Because we, the devious friends who go to Cluj organized devmeets, wanted more time together traveling around the country, we decided to go somewhere far away this time, like… Sibiu, in the heart of Romania! Each devmeet we go further and further… I think we’re gonna soon leave the country and make a Hungarian devmeet

Well, after 12 devmeets I arrived at the conclusion that each devmeet is special. This one had its characteristics, as well. We had 2 full days of walking through Sibiu and getting to know the city better, take photos of everything around us and enjoy the warm weather. Thank God it didn’t rain! We didn’t have any clear objectives in our mind and maybe this made it more carefree, more bohemian.


Here’s how everything started:

3 deviants - *Danutza88 , ~Corsico , ~treemurici77 waiting in front of the train station in Cluj at 4,40 a.m. (yes, A.M.!!!). After some minutes, ~Diangos and ~ralcool arrive and tell us that if it wasn't for ~Diangos’s father who has woken them up, we wouldn't have caught the train The thing is that they had THE TRAIN TICKETS with them! Soooo, no Sibiu if they would have been making ZzzzZzes, ain’t it? In plus, the 6th deviant, =ghost3k, was missing! There were just 5 minutes left until the train was going to leave the train station and he wasn’t there, with us. Some of us thought he’s not going to make it on time, but guess what: James Bond can’t beat Alex! Neither can Valker, Copşan Ranger! So, of course, in the end all the 6 of us were sitting sleepy in our uncomfortable chairs in the uncomfortable, blue train that led us towards Copsa Mica. Copsa Mica is the train station where we had to change the train towards Sibiu. (You need to remember Copsa Mica! You’ll see in the Funny Quotes why!) Anyways, without big events we managed to get to Sibiu by 9 a.m. and that’s how the party started. We began making fun of things around us, like the fact that people there were “selling Rodicas” (Rodica is actually a girl name in Romania) and that Sibiu had a lot of centers (East, West, Central Center ), that there were weddings taking place there and that Sibiu has Fornetti shops too! After 1 month and a half of harsh work, selecting entries for the contest and then giving marks, results are in!


It was my first contest and it wasn't easy at all, but in the end, it was fun! Judges helped me a lot and I want to thank them!

First, I want to thank Sinan, for liking the concept of The Blind and thus making me think of a Blind Contest. He started everything! Thank you, Sinan, for all the help and the patience!

Another Cluj devmeeeeeet! (If you wanna join our devmeets, please tell us as soon as possible. Next month we'll have another one, possibly in Sibiu!)


Devmeet 11 was an amazing, yet short, 2 days tent trip to Valea Draganului. We went there by train, on Friday (14th August) afternoon and stayed until Sunday afternoon (16th August). It was something Iulia and I thought of when we formerly visited Valea Draganului and … IT CAME TO LIFE!

First, let me tell you who joined the adventure:

Alex, the first timer (no sleeping in tent before)

Raluca: Heidi, the girl of the mountains
(NEW) Ovidiu, the one who cooked for us and made a lot of good quality jokes

Manu, (NEW) Ovidiu’s girlfriend and Raluca’s sister
Radu, (NEW) Tudor’s best friend, one of the most organized people I’ve ever seen.
Iulia, our beloved host, who knew the places and made all this possible (talked to Gabi etc etc)


Now… presenting you the schedule of the days.

Friday

A rainy day was welcoming us to Valea Draganului. What a freaky day! We had to find a place to stay for 2 days and tents had to be installed. How to do this on a rainy day? Well, thanx to the almighty Gabi, Iulia’s uncle, who was so kind to give us a lift from the train station to wherever we would want to stay, it was all possible. Girls remained at his house and he went up the hill with the boys to help them install the tents. After some hours we all reunited. Our spot was wonderful! Due to the weather, thick clouds (or fog?) were floating above the lake (yes, we camped on a hill, above the Floroiu lake, near the dam.) We didn’t have time to do many things because it was getting dark. We just managed to shot the absolutely gorgeous landscape (now I thank God it rained that day) and to eat in Tudor’s big tent at the light of the flashlights.


