Well, I got a new job. As I'm earning barely anything more then I was getting on the dole, for heavy work - retail during the Xmas rush is busy to the point of constant chaos - people may think "what's the point". The point is it's a job.

It gets me out of the house, and has me doing something other than stare at the same 4 walls, day in, day out. And as I'm working for the shop where I get most of my art supplies, a 25% discount isn't so bad either.

However, I am having to get back into the swing of working - which means I'm tired a lot presently, and my art has ground to a standstill. That will solve itself soon - I'm getting used to things - but that's why there's been no art loaded, and I haven't really been active at all for the past while.

It's starting to disappear as I'm starting to suffer cabin-fever. You may think that would be annoying, but strangely, it's a good thing. I'm starting to be able to care about my art again and thus, am able to draw to combat my boredom.

You know how things are - you hear of something you'd really like to do, but you can't get the time off work, or you haven't the money... Something gets in the way; and it just doesn't happen.

That's how things with me and The Gathering went - I originally heard about it almost 8 years ago. I finally got to go for the first time this year...

And it was bloody FANTASTIC!!!

My first experience of The Gathering started with having to be at Dublin Port at around 6:30 for the 8:00 sailing of the Ulysses to Holyhead - whoever invented the concept of Railing & Sailing is a genius... (although I still want to persuade my father to let me take the Zafira when I have my licence - a BIG boot is a necessity) But yeah - so started 6 days of hilarity and the best week I've had in a very long time.

When we arrived in Derby train station, we were given a lift in a Land Rover to Locko Park (bar the fact they swallow petrol, I'd consider saving up for one of them for the future events we WILL be going to). After paying for our tickets and getting the one weapon we had - a tiny little belt dagger - checked, we were given a lift up to our camp-site. That's how I found out that Land Rovers can make sense!

So began the adventure of pitching a tent - something Robb'd never even seen done, let alone tried to himself... When I got to where we'd decided to pitch it, I found him being given lessons - thank you so much, Dorian - and our tent was erected in the end with about 8 people working on it...our little 4-man dome (misnomer of a name - you can not fit 4 men in that thing unless they're thinner than I am, and have NO gear with them at all). The only way that thing could have gone up faster is if you set it on the ground and pushed a button or something.

Once that was done, luggage was shoved in randomly, and we set off to explore...we didn't get very far as the Command tent was maybe 10 yards from our tent

. And then I headed off on an Asda run with Pat, Dorian, Ciara & Stephen. Eventually however, we headed down to the trade area. And so began our "Ooh - shiny!". We're such magpies (well duh really. We're gamers). By the end of that wander, we had my cloak (go the 3 Aoifes with the 3 brown cloaks), Robb's robes (and they are nice - and in Armengar's colours, which we didn't even know at the time), a leather belt for each of us, a belt pouch each (pockets are needed), my book (which I haven't decided on it's purpose yet) and Robb collapsible glass (that thing's snazzy - I'm getting one for myself next time) After that, we're were introduced to the deliciousness that is Spit Roast. And then we went and got my sword.

And then back up to camp, shopping dumped in the tent, and then the Command tent for laughter, chatter and mead. It was then Pat helped me hammer out Liaden's framework so I wasn't raking my brains for how an orphaned elf ended up in Armengar. So yeah - she's an orphan who left her home looking for something different, joined the Tribe, and came to Armengar with them (and I found out yesterday that, at 56, she's considered a child, and most elves would want to know what the hell she's doing abroad in the world alone at her age).

The following morning, kit was donned for the first time. Maya liked my ruffled shirt (so did Aoife, but Maya's only 2). At my next event, Liaden's gonna have facial decoration in the Armengar colours, so I'll be wearing contacts, but I was lazy regarding them this time around. Robb went off on an Asda run while I inflated our mattresses, and got a crash course in blocking, and a lot of advice on different things. 'Course, we went back down to the trading area for the other things we needed when Robb got back. Which was all Robb's belt pouches for all his potions and poisons - he's an alchemist - his staff, trousers, my compass, his pocket watch, and my UBER pretty cloak - which I will most likely never use for LARPing, as it's red & black velvet, and brushes the ground. As it is in Armengar's colours, I might use it for formal events. Emphasis on the 'might'. *growls* Let's get the bad stuff out of the way first. My husband may (it's not very likely, but still a possibility) lose his job - I look like having a peach of a b-day.

