        <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ Wow!<br /><br />I'm 3 weeks away from launching A1, my first title through my deal with Titan Comics/Books.  It's a journey that started in 1986 when Garry Leach and myself first started kicking around the idea of doing our own comic.  We'd be able to do what we wanted, when we wanted and how we wanted.  Bonus was owning it.  Back then the thrill was not about owning the rights so you could make your own film deal, just doing something where you called the shots yourself was good enough and worth the effort of doing it yourself.<br /><br />Only there was a hiccup.  We shared our dream with others.  Our little 32 page baby grew and grew.  Not with our material bu ]]></media:text>

        <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ Well I was hoping to post some cool new artwork this week along with a couple of journals, but my dear little sweetheart Hurricane Sandy had other ideas.<br /><br />As I sit here in my local library using their power and internet, two things my house doesn't have, I'm scrabbling to stay on deadline with 3 different and unrelated to each other projects.  I'll be posting art for all 3 here soon.<br /><br />In the meantime, anyone with any spare cash, there are victims around the coast that need help.  The Red Cross actually seem to not be needing much so take a look where else you can donate or just buy creators books who have been affected by the damage.<br /><br />For ins ]]></media:text>

        <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ Okay, today I'm going to talk formats.<br /><br />By formats I'm going to focus on the typical American comic formats used by DC, Marvel IDW, Dark Horse etc...<br /><br />In April 1938, Action Comics number 1 was published.  It was 10¢ and had 68 color pages and had 12 twelves stories (one of those only being 1 page).  Everyone knows that this comic gave birth to Superman, but what I want to talk about is format.<br /><br />68 pages monthly. 10¢. So let's ignore the cost (even though allowing for inflation a 68 paged comic should only be $1.61 today) and look at content.  68 pages.  That would have been a good read and with several stories it would have felt lik ]]></media:text>

        <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ Okay, in case my previous column stirred things up a little by showing that deciding who gets ownership for creating a property isn't easy, even amongst those are doing the actual creating.<br /><br />In my first journal I talked about a recent story that I fictionalized where two creators disagreed on who created a project. This journal isn't so much about who gets copyright as it is about getting credit for what you do. If you fully created something you should get credit, right?<br /><br />Can of frickin' worms, mate.         <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ CREATED BY&#133;?<br /><br />Two words that define so much in a persons head, not so much about who did/does what but, about who created the whole character, the concept, the supporting cast&#133;<br /><br />Picture this (in an awesome Rod Sterling voice); a talented artist sits alone in his studio wanting to be appreciated for his ideas as well as his artistic talents. On his drawing board sits a rendering of a superhero. This character is dark and brooding, like any good piece of art it speaks volumes.