Saturday

Woke up and cooked. For a loooong time. Then, we climbed the huge concrete thing we weren’t supposed to just to have a better view of the surroundings and take some photos. In the amazing afternoon sunlight we walked until the dam, went to a waterfall and just enjoyed being there. I’m telling you, that landscape can’t be described! It’s absolutely gorgeous! Then we cooked eggplants (yummy!) and Tudor taught me how to take some “lonely tree” photos. When the night came the boys ignited our campfire and we stood around it and sang. I watched the stars. They were so many, so close, so big! Nights in the mountains are amazing!!!


Sunday

Last day, packing day. Spent time around the tents, ate, packed everything… We all wanted to stay some more days, but unfortunately life isn’t always as we want it. Society’s rules and having to work make you feel like you’re living in a dream every time you escape the city which drags you inside the harsh real life when you go back home.

Devmeet 10 Impressions

Woo-hooooo! Finally! One week ago we went to the 10th devmeet ... another wacko one Of course we had a new interesting idea of a place we’ve never been to: Banffy Castle located in Bontida village, near Cluj. (Find more info about its history here: [link]) I’ve always wanted to go there and I knew that was going to be a fabulous setting for a photoshoot So, here we were, the 5 ones who remained in Cluj and the ones who never say “no” to a devmeet

To be able to arrive there we had to take the train (yay!!! I trains!!!) and as we got to Bontida we had to walk for about an hour to get to the castle. Long way, mucho calor, but we succeeded to arrive at our location by always making jokes and laughing. Home sweet home

I'm finally home from the trip I took with my family. We've been at Marghita, near Oradea and at Arieseni, in Alba district. The best thing from Marghita was taking baths in warm water while watching the stars (the pools had termal water). That was amazing! Sleeping in a tent was wild, too I remembered childhood while eating ice-cream from the dozer and Bonibon.
After 4 days we went to Arieseni, in the mountains. Passing from hot weather and swim suits to several layers of clothes was too sudden. In the mountains, the weather was rather chilly.
Anyways, I had a good time in both of those places, but I missed Cluj so much! It's good to be home

I donno about you, but I'm enjoying these sunny, summer days so much!!! Most of all I love the sunny mornings Aaaah, fresh air, clear sky and nature. Mamma mia! I'd love to travel! And I will! Next Monday my family and I are going somewhere in Hunedoara. Woo-hoo!


This week I've been sooo lazy. When I'm lazy I cook with my best friend, Anca. Her grandmother helped us make a cake and today we made a mushrooms dish I looove mushrooms!

1 Year of Devmeets in Cluj

It's almost hard to keep up to how often we're having devmeets lately But it's soooo comforting to know you're gonna go meet your friends who don't blame you because you're taking a photo to almost anything and most of all, who make you feel like home when you're in the middle of them

Ah well, it's been a year now. A year and 9 successful devmeets organized with love and dedication for having a good time with fellow deviants Honestly, I didn't even think we're gonna get here. I just know I dreamt high and having people to come to the devmeets helped I smile when remembering all the devmeets we've had until now and how close we get to being with each devmeet. I love each of you who joined the devmeets and helped me form a nice, little devious family

Happy Aniversary, dear ones! La cat mai multe devmeeturi in anul care urmeaza! Cu voi aproape, sigur o sa gasim idei nastrusnice si-o sa facem mereu altceva la fiecare devmeet!

Devmeet 9 Impressions

Acest devmeet aniversar a fost compus, fata de alte dati, din doua parti, desfasurate in 2 zile consecutive Yeah, as you already guessed, n-am planuit sa fie asa, dar ne-am hotarat pe parcurs. Si, bineinteles ca se aplica si in cazul acestui devmeet proverbul "Socoteala de acasa nu e aceeasi cu cea din targ."