Therefore, I am literally begging - if anyone has any spare cash, please, please, please commission me. Even the smallest amount of extra money I can put into saving until we know what's happening, the better.

Now, good stuff.

I have the snazziest victoriana/steampunk outfit - I'm just waiting for the final piece to arrive, before photos will be taken.

Second, I finally got around to getting the piercing on the shell of my ear that needed to be re-done done. Originally, when I got it done, my hair some how got itself badly caught on the ring, so I had to take t out to get the curl off it. The stud I but in to keep it open had a way thinner bar then most things, so the hole closed up slightly. I've a barbell through it now, so my hair can't get caught as easily, and if it does, I can untangle it easier. I also got the other piercing I wanted done. That was a third hole in the other ear. So I've now one lobe piercing and one in the shell of my right ear, and three in a row going from the lobe up on my left ear. The newest is literally just into the cartilage.

Other good stuff - both my sisters are home from their holidays, so the girls' night in of movies and hilarity we're planning will be soon...and I can introduce my sisters to both REPO (OK, that's a recent enough movie that didn't get cinema release in Ireland) and Labyrinth.

My hayfever's mostly gone - woot! I'm still coughing now and then, but that's all, and a post-nasal drip cough always takes a while to clear.

Don't expect much activity from me for another fortnight or so.

I've come back from the Brigin Area Camp with a severe attack of allergic rhinitis, and as my last bad attack was more then years ago, I'm out of the antihistamines. Therefore I have to go to the doctor to have my prescription renewed. Once I have them, they will take a while to get me back to feeling better.

Until I'm able to breath through my nose again, I doubt I'll be around much - I really don't feel well.

Strange as that sounds, when I've wanted to go to A-kon since I was about 15 Â and still do Â I am somewhat grateful redundancy knocked my plans on the head this year. I spent most of Friday and Saturday in Galway.

OK, that doesn't sound anything special. But I was there with my dad, for something we were both excited for Â the in-port races of the 7 boats in the Volvo Ocean Race. Anyone who's not interested in boats and sailing, feel free to stop reading.

Anyone who cares, I wish you could have been there. The atmosphere was great Â Galway was hopping. It's said the Irish drink too much Â I'll admit some of us do, but then, some of most nations drink too much Â the word alcaholic doesn't come from the Irish language, and while the gathering and parties were in the pubs, it wasn't for the drink. It's simply due to the fact that Irish pubs are mostly comfortable places, and in Galway, they're all fairly central.

The buzz, or craic, to use the Irish word for it was running like a current through the whole city. Even shops that had nothng to do with the water or ships had posters and signs up about the race. While the Galway races are a big thing, they happen every year. But this is the first time the Volvo Ocean Race has been to Ireland. The Irish boat in this year's race Â Green Dragon Â is actually a joint effort between Ireland and China. She was designed by an Irishman, built in China, then brought to Galway and did her seaworthiness test from there. And then left for Alicante and the starting line. Galway is her home port, so it was nice for her to be in home waters again, even if the wind decided to not let her win the in-port races. That wasn't her or the team's fault though. Neither ship nor crew control the wind.

I wish we cold have stayed 'til today though Â I'd do anything to be able to take part in one of the pro-am races Â that's were the crew go out with ametures on board and race, to let us know what it's like. As I haven't sailed since I was 13, I miss it, and I'd kill to be able to crew one of those boats. It's never gonna happen though Â what those boats and crew go though put those who do endurance sailing to shame. I think the only way you can descibe the crews fairly is as adrenalin junkies. For example, on the leg from India to China, two of the boats were broken Â Ericsson 3 had her hull badly broken Â to the point where she had to drop out of the leg and be rescued and be put back together. And those boats are tough. I know Green Dragon's boom was broken at one point...seriously, I doubt a woman would be allowed crew Â genectically, the female body is built less physically hardwearing than a male's. We know all about patience and so on, but we don't have the capaticty to build up in the way those guys have to. There are girls in the shore crews, but the females who put to sea are the boats themselves.

