filled with murder and despair.
I have a basic storlyine;
A girl witnesses her father brutally murder her mother.
She's put into an orphanage while he's arrested and given the death penalty.
Her orphanage burns down and she loses her memory of everything due to shock.
She searches for who she is and where she's from, but when she finds out she's so distraught she kills herself.
YAY!

Any ideas for methods of killing/suicide are welcome, as well as anything else I could add in.
I can't make it too long due to time issues, so it's only gonna be about 3 chapters long;

Murder/Arrest/Execution
Orphanage/Fire
Searching for home/Suicide

Maybe two images per chapter. Nothing massive.

Ok so I saw this in 's journal and thought "HEY I DO SOME OF THAT STUFF TOO".

- My character is always a girl. Called either Sam or Casey. Always Casey in Crystal.

- When I nickname a person or a Pokémon, I only use upper case on the first letter.

- My storage boxes are always "Temp." that I have active for catching Pokémon, "Party" for my different teams then "1-10" "11-20" "21-30" "31-40" "41-50" "51-60" "61-70" "81-80" "91-99" "100". After that I have "Legends 1" "Legends 2" "Legends 3" "Legends 4" (a box for all the legendaries I can get from each generation), "Shiny" and finally "Eggs". For games with fewer boxes I either cut down on the legends and eggs (leaving them in Temp.) or don't change my boxes.

- I never train my starter Pokémon after the Elite 4. I put it in a box to rot while I train some bird Pokémon or something.

- I save my game before each Elite 4 member.

- I use repel in caves and in the sea

- When I see a trainer, I try and avoid them and get past them, then I turn around and battle them. I don't like letting them walk up to me. NINJA.

- I only catch Pokémon if I need that certain Pokémon.

- I never fill my Pokédex. Well, I did it once in Emerald. That's it.

- I pretty much always use female Pokémon, but I rarely breed.

- I always register the bike.

- I always have a shit team, no matter how hard I try.

- I always hold up + B when the ball opens. It doesn't help, but I do it anyway.

- I never use my masterball.

- I never go to the Safari Zone. It's a big pile of wank.

- I always go up the ghost-towers (Lavender, Mt. Pyre etc.) but I only do it with a repel.

- I only use Max Repels

- I never name my rival the same thing twice.

- I always use the backgrounds for boxes in order from Temp until 90-99. 100 is always different, as are the others.

- I never pick berries.

- I never plant berries.

- I never do contests outside of Emerald.

- I shout and swear at the trainers, and when I attack them I say stuff like "Fuck yeah! Take that, bitch!" and stuff.

I can't think of any more now.

...on a digital painting of my all-time favourite Pokémon, the lovely Gardevoir.
Suddenly, the lights went out.
I'd turned the electricity off with a loaf of bread!
When they came back on...THIS was on the screen!!

The creature burst from my monitor, as if it could Teleport into my world.
It was utter Confusion!
I Growled and fled, but Gardevoir had such a Mean Look!!!
I could not escape!
I threw some sort of ball but it just brushed off the mere distraction, its Hypnotic eyes lulling me into a trance.
I felt my entire being drawn from my mind, as if my Dream had been Eaten!
I began to Sleep Talk, my words like a Guillotine but it was too late, my Destiny was Bound to the thing and everything went dark.
When I came to, it was gone.

Some beautiful human being has uploaded a save file for Platinum with the character standing in front of Godotina.
This is great because I had just defeated Volkner (all OHKOs of course, because I fucking rock...though anyone else who played it probably did that as well. We all fucking rock.) and now I've defeated him again.
I edited the save file in pokesav so that I had my character as well as my old team.
I also made an HM slave Budew that I gave a thoroughly imaginative nickname:

Waterfall
Rock Smash
Strength

I'm only making non-legit HM slaves, which I don't use for battle.
Any Pokemon I use Pokesav on is totally legit.

Disclaimer: I don't actually use this.

Turnabout Pillowcases
I mentioned in my previous journal that I was going to design and print some pillowcases like this:


Well I've done that now!

I started out with a sketch in one of my many, many sketchbooks and scanned that in.
I redrew it in Photoshop and ended up with this lovely little character here:

I was going to have Phoenix opposite him, with Edgeworth shouting "Objection!" and Phoenix looking disheartened, but it ended up being a bit too busy so I cut out Phoenix.

