This is a reminder that The Asylum is on LOCKDOWN!

We are currently CLOSED until January 2010 while we renovate our facility to the new dA Groups format!

While the SWAT team is making its rounds to all the floors to lock patients in their rooms and move those who have strayed into the hallways to a secure, similarly-run concentration camp. Family members have been notified and may come to pick you up and bring you home for the holidays. Those without family members will remain at the camp until The Asylum reopens. Registered visitors may adopt a patient during this time and bring them home to run amok during the holidays. Only 1 patient per household! :shakefist: Unless you get lucky and get siamese twins. :D Patients remaining at the camp need not worry. We've hired some ex employees from Guanatamo Bay AND Alcatraz so you WILL get the torture that you need- MAD TERRORIST STYLE!

We will NOT be accepting new patients or submissions during this time! Please hang onto your committment applications and submissions until we reopen!

We will keep everyone informed on when the patients will be allowed back into their rooms (rejoining the group) and when they may continue their therapy (able to submit art) here are at The Asylum. Thank you for understanding.

THAT'S RIGHT! The Asylum is in LOCK DOWN! EVEN I WAS LOCKED OUT! MAD CLUB CONVERTING! Sorry for the NEWS DELAY. We will be CLOSED as of TODAY and will REOPEN after the NEW YEAR. So we will have SWAT team going Floor by Floor evacuating Patients to a secure location something similar to a concentration camp. Family members will be notified so they may pick you up at that location. Those without family members will remain at the camp UNTIL THE ASYLUM REOPENS. Visitors wanting to adopt a patient plz head over to the camp and talk to the faculty there. ID is required to get in. Then you will be able to take your pick of the litter. 1 per household. Patients remaining at the camp NOT to worry we hired some ex employees from Quantanamo Bay so you WILL get the torture that you need. MAD TERRORIST STYLE.

We will NOT be accepting any NOTES or new Patients During that time period. So anything having to do submissions or joining the club will be deleted.

REASON for all this is because DAA has a system that can not be used with the way the Group is setup. SOO some adjusting will have to be done. FAQ's will change as well. We just want to make sure that things will run smoothly for you and for the staff of DAA. So during the LOCKDOWN we are going to lock ourselves in doc's office and come up with a NEW system and also brain storm on some new ideas for the club to make things fun for Patients and Visitors. Also during the time period that the asylum is closed we will be also doing some upgrades. Patients will be getting NEW ROOMS! We will get State of the ART operating tables and surgical tools... don't worry we are still going to keep the old and rusty ones ;) We have new experiential drugs that the government cut a sweet deal for us. Its going to be great :D

Thanks to all of our committed patients and supporters, our community keeps growing! We've grown to be one of the most successful Dark and Macabre Art Communities at deviantART. We do not only think of the Asylum as a gallery to expose the art of talented deviants of this genre, but as a virtual place where we can meet up, role-play, have fun, learn from and get to know other artists with our same interests and motivations.

Our #Dark-Arts-Asylum shelters and medicates patients from over 40 different countries and promotes artistic works based on dark, moody and macabre themes to intensely gore-ish bloody ones.

As much as our community develops, our expectations reach higher too. That is why, to help improve our interaction with patients, watchers and possible new members, we are posting a series of guidelines in the form of FAQ's. We ask everyone to read them carefully....or else.... :fork:




FAQ #1 - What is The Dark Arts Asylum? aka... DAA

FAQ #2 - Who can join DAA?

Any deviant whose quality gallery is mainly focused in dark/macabre/horror/dark and conceptual surrealism/fetish pieces crafted through the use of any visual media or style, be it digital, traditional, (inc. photography), etc.

FAQ #3 - How do I apply to join, be committed?

Send us a Note to the Asylum, with the Subject Join , and a brief explanation on why you think you need to commit with our institution.

FAQ #4 - How do I know if I was admitted?

Upon review of your gallery, our team of “qualified” doctors will assess your condition and will note you back letting you know if we consider you to be in need of treatment. If you are admitted, you will be notified with further instructions. See also FAQ #14

FAQ #5 - If I'm not admitted, does this mean I will never be able to join your community?

No. As explained before, a member of our staff will visit your gallery to review the focus of it and the quality of your crafting. Unless your focus is completely different from ours, we will suggest you continue to develop your techniques and apply once again. Read FAQ #13 too, for other ways to participate.

FAQ #6 - What type of artwork do you consider unacceptable?

We are not interested in artists that throw a filter on an image with no thought behind it. A registered visitor is someone that supports the Asylum but isn't a resident, perhaps because they love dark art but their own work is not dark or they are still developing their gallery strengths and have not yet been committed to the asylum.

Basically, anyone that enjoys our community but isn't a patient here can be a registered visitor. Our visitors enjoy special privileges here at our warped little home. For more information on becoming a Visitor and what that entails please see The DAA F.A.Q.S #13.
