I'm trying new materials like watercolor pencils, pastels, etc. I know paint isn't truely new to me, but let's face it--my old paintings sucked. I'm trying to redeem myself in the painting world. I'm currently looking for a set of quality markers...like copic or prismacolor.

Well I came back for the first time in at least two months, and whattaya know? 15 favs from people I don't even know! I love you all--it made my day.

But wow...this year has gone by extremely fast, but real slow-like at the same time. Does that make sense? Like I can't wait until I graduate and go off to San Diego, but at the same time I don't wanna leave. SO MUCH has changed this year. I was thinking about homecoming ealier this year, and it seems like it was at least five years ago. Maybe I'm the one who changed. (Oh no...getting all philisopical...) I mean I was freakishly shy, and kind of a dork. I still am a dork, but in a very different way. And this may not seem like a big deal, but I look REALLY different. My school ID picture from this year was taken last year. Sometimes I let people see it and they act all shocked being like "WHOA! That's you? I mean it looks more like it could have been a sister of yours or something."

So there's my boring lil update. I had just noticed that I hadn't updated my journal in a half a year, and figured I should probably write something.

I just hated how my old embarressing pieces lowered the gallery stats.

Summer art class is done. My summer job is almost done. My mission trip was done near the beginning of summer. I got to help build the roof of the house this year which was very exciting! The only bad thing was I got tar all over my pants from working up there. When we finished the roof we had a little dance party up there. It was s0o0o0 fun and the Mexicans were all staring at us like we were nuts. Then the leaders came back from their break and got mad at us...

Anywho. I'm hungry. Oh yea...I'm getting a wee bit better at electric bass. And skateboarding. Skateboarding was something I was kinda into during middle school even though I sucked. But while I was in the community play I met a girl who's good with skateboarding. So she taught me A LOT more. Okay I still suck at it. But I'm getting rid of my cheap wal-mart board to get a GOOD one. Cause lemme tell ya...I'm so0o0o much better at skating on the good ones. I got it on e-bay since it would cost over 100 bucks at the shred shop. It's an Element and it's got rainbow mooses on the back. So...yup.

Now how was your summas? I haven't heard much from a lot of you. Or maybe that's cause I haven't been on DA a lot lately.

By the way my mood icon on the journal won't work. so I'm stuck in neutral. It's like this on most computers I try. Any of you got this problem?

Bear with me for a while.

Now I want pure and honest opinions from everyone: What should I do? Should I can myself from anime again and work on studying general porportions. Actually my main problem is making things crooked or forgetting details (did you notice I tend to aviod drawing ears? I dislike drawing hands..but I think I'm over that now. Plus there's feet to work on...)

I'm getting close to 6000 pageviews. I feel so unworthy. Some people on DA are younger than me and are WAY better. They even make money off art. I don't really care to make money off art, but it'd be nice y'know? I don't think I could ever sell origonals though. Even if I'm not all that great I treasure them. Not kidding. I kinda don't like giving away pieces of art that I drew. So if you have one--you're pretty darn lucky.

I think I'm getting off topic. What was my point? Oh yea...

I donno. Boss me around and tell me why I'm not all that great. Point out the wrongs. I think I gave the speech before...ah wells.

Not only that but a certain person kept bugging me that I was 'in anime lala land' and should get my head outta the clouds.

Well guess what?

I'm gonna go back to anime...but realistics aren't gone forever. In fact I plan on trying to mix the two and see what happens. Because I just plain miss having my head in the clouds. I don't really watch it or read manga anymore. But then one day I was in walmart and saw a Naruto manga for only $5. Being the sucker that I am I bought it.

Guess the intrest isn't gone forever, but I'm not a fanatic. Sometimes I find myself watching an episode of FMA or looking at fan art. But please....PLEASE do not try to get me obsessed with anything new. I'd hate to get another time sucker when I'm always so busy with school, and singing, and art, and writing my first novel...

I've seen people that have been on much much less than a year, and they've got more than twice as much credit. Jealous? Yeah, I guess so. Maybe my work is kinda crappy. Maybe I get more attention doing anime work cause it's more popular.

But I kinda like the idea of going realistic for a year. But this is no anime year, not realistic year. I could make a personal cartoony style to get me going. Or maybe I should try to just start coloring those realistic pieces. But I'm always very cautious when I do this cause I usually end up ruining my work with colored pencils.

I dunno. What's best to do? Any good suggestions? DO NOT say porportions cause it's been on my list for a while now.

Maybe more photos to get attention. But I don't like doing that because...to be perfectly honest, I get bored when I only take pictures. And it's not all that much work.

Sorry for the rant, but I just want some suggestions.

