So I had 2-3 months or so without updates and I once again said I was going to do something and then didn't [in this case the 100 themes]. If you've even slightly paid attention to these journal entries, you'd be thinking "So far, so standard" for this dA of mine. So nothing surprising or particularly disappointing there.

I've officially had this dA for more than a year now and these patterns have become normal. Period of no updates, period of a few in short succession, say I'll draw something which I don't end up doing, rinse and repeat.

Although I'm probably setting myself up for disappointment just for saying this, expect June to be one of those periods of updates in short succession (I've already done a few so I can't totally be a liar)

Also school's almost over yaaay and such.

EDIT: Just reached my 50th deviation, if that milestone is any sort of accomplishment.

"His busiest month was April 2008 with 7 (14%) of his deviations."

I'm gonna try to beat that high score this month if possible. I hate seeing that every time I look at my stats because that was my first month and I mostly just uploaded a bunch of old stuff I had done from a while ago D:

My friend's in my group of 4, but we can't agree at all with the other two. If it was just us we would've been finished already. =/

I don't think fanart vs. original character should really matter. If anything I just want to atleast get another full fledged illustration up (inked, colored, shaded.) I started inking the Masked Man sketch I already have up, in hopes of coloring it. And now I think I just jinxed myself. .___.

The good news is that the semester's almost over, and when it is, my business/character education class will be replaced with a computer graphics class.
...all my adoring fans- oh wait...nevermind. :[

Changed the little userpage deviation feature thingy on the left there. Went from a mediocre one to a somewhat less mediocre one. Might shade it at some point, or add to it.

I'm conflicted about drawing original art vs. fanart. As you can no doubt tell, my gallery is a majority of the latter. However, I do understand the importance of doing original work and what makes it better than fanart (for both my improvement and, possibly, the presentation of it) and I know how fanart is less original than original art obviously. So I agree with doing original art and I would like to, but...

Every time I think "Alright, enough of this fanart crap, I need to start making some of my own characters and really work on making something good," the very next day I get a new idea for a fanart I'd like to draw and thus drop the whole original thing entirely. Specifically I'd really like to do some big Pokey Minch thing, but that's going to take forever and I still want to try original art.

We'll see how it goes. In terms of original art, if anything, expect the WWIV characters. That'll atleast give them some sort of purpose, because we all know a comic is never coming.

(And speaking of Pokey fanart, I updated my 1 All Time Favorite in the Favorites section from my favorite Tentomon deviation to my new favoritey Pokey Minch favorite.
Hey everyone.

(tl;dr version at the bottom, but I'd suggest reading the whole thing. You're not THAT lazy.)

When your average joe, meaning a non-artist, thinks of art, I doubt that "stressful" comes to mind. Or, atleast, it didn't to me before I started taking art more and more seriously. I want a career in art when I grow up, so I do take art seriously as well as in a fun way. Rather, I take IMPROVING seriously. And not to toot my own horn, but, I have improved since I quit spriting.

Back when I had sprite comics, I'd often procrastinate on updating. I'd also often get bored with my current comic and just drop it, either sitting around lazily, or moving onto a new comic. Doing this didn't really have any consequence. It's not like my art counted as anything, and barely anyone read the comics anyway, so I wasn't really disappointing anyone. However, this getting bored and moving onto others things quickly without finishing the first is something that has carried on (in both art and literature.)

I keep starting then putting aside sketchs and pictures. Including those I promise to make FOR OTHER PEOPLE. Take that, and add it to the usual procrastination on schoolwork, and that equals a big uh-oh. There's also a big project I have to do from home for my Studio Art class, and multiple projects I've been putting off in-class as well. So that right there's art-stress-overload. Then, you take all of that and wrap it up in a thick tortilla and throw it into the mouth of the Finals and state tests I have coming up. So...yeah, I'm sorry for freaking out. I think starting this dA taught me a good lesson about getting overloaded with art, trying to do so many things at once. So, atleast I learned something.

