I thought I'd have a much larger outcome because last year was so much of a success.
I have come to a decision that if I can get at least 10 more entries from different contestants I will extend the deadline, but if I do not reach past the 10 mark, I will sadly have to cancel my contest

and here I had a ton of tangible goodies, not just features to be had by such lovely people...
I have decided to take out the no literature rule, and start accepting those entries-- hopefully it'll maybe entice more people, hehe

Another potential Contest!

Well it's almost that time of year, my most favorite time of year! Halloween and Dia De Los Muertos.
So last year I did Dia de los muertos, this year it'll be about Halloween! Woo Hoo yeah!
And yes, some of my jewelry will be up for grabs... but I just may also decide to include something from a different category in my gallery

My idea is to make treat bags this time as a prize, where the level of winning dictates how much will be inside the bag

so that each one is a surprise

It's so old though that I might as well buy a new one rather than try to fix it. So for now I am on a lender comp-- I don't know for how long though, I hardly get any time at all on this thing.

Anyway. I am still setting up my room, as I was in the process of moving it about-- and considering my room was also my little studio work area... I had A LOT to move and organize. Still going through all my papers and trinkets but for the most part it is complete, there just isn't any work space available yet. But as soon as that is done I will start posting up some new deviations.

News about my Shop

So Considering the above mentioned, I need some extra cash flow in order to truly be able to fund my college venture, even if it'll just cover a few expenses (hey, every little bit counts!) And students such as my future self know very well that every little bit does indeed help a ton. Now as said before I will be offering more than just jewelry-- I will be offering a lot of my other kinds of crafts.

I also plan that, if it can be helped, all commissions that are requested on DA will be shown as a reserved listing on my etsy-- just to bring up my rating one way, y'know?
Because, as it stood before I had no etsy sales because I didn't go into etsy with followers so I ended up losing money rather than making it-- on top of that I plan to seriously advertise as much as I can for my etsy... I really want to make this work!

but for now the shop will remain closed until further notice.

By the way, you should give her a visit and see she has quite the contest going which has inspired me to enter into it with all my might-- considering she has placed one of Yann Tiersen's pieces (my very most admired and respected composer who has influenced my newest addition to my favorite composed music-- Dave Thomas) as a source of inspiration for entries.

Anyway. I have decided that I really want to go to college and get a degree in fashion design-- but for that I need money, so... I guess my etsy shop will be coming back up after all!
But this time I will put up more than just jewelry.
I need to cover my living expenses such as the vitals of food, seeing as this college is in another city-- I need to consider housing and such.

Well my favorite person in the whole wide world decided he'd buy me a kit to make wire jewelry-- so I have been quite busy, but until I get home, I don't think you'll be seeing it quite yet... unless his sister lets me borrow her awesome camera... which I doubt

Also I have begun my biggest project to date-- it'll be great! And when it is finished, it'll probably the best of my work for a long time to come... oh yeah, it's that big. I have been doing it for the sole purpose that I really do expect to go to college-- so I figured I'd really need this, so why not make it beautiful?

I'll keep it a surprise until it's completely finished. My wonderful man has been funding this project, and I for what little I brought for my visit here

This sucks royally.

On a lighter note, on the 24th of June was my birthday and I'm officially 21!

I didn't have a party or anything like that, but my oh so wonderfully sweet man-toy gave me a promise ring!

... which is like an engagement ring, except not-as-severe-and-pressing-to-get-onto-a-wedding-ring sort of deal... *cough*
seeing as we don't exactly live together or "near" each other yet (I am here in Arizona visiting him for the summer, hence the above mentioned)

anyway!
Juicy details about the ring: it's a sterling silver band, with a triple goddess/moon design with an oh so lovely rainbow moonstone in the center. And as some of you might know, moonstone is one of the birthstones of June so it was not only fitting for the fact that it is my birthstone-- moonstone also carries a lot of personal and spiritual meaning to it.

Important News!

I officially graduated my highschool upgrading so I officially have a diploma now!
I know it's not a big deal to a lot of people, but to me it's the next biggest thing to my man devoting himself to me.

It was because I was in school that a lot of the time I could not devote to too many trades and such, and it was because of my serious lack of very good organizational skills that I wasn't able to balance all the aspects in my life very well, and my time spent on DA and my message boards and all my hobbies fell through the cracks.
But since I am done and my life seems to be stabilizing, all of my beloved sites are reconciling with my creative flow. You can expect to see more of me again. I might do a thorough cleansing of my DA gallery-- out with the old in with the new... that whole business... haven't decided though as I still like looking back at my old stuff for reference.

News about my Shop

As most of you know, my shop has been in vacation mode literally like forever.
I have not yet decided if selling on etsy is the best thing for me, and I heard it is absolutely difficult to sell anything on that site-- like you have to already have a circle of loyal customers which I do not... yet.
It is because of this that I cannot decide whether or not the best course of action is to close it for good, or keep trying to sell on that site. For now I will not post my shop site-- if you want to buy something it'll just have to be via DA and the PM system, I do still have paypal though if you prefer it as a method of payment-- but money orders are welcome too.

