Right... now you're back, wasn't that an awesome film? I hope you didn't drop anything important, but it was worth it.
That is a really really good film. Not a 'great film' like the Dark Knight was, but it is an AMAZING film, with the first 15-20 minutes (that involving the USS Kelvin) being one of my favourite pieces of cinema.

I have only a few quibbles. Such as... warp nacelles. The Kelvin only has 1? That's impossible! According to Star Trek lore...
According to the internet that's another "2 nacelles in one" deely, like the Saladin class, and that one ship with 3 nacelles. But I don't know, it annoys me.
Just about everything else is good, especially the way it deals with the inevitability of the character's fates. Moreover, it's finally a star trek film that isn't stuffy.

If a new series of that calibre doesn't come soon I will be angry. (although if a new series like Enterprise comes along I will be MORE angry. Wrathful. ... People will die wrathful).

[link] er.. yes, as I was saying, those of you who read my webcomic know that there is a chunk missing, existing as a script only. For this week I've been slowly slogging through it (very slowly) and its going well. I have only one stumbling block. According to the script I require one competent comic artist to complete Jayden and Crusader's archives once and for all.

And by competent, I would describe myself as almost competent, I'm not looking for fantastic, just someone who can do backgrounds and keep characters on model from frame to frame. However the script does stipulate an artist of greater ability than myself. Bear that in mind.

If you want to do this please tell me asap and if you know someone who might want to do it, get them to talk to me. Four and a half pages. You get to look a hero (actually part of the script). Note me. Draw it.

I've been wanting to give your folks this option for a while, but I never felt confident enough in my art. But now I do. So here it goes.

:: First of all, what do you get? ::

You get a piece of art in my unique style delivered straight to your email inbox or, if you buy a pen and pencil work, shipped right to your door. I shall send you a high resolution version, suitable for printing, and a low resolution picture, for viewing comfortably on the PC. I withhold the right to use copies of the piece for my personal or corporate projects.

:: What styles do you get? ::

And of course it all comes in the mildly quirky Crusader style of representation. I'm just talking about colours here. I do not do manga style, marvel style, or anyone else's. I do my own.

:: What is the Pricing Plan? ::

Here's the fun part, where I talk about money. (moneh!) You will find my rates surprisingly good value. For the benefit of most I shall use US dollars for the rates here, as you should all know the exchange rate from your own currency to it (although it does appear to be plummeting in value).

For a Pen and Pencil picture, the rate is $5 plus $2 for each additional character and $5 for a background.

For a Full Colour picture the rate is $10 plus $5 dollars for each additional character and $10 for a background (unless I use a photograph, in which case it is free).

For a Soft Shading picture the rate is $20 plus $15 dollars for each additional character and $5 for a background (although it will be block colours, not fully shaded. Pictures can still be used as a background for free.)

For comics like Jayden and Crusader or Privateer a special rate can be organised, depending on the complexity of the comic. It would probably be a surprisingly large amount, it can take anywhere from 4-12 man hours to get a nice comic together (at minimum wage where I live that'd be between $40-$120 dollars)

I place a $10 surcharge on all fanart. I will do it... but I wont like doing it. (aside from the extra $10!)

If you wish to have your Pen and Pencil shipped to your home I will require you to tell me beforehand, other wise it will probably have the reverse covered in physics notes or similar.

:: How Would You Pay? ::

Currently, I don't even have a bank account. Thus, for the moment, that means no paypal option. For the moment I am going to ask for checks, or cash, in the mail to my address.

However, I now have a new excuse for some of my more recent... colour madness. When I installed new video drivers on my computer, about 3 or 4 months ago, it changed my brightness/contrast settings, so everything was a half shade darker, which at the time, I didn't notice. This meant when I was doing something with dark shades (like the trousers on my deviant ID) I couldn't really see what I was doing. Two days ago I installed new drivers for my PC which corrected the contrast ratios etc, and suddenly, gah! I can see! And all the glaring errors stand out at me. Its... really quite unpleasant. I was pretty happy with my DevID, and while I knew the shading on the trousers was a little... iffy, I let it be, because I thought no one would notice. Now I can see the colours as they truly are, the corrections that need to be made stand out. Its annoying.

Other matters:
I was digging through my hard drive, looking over stuff from almost a year ago and I found a quiz, thing, which I was tagged to do months ago, and did. Only forgot to post. So here it is!

Today I finished the last page of Privateer 0. The 5 page short... thing, which tells me whether or not to continue. People like it, but are disliking some bits of my art, which I vow now to work on. I will not put up a page of Privateer (after page 5 which needs a few more touches) until I am 100% sure there are no problems with it at all.

So be warned, it may take a while.

I will also be on less in the upcoming months, its exam season and I have to revise.

Privateer will go places, I hope, but it will take time. Be patient, bare with me. I don't want to draw it if it looks like a mokey scribble, so it will take some time to draw and redraw until its right.

On the AppleFish Studios front, I finally got an email from Vincent, the artist. His computer's blown up and he needs to build a new one, he's now got a full time job and his uni course starts later this term. Dear God.... this is annoying. Disturbing the Peace is on Hiatus until further notice, J&C is still update 'whenever'. Which I guess Privateer is as well, but that seems to be about once a week.