In prima zi, vineri, 26 iunie, ne-am pregatit sa ne uitam la Comedy Central si sa facem prajitura cu visine (yummy!) si pana la urma am ajuns sa facem mancare muuuulta (supa, cartofi prajiti SI prajitura) si sa ramanem la glume in grup. Ce sa faci? Eram devious flamanzi De-acum incolo o sa facem food devmeets si recoltam noi devianti pentru devmeets doar daca stiu sa gateasca

Ideea centrala a devmeetului 9A (ce tare suna) e ca fiecare deviant care-a venit a ajuns sa puna mana pe ceva si sa faca parte din familia de furnicutze harnicutze care fac papa pentru a hrani poporul ... adica pentru ele insele!
Ma bucur ca la acest devmeet au mai venit persoane vechi care lipsisera in ultima vreme din diverse motive si ca am reusit sa pastram aceeasi atmosfera vesela chiar si cand aveam in fata un munte de cartofi de curatat, taiat si prajit, multa faina, oua Drulius, unt si lamai pentru limonada Weeeee!

This morning, before going to the last exam I found out that Michael Jackson... died... I'm devastated. I wasn't a huge fan of his, but, as a friend said, the child within me died a bit since finding this out. He's that kind of person you always want to know alive, even though he doesn't sing new songs.

Dear diary,

Today I went to my 6th exam. One to go on Friday and theeeeen... summer is ALL MINE!

I'm thinking more and more about other people enjoying summer while I study for exams. It's so hard to motivate myself, but... at least this mini hell is going to end this week!!!

Today I thought about attending the Photography University in my town after I graduate Psychology, but I need a new camera and plenty of money. So, I think it will remain just a nice dream.

Dear diary,

This Saturday my devious friends and I made another devmeet! Again, a spontaneous one This was the first Cluj devmeet organized by =anda0105 I'm so proud of her! The reason for meeting again was to put into practice our idea of making pancakes at somebody's place. So we went to Anda's


Had fun:

Ah well, that's what breaks are made for. To enjoy summer and daydream about summer plans

Al saptelea devmeet a fost cel dedicat bancurilor, se pare. Din cauza vremii nefavorabile si a localului prea zgomotos nu am reusit sa ne cunoastem foarte bine cu noii veniti (implicit cu brasovencele care erau si-asa foarte obosite). Insa, noroc cu Diana care s-a apucat sa zica bancuri si astfel a dezghetat atmosfera. Partea proasta a fost ca nu le auzea toata lumea si trebuia sa le zica in reluare Apoi s-au apucat sa zica si altii bancuri si-am tinut-o tot cu zambetul pe buze o vreme buna.

La inceputul intalnirii nu incapusem la mesele din Zorki, iar spre sfarsit ne-am rarefiat ca si ozonul Dar cum, ce e mai bun vine la urma, am papat si fistic si-am vorbit cate-n luna si-n stele despre toate cele (fac rime, hihi).

After all this time I haven't written anything it's time to keep you up to what I'm doing (not that you'd need this) Well, I'm very very busy with school activities and working on projects. The exam session is close, so, I won't be around as much as I was before, but you'll still notice photos posted from time to time and maybe some new journals announcing my pain and sorrow while I'm learning for the exams

Anyway, I don't want you to be bored, so, here's how my "red summer" idea popped up: When I was attending a course my mind slipped to summer... and then to red. Why red? Because poppies are red! and so many other fruit and vegetables and things around us are as well, red during summer. So, I gathered some of the most beautiful photos of the "red summer" concept. I'll be posting an article too, so the journal will be a shortened version of that.

Lume multa, japoneze imbracate in kimono, cactusi goth si plante o mie, dar... no free food. Ce faci in cazuri de genul? You buy the food yourself. Cartofi umpluti cu bunatati de la Deliciul Cartofilor, Mc Donald’s, KFC, poze si voie buna. Am stat ceva si prin Food Court iar la plecare am iesit pe terasa si ne-am pozat siluetele minunate in soarele amurgului pentru a incununa o zi calduroasa de primavara.

Holiday

It's still holiday and I'm enjoying every bit of it It's so sweet to be able to rest as much as you want under the gentle rays of the sun... It hasn't rained for weeks and it's awesome like this!

Are you preparing for Easter or do you think this celebration is not important? (Please, answer the poll: [link])

I don't want to make you say "Oh, no, there she goes again, babbling about religion!" but I feel the need to remind you that Easter is not just another feast people invented. Some say it's even more important than Christmas because through Jesus's death we were rescued I know, you might not be christian, but for the ones who are, you should know Easter is highly important for our future

On the other hand, nature's amazing this period! I can't believe how quickly all the trees bloomed all of a sudden and how many colors I see everywhere around me! Spring's wonderful!

