Finally after having messed with every webcomic management system on earth I've got my comic back online. For those of you who are interested it can be found here.

[link]

New name, same flavor. I'll be tooling around with making things more customized as time goes on.

Making a website is more complicated than I remember it being, though I guess things really are a lot more complex than when I first started. Still, progress is being made, should have something to show for it by the end of this week. Not having a great deal of time to produce comic stuff for figuring out what I want the site to be. I went about things the long way and ended up spending more time on things for the site I'm likely to not end up using, but I figured it was worth exploring my options.

Seems I'll probably use wordpress again in the new site. Building a theme will likely be my next major activity.

So I've been thinking about the way in which pointless makes its return to the world of webcomics outside of my DA page. There are a couple of ways it could go as I see it. One option is to upload the entire thing in one go and keep going from the end. The other option is to slowly update things as I have been here and then pick up from the end. The second option will include space for new content filling in some gaps in the story, but I might put some of that in as I go.

Then there is the likelihood that I'll switch all comic updating stuff to the actual site and leave my DA for drawings that aren't comic pages. I'd not mind input on if there would be interest at that point in continued updates here once that happens.

This has a lot to do with why I've paused uploading the comic here for a little while as I consider my options. I have been trying to keep new art coming though instead of the comic and to that end I think I've been fairly successful.

It has occurred to me recently that DA is indeed a social site and that it can be used to communicate to others. Being on said site for five or more years this shouldn't have been a surprise to me, but if you've watched my activity over that time you might have noticed I'm not exactly outgoing here. Recently I've been trying to change this.

Mostly I'm trying to get out more here, making more comments and making them on more people's work than I might have before. I hope most of the time the things I say will at least be of value, I have no desire to tell people "I really like this one." We'll see how well I do in this.

Also, favorites? I honestly am not sure I understand them. If I were to want to look at a particular bit of art can't I just go to that person's page here and find it there? Does this benefit that user in any way? That's about the only reason I can think of to favorite things, if I wanted to get them more traffic somehow. I may eventually need to start building a list.

For lack of me making a new page to host the comic on, Pointless is going to be posted to deviant art a page at a time until it is finished. Mainly this is me taking a look back at what has been the biggest artistic undertaking of my life thus far (which is in some regards a depressing notion). I think there is a lot to learn from the mistakes made in the production of this comic, so to that extent it might be interesting reading.

Those of you who have been reading pointless are no doubt aware by this point that the website is currently down. I'll be moving things to a new website soon, name of which hasn't been picked yet. I don't really care to go over the details of why I'm doing this, but suffice to say the host sucked and wherever I end up will be better. My knowing this would soon be the case has a lot to do with the lack of updates, but mostly it has to do with the shock of graduating lasting a lot longer than I had perhaps expected. Also, I'm lazy.

That said, if anyone knows of a particularly good webhost they would recommend I'm currently looking around.
