And it all started, quite literally, on January 1, 2007. I wake up at 6 in the morning to find out my only Grandpa is dead. A couple months later, and my not-even-thirty cousin was no longer among us. Shortly thereafter, my mother narrowly avoided some ovarian disease, only to almost immediately be slapped in the face with breast cancer. Aside from my mother's treatment, all went well for a couple more months. Then what happens? Both of my Grandmothers are in the hospital for various reasons. And one of them very nearly died, from what I can tell. I know I consided it a miracle she's still around.

Feh, all I've learned from this year is that seven isn't lucky if it's preceded by a two and two zeroes. I've never been so glad for a year to be over and done with.

I had a little bit of embarassment in the Artist's Alley when I saw a picture of a character and was trying to guess who he was (my friend just wouldn't help there). Eventually I called him a crazy guy as I was remembering who he was (guy from Trigun who made Vash kill him), at which point the artist, a girl cosplaying as the same character, jokingly (or I hope so) acted offended at being called crazy. I need to pay more attention to my surroundings...

Speaking of cosplay, there were a lot of really good ones. Two guys were dressed up as Roman soldiers, and their outfits were great, simply incredible. Then there was a Dark Link, very detailed, splendidly crafted fiberglass sword, and even red contact lenses for his eyes.

As for myself, I was constantly bombarded with exclamations of "I found Waldo!" and the like, dressed up as the famous red and white ninja-man.

My friends, on the other hand, had more appropriate cosplay, one being Shaoran from Tsubasa and one as Allen Walker from D. Grey-Man. Unfortunately, none of us got pictures of ourselves while we were there, but at least one of us has found a picture online of us in costume (not me, it's harder than it normally is to find Waldo...).

There is some good news, though (sort of). Apparently, the author, who had been suffering from a disease for some time, told his family all the important plot points for the final volume, so it is CONCEIVABLE that the book may be released eventually post mortem, like a Tolkein book that just came out a few months ago. Hopefully he already had the vast majority of the book written with extremely detailed notes to support the rest of the story. A skilled writer, of course, would need to wrap everything up, but even then, who knows what the final result would be. May be good, may not.

At any rate, I'm annoyed as all get out (if you'll excuse the colloquial phrase) and I was really looking forward to the end of the series, though I've still got to finish two more books to be ready for it.

If only he could pull a Kenobi move off in real life...

On a different note, I got Metroid Prime 3 recently, and it's an incredible game. I've already played through it twice, getting 96% completion on the first run through and 100% on the second. I'm wondering what that secret ending actually means...

Well, my laptop still needs fixing, but I'll be sending it off for repairs soon. But before that, I hope to get a few things uploaded.

ANYWAYS! I just graduated from high school and I'm feeling more free than in a very long time! ...Too bad I don't have a clue what to do right now... Stupid summer laziness...

So what have I been drawing lately? Mostly chibis. I'm starting to get a little rusty with normal stuff (something to work on). I've got some more traditional stuff I'd like to upload as well.

I'm goind to have to send my laptop off to be repaired soon, and that means no new pictures for awhile. I don't really know how long it will take.

But there is good news (for me)! I've got a Nintendo Wii! It's all thanks to my dad! He even left work for a little while to pick it up from the store. He got freaking lucky finding one, and he almost didn't get it. So I've been playing Twilight Princess, Wii Sports, Elebits, and Red Steel, and I just love the system in general.

Less than 25 hours until Christmas. Ah, what a wonderful time of the year... Stuff for me!!! I'm getting lot's of anime this year (and almost nothing else). Serial Experiments Lain (creepy), Cromartie High School (crazy), Voltron Collector's Tin 2 (old school, yo!), and maybe a couple others. Plus headphones. I need them. My cat eats through them like they're magic chocolates of happiness. Plus there's this magical mystery box of enigmas. What could it be? Electronic stuff? Anime memorabilia? A dragon thingy? Socks? Aw, whatever. I'll find out on the 25th. I hope I find Pocky in my stocking again this year.

Anyways, I've got something CGed, but I'm not uploading it until I get another couple things done. For instance, this other thing I want to CG.

Oy, but didn't this year fly by at a crawl (somehow)?

EDIT: Whaterver you do, do NOT go see the Eragon movie! It's a terrible adaptation of the book, and a terrible movie in general!

On the other hand, my drawing skills seem to have reached a new level, all of a sudden, instantaneously. I can only guess that I work best under stress. Or maybe I just got past some kind of "skill-block" (kind of like breaking through a barrier, or something). Now if only I could actually color something or at least upload a sketch...

At any rate, I'll be happy when school lets out for Winter Break, provided I don't have tons of projects and assignments.

Also, this past weekend my friends and I went to our first anime convention, OMG! Con, in Paducah, Kentucky (there was NOTHING there (in Paducah, I mean, at least as far as I saw.)). It was fun, though a small convention (it's first year), and we'll probably go back there next year. In a few weeks I'll be going to Anaheim, California for Anime Expo. I just hope I can get my costume done in time (it'll be my first time cosplaying).

P.S. I turned 18 on June 2. It feels almost no different from being 17.