School's left behind, coz holiday starts! I'm so tired of having to read so many scientific articles and going to school everyday... poor high school students. I can't understand how I was able to go to school everyday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. It's so difficult now


Aaaanyways, let's feel the freedom running through our veins, go outside and enjoy the good weather!

Ok, I know people have been waiting for this, so here it is:
On devmeet no. 5 we went to Hoia forest. We were 8. Just like in devmeet no. 2 when we went to Faget forest.

What we did?

Ah well, this trip was amazing. A long way towards a clearing I knew. But, as in fairytales, we had to pass through a series of things to get to the grand finale we've all been waiting for

We had to climb a rough path to the top of a hill (that was exhausting!!!) because we chose the hard way (why, oh why?) Anyways, we got to the top and decided we want to move on, not to settle down so easily sooo there we were, going to the clearing I knew.

Next to come: Tomorrow going out traveling with my family, on Sunday devmeet no. 5 with my dearest friends from dA, on Monday we go visit the Oncology clinic and I'll be given a cancer case and go talk to the parents of the kid and help them feel less distress and on Tuesday... pam-pam-pam... I'm gonna be 21 Legalized to drink in every country Like THAT would characterize me

It's definite and for sure! It's my favorite season! It's been all the way, but today, due to the perfect day outside, I remembered how much I love it!

Mmm... about photos... I think I finished my winter photos, sooo, let the spring begin, dear ones! I also want to thank the ones that answered positively to my last journal and made constructive comments to help me improve! Makes me want to work more and make you be pleased with me

About school, well, I skipped an entire day of courses and seminars and stayed in with some friends watching movies all day long It was the feeling of freedom, the "I don't care, I need a break" kinda thing And it worked!

About extra school activities: I went to see the kids with Little People for the first time this Thursday and it was so nice! We played cards, and drew and the kids were so lovely. You couldn't even notice they had some illness. And my kids from English lessons... One of them is really intelligent! We're talking about Van Gogh and Brazil and I just love it that he makes me keep up with him. I don't even feel like being his teacher! We're two people who try to learn some English while having fun

Uhm, I guess that's kinda everything until now. About each of us. We make up the world around by thinking. We buy new cameras, take photos and hope we'll become better photographers. We need help. A lot of help to grow up in photography. Constructive comments. But we're lazy. Too lazy to help the others, although we want to be helped.
So, why don't we make up a nice, beautiful dA community and show people we care? I told myself so many times I want to explain people why I fave their photos, but we seem to be in such a rush. All our existence is a rush. A rush to nowhere. Let's stop a bit and look around. Let's help the others improve if we want to improve! Yes, feature, but also explain the faves! It's really important! Oh, and if you don't like the other photos, tell people WHY! It's important! Don't be quiet! Quiet's like a death penalty. Wake up and do something!

Passing to something else, I want to thank my Romanian fellows who gave me ideas for my university's photo contest and to the ones who helped me pick photos. I finally sent 3 photos and I hope I'll get something. Keep your fingers crossed! Oh, and special thanx to *my-eyes-your-windows for post-processing one of the photos!

I'm doing so many things lately! I'm teaching English to 2 kids, I'm gonna start visiting the kids I told you about months ago with the Little People Association, I'm involved in Health Psychology Circle and we're working on a project to help the parents of kids with cancer feel less distress, I just joined the Developmental Psychology Laboratory and we're going to work on research (yay!) In plus, I have 2 presentations to prepare for 2 of my classes and we're given articles to read each week! Oh, but a future psychologist's life is so nice! I can't complain!

And... last but not least, Ii's finally SUNNY outside! Although lately it happens a lot to snow in the same days it's sunny Oh. I just remembered. I've been to pick snowdrops with my family last weekend! It's been a whole adventure! The last photos with hills and a bit of snow are from that day! More to come SOON!

Spring is tricky

Oh well, it's about time to change my journal Spring is tricky. It's been raining in the past week and that just annoys me. I'm a sunny person, i LOVE the sun and I pretty much can't stand rain. I mean... I like it sometimes, but usually during summer when it's warm and quick not during autumn OR spring. Although I know plants need water. I think.