Just give me until after finals (ends around June 20th.) I need to prioritize things, both art and school related. I need a little breathing space, and the calm mentality to not wanna grab my sketchbook back and start drawing a million more things to share with my friends of the interblag again. Just give me until after the school year, then I'll have all the time in the world to draw, and even color and shade, whatever I please. This dA will get rollin' then.

That's not to say there won't be any uploaded deviations for a month. I have a sketch done that I wasn't planning on inking or coloring anyway, so all I have to do is scan that. Chances are, you might even get one other deviation or so in that time. But that'll probably be it.

tl;dr wrap-up: My school's finals and Studio Art class's art festival are rapidly approaching. I'm swamped with work, and having optional art stuff to do for dA isn't helping. Thanks for understanding, and I'll still be active on dA, just not uploading much. See ya!

Hey, few people who come here.

Finally finished Captain Olimar. He's up, now. Thanks to some dA bug/glitch, the newest deviations and newest favorites sometimes don't show up on the front page. So, for both, you'll have to click Browse Gallery/Favorites and find it yourself. Sorry. Hopefully it either gets fixed/fixes itself soon.

Not sure what to draw next. The sketch pad hasn't been touched recently. I've got a lot of options in mind. I could draw something from Gurren Lagann. I could try drawing Sonic again, despite the fact he comes out horrible 99.9% of the time I draw him (the Classic Sonic that's up being the one exception so far). I could try something else Nintendo. I've never drawn Mario, or any Mario character, before.

So, why don't you guys drop a comment on this journal entry with your opinions/suggestions on what to draw? I'm open to advice. If nobody drops a word, I'll probably lean towards Gurren Lagann. And I know half of you haven't seen that anime. Soooo...if you don't want that to happen, give meh some ideas! D:<
To Do List:
Pixel Kirby (already drawn, inked, and scanned)
Unknown Drawing, possibly Lagann (not started)

Phew...that Olimar took a while.

I love the Pikmin games. I rented the first one when it came out, and I have the 2nd one. The only reason I don't play much (and thus, haven't beaten it. Not even close) is because I get a bit frustrated with how long it takes to unlock new places. I want moar places! MOAR!

Despite that, I like the Pikmin series and characters. Olimar is also my main in Smash Bros. Brawl. :3

I uploaded a picture of 3 Pikmin last night. So quickly, it's become liked! Already, 4 people I don't even know have favorited it. That gives me a warm fuzzy feeling. >.> I also wonder how they found it. Maybe, when I uploaded it, it showed up on dA's homepage? Or perhaps searching Pikmin brought them to it? Who knows? (EDIT: Wow. Just searching Pikmin on dA shows mine as the 4th result. Or, atleast, at the time of me writing this it does.)

To Do List for Deviations:
-Captain Olimar (already drawn, inked, and scanned)
-Kirby version of me (already drawn, inked, and scanned)

Until I finish Olimar...see ya then!

D:

Day Two of my devArt account (no, silly, I'm not gonna be doing a journal entry every day. That'd be annoying and stupid), which was practically my "day one" since I actually have deviations up now, is coming to a close. So far, all the deviations I have up are stuff I made in the past. They're all old shtuff (well, the Ness is relatively new). I haven't gotten any new things up yet, but they're on the way. A colored Olimar and Pikmin trio picture is coming soon. After that, a Kirby character version of myself.

Until then, have fun with my few pictures. Criticsm is wanted. Preferably with advice on how to get better, too. Don't point out the obvious, like, "LOLYOURHANDSSUCK" or "LOLYOUREYESSUCK." I know both of those. I need to get BETTER. In the meantime, go look at my Favorites.

Yeah. Started up a devArt, finally. 'Cuz, y'know, all the cool kids are doing it. And my Manga/Photoshop teacher told me to. And we all know he knows what he's talking about, right? He's like 50. He's wise, or something.

Well. There's nothing up here at the moment. However, talking about my Photoshop teacher just reminded me that I could upload the stuff I made in class.

TO PHOTOSHOP. AWAAAAAAAY