I made a sheet of "Objection!"s, with one large one for Edgeworth to shout, and a secone sheet of more small ones should I need any more.


I did the same with Maya's Magatama:


I printed them onto HP Transfer Paper, which you can find online or whatever. I got mine from Amazon.
Finally, I had this:


Hold it!
Now it's not perfect, there are plenty of mistakes.
The Edgeworth on the right has part of him missing, because it hadn't cooled enough before I pulled off the paper.
The half-decent printed pillowcase on the left is much better, BUT I PUT THE MAIN OBJECTION ON UPSIDE DOWN WTF NO.
I was not amused xD

Ah well, things to remember for next time, eh?
I'm planning on making more of these when I can be bothered (and have enough money to buy more resources with. You can help me out by donating to my website if you like, but I don't mind either way)

I have a new obsession
Phoenix Wright is absolutely FANTASTIC.
Anyone who hasn't played it, do so.
If you don't have a DS, BUY ONE. THEN PLAY PHOENIX WRIGHT.
Seriously.
It's a game about LAWYERS.
Shut up, Athena, it's actually amazing. ;]
I'm on the third case of the second game at the moment.
There's a clown in it who says "In west Clownadelphia, born and raised, on the playground is where I spent my clowin..." when he gets whipped.
He gets whipped again and says "...But a couple of clowns, they were up to no good... Started makin' trouble in.."

I joined an Edgeworth fan club because Miles Edgeworth, one of the prosecution lawyers and Phoenix Wright's personal rival, is absolutely amazing.
I mean, just look at his hair. And he has a frilly ruff on his neck!

Hold it! - Turnabout Recent Purchases
Moving away from Phoenix Wright, I have a bit of news.
I recently bought all of the Spyro games.
I had them all but I let my (then) friend borrow them and I never saw them again.
I'm playing through Year of the Dragon, because it's my favourite, and I am re-enjoying every second of it!

I also bought a pocketwatch, which arrived this morning after I got back from the dentist's.
It is BEAUTIFUL.

I'd been waiting for it for ages; it came from America so it took a while to post, but it was well worth it.

There is a bit of bad news, however.
Spore, as in the recent Maxis game, was not working via Digital Download. I couldn't install it!
I was mighty irritated, so I got the lovely Christie, a friend of mine from college, to let me borrow her copy of the game so I could play it.
I emailed EA and they gave me a full refund so I shall buy a hard copy of the game and install it from disc next time.
Along with the Creepy and Cute parts addon, and I've pre-ordered the upcoming "Spore Galactic Adventures" expansion, which looks rather good!
So everything seems to be going rather well, really.

I started reading Lord of the Rings recently.
It's good, I've never actually enjoyed it before.
Though I think I can guess why I'm reading it a lot better this time.
I've also pre-ordered Lord of the Rings: Conquest, which looks awesome.
It's good on the DS, so the PC version would be fantastic.

I was in Truro yesterday, with Elisha, and I went into Waterstones to try and find Call of Cthulhu and Other Weird Stories, by H.P. Lovecraft (a compilation of many of his stories).
It was in stock, so I bought it :]
I haven't read any other than "Dagon" yet, I'm gonna read Lord of the Rings before I carry on with Call of Cthulhu.
I'm almost at the bit where they meet Aragorn for the first time :3

It's Jerry's sister's baby shower tomorrow night, so he's dressed as a mudkip.
You see his sister loves Pokémon. A bit too much, if you know what I mean.

A year ago today, I joined this website and I've enjoyed every minute of it.
To all those who are watching me, thankyou for your support and attention and criticism.
To all those who aren't, but visit my page and my website and comment and favourite my artwork, thankyou.
I appreciate everything people on this website have shown me, and I've improved a lot by being here.
I'm going to select a few of my pieces from throughout the year in an attempt to show how I've developed and improved.
Hopefully you guys'll see it too and help me continue to get better at what I love.

I'd like to start out with this:

I made this for my friend, and at the time I thought it was the most amazing piece of artwork I'd ever finished.
I'd discovered vector art and, like a dog with a taste for blood, strove to continue with it.


At this point I'd not found my own style, and the biggest flaw with how I was going about these were the irregular "lumps" I was constructing the faces with.
As opposed to a single colour then layers of shading and tint over the top, I was using different colours which gave the skin a mismatched feel.