The seven of them Â Green Dragon, Delta Lloyd, Puma, Ericsson 3, Ericsson 4, Telefonica Blue and Telefonica Black Â beautiful vessels, and magnifigantly built. I wish them all luck in the next leg when they put to sea next weekend, and hope that I'll be able to see another Volvo Ocean Race call in Irish waters again sometime.

Translation: I'm sorry my replies to comments etc have been slow and my activity is practically nil for the last while, but I've had a very bad month.

As all those who bother to read my journals already know, I was made redundant on March 9^th.

However, for the past two years at least, the universe seems to take some perverse glee in making my life difficult, and true to form quickly proceeded to take a sledgehammer to my 'fuck it' attitude, and destroyed my nonchalance.

The following day, Robb, who had already been in pain regarding an abscess he had on his lower back for the past two years, finally got the chance to go to the doctor regarding the latest flare up.

The new doctor where we go is really nice and actually has a clue, so referred him immediately to a specialist. Now, that's all well and good, but we had to wait until the next Monday, as that was the first spot the specialist had free.

So I had a husband who was disorientated, dizzy, running a ridiculously high temp, had no appetite, was in so much pain that he was hallucinating - you get the picture. Obviously, I was almost frantically worried.

However, when we got to the specialist on the 16^th, the man took one look at the abscess and hospitalised Robb. He was operated on the night of the 17^th. My Paddy's Day was NOT good this year. I have to thank my sister for staying over that night and managing to keep my thoughts occupied enough that I didn't worry myself into an illness - I was numb to everything before she arrived, because all my thoughts were on Robb.

However. The abscess has been excised, so it can't come back, but it left Robb with a 6 inch by 4 inch by 2 inch hole in his lower back. Originally when the dressing was off, his tail-bone was partially visible.

He presently has a special type of dressing on it, called a VAC. Basically, it's a tube attached to a sponge fitted into the hole on one end and on the other, feeding into a reservoir attached to a vacuum pump. The suction of the vacuum promotes growth, and he heals fast anyway. As of this afternoon, when the district nurse changed the dressing, the hole has healed up to about 3 inches by 2 inches by 1 and a half inches.

But now I come to the biggest problem facing us. As I'm no longer employed (and in Ireland's present economic climate, finding a new job is flatly impossible), we only have Robb's salary to survive on - buy food, pay bills, handle mortgage repayments, everything. Before the op, we could do it comfortably enough that we could afford to start a family. Now however... The district nurse says that if he has the VAC for the next 8 weeks or so, he should need no further dressings afterward, but it's anything but cheap, and thanks to the screwy way the health service is set up in this country, we have to pay for the lot, the dressings, the rental of the VAC unit, everything. The dressing needs to be changed every Monday, Wednesday and Friday as long as he has it.

Rental of the VAC unit itself is Â80 a day, and the dressings themselves cost about Â800 a week on top of that.

So with me having to take care of a convalescing husband, unable to sleep at night thanks to worrying bout him and the noise the vacuum pump makes every few seconds, having a rather sore shoulder since making dinner yesterday evening - I think I slightly twisted my shoulder - is anyone surprised that the journal title describes my state of being at present.

But please - if anyone has some spare cash, please, please, PLEASE commission me! Every spare cent will help us at present!

I apologise in advance for any swearing in this journal - but I'm not going to censor it, as I am writing exactly how I feel.

Well, I'm now redundant. Fan-fucking-tastic! Just when I thought things were looking up, just when I thought 2009 was going to be a good year, it all comes tumbling down.

So much for me being able to go to A-kon - I've wanted to go for about 10 years now, but no. I've had to cross that off my list of "things I can finally do".

While I am pretty pissed off with what's happened, I'm not either as angry or as down in the dumps as I thought I would be. I've a pretty "fuck it" attitude toward the situation. Shit happens, I can't do anything about it, move on.

And you never know. Maybe this is some sort of sign that it's time I make a change in my life. Maybe now is the time to stop being a working girl, and start being a homemaker. Maybe now is the right time to start trying for a family. Maybe now is when I can finally work at achieving my greatest dream - one I've had since I was eight years old.