I can't wait to go pick snowdrops with my family and then with you guys

About winter...

I still have some beautiful winter photos that I took in my journey to Vatra Dornei from late February but I have this feeling that you don't want winter photos anymore That's why, I made a new poll [link] so that I should know what to do. So, if you haven't voted yet, GO DO IT!

Help me improve!

Tell me what's wrong in my photos, tell me what should I insist upon and what should I quit doing. It's really important for me! I know dA it's becoming for SOME of us some sort of better version of Hi5, but for me this site helped me improve as a photographer and I will keep seeing it as so. I still love dA!

How should I start? Ah well... The idea came from a small talk with Dan about going to eat Chinese food. The two of us. And I thought, hey, why don't I ask people if they like Chinese food and if they do, let's make a Devmeet out of it! It should be different! And so I did. I made a poll [link] and due to the results I decided to dream out loud and make a Chinese devmeet. Around 4 months passed since the last devmeet, so it was the case for a new one. We weren't sure where to meet and eat because some didn't like the idea of the Mall, but in the end the minority accepted the idea of the majority and there we went. Iulius Mall, Cluj-Napoca. Honestly, I thought we wouldn't stay long and that people wouldn't like the atmosphere because... it's a mall and malls are for fancy people, but it wasn't at all so! We spent 3 hours and a half together in the Food Court!

Can you believe it?

Spring is in the air! It's already March and I can already feel its fresh smell! Flowers all around, mărţişoare, joyful smiles and love Sunny days, laying in the sun and dreaming. Oh, lovely days!

Perhaps I'm too sunny... Or not Someone said I like everything, so it's not a wonder I like spring too Who knows...

Remember when I said I'm going to Vatra Dornei? I've been there this past weekend and it was spectacular! One of the best holidays I've ever had It's like winter made it's grand finale I took plenty of photos and I think I'll post some here too

Azi e Dragobeteleeee! Si nu mi-e rusine s-o zic! E romanesc si n-aveti ce sa-mi faceti! I love to love! I love Dragobete! Ok, sa nu exageram

Valentine's Day

As we all know, some of you celebrated Valentine's day on Saturday and I hope you had a nice time, but some again, didn't celebrate anything because it's not Romanian So, we'll celebrate Dragobete Or maybe not... Anyway, my point is, as some of dA people said, that we don't need a special day to love more or to remember we love. We should love the same every day and surprise our loved one anytime not only on Valentine's. It's become too commercial, too "here's a plushy heart from me", "let's get married for one day" Love's not about that. Love doesn't need material stuff, it just exists. And it's pure and lasts forever

In 3 weeks I'm gonna go in this trip with some of my best friends/classmates to Vatra Dornei, one of the loveliest small towns in Romania! Can't wait!

Weee!

I'm so happy I wanna screaaaam!
I think I might suffer from bipolar disorder (I can't be so down and then so up so quickly... how normal is that?)
Today has been the happiest day of this month! I've got a 10/A to an exam, I'm helping my cousin with his site [link] , I'm one of the Little People [link] , so pieces are finally falling together

I learnt that everything I thought when being down was wrong because life might look like a dark lady, but it's not quite so. It's in the way we look at things, in the way we want things to be, because most of the times, in every bad thing there is a hidden good one too. Yay! I'm UP again! All huggie and cuddling!

Thank you, dearest friends, for supporting me while in pain and sorrow, for showing me the bright part of life! I love you, honestly!

In alta ordine de idei (de data asta este una!), am de gand sa mergem sa mancam Chinese food! What if we leave Zorki for once in our life? I bet's gonna be fun! M-am saturat de atatea examene si de viata care merge pe langa in loc sa mearga alaturi de tine. Da, ma plang, de tot ce-i in jurul meu. Se strang deja prea multe si nu mai pot. Cred ca perioada asta a anului e definita de sentimentul asta de neputinta si de dorinta naiva de a muri. Uh... It's gonna pass...