Then I discovered filters.

I loved making planets and made plenty, but they didn't start improving until I discovered displacement maps.


I used a tutorial to create water, and once I'd done that I could move onto improving my planets.


This was when my planets peaked and after this piece, I started to slip.

So I moved on.

This was one of my first pictures in which I delved into the world of photomanipulation.
More on that later.

I'm going to skim over this period, I was doing trees for a project in school:


Back to vectors.
I'd decided to use only straight lines and harsh edges in my vectors, as you can see in this vector of Frank Zappa:


Then I hit a brick wall with vectoring humans in this style.

Tonight I've been giving my deviantART profile a makeover.

As you can see, I've jumbled up my modules on the page and have remade my CSS.
I don't know if this is here to stay, it does seem very bland right now.
I can easily whip up something else come Christmas time should I need to.

I spent today in the company of Beth, which was very nice and I enjoyed it thoroughly. However, being away from people for just the evening makes me sad so I don't know how I'm going to cope at Christmas with just my family for company!
I admit, they're not *that* bad, but I'd rather see my friends.
Oh well, I can't have everything. At least I get to give people presents at the end of this week! College ends on friday and I'm insisting on gifts being opened, if possible, on the day :]

I've been quite ill recently and have missed some college. I had a headache, among other things, and I've still not fully recovered. It hurts to move my eyes :[
That's probably my cue to go to bed now, so I'll head off.

Once upon a time there was a beautiful princess who lived alone.
Beautiful but vain.
She spent many hours in front of the mirror in the palace - a gigantic mirror taking up most of one of the castle walls.
One stormy night while standing in front of the mirror, a beggar came to the castle, seeking shelter.
The beggar was close to death but the princess, not wanting to be seen housing such a vile looking man, turned him away from her door.
The beggar said to the princess "If you turn me away from here, I will surely be dead by morning", but still she did not agree to shelter the man.
"Very well", he said, "as a young man I was cursed by a witch, and after my death I shall return as a spider. A cursed spider, and whoever is bitten by me shall see their worst nightmare reflected back at them in every surface".
The princess chose not to believe the beggar and sent him back out into the cold, winter night.
Several weeks passed, and while the princess was sleeping peacefully in her bed a spider scuttled into her chamber.
It crawled up a leg of her bed and stalked across her sheets toward her head.
Feeling its thick hairy legs make their way toward her, she awoke and called to the spider.
"Are you the beggar I sent away?"
The spider replied "I am. I have come to offer you a choice."
"You must house me until my natural dying day, catch and feed me insects whenever I please, and you must keep me warm in your home. You must also carry me on your shoulder for the rest of my life".
The princess was disgusted at such a thought. She asked, angrily, "And what is the other choice?"
"I will bite you" answered the spider, "I will sink my fangs into your flesh and place a curse upon you with my venom. You will live the rest of your life with your very worst nightmare stalking you in any and all reflections."
The princess, hearing this, was relieved. She did not believe in such a thing as a curse.
In fact, she assumed the spider to be an apparition, caused by her drowsiness.
She spat at the spider and started to slumber peacefully, believing its presence to be non existant.
The spider crawled slowly, so as to not startle her, toward her face. His fangs drawn, he plunged them into the soft skin of her cheek and delighted in the feeling of his curse gushing into her veins.
The princess awoke, and killed the spider.
Her face painfully swollen, she rushed to the garden to apply ice to her wound.
After the pain subsided she returned to her bed and slept until dawn.
Awaking slowly, she put on her gown and walked to the palace mirror to disprove her apparent nightmare and see nothing but her reflection.
She turned to the mirror and saw her worst nightmare.
Reflected back at her was her own face with with a fucking great mole where the spider bit her. Imagine that.
The end.

I read this awesome book years ago.
I forgot pretty much everything about it, author, title, plot.
Character names
I kept having nightmares about it, though.
There were these things in the book that suck out people's bones and I kept dreaming I had to get away from them.
The other night I remembered about the book and I've been trying to find it for a while now.
Not just since last night, but whenever I remember about it.
Last night I remembered a bit more!
There were these metal/razor sheep things in it.
And a dead goat on a bus that comes back to life.
And the most important thing that returned the most interesting search results; an apple-headed doll.
I still couldn't find it, though.
Too many apple dolls in existance, and "metal sheep" was hardly gonna work.
I couldn't remember the name of the things that suck out bones, either.
I was gonna post a question on yahoo answers, in fact, but I couldn't remember how, and I doubt it'd have helped anyway.
I couldn't remember enough.
So I typed in "apple head book" on yahoo answers.
Second question down.

