Hey kids, just wanted to post a general update journal. I realized that I havn't been keeping my watchers super up to date and the ongoings on the contest and commissions.

Contest:
( criteria and rules can be found here: [link] ) although, the deadline has been extended until October 15th. Also, instead of having a journal to keep track of contest entries I will have a custom shoutbox on my front page with the entries and such. Plus, the more people who enter, the more prizes I will have. :]

Commissions:

( EDIT: )So it turns out that my commission fund is going towards my adventure to go see Kelly Clarkson with =Coloriffic c: the plane ticket is $250, and I am very willing to negoiate prices on larger commissions. <3 as far as smaller ones go, I have a bunch of good deals and such. :3 gahh i wanna go so baddddlly.

Also, I've decided to have some Limited Time Bargain Commission Deals! My normal commission rates are listed in my shoutbox to the right of my journal, but for a limited time, I am offering the following deals:

- 4 shaded photoshop icons for $15
- 3 photoshop cell shaded chibis for $18
- For any full body photoshop commission, the first and second additional characters are only $1 extra each. (third additional + would be $5 a piece)

Also, =Coloriffic and *iProxy have cheap commissions open because they are both in dire need of some fast cash for some real life situations. So go check them out, I'm commissioning both of them as well. <3

Other Stuff Going On...

So on the 21st, I leave for college, thus leaving the life I've lived for 18 years. While I'm excited about college, I'm very heartbroken about leaving all my friends here, especially ~Shawntavious <3. I'm going to miss him so much. So just bare with me if spontaneous vents pop up between owed art in the next month of so, I know there's going to be some. While on top of the emotinal turmoil I've already been going through, and trying to get over, this is going to add gasoline to the fire. So just bear with me while. <3

1. Why is your fursona named what it is?
bBecause my name is Sam and I'm super creative ;D


2. Why did you make your fursona the species it is?
I've always loved canids, and for reason a fox just stook out to me, it's smaller, but still cunning and intelligent. It holds a lot of character, and are absolutly adorable. :3 They're stealthy and limber and agile. teehee and fluffy


3. Why did you choose the color scheme you did for your fursona?
i actually drew out a couple color scheme concepts and all my friends agreed that the white/pink/blonde fit my peronality way more, and oh gawd they were so right.

4. What special bodily characteristics (wings, long claws, mane, etc) have special meaning?
uhh...sammy doesnt really have any of those.

5. What unusual markings or colors have special significance for your fursona?
her white base coat represents a pure soul, and a lighter more carefree sort of being while the fuscia secondary coat, shows the spunkiness of her personality. I really do have dirty blonde hair, light grayish blue eyes, and that shinjiru tattoo that she does. The cerulean tounge/pawpads kind of represents her sensuality/sexuality (and all the joyous fun that brings lololol), with might not make sense, but just stop and think about all the parts of sammy that are that color...And her black star is probably the most meaningful feature because the black represents flaw, kind of like one side of a yingyang, and stars are a very meaningful symbol to me, they show me hope in the hardest times. <3

6. If your fursona has jewelry/piercings/articles of clothing, what significance do they have?
Sammy has an industrial piercing bc i just think it looks cool :3 i've wanted to get one for a while, but have yet to go through with getting it. haha. who knows if i ever will. Other jewerly and stuff usually mimics something i own irl but she doesn't have a lot of accessories and they're all optional. I rarely draw her with any of them haha. she use to have headphones, but like i said i rarely draw them anymore, but they were just fun. :3


7. Does your fursona's personality mimic your own? If not, why not?
She is a smaller fluffy version of myself.


8. Do you currently have more than one fursona? Why, or why not?
no, and i could never have more than one "fursona". I have characters, and i tend to have parts of myself in all of them, but sammy is the only real representation of myself. Although I have drawn different forms of sammy, and I created a character to represent her shadow, uhdoom, which i don't draw much.


