Just an update

I'm still checking this site every day. I'm very alive even though I haven't shown many signs of activity.

Over time I've gotten around to sketching the art trade I have to finish. I've finished most of it but I haven't been confident enough to post it, I keep erasing and fixing things every time I look at the file.

I really want a project to work on, but something that I'd find interesting enough to go through all the effort it takes. At the moment, drawing is not really in my interest unless it's part of a larger project that would be fun and successful. I dream of one day making a project so successful that I'll have my own fanbase. It's only possible with the help and collaboration of others; I know that on my own I am nothing.

I wouldn't mind some web development work to do. If you want a website but don't know much coding, send me some design descriptions or images and I can build a website for you with everything included. When it comes to web development there are no limitations to what I can do. Dyanamic, interactive, efficient, customizable... Anything you want in a website, I can make it.

Losing inspiration and interest

I've been so bored for months. So much of my time wasted because I don't know what to do.

I know have done a few pictures over the months, but it's just a chore for me, I don't get anything out of it anymore.

I just want something to do, something that will get results. I'm a person who's not satisfied with being a follower. I want to be the creator of something that gains followers. A comic, animation series, videogame or even just a website.

I don't have the patience to do anything on my own, and I lack ideas anyways. My projects fail because either there's too much to do before seeing any results or I can't get ideas for the project.

When I'm able to organize something, there just aren't enough people with the talent who can help me, I always have to work alone. The work of five or six people placed onto me. I don't mean to sound egotistical, but I always feel I'm the only one who knows enough of what I'm working on and I can't trust other people with it, which is why it's difficult to pass work to other people even if I manage to get somebody to agree to help.

I still have an art trade to finish, I haven't forgotten and I won't forget. When I have the energy to get up and draw again I'll do it...

Tired

I hate fan fiction, actually. I'm just giving an example of how absurd some of them sound. Yes, I made it all up myself, that's how easy fan fiction is to write.

Anyways, I was just bored. I hope nobody actually liked my little literary piece.

Just another day

I was working on my next picture last week, but this weekend I've had to stop because I have some appointments with the doctor and I left my tablet back at my apartment.

I'm really tired these days...

I sure wish I was able to upload art with more frequency. I hate to watch all this time pass and I wasting it.

How about... a coloring contest!

Maybe it's because I've eaten little over the last few days, but I'm being positive and thinking it's because of the new medication to doctor gave me:
My pains have been little and much less frequent than before.

This means I'll be getting back into action. I propose to you guys a contest: I'll make some lineart and you color it, the best one wins. No limit to the amount of submissions. Prizes would be a free commission for the winner, a half-price commission for the second place prize.

I want opinions on two things, so please comment:

Would you participate in the contest?
Would anybody actually claim the second prize if they got it? (I know how things are when money is involved)

Update about my drawings

An update about health problems I've been having for months.

I went to the doctor today hoping to finally get a treatment for the pain I've been having. But the results of the tests the doctors did were unconclusive, so they have scheduled some more tests.
More than likely, I won't have the results before a month is over.

This means that my lifestyle is highly degraded until they finally get a treatment to heal me.
I'm not going to be drawing much, if at all, and I'm going to have to give up on any unhealthy foods for even longer until I get better. It's likely going to affect my performance in university as well.

Lack of activity

Over the last three days I stopped working on everything because of health problems I mentioned in a Previous Journal. It never really went away but I was better for a while. But now I've been in pain and haven't been able to concentrate much on anything.

I replaced my computer screen two days ago, since then I've been drawing each day. I finished a contest prize for *JohnTheJragon (A new sketch in my scraps) and I'm working on =Jennie-Wolf's contest prize. I might finish today or tomorrow (I finished the sketch and I'm working on the lineart.)

After that I'll start working on things of my own again. There are quite a few things I'd like to do.

While it's quite a while away, I'll announding this now:
The person who catches my 10,000th pageview (screenshot required) gets a free commission, people who catch my 9,999th and 10,001st get a commission at half the price it would have been. The commissions will be high quality pictures.

A the B (and computer screen update)

Hi, I'm just giving my opinion about character originality from Sonic fans. Don't be offended, I'm not targeting anybody in general, I just see these things on the front page all the time.

I ignore almost anything that says "A the B" because I know it's just another Sonic fan character. Even Sonic Team is not that unoriginal, not all their characters are A the B. Look at Miles Prower and Amy Rose.

In addition: When Sonic Team makes a character that's a hedgehog, it's not simply a recolor of Sonic, they make it look very different. Aside from hedgehogs, they hardly ever make more than one character of the same species and all of the characters look very different from eachother.

Superpowers and weapons: With the exception of Blaze and Silver (One from another dimension and one from the future, and both of them from games that hardly interfered with the main series), nobody has control over fire, water, wind... They can't read minds, they don't levitate. When it comes to competing with Sonic characters, it's just not right to make them faster than Sonic, Stronger than Knuckles, or making them be smarter and better at building robots than Tails.
Weapons? I've never seen a sonic character use weapons before (aside from Shadow and Espio). And you can do little with knives and swords when somebody's pointing a gun at you.

Cross-species: Hedgefox? Hedgebat? Echidhog? Different species are different species, it's ridiculous to think they could cross with eachother. Then there's the thing of putting wings on all the character.

Relatives and relationships: None of your fan characters are relatives or in a relationship with the real Sonic characters. It simply is not that way.

Now that I got your attention:
The real reason I'm writing this journal is to say that I most likely will be getting a new laptop this week or next week!

Hopefully with the Windows 7 upgrade program. That would be great. Then I'll be able to draw over the summer. I'll write a new journal when I get it so that you know when I'm able to draw again.

UPDATE
It looks like I'm able to replace the screen on my computer, so I wo't have to buy a new one.
My family had another laptop of the same model that had broken a year or two ago. The screen is still fine, and after investigating they found that it's not really difficult to remove and replace the screen.
In a day or two I should have the screen here and I can put it on my computer.

Might not be drawing for a while

While I don't have another computer or screen available I'm not going to be able to draw. I thought I might get one this month, but in the current situation it's not prudent so I'll have to wait until July and see what happens then.

Meanwhile, I've made a new journal skin. I just need a good title image for it. It's part of the design of the site I've been working on.

I don't have much else to say at the moment. My exam is on Tuesday and I have a lot of things to get finished before then.

Update

Hello, I'm still around. With such little workspace on my screen I'm not able to draw. However, I won't be spending money on a new computer until I'm finished exams, unless this one happens to break before then. I need my computer to do work for university. I've been backing up every file I create or modify several times a day.
If I'm lucky I might be able to have Windows 7 on my next laptop, rather than Vista.

There are many things that I'd like to draw, but I have to concentrate on studying, so getting a laptop now while this one is still useful for studying would distract me.

In other news:

I've been developing a website for my artwork, I'm looking forward to showing you.

The doctors did a blood test on me last month when I was having health problems. I am OK now, but I got the results of the test and they say I have Anemia, though they say the cause isn't lack of iron. At the moment, it's not an immediate worry, but they want to do another blood test to check my blood speed and other things (I heard this from them, I haven't seen all the papers) so I have to go back to there after the exams. Ouch, I hate blood tests.

I must take things easy or I'm going to get overly stressed again.

Half of the screen gone

The bottom half of my laptop's screen just broke, it's just a bunch of colorful vertical lines. I can't see the taskbar, but I can move around and manage things with alt+tab to switch applications and Control+Alt+Delete to access the Task manager to open any programs. The Windows button on my keyboard opens the start menu so that I can see the top of it.

I've backed up all my files and I probably won't be working on much because half the screen gone isn't the best condition for doing art.

I'm hoping my computer lasts a while longer.

Finally better

I haven't had any more pains and my fever is over. I think I'm well again, though I haven't received any results from the blood test I did on Tuesday. I'll be getting them within a week and they'll tell me if I need to take any other medication or not.

What bad luck

I finally was getting better and just yesterday afternoon I came up with a fever, 39.25ÂºC.

Between shivering uncontrollably and then sweating so much from one moment to the other. Hopefully the fever won't last long. Fortunately, I haven't had any headaches.

I'm doing better now

I left my apartment and went back home with my parents on Tuesday, as I was in a lot of pain. This means I'm not longer attending university. I know most people are already out of school by now, but my classes don't end until the beginning of June.

After a few days of rest at home and a softer diet, I am feeling pretty much better now. I am taking medications and will be staying here at home for a few more days.

Anyways, I'll be giving critiques to pieces I like from the people I'm watching, like [this one]. My drawings are also open to critiques if anybody (subscriber) wants to post one. The critique feature was a great addition to deviantART, but not enough people are using it yet (I don't agree with having to be a subscriber to write a critique, I think everybody should be able to write them but only subscribers can receive them).

I haven't started drawing anything new since I uploaded my last picture. I have two contest prizes to draw: one sketch and some lineart.

I've already been contacted by the second place winner, but I haven't heard from the winner yet (=Jennie-Wolf), so send me a note and let me know what you want me to draw. I should be starting the sketch soon, and I'll do the lineart for the winner right after.

I'm not missing ideas for drawing, but rather the time and energy for it. Doing a complete picture can take several hours, but I usually spread them over the days. Sketches don't take that long, and lineart only takes a little while, it's the coloring and shading that take up most of the time. I probably spend between 5 and 8 hours on it.

Backgrounds are quite tiring to make as well. But in the end it's always worth the effort. The colors, environment and atmosphere of the pictures make them vibrant and inviting.

Dealing with art thieves

Often I'm browsing the front page on deviantART. As common as it is, I eventually see edited sprites, recolored TV screenshots and all the rest.

Usually I just report them without looking back twice, but at times, I decide to ask them nicely to remove it themselves so that they don't just come one day and find their pictures deleted.

For his own sake, I will not post a link to his account so that he doesn't have people bothering him, but if you're really interested in knowing, you can send me a note.

But the point that I really want to get to is that you are not supposed to post this on deviantART. deviantART is a site for artists to upload their own original work.

I believe that a person cannot be too old to like things that are "only for kids". When you're 20 or 30, you may understand. You need to try to take everything less offensively and look at things in a different perspective. I am no "sick creep", and I do not like any form of pornograhy. But you make no effort in hiding how angry you are at being warned like this because you know that you are not following the rules. You know you are in the wrong, and at having no arguments to defend yourself, you resort to insults and offensive speech.

Back to the Pokemon Collectors Book, I am still going to varify that. In the mean time, I don't support any porn or whatever you call it. I'm a very angry person I will get back if you report me. I'm going to review the "policies" and see if you've vilated a few. Personally, I believe Deviant Art could be a better place if it weren't for your Pornographic art.

I had a good weekend. I've been drawing and I really like how my picture is coming out (see the sketch I posted recently in my scraps). I'm already doing the shading for it.

Hey, I'm surprised at the results of my most recent poll. A whole lot of people voted Roxanne as their favourite of my female characters. Is it because wolves are more popular? Or because she really does look better?

I'm opening a new poll, please check it out. It will have an influence on my next picture! Add a comment to it, I'd like to know opinions and ideas on the subject.

I want to make an interesting journal layout, I just don't have ideas, I'll think of it sometime.

Here's my last journal for the month, most likely.

I've finally fixed my sleeping schedule, which was completely random before. Now I need to get back to drawing again.

If you're watching my scraps you'll see I uploaded a new sketch, at the moment I don't really want to draw much but hopefully I can continue with the picture and get it done before January ends.

I made a poll recently. Should I paint my pictures without lines? 8 people (excluding myself) answered "I'm in between on that subject". Would you like to comment and explain why. I'd like to know what you think.

I've been investigating the new features of my profile page that they added recently for beta testers. It's really interesting. The only problem is that my userpage is already pretty long, so I didn't want to add too many new modules, like polls, extra featured deviations and custom modules. I didn't have ideas as to what to put in a custom module anyways. I want to make my page short and easy to look at but I also wanted to keep my favourites there for other people to see, and to show some of my new pictures.

I have been pretty tired lately. My sleeping schedule is messed up. I hardly have been drawing much.

I started sketching the art trade I have to do two days ago (it does not feel like that long), but I have not continued working on it since then.
Have patience, I have two works coming up, first is the art trade I'm doing with =Heartagramfox777 and the second is a picture of my own.

I think I will make myself a new deviantART ID sometime soon too.

Anyways, I would like to hear back from some people. I like to know how much people like my art, good feedback is what keeps me drawing.

The new year has arrived, and soon I shall be returning to drawing again, but I've been too busy playing games to draw.

I've been playing Sonic Unleashed (Wii) and Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn.

As for the Christmas request, in the end I didn't get enough notes to give out the request to somebody, and the new year has come, so I won't be doing it.

New pictures will be coming, not this week, but next week, possibly.

Holidays

I will be returning home for the Christmas holidays in just two days from now. I probably won't be drawing a lot, because it wouldn't be great for my parents to walk into my bedroom and see my pictures on the computer screen (Tell me what your parents would think seeing my pictures on your screens).

Art style

Once I've changed my art style I cannot go back to what I used to do. I'll be drawing all my serious pictures with my new style. I've improved greatly but I'll continue to do even better. What's your opinion on my new style?