Despite the "what happened, happened" tone I'm exuding, I am making a plea. Please - if anyone has any spare cash - please, please, please commission me.

It may not send me to A-kon, but it'll be a lot of help to keep me busy and to enable me to bring in at least some money.

I finally have a chance to go clubbing again, but - and it's annoying having to say that - I have a cold, which has me feeling ick a lot of the time.

The trailer is very well done...

My b-day was fun, and I had a blast at my party - which has had the wonderful effect of taking a sledgehammer to the blocks surrounding my inspiration. Literally - the amount of worlds I've created over time is unreal. The earliest I remember clearly is one I created when I was 5. A number of them have fallen by the wayside - as my ideas developed and my scope broadened, some where too constraining. However, many aspects of the worlds I no longer carry forward have been bred into my 3 main ones now, so I suppose they haven't really gone, just evolved.

My worlds are fantasy - while I like sci-fi, it does have limits - the constraints of science - fantasy doesn't. Of the three, Velt is largest, and the only one so far I have done a full map for. There's all definitely high fantasy, and not modern. There's also a definite flavour of the paranormal/occult in my most recently realised one - the story of which to date has only a working title.

However, I took a different approach to the characters for this newest story. I had a set of question that I asked certain people, and their answers are what I Used as the basic concepts from which to build. This journal is to thank them all:

Well, I did it! I got the art-trades loaded when I said I would. OK, it doesn't sound much, but still... As I said, most of the time, things seem to conspire to prevent me doing so.

I have finally reached a decision. I've made a new gallery, and over the next while, will move all my fanart without comments into it. From now on, all my fanart will be there. That includes any of my fanfics that I decide to post here in addition to my FanFiction.net account.

If there's a piece I'm particularly proud of, I'll link to it, but that's it. However - there are two exceptions.

Art-trades: if I am asked, on this account for an art-trade and the request is either an existing character, or someone's OC for a particular fandom, they will be posted here. Therefore, my art-trade pictures to date will not be moved.

Pictures with comments: If someone can tell me how to move them without losing my comments, I'll do that, but otherwise, they're staying put. I appreciate all those comments, and don't want to lose them.

The one thing I want to point out is that the closing date is now August 31. I do want to be able to provide prizes somewhat promptly.

Prompt - I hate that word. Mainly because whenever I want to get something done promptly, everything jumps on me at once and time to do anything vanishes.

I was planning on getting my half of two art-trades with *elila and ~Kezzo finished this past Saturday so I could load them on Sunday, when I got home from my friend's place. That didn't happen for the simple reason that my parents-in-law took myself and Robb out to lunch in the restaurant where we had a meal the day we got married. Now I'm not complaining - I'm deeply grateful to them for taking us out - but it does mean that those art-trades are still in the 'rough sketch' stage.

On a slightly more cheerful note (read: freaking excellent) I finally got to go out on Saturday night again. It's been more than a year since I was able to. I love having a new job. OK - I will admit it was a rather weird way to get back to going out and having a good time, but I did get the excuse to debut a dress I've had for more than a year, and look conservatively dressed.

Suzy, Jordanna and I spent Saturday evening watching the random goings on at a Fetish night. It was...interesting...

I didn't get involved in any of the activities - Robb wasn't there, as he had work the following morning, and he's the only person who I will EVER let near me in more than friendship. Weird way of putting it, but me and my friends are a pretty tactile group, so 'hellos' and 'goodbyes' among us are always accompanied by hugs. I spent most of the evening chatting to a guy I met back at the beginning of the year at an anime convention.

Still, I'm glad I went - I've been dying to wear that dress in public. And if anyone's curious as to what it looks like, I do plan on drawing a character in it, once I've got these art-trades finished and loaded.

I still have to load the one I did with ~MessyAsh, so I'll prob'ly load all 3 when I have the other two done. So expect them by next Sunday at the latest. As far as I know, nothing else is happening this week, so bar the gamin session I have on Thursday evening, I will have time when I get home after work.

Well, it has finally come to pass... I find myself in astate I never thought I'd sucumb to - fangirl-ish anticipation

It's all dA's fault!