My favourite series of books are the "Chronicles of Ancient Darkness", by Michelle Paver.
They're about a boy who can speak to wolves, and his quest to defeat the evil Soul Eaters after his father was killed by a demon-posessed bear.
I expect that sounds insane, if you haven't read them, but they really are fantastic and have a really nice fan base.

There will be six books in total, five have been published so far;
Wolf Brother,
Spirit Walker
Soul Eater
Outcast
Oath Breaker

The illustrations are done by Geoff Taylor, who also illustrated books by Cliff McNish, among other authors.
He's a great illustrator, which brings me onto the main portion of this journal:

"Recently I emailed Geoff Taylor, an illustrator who worked on a few of my favourite books (http://www.geofftaylor.btinternet.co.uk/),
asking for tips on how to illustrate, because I don't think I'm very good at it.
I also asked how much a print of the Spirit Walker map would be, as it's my favourite map from the series.
He emailed back saying that he thinks I'm very good at illustration, having seen a webcomic I have on my website (http://www.clansoul.com/), and that my style has clearly developed.
He then told me how he makes some of his illustrations, and he also told me how he made the Spirit Walker map (the whale and seals are cut out from seperate paper and just glued straight on to the original!)
He also sent me a print of the map, which looks wonderful on my wall, along with a certificate of authenticity.
Along with all that, he gave me a card with a raven drawing he'd put in Outcast, with a message inside saying

"Long live 'Gimposaurus'!
Hope it all goes well for you.
Geoff"

The print is very high quality, and if you can spare a few pennies, I strongly reccomend you get one of these wonderful pieces of artwork.

Despite the title, this is a rather lighthearted journal entry, so I'm sorry if you're reading this hoping for a rant.
Today I got a can of Dandelion and Burdock, and put the tab in your letter, Athena.
You have to put it in the center of the bracelet I sent you bit by bit. Or else!
There's another thing in there that I'm not going to tell you what it is, but when you see it you'll understand.

Today was good, my first day back at school since last wednesday, and it was really, really hot.
Richard, Grace and I went down town at lunch, and Polly caught up with us as we were walking back. She's a loon.
It was a laugh, and Richard's always good to talk to.

I finished my CV today, too.
And I made a portfolio for my college interview on monday, of my artwork.
Is it alright if I include the digital painting, Killerkitti? It's just that I've not got anything else like it and I want to include as much as I can in different styles to show how flexible I can be.
I won't put it in if you don't want me to, though ^_^

I made a Gimposaurus today, and am already in the mood for writing the next one, so I might start that after I have a shower.
Which I am going to do now.

Last week, as I'm sure, you're all aware, I suffered a break up.
Last night, my mum's boyfriend attacked me rather violently, and I am scared of him now.

But since saturday, I've had a date with Grace set.
I asked her if she'd like to go to see a movie sometime, and we set it for monday.

Last night, I stayed at Richard's house, to get away from Ross, but I had a good time with Richard, and I went to school this morning enthusiastic about seeing Grace.
We went out for lunch again today, and it was lovely. I enjoy it, a lot.
And then she came home with me, on my bus. We went to see the movie, and it was great.
So was the company.

We met with mum at my auntie's house, to take us home, and we spent a few minutes on the computer as I uploaded my latest Gimposaurus comic, then we sat on my bed and watched Kung Pow.
She enjoyed it as much as I did each of the million times I've seen it, and then I put on my new cd, Awkward Ballads for the Easily Pleased, as we lay on my bed talking for about four hours, nose to nose, snuggling.

Today has been fantastic, and I hope to have similar days, often, in the future.

This week has been...eventful.

After a break-up on wednesday, I've been feeling really rough, but I will be fine soon I'm sure.

And since I started writing this, I made plans to see a film on monday night. Fun fun!

Tomorrow, I am going to Plymouth with some friends, and I'm looking forward to it.
Things are looking up a bit, since wednesday.
I'm not as happy as I've ever been, and I still feel the pangs of lonliness gripping at my heart, but as long as she is happier like this, then I am. And I sha'n't be lonely for long.