My free time is totally devoted to spending time with my hubby playing WoW (world of warcraft for those of you who don't know)
Not that I have a ton of time to begin with...

I recently came back from a Christmas holiday in Arizona, which I had no Internet connection I could rely enough to pop on-- I think perhaps I did pop up at one point, but just to lurk around

I managed to keep my contest entering promises, but very poorly... I missed some deadlines, but the holders were very understanding. I am truly sorry for the lack of communication on my part.

Hopefully now that I have a long weekend I might be able to hold onto those art trade promises I did. Once again sorry on my part

Those of you whom I promised an art trade, if you would be so kind to remind me who you are through a note and what I promised you I will get to it asap!

Anyway. As far as getting any personal art work done... I'm not sure of that yet-- hopefully I can keep people posted more frequently in this dreadfully full semester.

About Day of the Dead

Day of the dead is not supposed to be horrific and scary. Think of it like a spring-time halloween-- full of colorful cheerful festivities. Of course the skulls are the staple of dia de los muertos, but they are adorned with colorful flowers and motifs. These skulls are called sugar skulls. I drew one here

The bracelet I made for 2nd place prize, inspired by the holiday, is also another example of the holidays "cheeryness in death". You're not resrticted to skulls though, just play with the idea. Google Dia de los muertos to get more ideas and inspiration. Remember! It is a day to respect and honor the dead. Not to fear them

I am seeing a lot of horror and macabre trying to be entered, and some that don't quite have the theme right. So I took it upon myself to pick some works from artists around DA who have created Dia de los Muertos art here in this article--->[link] please read it through and grab some inspiration for your entries!

Rules:
#1All deviations must be Day of the Dead related. Anything I feel is not appropriate to the theme will not be accepted. I'm sorry I sound so harsh, but I would love to see a genuine effort being made. I'm really quite lenient, though, with entries

#2 You are allowed to enter as many deviations as you'd like, but you can only place once!-- meaning you can only win once. Deviations can also be some that you have previously done, but must follow rule #1

#3 Good quality works please-- do your best! I will not accept unfinished works or blurry photos. Anything that I feel you haven't done your best with will not be accepted

#4 it is important that you state in the description of the deviation that it is for this contest, I have made a grand effort for these prizes so I will not accept the work if otherwise not placed. PLEASE BE COURTEOUS AND DO NOT FORGET.

I'm conjuring some prospects for a contest. The prizes will be some special pieces of jewelry that I have designed specifically if this were to happen
But I need more responses in order to be sure I'll have a good outcome, otherwise I'll need to bag the idea away till I can get more people interested. So please respond to this journal, I need more support!

Here is what I'm thinking as far as themes go:

- Day of the Dead: Things themed strictly of the Mexican holiday... an example that exemplifies the holiday are sugar skulls. What are sugar skulls you ask? I drew one here-->

- Pandamonium: Pandas and nothing but!

- and Witches Brew: Basically anything goes as long as it has "spooky" elements

I totally would love to do them all, but I would just be too tempted to give out prizes for each category

Been thinking a month after I begin the contest would be good enough for the deadline.
I'm definitely more inclined to do the Day of the Dead theme... but I'm pretty sure people would be more inclined to participate if I just did the Witches Brew theme... I don't know. Let me know what your vote is and if you might want to enter by leaving a comment on this journal

It contained the entire Vampire Chronicles collection from Anne Rice, and a mixed CD he made of the best classic love songs you'll ever hear.
I was so over joyed.. he even wrote some haiku's and a love letter inside the cover.

It came a such a time too! My older brother had moved out recently and passed me down a bookshelf/desk combo (said he didn't have room for it), so I have a lot of free space for books now.

I normally don't buy story books, just reference books-- I usually borrow them from the library-- but this was such a sweet surprise... I will cherish it.

This was for valentines day (since we're currently on a long distance thing our presents come late, hehe)... so I sent him a package of his favorite kind of things: A McFarlane Dragon figurine, a drawing of his favorite Diablo character, and an anatomically correct heart shaped valentine card with a poem I wrote (the card idea came from a fellow member of a message board I am in)... I made it so that the veins on the heart spell out "I Love You"

Ohhhh! I can't wait till this summer when he can come up here... he makes me feel like no one else could *ever* make me feel...

He's so gentlemen-like, and it's no wonder, his father is a great role model-- you should see the kind of things he does for his lady friend!

Every one who thinks chivalry is dead, has not met my knight Travis, teehee.
Gosh I feel infinitely lucky to have him... we've been together 4 years now... he's recently decided it's about time the wedding bells start ringing--yes'm, you're seeing right... he says the first thing he's going to do is ask my mother for my hand, and then we're going to get engaged during the summer

I'm so excited!