9. Have you had a different fursona in the past? If you did, why did you change it? If you haven't, why haven't you changed it?
Not really. Although before I discovered sparkledogs, and deviantart, she looked like a normal red fox with a blonde tuft of fur on her head. oh nostalgia...

Turns out that I'll be opening all types of commissions after all. I'm working on a top secret project that will requirte a great deal of money, probably around $300, and I have no job. :C So I need to make as much through commissions as possible.

If you want a commission slot, note me to discuss it :] I'd also greatly appreciate it, if anyone would be willing to advertise for me. <3


i'm also willing to negotiate with larger commission, things with multiple characters etc, especially for people who've had to put up with me in the past. haha.

I've decided to make a deal for commissions, since I'm in need of some money soon. D: If the commissioner's payment is recieved by August 1, they will receive a free shaded photoshop icon :] (if you're sending via snailmail, I'll give your deadline of postmarked by july 31st.

Also if anyone orders two commissions (of any kind), they will also receive a free shaded icon. (and yes, you can get two icons, if you meet both criteria.

Okay, so all of the entires were wonderful, and the judges agree that choosing was super difficult. And as much as I would love to draw you all something, I just don't have the time. D: Okay so each judge ( ~pyitoechito, ~mercswerve, and myself) picked their opinion of the five best (judged on the criteria) and their 1st fav got 5 points, 2nd got 4, etc. Then I totalled them together, and the top three were the winners. There was a lot of close calls but no ties in the top three, so no tie breakers were needed 8D and here are the results!!!!

First Place!

In The Snooow by ~Kitty-Kitty-Koneko with 14 points

Definitly winning first by a landslide, every judge felt very strongly that this piece accomplished the criteria and then some.

"Sammy the Skitty is sooo Sammy! It's happy and having fun! It's chibi-ish too which only makes it better. The detail of it is very very good. They are making a snowman which is actually in nicely detailed snow. This pic is very awesome because they are interacting fairly well. Sammy looks like she's gonna topple the snowman over out of giddy delight, but of course her poke-friend won't mind! theres enough snow for another!" - ~pyitoechito

Where typlosion isn't the cutest most cuddly pokemon around, the artist did a wonderful job of still sammyfying it. Sammy can be intense and rawresque too ya know ;D. "While its not cute-fun-time sammy, IT is epic-battle sammy!" - ~pyitoechito This entry's interaction was absolutly astounding. The subjects go perfectly into their environment, and the lighting of the fire sets the mood amazingly! I'm also in love with the color choices and composition here.

This entry is adorable and fits all the criteria nicely. It has lovely interaction of sammy pokemon and others, in their environment. "I love the lighting in the water and the way the sand does give dimension." - ~pyitoechito I also agree with that the lighting not only sets the mood more for the playful interaction, but it also is done wonderully and accomplishes a wonderful excample of underwater lightsources, which is pretty hard to accomplish.

So thanks for all the faves and watches while I havn't been very active. I took a break away from posting here, in order to try and do a little selfsearching with my art, and practice a little. I felt like I had forgotten what it was like to draw just for the joy of it, for my own fun. I have several pictures to show you guys, along with some edits to my dA page and sometime soon I'll be holding a contest of some sort. :] My shoutboard is edited regularly, and shows my progress with owed are and now has a box with commission prices (which are still closed btw). I will be leaving my other dA accout as well, and continue to post all my anime/human art here, because I want to love what i draw no matter what, and I shouldn't care what other's think about the difference on my furry/anime art. I will officially start uploading again on July 1st, so stay tuned. :] All of my owed art should be done by then as well <3


Oh and make sure to check out the link at the bottom of my journal to watch the video that inspired my new journal layout. And I still have a little tweaking to do with the header and footer space as well.

So january 26th was named last year, Sammy appreciation day (also known as S.A.D.). *FatPandaLynn and *koalakitty23 were the sweethearts responsbile for that. <3 and since today will be the second officially S.A.D. i will opening some sketch requests in honor of the appreciation of all of you C:. perhaps some might even be a little better than sketches, who knows 0:
