back from a GLORIOUS week in London, during which I met Derren Brown (swooooon!) sawe the fabiola room at the national portrait gallery [link] was drunkenly mistaken for a woman 10 years younger than I, met some fabulous people in the Caxton bar *and* sang a potentially ill advised accapella version of 'Valerie' at an 'open mic' night with a lot of missing words and drunken slurring, but still managed universal applause.

Bought far too many books. Bad science, The stuff of thought andf Physics of teh impossible, I am having a break from fiction as it is starting to jar, how I see the twist coming from a good few chapters away (I'm looking at *you* CJ Sansom)

*and* after eating terribly for a week (cooked breakfasts and a variety of vegan take aways) and adding to primary stage liver disease by drinking heartily, I still managed to lose 5lbs in 9 days.

Off to Rothesay tomorrow. can't wait!

I'm in London for the day, it's so nice to be home, it's like a weight being lifted. have fancy schmancy do at the traesury tonight (yes, really..) so have my polo neck and long sleeved business suit ready to roll.

whilst obviously copyright theft is the sincerest form of flattery it sure don’t put food on the table to feed my babies. Please feel free to tell this thief what you think of them and whilst I abhor giving them the free publicity and site hits that this rant will send them, I think it’s important that people let them know it just isn’t morally right to do this. Given that I will be getting legal advice, I am sure that anyone who sees fit to comment will do so graciously and I do not endorse the more forthright comments I am sure their actions will attract.

I am not a person to be fucked with or taken lightly.

I am working on some paintings which I shall post on my ‘dahliablack’ account when I have a mo.

On a personal level, I am very busy at the day job – having managed to get through to the final hurdle of the accelerated promotion scheme that we run in the British civil service,. I have a couple of trips to London to go and then, if successful will be elevated to Whitehall mandarin and in around five years hopefully be tucking away £70k a year. I shall be able to get central heating in my starving artists garret, and not have to dumpster dive quite so much in order to feed my fatherless children because someone stole my paintings. ‘ ’.

And I’m off to see ‘scars on broadway’ on Saturday, which I’m really looking forwards to. I shall unleash my inner 14 year old boy.

I had a lovely trip back home to London last week - saw Chicago at the Lyric (which wasn't as bad as expected given that I am a discerning theatre goer and the cast looked a bit weak) the choreography was too much like the film, the choreographer got an easy pay check! I went home for a swanky job interview (polo neck, ears out, hair down, subtle make up) in Whitehall, which i don't think went brilliantly, but it was lovely to breathe London air and wash in London water On my way to the interview, i rounded the corner to trafalgar square to 'no place like London' on my IPOD and teared up.

other than that, i got to go to the National Portrait Gallery to see the portrait prize exhib and the lovely portrait of Zoe windle by Jason Brooks, then off to the tudor section, which i love - how everyone looks kinda the same. got some fab bargains in the cass art sale as well. even better we're back next week (yay!) for a wild 48 hours and attempting a couple of days of the lOndon convention.

In other news, i just finished the Derby Tattoo convention official T shirt (will post it when i get a scan) and have been working with the lovely darkside clothing on some bits and pieces. I potentially have a flash set coming out with Jenny Clarke early next year (watch this space for me extracting my thumb from my ass and actually getting on with it) and I'm developing my own website ( so you won't be able to buy prints from here anymore!)