As anyone who took two seconds to check my favourites would know, I really like a lot of game fanart - predominantly that from KH2. Which I've never played. Yet I love the fanart - some of the fanstrips I've seen are hilarious. And I'll own up - I would love to have a trenchcoat made in the style of the Organization XIII uniform.

Much an all as I've been tempted (and belive me, I've been very tempted) I've refrained from doing any fanart. Because fanart of fanart just gets confusing eventually. Fanart of a fan's OC is different -

can testify that I do a lot of pics of her G-Wing OC and mine.

But as to the state of anticipation? This weekend, it happened - I finally got my hands on both Kingdom Hearts 1 and Kingdom Hearts 2. And, as tomorrow is my last day in PayPal, and I won't be starting my new job until the 4th of June at the earliest, I will have to time to start on them.

The bonus? As I don't live in my parents hose anymore, I don't have to worry about my siblings erasing all my saves by accident - I lost count of the amount of time I had to restart Final Fantasy X.

Well, the 12th to the 23rd was the best 12 days Ive had in the last year, but all good thing come to an end Whoever wrote that clause into the way the universe works needs their head examined!

Yep, back to the grindstone (or the seventh circle of hell, depends which way you look at it). As Im sure anyone who bothers to reads this has guessed, I still dont have a new job, and that lovely calm that I was enjoying for the 12 days while

was over is clinging desperately to its perch, trying not to be ripped away by the ravening beast that is my job.

I already had a tension headache before I actually started work.

At least I have something to look forward too. This weekend, for once, Robb and I share the same days off

. Besides, come August, I wont be worrying about Ash anymore. Its a lot easier to be there in an instant for someone who needs your help when they live in the same country as you!

And having a printer at home finally means I can proof-read physical things when theyre done, and not have to wait to print em off on a Sunday.

Now I just need to get used to scanning with Photoshop, and I can wake my gallery up with fresh pictures. Considering the sheer size of the stack I have all of Velt, Im considering creating a second gallery for fan art, and just having Velt and characters from my own stories here. Something to think about.

She isnt the only artist Ive seen whos doing it, and it is a good idea to try and improve. Plus, no time limitI like that part a LOT!!! I'll start a list of "Who's doing this" once I've started myself, maybe.

What I think Ill do is set my self the rule that it all has to be Velt artwork I really need to get a handle on illustrating the entirety of Velt, and not just the same characters. Whats the point in creating a fantasy world, if I cant draw it, ne?

No, seriously, I love animals, and they seem to like me. We arent allowed most type of pets where we live, so were looking into getting a snake or a lizard.

The tools freeze, the customers won't listen to plain english, they expect us to re-write the entire complaints policy just for them... Did I miss a meeting when the entire world decided that only impatient, un-cooperative...I can't even think of a word that can be used in polite conversation to descibe them. The general populace isn't like that, so why is the tiny minority who are the ones we get on the 'phones?

I soooooo desperatly hope that I get a new job soon. If I don't, I'm going to be so stressed by the end of the month that I'll look like death warmed up on my wedding day, and won't have the energy to enjoy myself. Which will not have me in a good mood for coming back to work after the honeymoon.

Now I did have an interview a little before Xmas - a sceening one. I have to call them back to see if I have a second interview, but can't until after the New Year. Now while it's not that far away, it's just that 6 more days for me to be stressed with no hope of respite.

Well, once more into the fray, dear friends... Hopefully it'll be quite enoungh fo me to work on one of my fics.

I'll try and be in a more cheerful frame of mind the next time I type.

I was doing more of them last night, thanks to the time it takes me to get to and from work; my days off (Fri & Sat) are the only time I'm free to draw. And this Friday I had to spend the day in my parent's house helping my sister, so wasn't able to draw. However...

Y'know, with the amount of CCS I have, you'd think I'd find Kero's true form easier to draw

Not so - I destroyed the surface of the paper last night. Coloured pencil is a lot harder to erase then plain old graphite. Heh - what I found weirdest is the pic of Link. The best reference I found? SoulCaliber II wallpapers!

Go figure.

I swear though - it only the middle of November. If I hear one more Christmas song on repeat, I'm going to hurt something! It's depressing - is the world so commercialised that Hallmark holidays are all that matter. Christmas is meant to be about the family, not how far into debt can you send yourself!

