I haven't been posting a lot of new work lately, but that doesn't mean I'm not producing any :-) I've been very busy with a lot of drawings and designs that I can't post online, due to restrictions or them being personal tattoos. I never post my tattoo work because it's all custom made for my clients and I wouldn't want anyone stealing the designs. It has happened in the past.

Just a heads up. Drop Comics, the smallest independent comic publisher of the Netherlands, will be attending the F.A.C.T.S. con this weekend in Belgium. Two releases that weekend: ACE #2 and Sanguis #2. The pages from Sanguis are avalaible in my own gallery.

Present in our booth will be writer Gert-Jan van Oosten, pencillers Jorg de Jong, Ranjit Dommisse and Nikola Boskovic.

Happy to inform you that the prequel to my comic has almost sold out! No time to sit back and relax though, as the release date of issue 1 is almost around the corner. I finished the first pages of that one in pencils. So that's coming along good. The plan will be to attend a comicon in Gent, Belgium in October where issue 1 will be available to the public. We'll probably attend Haarlem in June, just to show our faces.

Further news is that I made contact with a very promising adult entertaintment company that showed a lot of interest in my poster work. We launched our comic label Drop Comics this past weekend at the Breda Comicon 2010 in the Netherlands. With the launch of the label we released two prequel comics. One being Sanguis, a horror/thriller with art by me and story by Gert-Jan van Oosten. The other title is ACE, an action/comedy with art by Ranjit Dommisse and story by Gert-Jan van Oosten. The third title is in the make right now by the third artist in our pack, Jorg de Jong. His comic is called Vitreo and has a western theme to it.

Little news update from the fortress:

The prequel to my comic 'Sanguis' is finished. Pages are colored and lettered (thank you, Blambot) and is ready to be printed. The release will be on the Breda Comic Con in March 2010 which I will be attending with three of my good friends. We started a comic label together, Drop Comics, so it will be the introduction party of that label as well. Looking forward to that! It's time for an update again. What's on my mind lately? Well, ofcourse the seven sins pinups are almost ready in ink. I'm gonna start the last one, Pride, this week and hope to finish it next week. Then it's coloring time. I'm already coloring Lust at the moment, in between things.
Next to those pinups I'm also working on a pinup of a friend of mine. Once I have a scan of that I'll post it here with her permission. I'm very happy with it so far.

Other news is my backpiece. I went to the tattoo shop two weeks ago for an hour or two and now there's a lot more color (black) in it. So it's not only lines now.

A quick update of what I'm working on. I've recently finished the blue pencils of page 5 of Sanguis. Very happy with it and I'll start inking tonight and hopefully finish next week. The projects I'm working on...I did a little color on an Adam Warren drawing which I'm pretty comfortable with. You folks probably saw it. 1. I.m afraid to draw things when i'm in public. Just the thought of someone asking me for something to draw scares the hell out of me. What if i can't do it when they watch. That's why i tend to say at cons that i'm just the colorist. And even when they ask me to color something with plain old markers, i freak out.

We came back from a camping trip last friday and it took me a whole weekend to write back on every comment I recieved. Amazing! And I passed the 10K border!! Thank you for that.

As of tomorrow I'm starting with the pages for Sanguis #0. Next to that, I'm thinking of entering Rantz's inking contest and there's another page I have to make for Seatrade magazine. Also, that pinup I was working still has to be finished.

After waiting for almost four weeks I decided to give my new provider a call when exactly they would hook me up with a new connection. Seems that my application was lost!! So now I have to wait till the end of June before I have a proper connection in the new house...assholes...

I would like to thank everybody for all the nice comments lately. The requests for art are piling up, but I will have to dissapoint some people. My health still is bad and time isn't on my side either. There are some people I have a certain loyalty to so they'll be first in line to recieve work from me. I don't want to be rude or anyting. This friday will be the day. In all of the north of Holland Macbooks are out of stock so I made a phonecall to Utrecht which is central Holland and they have eight in stock!!!! I have two days off at the end of this week so I'm gonna pick mine up friday. Oh glorious day. I can hardly imagine what my life will be like after this weekend. And who cares if I can't make rent! I have my Macbook and as long as we're together we'll be happy.

It's been a while so I thought I'd give you people an update on what's going on lately.

Healthwise, things could be better and they could be worse. Arms and shoulders still hurt so when I make stuff it takes me more time. The physical therapy helps though and if I visit the gym at least twice a week, things are pretty okay.

At work things are okay too. It's still hectic, but with good organisation I manage to prevent myself from working overtime. I made a couple of corporate identities recently which are all in print now. Very exciting!

Well, 2007 couldn't have started worse. I visited the doctor this morning because of the pain in my back, shoulders and wrists and I've been diagnosed with rsi. Repetative Strain Injury. And it will never totally go away.
So...that means that I have to see a therapist and train my back at the gym. I'll have to be careful or it will get worse. All you people be careful and take care of the way you sit and put your hands and take breaks.

This is very hard for me, because next to my work as a designer which I love, my true passion is drawing and colouring. Just a little update for the people who were wondering what I'm up to these days. Well, thanks to my recent promotion at work (which is ofcourse very cool) I had to work a lot of overtime the past couple of weeks. So, I'm practically braindead at the moment. But next week I'm gonna start doing some coloring again and after that week, I have an enitre week off cause of the holidays. Things are starting to look up and in that period and after, I'll finally be able to draw some stuff again and work on the sketches that are lying around here.
Seems to be everybody's problem, TIME!!

Came across a cool strip the other day. 'Slum Nation' by an artist called Zolazabal. Can't find anything about him on 'the Google' (tnx George ;-) ), but everybody should check hist stuff out. Really cool. It's European and uses really original framing and beautiful dynamic colouring. I wish I could post something here to show you people.

We were supposed to go to Amsterdam, but the comics museum in Groningen also decidedto  be a part of the event so we could do it here in our hometown. Sounded good, untill we found out that the museum wanted to give it their own name. We bailed and got a venue of our own so the entire Koper Comics team sat in an art gallery a few streets down the road of the comics museum.