Exams

Asa se exprima copiii de 18 luni cand vor sa spuna ceva. Fac asociatii inedite si funny, folosind nu mai mult de doua cuvinte. Cum sa nu-i iubesti?

Dar sa trecem la lucruri mai serioase Am examen la Psihologia Dezvoltarii miercuri (de-aia vorbesc despre copiii toata ziua) si inca alte 4 examene dupa. So, keep your fingers crossed, exams session, baby!

... to meeeee! Ain't I selfish enough?

It's just that today (12th for American hour, 13th for Romanian hour)... there are 2 years since I swore eternal love to this site! Meaning... 2 years since I signed up

Things have happened during this past year. Good things. Lovely things. I've enjoyed them all.

I've managed to fulfill the dream of the first devmeet by my own (helped by Alex (=ghost3k) with whom I shared this dream) and then the second and the third devmeets came by themselves We're a pretty big family by now And everyone's so nice and lovely and CRAZY and special! I feel so good just remembering these three devmeets...

I've received my first subscription from *dark3y3s and now I can't live without it

I've seen so many beautiful galleries and I met maaany new people. Romanian people, foreign people, it doesn't even matter anymore, you're all talented and I have so many things to learn from all of you!

I've learned what was wrong and what was right about my photos, I've learned what people generally want to see and I shifted from being up to any kind of photo to posting only photos that mean something (even if some look boring to you).

I've made a Free Hugs Day [link] and a "Love is..." experiment [link] (yeah, I have to post the results), I've stopped posting prose on dA because nobody would read it and I made a blog [link] instead for those who really want to do that.

I've shared feelings with you in my journals, boring you to the death I'm sure, but made me feel good And I've featured you and will continue to do that, I promise! I love people who know how to express their talent and I admire them very much! These are not just words that, maybe, "have to be said", it's really what I feel and people who know me, know that I love. A lot.

Christmas Poll

As most of you replied to the poll, you'll stay with your family and friends on Christmas, and this, my friends, means that the Christmas spirit is still going on. I'm happy that few of you said that they don't like Christmas (we don't understand that, but there are reasons we might not know of) and that the presents or even the Christmas tree aren't the most important, because they shouldn't!

Christmas Celebration

Do you know what we celebrate on Christmas? Baby Jesus being born. Nothing about Santa Clause, Christmas trees or snow, but all about an amazing, holy present of God and carols announcing His birth. Maybe you'll skip this part because you say you don't believe in God, because He hasn't done anything for you when you asked, but life isn't that simple. God is a fact, as the wind that blows and we feel but we can't see. So, remember! Celebrate Jesus and think that you're saved through his birth! P.S. As someone used to say: God is Santa!

I'm so stressed with all the projects and the 8 exams of the next month that I can barely organize myself through all this. Yeah, we know, holiday comes, we need to relax But in these two weeks off I need to finish the projects and start reading something... suuuure

Long time no talk in a "normal journal" without events. I've had a full November, a lovely, sweet November (like the movie says ) and, besides the 2 successful devmeets, the best thing is that my subscription continues till spring

I just can't understand how days pass so quickly and that just now leaves were beginning their dance in the wet air and at the moment winter wants its territory already. Well, it's December, why do I wonder? I love snow, by the way! I told it last year, I'm telling it now too I don't feel ready for Christmas. It's all taking me by surprise. Something's wrong. Maybe I am wrong... Are you ready for Christmas? For New Year's Eve, for ... winter?

University's fine, days are passing and the exams will be here sooooooon! (oh, no!) I'm having this (another) presentation with some classmates on Phobias . It's gonna rock the day I didn't even think there are SO MANY phobias in this world!

Today, 1st December , for those of you who don't know, is the national day of Romania Weeeee! We're going to partyyyy!

Being Romanian implies living a tough life in a relative small country that nobody knows where it is, led by people who sleep all the time but living between brilliant minds too. I'm ashamed of all the thieves and gypsies that call themselves Romanian and embarrass us in all Europe, I'm ashamed of manele , but in the same time I'm proud because Romania is a beautiful country with amazing landscapes (if only we'd develop tourism more than we are doing it now), a country has certainly has more to offer than Gheorghe Hagi, Nadia Comaneci and Dracula.