Anywho...art class yea. We start by drawing twigs with no sketchy lines or shading. This makes me want to scream knowing that I ALWAYS use sketchy lines and shade. I have resisted on my digital pieces to leave the shading until later, so it's not that bad. My art teacher stares at me as I draw for about ten minutes straight as though she's looking at some really complicated equation and looking for a way to critisize me. Then when she hasn't succeded in finding anything she just says, "Nice details," and walks away.

This is a beginning art class, considering I haven't taken one in several years. But oh well. I learned a couple of things from this site, right? I sorta feel like I'm one of the few people that is actually enjoying this class, while most are just sorta there because they find 2 study halls boring, or because one fine arts course is required. Oh well. Maybe when I get into a higher art class this will be more interesting.

I may also be grading papers at a math and reading program once a week as well. I'm going on a mission trip to Mexico with my church. That's why the Spainish notebook is left out of my homework burn pile. I think I'd like to be fluent in either Japanese or Spainish one day. Probably Japan cause I'm dreaming up this five year mission there after college. (kinda a big one but might as well try.)
I'm attempting to develop a drawing style that's my own. What I got so far still looks a bi cartoony but has a realistic hint. I might stick with it.

Anyways the worst of health class is gone forever! yay!!! (Literally forever! It's s0o0 exciting!!!!!!!!!!!) Now I have Asian Studies in its place. But I have a new digital camera too, so once I figure out how to put them on here, there will be a huge photo dump coming right after you. Whenever it comes, don't try to look at all of them because there are over 70 (I will get rid of some though).

One day we saw this thingy to go hiking to some waterfall. What we didn't know was that the hike was suppose to be about 11 miles long. I only hiked about four before realizing how dark it was getting to be.

There was also a whole lota mud on the path. Big puddles of it that you can't exactly go around. I ended up slipping and sliding through them, and jumping down little mud slides! yay! I bet I looked kinda like the slime monster. The holes in my jeans grew about twice as big, and my shoes were done for.

There was a stop at the beach about four miles down the road. That ocean is deadly to swim in. Apparently around 85 people died on their little visit to the beach, getting carried far away from the safe sand and drowning (no matter how good you are at swimming).

But there was a nice little pool of water protected from the deadly waves. It had a few large rocks between the ocean, with little waterfalls coming from the mountains (from the rain..?) Either way I jumped in without thinking. Jeans aren't easy to dry, but it was better to freeze than to burn up. At least I'm used to it.

So I'm no longer the slime monster? Nope, the water made it stickier on the way back. I pretty much ran back desperate to get to back, before collapsing. And I got POCKY! You know it's much cheaper here. Probably cause shipping doesn't cost as much.

SO WHY ON EARTH DID IT?!??!?!??!?!?! OMIGOSH!!!! YAYAY! I just wake up one morning, it's snowing, and I'm ready to go...yep. My mom calls the school, and they're say "Whattayamean? It's a snow day." She tells me this of all things. "ShE tElLs LIES!!!!!!! ARE YOU SURE?E?E?E?E?E!?!!!!!!!! oh good, i'm going outside..."

I attempted to take a walk, but I couldn't see anything five feet in front of me. I woulda called up some friends to get together, but the plow didn't bother to save me from cabin fever for a few more hours.

But it was all spiffy cause I missed a test and a quizzie! that was friday, by the way.

Most of my Christmas shopping is done. *sigh* Hmm...I guess I'll have more time to catch up on art then. Byers!

last year I was board in science class and didn’t want to study, so I asked a friend to borrow whatever manga she had.

SNOWBALL FIGHT!!!! *SPLAT!*

Wearing a sweat shirt and fingerless gloves isn't always the best for snowball fights, so I was hopping around feeling like an ice cube the rest of that day.

aw nutters! Anywho! Then there was Art club...I HEART ART CLUB!!!! I found a coupla pieces that other people were working on for the class. I know it's kinda pathetic admitting it, but I haven't had an art class sinse 6th grade *is whacked* but I like chours too! so...*Is trampled* But omigosh! they're s0o0 gougous. Perfectly drawn, fine shading, and the brightest most intense hues you've ever seen. I asked how the blazes they did that...and it's just from colored pencils. Several layers of them. So I'm going to attempt doing that.

-Telling someone that you go to the youth group at my church.
Because this is the common responce : *gasp* oh you mean that cult? A friend of mine went there and I never saw him again...
Yeah...people like making the lamest rumors about it. Why? Because there's a group at school that is competing with it. They pretty much do the same things as we do (without the Christian stuff). They're trying to slow us down. It's pretty safe to mention it in Spanish class, cause it's stuffed with people from youth group.
-and going behind the bushes/back of the bus
That's where the druggies are. Now you might think 'back of the bus? what about the bus driver?' Really, he doesn't care. No one's gonna catch them.