Typing a journal in work is a lot harder then it used to be. For starters, I have to minimise the dA window when I get a call, as each call requires several windows opened, and I need to concentrate. However, that interrupts my train of thought *sigh* What can you do but deal?

On a side-note, I'm a lot less stressed about the wedding then I was. Getting most of what was needed done and ready will have that effect on a girl

Sitting in work, looking up at stars... Well, O.K, star-shaped fairy lights, but still. Got the idea from a friend of mine. She has fairy lights in leaves and roses up around her appartment and it looks very cool; so when we were told "Decorate your desks however you want" and I saw these lights in town, I bought them. It doesn't look that OTT, actually, which I though it would.

I've also got two resin statues of fairies, a teddy bear sitting on top of my phone, and several pictures. Some are my own - pics that I've put a lot of work into and consequently am very fond of, and a few pics I've had floating around for a long time and like (couple of pixel dolls too

). Any other suggestion as to what would look good?
The most important addition to the desk is my photo of Robb. I'll put a new one up when I have one, as the photo's a Polariod, so has faded

It'll do for now. And, of course, I got myself a big mug - while there are cups provided, they don't hold very much, and I like my coffee in the morning - and during the day

Well, I've had a very odd week. Work was bananas, I'm still trying to reconcil my body-clock to a decent sleep-pattern, stuff like that.
It was a very good week in that

was visting. The annoying thing about that? He was was only here for the week and I had work!

Y'know - that's something funny about myself. I missed him a hell of a lot - he's the elder brother I never had. But until I saw him again last Saturday, I wasn't actually aware of just how much I had missed him. However, he has promised that he - and his family - will be here for the wedding... I can't believe that's only a little over 3 months away! *panics* Where's the time going? We've still things to sort out!

Anyway - I have decided that I may as well offer commisions. Considering that I've people who don't have dA accounts requesting specific pieces, it's only fair that people on here can ask too.

I won't be charging much. If people want me to send the actual piece, that will figure in pricing, but postage isn't that bad, so the price won't go up that much

Seriously - travel can really take it out of a girl. Four buses a day - it's worth it though. I really love my new job. The surprise was being asked to do a team poster. I accepted...but I never thought my art would be something I'd be asked to bring into play when working in a call-centre. It's that sorta thing that makes it possible to say I've had a good day even if every last customer seems to be calling solely to yell at me. I swear - "It's not you, but..." Well, if it's not me, go yell at someone else - or yourself for not paying attention to what you were doing!

OK - mini-rant over. On top of the poster though, I've a lot of art to get coloured and posted. However, I have a request to make.

Can someone please give me some tips on how to draw a wintery background to a pic? I haven't a clue, but one of my pics needs one.

I apologise to all and sundry if you're wondering where I've been. I can sum it up in one word - training! Six weeks of it, no less, but I'm now ofically trained and on the floor. My team is nice, and my desk is in a good spot.

In other news, I'm a super-happy camper, as CCS series and 2d movie arraived, and so did Gundam Wing Complete Song Collection. It's not the OST - I still have to but that, but it's most of the songs that feature in the show; inluding the full lenght White Reflection and Last Impression.

Of course, CCS arraiving is one reason I haven't even inked half the picture I have done. I feel bad about that, 'specially as one of them is my half of an art trade with

and another is my half of an art-trade with

, but I just can't stop watching them. Now that I have music, and Fridays off, I should get on better. Being an Otaku has its disadvantages.

It has it's bonuses too. My friend Suzy got to go to Tomo Dachi - Ireland's only Anime con...and I couldn't go cause of work. She said the con wasn't that good, but she did get the fun of cosplaying as Yuna, and standing up and telling some guy that if he didn't stop bidding against her, she would summon an Aeon to shut him up. She was bidding on a Sailor Moon wallscroll as a present for me. Thanks to her doing that - threatening the guy - when he won a Sailor Moon window panel in a raffle, he gave it to her. So I got two pressies! I told Suzy she could be scary when she chose.

Well, I should be able to get around to inking - and maybe even starting to colour - this weekend.