Also, the response to the "You lousy sods" line has been good. Turns out I am not forgotten, not ignored, people are just shy. Which is good. oox-anime-xoo and Cons have been great recently and its really cheered me up.

Now if only Hanishi, Jas, Andrew and WaiforPai would start talking again I'd be grinning like a mental patient.

Just to clear this up, you're not all sods.

Well... most of you aren't. Those of you who are, you know who you are. You make me sick.

Now, I don't want to be an attention #####, I am more than happy to just make comics/pictures for myself and my friends. However I sometimes feel as though no one actually talks to me. I never get feedback, I never seem to get comments and there is only so many times you can send someone your deviant art page before they start to get upset. So, the solution.
I want you people to give me feedback on everything that isn't a sketch. I want real feedback. I want to hear "No, that's terrible" "work on your eyes" "I like those trousers" "nice outfit" "Terrible design".

Also, the 2000 page views thing. I am quite proud of my 2000 page views, but I've churned out a lot of art, and seeing other people's page view count spiral away is getting agravating as I am stuck in the slow lane. I'd like to think I do a good job, at least from time to time, and I don't think enough people are getting to see it.

Just my thoughts... I'll... I'll be quiet now.

Oh and just to plug :iconconstantine2530: her work is imaginative and clever, even if it is a lot of fanart. Go there, look at her gallery.

Disturbing the Peace is going well ish. We, that is the artist and I, hope to launch onto the great wide interweb on January the First. That is, New Years Day. Reason being, then we can celebrate a years comic drawing, and the new year at the same time. I've written about a years, maybe 2 years worth of comic pages. Following the idea of Jubilations, you can now ask my characters anything.
There is no limit to the number of questions you can ask, and you can ask them whatever you like. Whether it be about money, jobs, aspirations, their past, their relationships to other characters, their favourate colour, whatever.
If you want to ask a question, send me a note, or if you are on my MSN list, as a lot of the people who watch me are, then you can send me an IM.

From Kensai: Dave, Adie, Sora, Max, Tom, Ælle, Mr Gale, SEL, Joe, Adam, Angel, or anyone else you can think of from it, those of you who have read it.

First off, I love writing, I've been hit by such inspiration since I got back to school its almost sickening. My mind, which is always swirlling with ideas, is now practiaclly vomiting them onto the page. In the last, week? Two weeks? I have written over 20 pages. 20 PAGES! That's a lot for part time writing. I am getting closer to the end than ever (well duh) but I am now quiet far beyond half-way. I can feel the plot beginning to close up, knit together, the final arc begin to come together. Its exhilerating and wonderful. Writing has always brought me joy, but now I can't wait to get cracking on Kensai.

In other news, I have found an artist, and he and I will be starting a new comic, Disturbing the Peace, which should be online... soon... ish... maybe. He's drawn two pages, I've written 25 scripts, its going places. I hope.

While still on the writing topic, I have discovered this bizarre ability, I can talk to myself using a chat room. I just log into an empty chat room, say hello, and write back to myself with an entirely different voice. Its not actually any of my characters, but its like a demi-character, who only comes out while there. its... weird, both useful, and strange.
Not worrying, but strange. I suppose its like talking to yourself, only typing it instead!

Moving onto my art, I've kinda lost the groove for J&C. Which is a shame, it really is. With DtP and Kensai, and just a failure of artistic ability, I have neglected it for the last few weeks. It shall return however, rising from the ashes like a phoenix, or something.
I've liked having Black Mage back, it was always my ambition to draw him more, and while I kind of... forgot how to draw him, its getting better, getting back into it. And I've been tweaking my 'official' avatar, the picture of my I use for... well, just about everything. Its similar, but not the same as its previous iterations, but its probably the definitive version, to me.
It also shows, very much, how much Crusader is a false image of me. Crusader looks totally different from Crusader1089, and niether look a... lot like me. Weird really.

Now copying and pasting from one of my deviation rants:
People complain a lot about self-deprecating humour. "Oh, if even you dislike it, why am I bothering?" or they say its an easy way to get a laugh, which it is. But I don't look at it that way.
Inside my head is a little voice always making snide comments about how I draw, and its useful to draw attention to this by addressing it in little cartoons like this. It helps me get better, as every time I address a flaw in a comic, I tend to try and fix it. It also stops me feeling so embarrassed by my art, because people find it funny, and enjoy it.

So... stop raggin' on the self deprecating humour, its surprisingly theraputic.

Also, I may do that new art meme, neko's or someone.
Maybe, perhaps, catch you later.
Only... i wasn't nearly as insane as I thought I was going to be... so... hmm....

Why does it take so long to make one 6 panel comic? why? How can there be so many people out there doing nice comics with full colour, of much higher quality, updating 3 times a week or more?
It bloody hurts!

And my new Intuos 3 comes. That is, if the delivery people dont screw up, which is more likely than not. Its a good thing I ordered it when I did though, a quick check on amazon tells me its £3o more now than when it was a few days ago.
It also comes with Painter Essentials, which will be fun to play around with for a while as I like to paint but I never have the paper or the patience with normal paint.

This should increase my productivity no end (I'm a lazy bastard and don't like to scan things in) and I have got a few things lined up I'm looking forward to drawing.

GCSEs suck btw.