Musical tastes
Cthulhu and Jerry have very different music tastes.
Cthulhu recently purchased The Sheik Yerbouti, a Frank Zappa album, whereas Jerry is sitting there with "Born For This" stuck in his head.

They enjoy having different tastes, as they can both swap musical suggestions, and are growing closer all the time in that respect. Cthulhu is quickly gaining knowledge of great bands he'd not otherwise have listened to, such as Incubus or Alesana.
In fact, Incubus are now his favourite band.
Cthulhu does like to listen to his previous set of bands, such as Pink Floyd or Richard Cheese.

He's trying his best to get Jerry into them, too, but he's not doing very well.
Jerry doesn't like Richard Cheese because he "killed" Enter Sandman (Metallica), and is used to the "angry guitar", and Thom's voice in "Creep" (Radiohead).

This is all oddly familiar.

I'm finding it increasingly irritating that people (especially on b3ta) accuse vector/vexel artists of:
- Using filters/cheating
- Not putting in any effort
- Following the path of a "F***ING SH*T" form of art
- Following the path of something that is not art
- "Basically tracing"

It's incredibly insulting, and it's always from people who don't vector/vexel.
People who do make them accept how much effort really goes into it.

This is a thread on b3ta highlighting this problem I, and many other vector/vexel artists face regularly.
I'm sick to death of it, and I hope anyone can back me up on this.
If you do, use this:

Even if you don't create vectors/vexels, use it, or at least point it to someone who will.

I'd like to give a special mention to Rappola, because he isn't getting the pageviews he deserves.
Rappola is also a vector/vexel artist, who dabbles in photomanipulation also.
I'm pretty impressed with how quickly he's grasped this stuff.

And even since he made this, he's gotten considerably better.

I am scared of seeing your stepdad whenever he posts something.
He doesn't even talk to me, and yet I am absolutely terrified of him.

I try my best to be nice.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

In fact, I'm not doing anything wrong.
We're keeping to all of his rules.
It's strange, though. Really.
I think if our relationship were anything less, he'd easily scare me off.
But he'll never be able to do that, no matter how frightened he makes me now, or in the future.

I post less now, but I tend to become enthusiastic when he does. I keep trying to be nice, to impress him.
But it's not working, is it?

You have no idea how utterly petrified I am of him.

The story behind this scene is Cthulhu started listening to emo music, and is also affected Jerry.
Jerry has now become quite emo-style depressed and is cutting himself.

Richard and I are tagging along with Jess and someone else, it seems. Which isn't bad, because Jess and I are getting along now.

I love rollercoasters and rides.
I used to be terrified, (and still am) but the adrenaline rush is always great.
I first started to like them when I went to Parc Asterix, in Paris, and I went on a seven-loop rollercoaster.
I remember I was sitting with Georgina, and she and I were both chanting swears as the rollercoaster slowly climbed to its highest point and dropped into a corkscrew.

I really can't wait for this

And I wish you could be with me there, because I'm going to miss you.
But I'll be having fun, so be happy for me - I don't get to do it often!!!

I've had enough of dA relocating my vexels.
Yes, they ARE vexels for God's sake.

"I used paths to select the shadow and coloured it black, then I used paths to fill the skin tone.
I duplicated these layers with different colours, moved them around individually to create overlap and selected different blending modes to create an interesting effect.
Then I stroked some straight line paths and duplicated that layer, free transformed, coloured and blending-moded them."

I'm just sick of their ignorance now - I put effort into creatng a VEXEL. It is a VEXEL, not a "miscellaneous" piece of artwork.
I don't know why I'm so offended by this, but oh well, I am and they can just learn that vexels don't always look the same. What's wrong with a bit of individuality?

Apparently I am good at photomanipulating fruit.
I'll have to play around with things like that more often, it's coming out rather well :]

I don't think I photomanipulate enough, to be honest.

I can't draw very well, either, but last night I made something I really really like.
It's maybe my favourite drawing I've ever done.
Yes, it was in photoshop, but I only used gaussian blur twice, the rest is all brush, smudge, burn and dodge.
But I told the model I wouldn't post it unless she says I can, and she hasn't given me permission.
Maybe, though.
If not, as long as she sees it I'm happy :]