Christmas request

Just to promote my art, I'll be taking a single request. I'm going to select the person I do it for in a random way so that it's fair: rather than "first come first serve" I'll do the request for the 8th person who sends me a note about this journal. If I don't have eight notes before New Years (which is likely) I'll cancel this. I'll update here once I've gotten eight notes.
But stop and read the following before sending me a note!
I only have motivation to draw things that I like to draw, (and when I lack motivation to draw I can take months or just give up entirely) therefore:
- I'll just be drawing furry girls.
- Only foxes, wolves or dogs.
- I'll draw them in the pose you ask for.
- I'll only draw a simple background.
- Nothing explicit, nudity is allowed only from the waist and up. (As in this picture: [link])

I call it "Christmas request" but I can't give any date on when I will finish drawing, I can't know how long I will take.

Greetings,

The holidays draw close, and my birthday as well. Only those who know me well can find out when it is exactly.

It's cold here, but I do like snow.
I like seeing decorations. All the houses covered in lights, reflecting off the snow, and the tree. Christmas dinner and special treats.

I await the holidays, and Christmas, but equally, I watch the time going by too fast. It is getting dark here really early, which is just fine, day and night make no difference to me.

I shall begin my next drawing tomorrow, or possibly today. It will be featuring Lynn (one of my characters, in case you didn't know), so keep your eyes open. I may be posting a sketch in my scraps. I like feedback so it would be nice to hear opinions from you all before I continue.

I've finally got all my requests overwith. I have several pictures planned. I'm just sketching the first one at the moment, which I have uploaded to my scraps: [link]

I'll be drawing a high quality picture of each of my female characters, making improvements in my technique in each new picture.

I hope to receive some constructive criticism on my pictures. It's nice to receive compliments, but criticism is also helpful.

I guess I can use this word as the title for this journal. I just have a series of things to say.

I only have one more request to do, it's for *jamesprower. It's so hard for me to do requests, I just don't have much motivation for them since it's not something I'm interested in. Like I mentioned somewhere else, I'll be doing this remaining request in my old cel-shaded style, after that I have no plans on doing any more requests.

I'm going to be drawing a lot of pictures for myself, I'm planning on improving a lot. I'd like people to offer critique for each picture I draw, telling me everything I could improve. Anatomy, colors, illumination or anything else you find missing or wrong in the picture. I don't mind critique, but don't confuse critique with comments like "I don't like it" or "It's bad". Critique means telling me how you think I could have done better.

If anybody is friendly and talkative would you be interested in talking to me on Windows Live Messenger? I really don't have many people to talk to and my conversations seem to end quickly.

Hmm, I do not have a lot more to say. I find university very frustrating, it's a heavy weight on me and it only makes my current problems worse.

A message for good artists, please read

Hello, everybody who's watching me or whoever else is reading this journal.

I'd like to ask you to tell me how I can improve my pictures in any way. I want to make a large change in the quality of my pictures, but I don't get enough critique. I like people to say good things about my pictures, but I'd also like people to tell me everything I could improve so I can apply it to my next pictures.

I want to make my pictures nice to look at, something that people would want to come back to see again. I'll need some advice from the people who know about art. So if you really know about art, feel free to go through my gallery and comment on my pictures giving advice on how it could be made better.

Shading, coloring, anatomy, lineart, I'm sure I need to improve it all. People don't become good artists if they're never told how their pictures can be better.

Greetings to all,

I have been working slow on the remaining two requests on my list for I have been tired. I shall eventually complete them, my progress on them is going slowly.

I shall be keeping my Art Status Journal updated with the status of the drawings I am yet to complete.

I need a good reason in order to have motivation to draw. That reason may be that I like the result of what I'm drawing, the reason may be that I like other people to show interest in my drawings.

In the case that a lot of interest is shown to my drawings I may do some more requests, once the current ones have been completed. Until then, I shall draw pictures for myself in stead.

All Hallows' Eve draws close, be aware for swift creatures in the shadows.

Building websites for free

I want to make myself a good portfolio with what I do best, which is web programming. So for now I'll build a few websites completely for free.

If anybody's interested I can make websites for them. I can take your ideas and turn them into code.
I can make dynamic pages, and even program things like guestbooks, news systems and comments.

I have over three years of experience. I know about database security, website accessibility, usability and the most efficient way to build pages.

I use the following languages easily: HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP, SQL.

I'm not a designer though, you'll have to give me a description of the colors and general layout you want me to give the site.

Blender 3D

I downloaded Blender 3D two days ago and decided to start learning. I've tried 3D Studio Max before (A very expensive 3D editing program) and I'm surprised to see that Blender, an open-source free program, is completely equal to 3D Studio Max in power and usability.

I don't know if I'll ever get good enough to make something I can show here, but I'm trying to learn. If any 3D artists have tips to help I'd be glad to hear.
